Submit PDF form as PDF The complete document

I'd like to setup a PDF form where I can send the complete PDF document to our web server. I'm just curious how I would do something like this in PHP? What data is being transmitted and how do I allow the web server to capture it? I saw how to do it with HTML, but I'd like to figure out how to get this to work. Thanks!

I'd suggested flattening the form fields, which converts them to regular page contents. There won't be any interactive fields after you do this though. It is possible to flattten just certain fields so that your script would still work if the form is viewed in a compatible PDF viewer, but this would require a custom script.
Here's a link to a free JavaScript-based tool that you can use to flatten the fields: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/
It could be customized to exclude certain fields.

  • Hi, will my downloadable PDF forms look exactly the same as when I upload but with spaces filled in?

Hi, will my downloadable PDF forms look exactly the same as when I upload but with spaces filled in?

Not sure I understand the question. Are you talking about the "Download Response as PDF" feature (to see the PDF filled out with the filler's data) or the "Download Submission Enabled PDF" (to sent to people to fill out)?
If you imported a PDF in FormsCentral, the Submission Enabled PDF will look exactly the same as the imported PDF plus a submit button
If you designed the form in FormsCentral and save the Submission Enabled PDF it will look very similar to the web form (switch the view in the Design Tab to Page View to see what the PDF will look like)
The PDF doesn't use skip logic or show/hide logic so this mean that the PDF always shows all the form elements
I answered a similar question today. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1251981

  • How to fill up pdf forms & sign pdf contracts using digitizer pen & tablet?

    Greetings,
I travel a lot and bring tons of documents for clients to sign. As I am trying to cut down on travel weight, i fancied upon the idea of using a digitizer such as the Genius EasyPen i405 to fill up pdf forms and sign contracts so i wouldnt have to scan, save and email the forms back to the office thousands of miles away. I would like to know if it is possble to do that using such a device. If its possible, how? I use acrobat X. Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear from you soonest. Thank you.

Thanks for your response jallisy. I just thought about this because i read somewhere that the pen acts like a mouse cursor when you move it around the digitizer. I figured the pen could act as a mouse while the digitizer could act as a mouse pad, as such the size doesnt really matter, considering you need to press a button on the pen to engage the digital ink and you use the computer screen as your guide. I havent really tried one but am just starting to explore the idea as tablets like the Ipad are now allowing users to fill up forms and sign pdfs with a finger or a capacitive pen. Youtube offers all these interesting pdf signing and editing with the Ipad. I just really dont want an Ipad. I still think a solution is just around the corner. But i am not willing to buy an expensive tablet with limited storage and productivity features over a real laptop.
The genius site for the pen stated that i can sign microsof office docs but no pdf was mentioned. I guess they have a special software for that but the people at genius havent gotten back to me yet. Another way i was thinking about was converting all the pdfs to word, sign the word document and then save as a pdf again ... the document is prone to be edited though and formats could be accidentally changed so was really thinking about doing this directly with a PDF instead.

  • How to automatically submit a form without clicking the button?

    Hi,
Is there any way to submit a form without clicking the button? Any idea is greatly appreciated.
    -Joey

well if you are filling some textfields you can do a onchange call so you can submit the form, or use any of the existing functions to do that.

  • Submitting a PDF form --- save and send completed PDF document?

A small government site has a number of 'submittable' PDF
    form documents
that they'd like me to include on the website. I am not very
    familiar
with PDF forms in this way, and hope someone here can help
    sort out a
    few things...
Can a PDF form be submitted so that
    a) the completed PDF doc is saved on the server (and renamed)
    b) a printable , completed PDF (looks just like the one they
    filled out,
with all their values saved in the input boxes) is emailed to
    specific
    address
    c) the raw user data is saved to database (maybe a list of
    fields in one
column of a db table, and a matching list of values in
    another? this
would just be for backup in case the completed PDF did not
    save
correctly to the server, or for later reference)
We've looked at the standard Acrobat 'submit via email' and
    that won't
cut it... that method appears to simply trigger a 'mailto'
    popup, with
the pdf as an attachment. Our system needs to be automated
    via CFmail.
None of these would handle any 'sensitive' information, the
    main
concern, from their part, is people being able to submit the
    form and
have both the city office and the recipient get a copy that
    prints just
as if they had hit 'print' when filling out the actual PDF.
Is all of this possible ??
    if so... any tips appreciated!

  • I emailed a PDF form and when the receiver opens it, the document has errors on it. How do I fix this problem?

I emailed a PDF file and when the receiver opened it there were errors in the file. Words on the document appeared different and weren't what they were supposed to be. How do I fix this problem?

What did the errors say? Can you post a copy of the pdf so we can test out. The presets embed the font, but might be a unicode issue, or one of the few fonts which are copyrighted and do not allow embedding.
What application was the pdf was created from, what settings were used, and if you can outline the fonts. What font or font(s) are the ones reflowing?

  • How do I submit my form as PDF in email?

I just completed a PDF form with a Submit by email button, I was able to set the email id but when i press Submit by Email button, it attaches an XML. How do I make LiveCycle Designer save the form as pdf and attach it to the set email id? Help please

Open your form in Acrobat Professional.  Using the Advanced pull down menu choose, "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".  You'll get a warning message which includes the following note - "Once reader enabled, certain functions, such as editing document content or inserting and deleting pages will be restricted." Read so you are sure this is what you want then choose Save Now.  Reader rights are now enabled.
To answer your question on usage rights, I went right to the acrobate users group and copied their indepth explanation
"To summarize the EULA as it relates to enabling PDFs, you are granted permission for enabling a PDF for a maximum of 500 uses. This means that if you post a PDF enabled form on your Web site and 500 people fill out the form, you're within the licensing agreement. If you enable a form where more than 500 people fill out and submit the form back to you, you're not complying with the licensing in the EULA. There are many uses for staying within the 500 limit. You might want to enable files used as a purchase order form, a travel expense form, a vacation leave form, etc. The form can be used by several Adobe Reader users many times, but needs to stay within the 500 use limitation.
For a huge number of appliications this new enabling feature is designed for people who don't have industrial strength needs for forms distribution that require purchase of LRES. A charity golf tournament, a small conference, a PTA event, etc. are all likely candidates for using the new enabling features in Acrobat Professional."

  • How can I send a PDF form for someone to complete, then lock it for no one to see except us when they send it back?

We would like to create a PDF form to collect sensitive information (phone numbers, payment information) from our customers. Ideally, we would like for them to be able to fill it out, then hit a button to encrypt it when completed, and send it back to us for us to view. Kind of like sending out an open, self-locking box for them to fill, and once they close it no one can see the contents without the key (which we would have).
I’m using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (11.0.07) on Mac OSX (10.9.4).
Is this possible? If so, how do I do this? Thank you in advance!

You can use certificate encryption. Each of your customers needs to have a digital certificate with a private key and send you the public key version of his/her certificate. You also need to have a digital certificate with private key and to send each customer the public version of your certificate.  Then after each customer fills in your form, she encrypts it with certificate encryption entering as recipients herself and you before sending this PDF to you. This way only this particular customer and you can open and see PDF filled with sensitive information.
This workflow presumes that you and each of your customers can procure a digital certificate (Digital ID in Acrobat-speak).

  • Can the individual form response be sent via e-mail to us in the PDF form format (not the raw output we see currently when using e-mail notifcation) each time a user submits a reponse?

Hi, we basically have an on-line job application that we need to be sent to us via e-mail notification every time a user submits a response, not with the raw data output from the form fields like the current e-mail notification setting allows, but as an actual PDF attachment that mirrors the format of the on-line form, with the user response data in it. We need this to be automated and sent to a central HR e-mail to distro to others. It would be essentially the same thing as a user downloading a PDF form, filling it out, then e-mailing it back to us, but using the submit options via the Form Central server instead. Is this even possible and, if so, is there any documentation on it? I have not found anything clear in searching for this same topic.

No this is not possible within Formscentral. You could export a PDF without a submit button (an option when saving your form as PDF) and then in Acrobat add a submit button to your form and have it automatically sent to the email of your choice. This kind of workflow falls outside the scope of Formscentral.

  • How do you create a database so that the PDF forms will populate the database as they are submitted?

I am trying to create PDF forms that will be filled out by multiple members of an organization. I would like them to be submitted electronically and then populate a database so that the data does not need to be reentered into a database.
I generally use Microsoft access but certainly know how to use comma separated values (CSV) or Microsoft Excel.
I currently utilize Acrobat Pro X.

Thanks for the info obviously I will need to watch the videos/tutorials on distributing and tracking documents.

  • PDF Form to PDF document

    Hello.
Is it possible to convert a PDF Form to a PDF document?
I created PDF Form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8 and put it on the website so our users can fill in over the Internet.
Thanks to Ulf I Anderssons sample code, I was able to use ASP.NET page to extract form field values and store them into our SQL database.
We know how to recreate the PDF Form with the data filled in, but the final product should be a PDF document so all the fields must be non-editable. And we are using Acrobat Professional 8.1.
I guess we can lock the form fields, but we should be able to programmatically save as a PDF document, right..?

ExportPDF is not, in my opinion, the least bit suitable for forms. Forms need to stay as PDFs.

  • How can I close an Open PDF form without crashing the browser

    Hi
We have build a webdynpro application in Java. In this application, we are make using of the Interactive form to bring up  a PDF form that the users can print. Our issue is that no matter what approach we take there is no gracefull way to exit once the PDF is displayed.
Here are the approaches we took.
    1) Embed the PDF in the existing Window. The form comes up correctly with all fields, but there is no way to get out from it. A browser back doesnt help, nor is there a default close button in the PDF window.
    2) Bring up the PDF on a separate window. The PDF does come up fine on this new window. We were hoping to use the window.destroyInstanece() method on this new window to both close the window and gracefully exit the PDF form. This too dint quite work out and resulted in a browser crash.
I am sure others must have faced a similar problem. Are there any suggestions on how we can handle this. I found a few other posts with similar issues but no clear answers.
We are using Adobe 7.0.9 Reader on the client end.
    Regards
    Aju Paul

I have been working with Aju on this issue. We are still experiencing the issue.
We have tried using the destroyWindow() method and using a fireplug to redirect the application. When we have an Interactive form embedded on one of the views in the window, the application will cause a browser crash when we try to destroy popup window or redirect the applicaiton.
If we remove the Interactive form from the view, we can destroy the window and we can redirect the application. The problem only  occurs when the Interactive form is present.
We have recently upgraded our server to SP10. I have also reloaded the ACF on my pc. Neither of the steps resolved the issue. What else can we look at to see what may be causing the issue.
    Thanks.....Tommy Knight

  • Create a PDF Form and Email the entire form w/ responses

I created a form in PDF and I want to e-mail the form with the responses in the fields... like a file-->send to-->mail reciepents as attachment...
I want to e-mail the form with responses not just email the data file of the form...any suggestions..please

I've seen a number of people report this type of behavior and have experienced it myself with Acrobat.com, but have never heard what's causing it or know of a fix. You might try the Acrobat.com forum here to see if they have any ideas.
What's worse is when it appears as though the form submits successfully to Acrobat.com, but the data never gets added to the responses.

  • Printing to Adobe PDF printer and getting the same document, possible??

    Hello:
I need to split a page A4 into 2 pages, it's possible using print, then tile large pages, the problem is that my original document is black and white, but the generated one has a shades of gray visible when zooming to 800% (and the size is much bigger), so my question is:
is it possible to print a document to Adobe PDF printer and getting exactly the same document?? same size, same black and white
    I'm using acrobat6

I suspected as much.  I was hopeful it was something like a setting that needed to be changed or a reg hack that needed a bit changed from 0 to 1 to make the printing work as expected.  I only installed the local printer to see if the RDP session
tunnel was in fact causing the print size to balloon so I will continue to instruct users to use that instead of the local redirected printer.  I am disappointed but not surprised.
    Edit:
Additionally I have tested the functionality of setting the GPO settings for Easy Print to use the redirected printer's drivers instead of the ones used by easy print, by setting “Computer
Configuration -> Administrative templates -Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection”.
    to “Disabled” but
with no luck.  In fact the printer received the proper Adobe PDF driver, but the job went out into print spool hell and was lost to the ether.  I have concluded that this approach will not bear any fruit.
