Submitting form as plain text

Is there a way to have the results of the an Acrobat form sent to your email as a simple text file? Something that could be easily cut and pasted into Word. The choices seem to be either to have the PDF file sent to you or to work with Adobe's form response system which seems to just add a level of complexity that is not necessary.  I tried selected HTML as the form submission format but that just creates a .tmp file that can't be opened easily.

There's no easy way to do this with just Acrobat. Using the "HTML" format will send the encoded name/value pairs, which isn't exactly easy to read, and it simply will not get attached by a lot of email clients, so it isn't a reliable approach.
What you can do is use a mailform type of script on a web server and set up the form to submit to it. This often involves the use of hidden fields on the form with specific values, that are then used by the script. The script will parse the data, format it in a human readable form, and send it in an email.

  • Would like to export data from PDF form as plain text for other applications.

    If this has been answered, I apologize and hope that someone will point me to the right place to see the answer.
    PROBLEM: I have created a PDF form to be filled out and returned via email to specific email addresses. I want that email to show the data being returned as plain or rich text (either will do) in a simple email. I need this because the information will be used in  different applications (print, web, etc...). I just need text that can easily be cut and pasted by people not that sophisticated in their use of computers.
    I understand this may be a javascript function in the Actions menu of the Submit button. But, I rarely do forms through Acrobat and this is new to me.
    Any helpful response is as always, greatly appreciated.

    I could say as I have to do, in detail?
    As could do (adobe acrobat) a button(tab delimited text file) to export a completed form from the adobe reader?

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Try to mix plain text with HTML text in mail forms

    Hi,
    I'm working with CRM 2005, and I want to build a mail form with Multi-Mime text type, but with a "html text" block and a "plain text" block in first page. I can do it but when I access to my mail form via PCUI a error occurs telling me that the mail form is defined improperly.
    Thanks a lot,
    Nuno Moreira

    Hi Nuno,
    if the mail is sent correctly and it is only a display problem in PC-UI I would suggest that you open a OSS message to ask SAP to solve this problem.

  • 26194 (7080/tcp) Web Server Uses Plain Text Authenti ...

    Our recent tenable security scan on the PeopleSoft web server shows the web
    server is using the plan text authentication. We are using the both secured
    (port 7081) and non-secured (port 7080) web services (PeopleSoft Weblogic
    web server). I have attached the detailed message to the submitted case. It
    looks that the LoginForm.jsp is passing the plain text password. I just
    don't know how to fix this? any suggestions?
    Vulnerability Details
    Vulnerability Report Description:
    Synopsis :
    The remote web server might transmit credentials over clear text
    Description :
    The remote web server contains several HTML forms containing
    an input of type password which transmit their information to
    a remote web server over plain text.
    An attacker eavesdropping the traffic might use this setup to
    obtain logins and passwords of valid users.
    Solution :
    Make sure that every form transmits its results over HTTPS
    Risk factor:
    Medium / CVSS Base Score : 5.0
    (CVSS2#AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N)
    Plugin output :
    Page : /console/login/LoginForm.jsp;ADMINCONSOLESESSION=LGY........
    Destination page : /console/j_security_check
    Input name : xxxxxxxxx
    Page : /console/login/LoginForm.jsp;ADMINCONSOLESESSION=LGY........
    Destination page : /console/j_security_check
    Input name : xxxxxxxxx

    The most common solution to the problem is to only transmit user/pass over https. You might want to only enable https on your server. Or (more finer grained solution might be to access the app only over https)

  • Quick Look of Plain Text Got Messed Up

    Hi,
    As a web designer, I often work with text files and I use Quick Look a lot to view my files quickly without opening any application.
    Normally all plain text files such as .txt .html .css .php .srt etc. are shown in a monospace typeface in front of a white background. Other formatted text files such as .rtf are shown in the font as formatted (duh).
    Recently the Quick Look of my plain text file are shown in a Serif typeface on a yellowish background. This is annoying since I really like to have my plain text files shown in "plain text". The formatted text files are shown correctly, however.
    I have a suspicion that this is cause by Writer Pro app because I installed it recently. And the font and background in Quick Look seems just like those in Writer Pro.
    I've checked in /System/Library/QuickLook and nothing is suspicious and the modified time of the folder is long time ago before the issue occured. The /Library/QuickLook is fine as well, only iBooksAuthor.qlgenerator and iWork.qlgenerator are there.
    Question:
    How to set this back to default?
    How to tweak the style of Quick Look if it is tweakable?
    Thanks for your time and attention.

    I was not able to find any "report a problem" on the order status page.
    I did wander about the Apple website and I finally found a form where I could report a problem with a print product. Apple could not have done a better job hiding the ability to report that something didn't go correctly.
    I filled out the form and submitted it. Apple simply spat back some gibberish about security and encryption and suggested I upgrade to a newer browser. I'm using Internet Explorer 11, for crying out loud. I tried to back out to recover what I had written but it was lost.
    Apple is really slipping now. This is three unpleasent experiences in a row - a bad order, awful chat support (from two different people - although I'm not convinced they were real people), and now a difficult to navigate and, in the end, buggy website for reporting problems. This is not good enough. I spent $345 on three books and am so far not very satisfied.

  • How do I save mail in rich/plain text with attachments?

    I installed Mavericks last night and see (as I expected) that the save mail with attachments in rich text or plain text function in Mail is still broken, as it was with Mountain Lion for the whole of its life, even through updates. Anyone know how to fix this if Apple won't?

    Hi,
    Currently we send emal notifications as html format by default. but you can change it as plain tex or rich text when you forward or reply the email.
    OR you can use this form to "vote" on popular feature requests, or to add a new one of your own:

  • HTTP Receiver Adapter payload as single line plain text with out any tags.

    Hi PI experts,
    I have a strange problem in http receiver adapter.
    Sender RFC (SAP)  Receiver: HTTP.
    Receiver system expects the output from XI in the below format in a single line plain text with out any tags in the payload. and the content type should be application/x-www-form-urlencoded
    Group=Test&Sentinel=Web%20Server&Facility=5345&Order Number=XT-XWHM-Y-NA&Serial Number=123456&@LABEL_QUANTITY=5&@LABEL_NAME=111114_Q
    Is there any way to achieve this using http receiver adapter. Business is not ready to accept the output from XI not even in a single element instead they only need it as a JUST a plain text.
    Appreciate early response on this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jitender

    Dear Ola,
    Could you elaborate how you achieved in catching the response data from the receiver in case of HTTP receiver adapter?
    The target service is not a WebService but some python script that must to receive some paramters via POST request.
         HOW can I post this parameters?
    Here you entered the fields of the message type of the request in the header parameters of the receiver adapter? Thats fine.
    But what about the message type and vice versa of the response from the receiver?

  • JEditorPane with text/html content-type still displaying as plain-text?

    Hello all,
    I recently started work on a very basic HTTP GET program that gets the HTML source of a page and, using a JEditorPane, displays the page as normal (i.e. like a browser would).
    Anywhoo, the HTTP GET is fine, and the source is loaded into a String called "html". Then I do this:
    displayArea.createEditorKitForContentType("text/html");
                        displayArea.setText(html);However the content appears in the editor pane as plain-text (i.e. the HTML code appears as-is, not in a 'compiled' form).
    Any ideas why this is?
    Thanks,
    Tristan

    Thanks for the replies, however the setContentType didn't work either. When I changed the code to what you suggested, nothing got inserted into the editor pane at all (i.e. no HTML - nor plain-text?). More of the code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.Socket;

  • How to fix width of plain text content control in Microsoft Word 2010?

    I try to make the simplest solution for my custom to modify current Word template without hard code anything except field name.
    As you can see above image, normally text field in Word is not fixed width control. So, it may affect document layout. Moreover, I want to add dotted line below all text fields in document template.
    Is there any possible solution that end-user can do in normal Microsoft Word 2010 application?
    PS. I will fill all controls with data from Microsoft Access.

    In PDF file, I can easily create fix-size absolute position field inside document template like the following document. In Microsoft Word, I cannot fix even the size of plain text field.
    PS. Nobody use table with fixed cell size as normal form (hard copy). I think Microsoft Word is really bad choice for creating any document template by end-user.
    Criticizing Word for not doing the same as some other application is hardly relevant. Have you tried word-processing with Adobe Acrobat?
    As for your PS, Word tables are ideal for the kind of thing you describe. Your assertion that 'nobody' does so is plain ignorance - it is a common practice. In my previous employment,
    many forms were created using Word tables. Before complaining Word is a 'really bad choice', you should learn how to use it.

    Im using interactive forms and I have a problem using linebreaks. The InputField can only accept plain text. If I switch this option off, I get this error message "Node cannot be inserted where requested" when im pressing the Submit to SAP button to go back to another view.
    Someone know what im doing wrong?

    Hello Kristoffer,
    is it necessary for you to use an input field ?
    Why aren't you using a textedit field or textarea ?

  • LDAP -- plain text password

    Hi All -
    Does any one know how to retrieve the password from LDAP in plain text form?
    Thanks,
    Giri

    Hi Giri,
    Yes there is a possiblity, you can retrive password using java server side program, we had same problem and then fixed now we can retrieve password as well as Userid.
    Note: we are authenticating against LDAP server and App server is
    IBM WebSphere Application server.
    for using below example:
    public class TestServer
    private void performLoginAndAuthentication()
    // Get the user's ID and password.
    String userid = customGetUserid();
    String password = customGetPassword();
    // Ensure immediate authentication.
    boolean forceAuthentication = true;
    // Create a new security context to hold
    // authentication data.
    ServerSideAuthenticator serverAuth = new ServerSideAuthenticator();
    try
    // Perform authentication based on supplied data.
    org.omg.SecurityLevel2.Credentials credentials =
    serverAuth.login(userid, password, forceAuthentication);
    // Retrieve the user's name from the credentials
    // so we can tell the user that login succeeded.
    String username = serverAuth.getUserName(credentials);
    System.out.println("Authentication successful for user: "+username);
    catch (Exception e)
    // Handle exceptions.
    Just research or give me more details how may I can help you in this case.
    Thanks

  • Cannot paste text from Safari as PLAIN TEXT

    Safari 2.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.9.
    Text copied from some web pages like
    http://www.eloquentsw.com/livedictionary.html
    cannot be pasted as plain unformated text. For instance, into Eudora Headings (which should paste it as plain text) or using Shift Command V to paste (which should paste it as plain text).
    But if I copy such text, paste in a web form like this and then copy from here, then it pastes as plain text.
    No problem using other browsers like Firefox. The issue only arises with Safari.
    Any idea? Thanks.

    You might be stuck, then, unless someone else knows a keyboard shortcut that does what you want.
    My workaround for problems like this has always been to paste into a plain text editor (like BBEdit or TextWrangler), then copy and re-paste into the target document. Yes, it's a workaround, but it does work.

  • What data to return when submitting form to a php script?

    Been trying to figure this out for few days now. Been googling it up and found nothing.
    I made a form with livecycle designer, put a http submit button to post data to my php script and when I open it up on acrobat reader and try to submit it, I get an error about content-type not being correct etc.
    What kind of content-type should I be returning then? text/plain, text/html and application/pdf with 0 lenght content doesn't seem to cut it. Can I disable whole return-check as I really dont have anything to return? Or can I somehow send an "success/failure" pop-up or something?

    Thank you George,
    I added the line: header('x', TRUE, 204); to my PHP script per your suggestion and found that I get an error thrown "invalid server response" when using acrobat reader or acrobat pro 9. No new window is loaded and the pdf user's experience is not changed (except for the error message).
    Without the added line, I get the error "no input file page data" thrown.  Since I'm not returning anything to the browser that is expected but not wanted.
    In either case, the data fields are captured and saved by my PHP script. It seems that acrobat requires a response from the server otherwise it is not happy. I can't see a way that I can turn off error messages to avoid this.
