Subtract two characters in a query

Hi Experts,
I want to know how to subtract two characters in a query could you please give me the solution regarding this.
Ex: posting date - Document date
Regards,
Krish

Hi,
this can be achieved by creating two formula variables for 2 chars with replacement path and do a subtraction.

  • Trim last two characters of a String

    Hi,
    I have a task to trim the last two characters of a string in a column and get the rest as output for comparison purpose.
    the length of column value is not fixed.
    For example
    I/p O/p
    India_1 India
    America_2 America
    I achieved the result using the below query:
    SELECT SUBSTR (TRIM ('India_1'), 1, LENGTH (TRIM ('India_1')) - 2) FROM DUAL;
    I have used the trim function to remove the leading and trailing spaces in the column value.
    Could somebody please let me know if there is a better way to get the result .. like in one shot query.
    Thanks,
    Pratik

    I have a task to trim the last two characters of a string in a column
    SQL> with t as (
    select 'India_1' str from dual union all
    select 'America_2' from dual
    select regexp_replace(str, '..$') str1 from t
    STR1
    India
    America
    2 rows selected.

  • Last two characters are cut out when entering data in a text form

    Whenever I try leaving a comment on a page, it always cuts out the last two characters, and replaces them with "Pr". This happens across multiple browsers, (Chrome, FF, and Camino), but not Safari.
    In addition, if a '<' character was put in, it'll cut out the last two characters in its code, and replace them with Pr again, leaving %Pr.
    This happens on a mac (I'm posting for my friend who I talk to all the time).

    We did end up checking keyboard related settings in her Mac Preferences, but there wasn't anything related. I will end up trying Apple's forums if no one here can help. Anyways the "Pr" I believe might've come from the source code, as there is "editProfile" in the page. I don't really do web development, so I'd have no idea here. This is the page's source from around that area btw (I had to convert them to all HTML character codes because it kept parsing it):

  • How can I do field validation on the last two characters of a text field?

    I have a text field. The user is required to enter the last two characters as numbers. I want to apply validation on this field. How can i achieve the same?
    EX: If the user enter ABCDE, an error messgae stating the last two digit should be numeric.
    I tried using the below in the field validation which did not work.
    (0+Right([<ExternalSystemId>],2)) > 0 AND (0+Right([<ExternalSystemId>],2)) < 99.
    Any ideas would help?

    Try this-
    FindOneOf(Right([<Field1>],"2"),"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz")=0

    Did you get a satisfactory outcome to this problem? Does the current patch of Netweaver 04S cover it?

  • Is there a specific two characters at the beginning of all gift card codes?

    I bought a $50 iTunes gift card today and when I scratched it, I accidentally removed the first two characters, I was just wondering, is there a way I can find out what they were? Thank you in advance!

    See this -> iTunes Store: Invalid, inactive, or illegible codes

  • How can I pull info into a report using just the first two characters of that field?

    I am trying to pull a total cost based upon locations in a particular area(s). Can I get the formula to just do this based on the first two characters of that field?
    Here is what I have so far:
    if {PACKED.LOCATIONS.NEXT OPERATION} = ["xx"] THEN {Job.Total_Price}
    Packed locations is a table I'm pulling from and the column I want just the first two digits is the the Next operation. Once this meets the "xx" (whatever location) then give me the total price from the Job table.
    This works for one or two orders, but then blows up when I do 10 or so.

    Hi Steve, assuming that Next Operation is a string field...
    Create a new formula and place it in the field where you see the {Job.Total_Price} field (Detail or Group depending on your report) with the formula:
    whileprintingrecords;
    global numbervar TotalValue;
    if len({? Replace me}) <= len({PACKED.LOCATIONS.NEXT OPERATION}) then(
    if left(ucase({PACKED.LOCATIONS.NEXT OPERATION}),len({? Replace me})) = ucase({? Replace me}) then
    TotalValue := TotalValue + {Job.Total_Price}
    TotalValue;
    You can go ahead and suppress that field.
    Create a new formula to place where you want to view the summary using the formula:
    whileprintingrecords;
    global numbervar TotalValue;
    This method allows for a higher degree of flexibility and you can search for the first x characters of that field instead of only the first 2 characters

  • IOS 5.1.1 Music app aborts after two characters entered in search field if Home Sharing in use.

    The iOS 5.1.1 Music app search function works fine on my iPad 2 as long as the library being searched is resident on the iPad.
    When Home Sharing from my iMac’s iTunes library is used, however, the Music app aborts without explanation after two characters are entered in the search field.
    The behavior is always as expected after the first character is entered, but an abort always occurs after the second.
    I have tried restarting iTunes on my iMac, and I have done a hard reset on my iPad, but the behavior remains the same.
    This is not a minor problem from the user’s perspective, because unless the iTunes library being accessed is very small, it is very hard to find music from the information shown by the Music app on the iPad screen; it would be even worse for an iPhone or iPod touch. Without the search function working on iOS Music app, Home Sharing is of very limited use for me.
    In case it is relevant, here is fuller information about the environment:
    iMac 27" 2.93 GHz i7 12 GB RAM (Approx. 10 GB free or inactive at time of problem)
    OS X 10.7.4
    iTunes 10.6.3
    iPad 2G 16 GB Wi-Fi only
    iOS 5.1.1
    Airport Extreme 5G v 7.6.1

    Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department.  Her suggestions:  change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers.  So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
    My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue.  It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more.  Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
    My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department.  Make them aware of this problem!

    I havew to subtract two dates and get the differnce ,
              Date issuedDate= myobj.getIssueDate();
              Date expirationDate=DateUtils.addMonths(issuedDate, 6);
              long timeDiff=expirationDate.getTime()-new Date().getTime();
              long daysRemaning=timeDiff/86400000;this is code I get the number of days between the issue date and todays date.now my client wants not just days but months and days , i need suggestions on how to get days and months between any two given dates

    I have read that it is best to use java.util.Calendar for almost any time related issue.
    With some switch statements and a for loop, I think the Calendar class could solve the problem.

  • How can update two rows in one query?

    How can update two rows in one query?
    Edited by: OracleM on May 4, 2009 12:16 AM

    What do you mean with "two rows"? May be two columns??
    If the where clause of UPDATE query matches two rows, then it will update two rows. If you want to update two columns, then add column names to your query
    UPDATE your_table SET col1=value1, col2=value2 WHERE your_where_clause- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

  • First two characters erversed! (see what I mean?...)

    On my MacBook Pro listed below I get this funny behavior: I go into a text field, or type in TextEdit (it makes no difference what) and sometimes, the first two characters I type get inverted, i.e. I want to type the word 'word' and, sure enough, I hit the keys in the right order: w-o-r-d, but when I look at my screen, I've managed to type 'owrd'. 'w' and 'o' have been entered into the buffer in the opposite order to what I typed.
    And yes, I've been observing this over a number of days prior to my posting. I touch type, and I'm very accurate. The problem doesn't manifest itself with other machines.
    Anyone else has observed something like it?
    Many thanks, as always.

    Hi Carolyn, thanks for the reply.
    I mustn't have put it clearly in the original post: it makes no difference if I'm editing text in TextEdit or another app. I've had the issue with pretty much every text-capable app in OS X.
    Unless, of course, I'm losing it, and I'm actually entering the characters in the wrong order. But I don't think so.
    Still, it's a peculiar issue to pin down, as it's definitely very hard to replicate. I mean, how do you 'replicate' potentially making a mistake?
    Here's a funny instance of it, from just earlier tonight (it's nearly midnight here in Greece):
    I was in Finder and wanted to quickly open a new Finder window to see how much free space I've got on the hard disk (at the bottom of the Finder window) and CMD-Tab to Safari and look at a page I had loaded. So the key sequence was: CMD-N, CMD-Tab. What I got was the opposite: OS X first switched over to Safari, and duly opened a new, blank Safari window instead.
    I had definitely pressed CMD-N before pressing CMD-N.

  • How to Calculate the Space between two Characters in GDI + ?

    I am Drawing the set of characters in Graphics, by Calculating the points using GraphicsPath for each Character. I Need to know how to calculate the distance should be given between the two characters?
    I am using this code to generate points
    PointF [] pnts;
    var p=new GraphicsPath();
    path.AddString("A","Arial",(int)FontStyle.Regular,50,new pointF(0f,0f),StringFormat.GenericDefault);
    Matrix m=new Matric(1,0,0,1,0,0);
    path.Flatten(m,1,0f);
    pnts=path.pathpoints;
    i am getting the points for all characters using the above code.
    Now i am combining the two character Using the points generated by the above code.  Eg "AB"
    Help me to calculate the the character space should be given between two characters?
    Thanks in Advance...

  • Need to check whether first  two characters of a string is Alphabets or not

    Hi,
    Need to check whether first two characters of a string is alphabet or not.
    Lets say for Ex,
    String as 'DE123456' i need to check whether first  character is non-numeric and then second character as non numeric.
    kindly help me on this.
                    IF length(trim(p_parserec(31))) = 22 AND p_parserec(31) LIKE 'DE%'  THEN
                        AUFTRAGGEBERKONTONR := trim(p_parserec(31)) ;
                     ELSIF  (length(trim(p_parserec(31))) > 22 AND length(trim(p_parserec(31))) < 35)  AND p_parserec(31) NOT LIKE 'DE%'  THEN
                       AUFTRAGGEBERKONTONR := lpad(trim(p_parserec(31)), 34, 0) ;
                     ELSIF length(trim(p_parserec(31))) > 10 AND ascii(substr(p_parserec(31), 1, 2)) between 48 and 57 THEN
                       AUFTRAGGEBERKONTONR := lpad(trim(p_parserec(31)), 10, 0) ;
                     ELSE
                        p_errorcd   := sqlcode ;
                        p_errordata := sqlerrm ;
                   END IF ;
    Note : In the third else if condition the character should be greater than 10 and first 2 characters should not be alphabets.

    To this requirement only regexp_like will work too! No need of some other string function!
    Like:-
            -- in regexp_like last parameter shows to ignore case (optional).
    SQL> with t as
      2  (select 'AB123456' as key from dual union all
      3  select 'CD234567' from dual union all
      4  select 'A1234567' from dual union all
      5  select 'A52H4341' from dual union all
      6  select 'Dk274341' from dual union all
      7  select 'DE234556' from dual)
      8  select key
      9  from t
    10  where regexp_like(key,'^[A-Z]{2}','i') -- even '^[[:alpha:]]{2}' or '^\D{2}' pattern can be replaced for same result..
      11  /
    KEY
    AB123456
    CD234567
    Dk274341
    DE234556
