Success with export/import of Discoverer portlets?

Hi folks.
Before I begin working with the 9iAS export/import procedures, can anyone tell me if they've been successful exporting and importing pages with Discoverer portlets from one 9iAS server to another?
Are there any gotchas?

So are you saying:
Pages with Discoverer portlets will be transported with the Discoverer portlets in place.
However, after the transport, the end-user will have to "Edit Defaults" again.
And user customizations would have to be re-applied.

Issues with Export/Import using Database & Shared buffer

Hi All,
I have a method that calls a program via a job and I am having issues passing data between the two.
Note that two different users process the method and program (via job) resp. This is how I am calling the second prog-
SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
             VIA JOB     l_jobname
                 NUMBER l_jobcount
                 USER    i_user
             AND RETURN.
I need to pass data from method to the second program and vice versa and then the method continues its processing with the data acquired from the second program.
I have tried using Import/Export using database and also shared buffer. What I have found is that most of the times I am able to pass data from method to program. However the job takes a couple of min to execute and I think that the data is not making back to the method in time.
I have looked at some useful forum links-

I have tested the scenario without the job previously itself and it works. Thats the reason, i am trying with the job now as my requirement is that I need to change the user while executing the second report.
Here is an example of my import/export - I am passing the return value from the second report to the first.
Code in second report-
DATA: INDXKEY LIKE INDX-SRTFD VALUE 'RET1'.
INDX-AEDAT = SY-DATUM.
INDX-USERA = SY-UNAME.
EXPORT RETURN1 TO SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.
Code in first report -
SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
                 VIA JOB     l_jobname
                     NUMBER l_jobcount
                     USER    i_user
                 AND RETURN.
Once Job close FM is executed successfully, I import the values as follows
IMPORT RETURN1 TO RETURN1 FROM SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY3.
INDXKEY is having value RET1.
However Return1 is not having any values in first report. It has some value in executed without the job
Please note that I have tried Export/import with Database too and I am getting the same results.

SAP is not coming up after system refresh with Export/Import option

Please check the logs it is clrerly mentioned thet your sapsystem is not able to connect to database.

System copy with Export/Import Distribyted system UNIX database, Windows CI

we have a distributed system witch I want to make a copy of
Oracle Database on HP-UX
CI + SCS on Windows
Dual stack system ABAP/Java
1) I have made an system copy with data base copy tools, and that works fine.
2) I have made a system copy export/import of a "central system"
If I try to make an export/import system copy on a distributed system it wont work.
( this work fine in a central system) I dont get anny error messages all gren checks marks !
It seems like the problem are in not finding the profiles from CI ?
It find the profiles for the sapgateway.
I someone are more interested I have more documentation with screen shots in a word document.
I Have used Installation Master SR3 and tryed with some older versions as well.

Using virtual hosts for central and/or DB instances
SYMPTOM:
You are using virtual host names for your central instance and/or the database instance (e.g. in a HA environment). Although SAPinst finishes successfully, some export steps are not being performed.
SOLUTION:
Start the export with the property SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host>.
If the central instance and the database instance run on different hosts, run the database export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host name of the DB server> and - if you run a Java or ABAP+Java system - run the central instance export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host nameof the central instance host>.
If you run a central system with different host names in the profiles, handle the export as a distributed export, calling SAPinst with parameter SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME. Perform the export of the database instance on the DB server, calling SAPinst with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host of the DB server>.

Hi I have received folloving answer from SAP:
You're doing everything correct - besides one thing.
When you specify the profiles during the database export it cannot be
correct to specify the profiles of the gateway instance located on
the same host.
As a consequence - it picks up the wrong instance G01 and sets the
property 'hasABAP' and 'hasJava' to 'false'... - thus the export
is empty. You can see this within the corresponding 'sapinst.log' file.
The correct procedure would be to specify the profiles of the central
instance on the Windows Machine. If you cannot access them, you should
make them available by Samba or by any type of software which makes
it's possible to export filesystems or directories from windows to
unix.

I've had similar issues and made manual changes to the file to get it to install correctly. In my case, I got:

Problem with export / import

Hi everybody, I am having a problem with an import. I am doing an export with a value in an user exit:
EXPORT V_NLQNR = V_NLQNR TO MEMORY ID 'QUANTL'
And after I call import in another program:
IMPORT V_NLQNR = V_NLQNR FROM MEMORY ID 'QUANTL'.
But when I check the sy-subrc I am getting 4, so I don't get anything.
Does anybody why?? Is there a problem if I call the export from an user exit??

I think you have the right idea.
As a suggestion I would name my variables to make it clear which data is being
exported/imported. I would also use different names on the left and right side of the = sign.
Here is a working example from programs that I use:
In the first program
   EXPORT intercodata FROM g_data_exp TO MEMORY ID 'INTERCOWOS'.
     where g_data_exp is declared as a global variable
In the second program
   IMPORT intercodata TO g_data_imp FROM MEMORY ID 'INTERCOWOS'.
     where g_data_imp is declared as a global variable
The syntax that you use ( p1 = dobj1 ) should work as well, just make sure that the variable v_nlqnr to the right of the equal sign has a value before the export.

Issue with Export / Import Configuration Data in AC 5.3 migration to AC 10

Hi,
We are migrating from AC 5.3 to AC 10. As per the Migration Guide I have exported the data from AC 5.3.
The export created around 57 files on the destination with .dat extension.
Moved these files to target server Import location.
Then I have used the utility (GRAC_DATA_MIGRATION) in AC 10. Selected the Import location. and clicked Get Files.
It has uploaded some files (21 out of 57).
When I analyzed the uploaded files, I found it has uploaded only "Common Configuration" data. For the below Objects, though the export utility has created files, Import utility did not uploaded the files.
1. Business Unit
2. Critical Roles and Profiles
3. CUP Role Repository
4. Mitigation Controls
5. SOD Rules
6. Workflow
Does anyone have any idea about this issue?

I am having a requirement in which i am exporting an internal table to memory from one program and importing that in another program. in foreground it is working fine. But in background it is not working. Is there any work around.

Problem with Export/Import in background

Hi Experts,
I am having a requirement in which i am exporting an flag to memory from one program and importing that in another program. in foreground it is working fine. But in background it is not working. Is there any work around.
Report 1:
DATA:l_flag type c value 'X'.
free memory id 'ZFLAG'.
EXPORT L_FLAG TO MEMORY ID 'ZFLAG'.
LEAVE PROGRAM.
Report 2:

You can export the flag to database ..it is not required to be a internal tabel. You can refer to this link..

Here obj1 can be single variable..
EXPORT obj1 ... objn TO DATABASE dbtab(ar) ID key
This will work in Background not the Export to MEMORY statement.

Help with export/import in premiere pro

Hi Everyone
I have a question about import and export in Premiere Pro CS5.
I have some 1920*1080 .mov-files shot with canon eos 500d.
What is the best import setting for premiere pro cs5?
What is the best export setting from premiere pro (to adobe encore) to dvd?
The film is going to be projected on to a big screen. How do I get the best quality for this?

I've found TIFF to be the cleanest output from PPT for inclusion in video, and I've also found that the scale to frame size command usually works pretty well within Premiere. However, Photoshop's scaler uses much better algorithms and will give you a much better result. You can do a batch process on all your files and automatically create smaller versions of them if you'd like. Alternatively, you can open PPT and customize the size of your PPT slide, which should scale everything to fit your new size. Then you'll have native 720x480 TIFFs on export from PPT.

ORA-01401 with export/import

Hi!
I'm trying to migrate database from from version 8.0 on novell to 9.2 on Linux.
I have precreated all tablespaces and all tables are succesfully created. In data import stage I got lot of "ORA-01401 inserted value too large for column" errors.
Any hints would be very welcome.

Thank you for your answer, but I'm aware of what this error means.
Lets go through the procedure one more time:
1. Export form old database (8.0) is done with exp
2. Tablespaces are manually created in new database (9.2)
3. Import of tables, users, data, etc is done with dump from step 1. During import I get a lot of ORA-01401 errors, although I didn't change dump file and data in it.
I have found somewhere on the net that this could be from characterset conversion, but I'm not shure how to set charactersets to avoid this errors.

Problems with export/import

Hi People,
I'm fairly new to the world of Oracle, I wonder if you could help me.
* Imported a dump file into Oracle 8.1.7 R3
( Came from Oracle 8.1.7 running on HP/UX, importing onto another HP/UX
system. Dump file is from one user and contains approx 7GB of data )
Once imported this leaves me with approx 10% of my disk left ( its a 9GB
partition ).
* Ran a purge script against the user's tables that removes transactional
data over 60 days old. This should get rid of 50-60% of the data.
* I then exported the table data out to a dmp file
( Compressing Extents )
* removed original user
* removed rollback segments
* removed tablespace
* recreated tablespace
* recreated rollback segment
* created user
* ran imp with the newly created dmp file
The problem i've got, is that once I import the newly created dump file,
it fills the disk up completely and the import never finishes.
Please forgive me, as i'm sure i'm doing something fundamentally wrong.
Can someone explain what i'm doing wrong and how to rectify it ?.

It seems the import is failing because the export to memory fails also.
Can you explain?
Did you check the extended debugger facilities like memory areas?
What is the structure/amount of data for ex- and import, same name, same data object?
Just reveal what you are really doing, post a few code lines.

I have created my web dynpro project in my system. i tried to exported as zip file. and import in to my laptop. unfortunatly it asks, where to import this zip file and i have given my workspace in my laptop. but it doesn't accept it. Any one can help me by step by step. forget about what i have done. please give me your sugisstions.

Right Click on You project select export as -->zip file select location finish.
to import that one.
create new project with same name (the project old name)
file-->import -->zip file Select your zip file --> select the new project nad click finish

According to my requirement
I created a copy program(ZRSEIDOC2)   which is copy program of RSEIDOC2attached in T Code WE02.
and I created another program ZXXXXXX.
Now what I am trying to do is
1.     I am trying to export the final output table/internal table to program ZXXXXXX.
Export I_listedidc to memory id SID.
2.     In Program ZXXXXXX, I used to submit statement & import statement for output table/internal table.
Submit ZRSEIDOC2 using selection-screen 1000.
Import I_Listedidc to memory id SID.
Which give the automated way to find out the output i.e. status,process,.
My Question is..
Is I_listedidc right table/itab, which I am using my statement?
Do I am writing the code in a right way?

use:
Export I_listedidc to memory id 'SID'.
Submit ZRSEIDOC2 using selection-screen 1000.
Import I_Listedidc from memory id 'SID'.

Performance issue with Export functionality in Discovere

Hi ,
I am running a discoverer report which is taking only 3 minutes to complete. But when we try to export it to Excel , it takes 2 hours.
There are only 1500 records to be exported.
Has anyone faced this type of issue ?

Pl post your version of Discoverer - are you exporting out of an EBS instance ? Does this work on other PCs or for other workbooks ? Pl see if these MOS Docs are helpful
