Successful PC to AmEx Everyday rewards!

I made the silly mistake of applying for Blue from American Express, thinking choosing a lesser card I'd have a better chance, and I was approved. Only to find out that I would have had an equal chance at an Everyday or BCE/BCP. The card is inteneded to be my daily driver, for all of my small purchases from month to month, so I figured with the 20% bonus MR points for 20 or more purchases, and 2x at supermarkets, it'd be worth doing the PC I was offered. Very excited to have a more useful card . Side note: The agent I was on the phone with said they no longer offer a Green Card? It seems to still be on the website, but has anybody else caught wind of AmEx dropping the Green Card?

Congrats

  • AMEX Everyday Preferred Pending App - CSR responses have varied.

Last week I was feeling it with my 650 FICO scores across the board and decided to apply for an AMEX revolver. I have two business cards from them, the American Express Gold Rewards card and the True Earnings Costco card (with the latter soon to become useless since Costco dropped AMEX). i recieved mix responses from 3 different CSR and I was wondering if anyone experienced this before. I didn't get an approval or a denial, simply a message that said my application is under review. Right now on the application status page it shows : We will notify you once your application has been processed, or if we need additional information. If you wish to view an electronic communication of your decision details once we have made a decision, click here.
I also got an email that contained this message: So I called them up 3 times today: 1st call was a female CSR. She told me my application is under review and I needed to wait 4-5 business days. I asked her what could be the possible reasons for such a long hold up and she told me it's because initially I probably didn't qualify but because of some certain factors or that I might have a history with American Express they are manually reviewing the application. Here is where it gets weird 2nd call was a male CSR and he told me because I already applied for the AMEX BCE and was denied (WHICH I DID NOT APPLY FOR),  my application for the AMEX Everyday Preferred card was also declined and to wait for the letter in the mail. I told him I did not apply for the BCE and he told me to hold on. He then apologized, took my SSN once again and told me that I was right and I did not apply for the BCE but the application was denied and to wait for the letter in the mail. My application status is still at "In Progress" so I decided to call one more time. 3rd call was a female CSR and she told me that another represenative has already took a look at my account. I told her I called back because a male CSR told me my application was denied and I wanted to know if that was the cause. She said it's still pending, under review and has not been denied. She told me to call back within 2-3 business days. Thoughts?

Have you called 1-800-576-8942? It's new accounts, you should try someone there but they're pretty much as clueless.

  • I think I'm in shock - Amex Everyday Approval!

So - I just had to spend a darn decent amount on repairing my car (just shy of 2k )  It went on a card with enough room, and quite a bit was coming out of the savings account, and another bit onto a 0% card that still has 10 months remaining, but I was looking at paying interest for 10 months at 24.9%, which I hated the idea of, but I didn't have an extra grand laying around.   Got to looking around, didn't have a preapproval, but started thinking about applying for the Amex Everyday (with the 0% for 15 months on balance transfers and APR).  I figured a denial really couldn't hurt more than that 24.9% interest rate, so I bit the bullet and cold apped.  I think I almost passed out when it said I was approved.  After I got logged in I saw that they had approved me for $2000!  Holy crap.  I'm incredibly happy and still slightly in shock!  Now - to figure out how to request a balance transfer.  Thank you to everyone here on myFico.  Seriously - could not have done it without you.

Is there still time for OP to apply for a charge card and not get a 2nd HP? You should totally go apply for the PRG, go from an incognito browser window and when it shows 50k MR points after 1k spend in 3mos, click apply. If you get denied, its only a soft pull anyway! (i know it may not be easy with these expenses you werent expecting to have) And whatever the case, CONGRATS on the approval! The ED card kinda bugged me at first. I didn't think it was all that great compared to the others. That was until I found out the value of MR points! Easy to earn 1.2 and 2.4 which can really be worth even more if done right! Plus no annual fee.   What will you plan on doing with your 10k points? If you get amex gift cards, its only 50 bucks. If you get restaurant ones, its $100. But if you redeemed for travel it could be worth a lot more! Pair that with the 50k from the PRG and you are golden! While an awesome idea - there's no way for me to meet 2 bonus spends.  Largest expense is rent, and there's no way for it to be paid by anyway but check.  Groceries over the next few months will take care of the 1k on the ED card.  I'm not sure that I'd make good use of the charge card.  Thanks for the info on the MR Points, its gonna take some time to fingure out what I want to do with them.  And thanks for the congrats!

  • AMEX Everyday Card VS Charge Card, Green?

Hi All, I applied for the AMEX Everyday Card last thursday and got denied.  I called the recon line and my app was sent again hoping it gets approved this time.  Most likely i will not be getting the card.  My questions are: 1. How likely am I to get a charge card (i heard is easier). I pay in full every month2. If i decide to go for it, how long should i wait? I want to get my cards out of the way so my HPs fall by 2017 Income = $61kCredit Karma Scores = EQ708, TU693, EX708CH7 d/c 10/2010Inquiries = TU2 (2 credit cards from May2015 approved), EQ7, EX7

  • Amex Everyday easier to get than Blue Cash?

My last three baddies wil fall off my Experian in October and I wanted to get an Amex Blue Cash Everyday to basically buy all my food and fuel and stuff with to earn cash back, but from what I've read, the regualar Everyday card (the grey/silver one) might be easier to obtain.   Once those negatives fall off I should be looking at a mid 600's score with 9 inquiries and very small balances on my few other cards that I keep that way on purpose. (My TU is the best right now with no negatives, but trying to get Amex to pull TU is not an easy task, from what I've read here and there.)

I highly doubt that there's a difference in underwriting for these two cards. I've had many AmEx revolvers over the years, and the only one I noticed that had easier underwriting criteria is the cobranded Gold Delta Skymiles card. +1 For what it's worth, I got a BCP (and a Green card) with two 6-year old COs, and I also had a BK7 in 2000 in which an Amex account was included.  My EX at time of approval in April was 695.Whaaaat? Wow lucky! Also, there is quite a difference for someone with a 695 Fico score and someone in the mid-600s when it comes to approvals by Amex. I still believe the BCP has tougher UW requirements than the ED... but I was too chicken to test this theory out so I only tried for the ED card I agree with you as well.  And you're right, I was very lucky to be able to get 'back in' with Amex.    Actually, I applied for the Green card expecting to get declined, just to get a 'free' copy of my Experian FICO.  Well, surprise, surprise, it was approved!  The only 'problem', though, is I honestly didn't (and still don't) have much use for a charge card.  So I had read about the '2-for-1' HPs with Amex, and I decided to go for the BCP,  which is what I really would have wanted to begin with... and it was approved as well.  Granted, I only got a $1K SL and after the promo the APR is 21.9%, but that's OK.  I just use it at Kroger and Publix, and I PIF each month, collecting 6% back for groceries.  Rinse, and repeat...  In case you're wondering, yes, Amex does 'remember' what happened 15 years ago.  About two weeks after my approval, when I logged in online, instead of saying "Member since 2015" it started saying "Member since 1995".  Also, I was denied a CLI, and the letter said it was due to "...previous account experience with American Express", or something like that.  So it will likely be a long time before I get a CLI, if ever, but for my purposes I have what I need. They remember what happened 35 years ago. A day after I got my ED in January, the MSD changed to 1980.

  • Got approved for AMEX everyday and Premier gold in same month w/640

Hey guys, I applied for and got an everyday card with a 500 limit (a start I guess) on 6/29, and I applied for the gold premiere charge card on Tuesday, and got approved for it. What is a good way to guage spendability on the gold?  My plan is to just put all of my normal monthly expenses on the gold and pay it...  I guess if I hit a wall, I hit a wall.  I was very surprised I got approved for either, as I've tried to get amex charge for years without any avail.  I currently have a 640/617 on creditkarma.. I joked with my wife that my BMW financial loan with 3% interest must have facilitated the approval.

Congrats and welcome to the Amex family As to checking spend ability Click on PRG Look for check spending ability (bottom right corner)Enter amount Do Not abuse the button it will lock you out  after 3 attempts

  • Barclaycard Approval...No on Amex everyday

Hey, So I read the forums and I was going back and forth about my next card choice. I used to work for AMEX and really wanted to transition to an AMEX card but after a pending decision, it came back denied. I recently purchased my first home ($128k mortagage), the mortgage has not hit yet my profile yet, but I have the following cards: CreditOne- $500Barclaycard- $1300 *** just approved todayHome Depot- $1500Plat. Capital One- $3300 My scores are: TransUnion: 680 Equifax: 660 Experian: 650 I know AMEX only uses Experian. I haven't had any late payments in over a year if not more, and I make over $60k a year. How long should I wait until I apply for another AMEX. I do not know the reason they declined it, I will ofcourse get that info in the mail soon.

CONGRATS on your new home & your new approvals! I agree that you should nix that Credit One card ASAP (you won't regret it). Once your Cap1 card is 6 months old, request a PC to a QuickSilver to take advantage of the 1.5% cashback on everything.

  • Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards-APPROVED

I found these boards so helpful in deciding whether or not I should apply, so I thought I'd share my experience for any others who may be interested in this card.  All 3 of my scores are right around 650.  I have a 4 year old car repo, and a few 6 year old medical collections, other than that, everything recently is doing great.  I was approved last month for a $1000 CL on an Amex Everyday, which I was thrilled about, it's been my largest limit so far.  Have 4 other smaller cards.  I really want the points for SW and finally decided to just give it a try.  To my surprise, not only was I approved, I was approved with a $16,000 CL!!!  Never in a million years, especially after rebuilding after a tough couple of years, did I think I'd get approved, much less a limit that high.  Hope someone else finds this useful.

  • 2 AMEX, BOA CLI & Discover-It Denials - Recon?

    Hey everyone!
I had been riding a hot streak the past few days getting Cap One Quicksilver and Venture, Chase Freedom & Citi Double Cash. I was brought back to earth with a thud by the AMEX Everyday denial, and taking some advice I found in one of the threads, applied for the Delta card so they'd use the same HP. Also a no-go, but it was because I was already rejected for the first card. Discover also told me take a hike.
Should I recon all in 30 days? I'm thinking my newer balances haven't posted and the HPs showed high util on 2 cards and maybe HPs for the new cards. Worth a shot via backdoor or lick my wounds in the garden for awhile?

You can try to recon within but the denial may hold.  What was the reason given to you for the denials?  That often holds the clue.

  • What has been your AU credit score increase?

Hi All! I'm just wondering what has everyone's score experiences been when they were added as an AU to some high limit cards. I was just added on to a families members two cards that they don't use or if they do, they PIF before statement cuts. The two cards I was added to were an Amex BCE at $20,000 limit and a Barclay AA Red Aviator card at $17,000 limit. These two card along with my two current credit limits will total around $40,000 in credit. I'm currently in the rebuilding process after completely ruining my finances during college. Current scores are EQ - 610, TU - 632, EX - 604. Thanks for the insight!

^^^ Thank's for the information. I know Amex is not backdating anymore, but I'm not too woried as my current AAoA as it stands without the two new cards is a little over 6 years. I'm currently waiting till September for my Cap1 QS1 credit steps to kick in. Hopefully I'll be among those who gets a $2-3K CLI....one can only hope I guess.  I'll be in the garden till' at least next summer. I have no collections, but a few charge offs from Cap1 3 years ago that were completely PIF. Also have car loan and student loans that have never missed a payment in loan history. Hopefully my scores will start to increase here soon.  Goal is get at least 2-3 cards with $5k+ Limit. Looking to have an Amex Everyday card, Chase Saphire, and Cap1 Venture in the future. More focused on travel rewards than cashback.

  • I want to do this tonight! Please help!

I got approved for Cap1 Venture and CSP late last month and already using them to get the reward points. Since I already have the 2 inquiries for these newly cards and they will come off in jun/2017.  Should I try and apply for AMEX everyday no AF and Chase Freedom, or other cards? I want to get it out of the way and then don't apply for any other cards for a least 3 years or more. Or should i wait until Jan 2016 to apply. Experian - I have 7 inquiries. 3 inquiries will be falling off this year, one from cap1, one from mortgage company and one from when I used to rent. The 4 remaining are from opening a checking account, iinitial pre-qual mortgage approval, different place I was renting and one disputing from pen fed (my Info got compromise due to the DHS hack and my info was used) contacted PenFed and they are going to remove. Equifax - same as Experian above Transunion - 4 inquiries, 2 falling off this year, one from cap1 one from mortgage loan. The two remaining are from two property management companies where I used to rent. Score are EX 703, TU 703, EQ 691 pulled on june 23rd CH7 discharged in 10/2010 - burned chase, cap1, citi, bestbuy, target, Macy's and Walmart  but not amexTotal CL is $35k between C1Q silver, C1Q silver 1, Cap1 Venture, Chase SP & Barclay NFL balance only on two cards, c1 venture is $564 paying it off Saturday, balance on cap1Q silver $1300, paying it off in July. Do I have a shot? Did I miss anything? Income at $49,720. do I have a shot for the AMEX? Thanks

I know, but i've been doing a lot of research here and other websites, and people have been approved for AMEX after 5 yrs and even before 5 years.  I thought the 8 yr rule was the only one, but i guess it really a case by case basis on everyone's different credit.  Search on here and you'll find people getting the Delta AMEX or AMEX everyday 4 to 5 years post Ch7.I got an instant approval for a $5k Delta AmEx in December... 5 years after filing Ch 13.  They were not included in BR. I was denied the previous year. If you burnt them in BR it's a different story though...

    Hello MyFico Community,
I am trying to build a decent credit profile. Is there anything I should be doing or not doing to improve my Credit Profile? Is this a good plan? I'm still learning how to best utilize my portfolio. Are there other cards I should look at acquiring?  I appreciate any input.

What I'd do doesn't really matter.  These are not one-size-fits-all matters so each needs to determine his/her own strategy and tactics based on the individual's situation, goals, priorities, preferences, etc.  IMO you don't know what to do because you're not clear on these matters.  Very True, I am not clear but with the help of the community giving me things to consider I am getting there.
You need to define what you needs/want and then prioritize that list.  That will give you a list of critiera that you then use to select cards that suit you. Thanks. Good way to focus my thinking about it.
Rewards is a common criteria and if rewards matter to you then you need to look at your spend and where your money is going to select rewards with the most benefit to you. Since i’m going to be using a main CC, I’d rather have cash rewards first or rewards that are versatile for gift cards. I already have a travel card that works well for me so thats not that important.

AAof Credit:  Not sure about this Experian/Credit.com- 6.7 years. Credit Sesame says 1.8 months?  Thanks. Was wondering where they figured this. AAoA is just an average like any other average.  Add up the ages of the accounts and divide by the number of accounts.  Many find it easier to convert into months, calculate and then convert back into years.  You can use Excel and its date formulas if you don't want to do this manually.  There are also online AAoA calculators.  Experian is more likely to be correct.  CS is probably providing AAoOA.

Is this a good plan? You're really not leveraging a 0% offer if you're PIF'ing each month.  However, if you're not PIF'ing each month on cards without 0% offers then you're killing rewards.Okay this is confusing, would you mind clarifying? The Amex and QS have 0% interest for well into next year (not sure of exact date, I will look up again) so it would seem that it would not matter if i carry balance or pay in full until the real APR begins next year.
So whats the best way to utilize these as my main cards to get as much cash back(QS) and MR point as possible. Carry balance or pif, or does it not matter in this case for now?
     RandomSpirit wrote:
Are there other cards I should look at acquiring?  As with all other request you need to tell us what you need/want so we have something to use to narrow down the options for you.
Now, I am leaning towards low interest being the most important to me, secondly would be cash back.
    RandomSpirit wrote:
Was thinking about BoA Cash Rewards offer for 12.99 because of the lower interest rateHere's an example of why a prioritized list of criteria matters.  If the lowest possible interest is a priority above all else then you shouldn't be looking at rewards cards as they typically come with higher interest rates.  If you want the lowest possible APR you need to fins a barebones card.  They're offered with rates as low as 6.x% depending on what you qualify for. This is most important to me
That said, rewards and a low APR aren't mutually exclusive but typically rewards cards will come with a higher APR as you aren't getting something for nothing.  While I do try to get my APR's as low as possible you might want to consider why APR is a concern if you're paying in full. In case I ever have to carry a real balance. Not telling you what to do here but consdier such things when prioritizing your list.  For example: is a lower APR more important than the biggest rewards for your spend?

Honestly, I was thinking  to have a more diversified portfolio. I don;t have any Chase or City cards. So far we have:
    • 1 Low APR
    • 2-High rewards rate on non-category spend (Double Cash)
    • 4-Sign up bonus
    • 3-Diversity
Which is most important?  Which is least?  Where do the rest fall?  We can't tell you this.  You need to tell us.
Again, I'd recommend looking at your spend and ensuring that your card lineup maxmizes rewards on your spend.  The Double Cash is a good option for non category spend but if you haven't found higher rewards for a major spend category that you have then you might want to look into finding something for that category. Thanks for taking the time to offer your suggestions Tekeshi74. If gives me a lot consider.

  • What card should my friend start with?

My friend has been an Authorized User on my Capital Ome card for a nearly 10 months with perfect payment history and a 0% UTL. But that's all the credit she has. She wants to get one credit card on her own just to build her credit profile, but she leaves for the Air Force in a couple month so she definitely doesn't need anything fancy (her words).
I suggested one with no Annual Fee (she agrees) with simple rewards. I suggested to her Chase Freedom, Discover It, or AmEx Everyday. What do you guys (and gals) think? Does she have a chance with these cards?

    ray8806 wrote:
she leaves for the Air Force in a couple monthWhether or not they have any products of use to her right now she should join NFCU while she's eligible. As for a specific card, it will probably all depend on what she qualifies for at this point. If she can't get approved for unsecured then she may need to follow the standard suggestion of secured and/or a credit union with more lax approval criteria. ray8806 wrote:
Oops, btw, according to Credit Karma FAKO, her credit score with Equifax and Transunion is 733.Unfortunately, those VantageScores really don't mean anything unless she's applying with a creditor that uses VantageScore 3.0 for their decision. Even then, it's never just about score.

  • Error while executing the SOAP-XI-JDBC(syn) scenario

    Dear Forum,
We have done SOAP-XI-JDBC(synch) scenario with out BPM.
When we sent the request data from EP to Oracle database through XI, we got an error,Runtime in Message-Mapping transformation~.
com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException: Runtime in Message-Mapping transformation: Cannot produce target element /ns:Customer/customers. Check xml instance is valid for source xsd and target-field mapping fulfills requirements of target xsd at com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf3.AMappingProgram.start(AMappingProgram.java:291)
Exception message says that it is a mapping issue. But we got the responce data from database along with this message. In message monitoring we got the message processed successfully.
Now i am not able to understanding why it throughs an error Runtime in Message-Mapping transformatio~ first time ?
Pls revert me to fulfill this task successfully.
