Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards-APPROVED

I found these boards so helpful in deciding whether or not I should apply, so I thought I'd share my experience for any others who may be interested in this card.  All 3 of my scores are right around 650.  I have a 4 year old car repo, and a few 6 year old medical collections, other than that, everything recently is doing great.  I was approved last month for a $1000 CL on an Amex Everyday, which I was thrilled about, it's been my largest limit so far.  Have 4 other smaller cards.  I really want the points for SW and finally decided to just give it a try.  To my surprise, not only was I approved, I was approved with a $16,000 CL!!!  Never in a million years, especially after rebuilding after a tough couple of years, did I think I'd get approved, much less a limit that high.  Hope someone else finds this useful.

  • Chase Southwest and Citi Double Cash!

Two new cards in my wallet! Last Friday received an offer in the mail for Citi double cash. I responded to the offer and instantly approved with a credit limit of 1,500$.Yesterday i got an email offer for Chase Southwest. Since I'm almost always flying with Southwest and it was offering 50,000points as  a bonus after spending 2,000 in the first 3 months, I decided to apply! After applying a message appeared saying to call as soon as possible at 877-260-0087 etc. I called today morning and after verifying some info got approved for 2,500$!!! In terms of pulls, Chase pulled only EX and Citi both EX and EQ.  I now have 9 credit cards (5 new cards since June 2015: amex ED, amex bce, freedom, citi and southwest)and a total of 27,000$ in credit with a credit history of only 9 months! Annual salary around 55,000$.    EX fico: 660, 12 inquiries. TU fico 678. EQ i do not know but suppose it is higher than the rest cause i only have 5 inquiries there. Credit utilization: 26%Cards: bofa cash rewards sign visa 8,000$, chase freedom 3,500$, discover it 2,500$, cap 1 platinum 2,000$, cap 1 journey 1,500$, amex ED 4,500$, amex bce 1,000$, citi dc 1,500$ and chase southwest 2,500$.

Congratulations! Chase pulled both EX and EQ for both my Marriott and Hyatt cards earlier this year.Citi pulled both EX and EQ for the AAdvantage card I was just approved for.Oh well, they age off soon enough.

  • Walt Disney Visa rewards approved!

i decided to close my Marriott card since I didn't want to pay the AF for both it and my CSP so I decided to app for the Disney rewards no AF card and got approved for $4,000. Kind of shocked I got approved but I'm happy.

Congrats! My chase Disney premier rewards has a $49 annual fee. I guess I got the wrong one!Depends on spend level. My wife upgraded in March from the regular card to this one. 2% back on gas, restaruant, groceries, and Disney stuff. Not a bad deal as we go twice a year and our DVC membership gets put on it.  One needs to do the calculation to figure if it is a good deal. My wife also stated she would pay the $49 for her current card design.

  • Oops I did it again - NFCU Cash Rewards approval! And PLOC!

Congrats! My Cash Rewards card is my everyday card now. I put EVERYTHING on that card to rack up the cash back.

  • Amex or Chase for travel rewards

I am starting to travel a lot more these days. My fiance hasn't travelled abroad as much as I have so I am trying to take her to as many of the places on our mini bucket list as possible before we settle down and focus on a mortgage etc. My Mom lives in England and I would like to visit her at least once a year also.  My question is, I am already very familiar with the CSP/Freedom combo. But I am wondering if Amex has a similar combo that works just as well? Can you transfer points between cards like the PRG and ED points cards? Is it even worth it anyway? Would the PRG be the only card I would need for reward points? I will be applying for the Amex PRG (replacing my Amex Green) in the next few months and then deciding next year after the intro 12 months which card I want to keep out of the CSP/PRG.Something that really stands out to me is the 3x points on flights with the PRG but I don't really know how 'valuable' these points would be compared to getting 2x points in UR from my CSP. Also the new featured bonus categories like gas, groceries and dining are very attractive to me. I would also be utilizing at least 50% of the $100 travel credit each year too so the higher AF for the PRG card does not bother me; I just don't want to be paying both AF's as then I would be diluting any rewards too much. On the other hand I love Chases website/point redemption system and their 'Shop Through Chase' portal. I can tell this is going to be a hard decision for me so would appreciate some input from people who have experience with these cards etc. Thank you in advance

    TYREX wrote:
But I am wondering if Amex has a similar combo that works just as well?Depends on how well you can leverage the travel partners associated with each rewards program as that has an impact on rewards values. In my particular situaiton all of my travel is on United and I never travel on any of MR's travel partners because I live in a United fortress hub city.  United monopolizes 3 of the 5 terminals at our large airport and has gates in a 4th terminal as well.   That makes UR a clear choice for me.  YMMV. TYREX wrote:

Research redemptions with both programs.  You're going to have to look into redemptions with the travel partners and what the cash equivalents are for those rewards.  Run the numbers for your spend to compare.  Don't just rely on the earn rates or assumptions on a value per point.  I, for example, cannot redeem for the higher value for MR points so an MR point is not worth much to me.  If you can leverage the transfer partners properly you may be able to get more value per point. TYREX wrote:

You might be able to easily use 100%.  I'd suggest looking at FlyerTalk but you need to select an airline for the travel credit.  FT has a threads for the different airlines.  Definitely check the thread for the airline you would select. While I said that MR points aren't worth as much to me we have been trying out the platinum and easily used 100% of the $200 credit with United. TYREX wrote:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) Approval+CapOne QS1 CLI!

I am totally and completely in shock right now! TL;DR is at the bottom of the post! I'm only posting my credit life story (LOL) to show that it is completely possible to get in with a prime card really fast from a blank file (contrary to what I had originally believed before reading this forum). First, I would like to thank everyone here on the MyFICO forums, as I have read through SO many forum threads (even though I haven't posted much - haha). The advice has been invaluable! Also of note, I am just your regular Joe as far as income and things like that (Actually, a bit low in that regard - I'm doing well for someone my age, though), so no special treatment or anything...Maybe just pure luck in my case? Background: Started my credit journey with a completely blank credit file in February 2015 (I am 21). Was approved for Discover IT ($1250.00 SL) and CapitalOne QuickSilver One ($300.00 SL) - was also added as an AU on $500.00 Chase Freedom and applied for a card through Fifth Third Bank and Bank of America (also applied for Chase Freedom as my very first app before being added as the AU later on my SO's Freedom card). All three of those apps were denied due to no credit history (so something like 3 TU and 4 EQ inquires - IDK about EX). Chase told me to get some cards and apply again in about a year (they were nice about it, though!). I was not happy with Fifth Third's inflexibility (in retrospect, I might have been acting a bit spoiled, but I was annoyed that Fifth Third knew my account history and all they could offer was a secured card with nothing going for it), so I switched my accounts to Chase. Fast forward to the last week of July - I had been checking the luv button for Discover sporadically since I received that card, but it always wanted an HP, so I never went through with it. Also, I was enrolled in the Credit Steps program with CapOne, so I didn't think to look for a CLI until that was up (sixth statement would have early August). On July 28th, my FICO score updated on Discover's website, and it showed me having a 733 TU (pretty much spot on with Credit Karma). I went ahead and pressed the luv buttons on Discover and CapOne, and got a $3000.00 CLI for Discover and $500.00 for CapOne - both with just SPs (I also received an additional $500.00 CLI for CapOne for the Credit Steps program when my sixth statement cut earlier this month). I checked Chase's prequal site and had prequals for Freedom and Slate w/ 22.99% APRs (ewwwww). I had made my mind up to wait until early 2016 before applying for anything else... Over the past week, Chase's prequal site updated and showed me with 18.99% APR for Freedom (the midtier rate for that card) and popped up with Slate and CSP as well - I had zero clue what would have changed for the site to give me better rates and a new offer...And I was skeptical (although I know that Chase's prequals are pretty solid). I waited over the past week to see if CK would update to show if any credit report would show my higher limits - Just today, CapOne updated EQ, but no Discover CLI was being reported yet. I went into a Chase branch a few days ago and the banker told me that I had prequals for Slate, CSP, and UnitedMileagePlus Club ($450 AF - NO THANK YOU) and United MileagePlus Explorer...Weird thing was that the banker said that no Freedom prequal was showing... I didn't apply for anything and went home. I really want the CSP+Freedom combo, so after doing research on MyFICO for hours and pacing back and forth, I decided to just take the plunge and apply for CSP now. I closed my eyes waiting for the application page to submit - haha...And it came back with an instant approval for $7500.00! I am so happy!!! I was expecting the further review message if not a complete denial! I am debating whether to apply for Freedom now or not...I am thinking that I will wait for the Freedom $200 bonus to come back (it appears that they do it in May and November) and will apply for it then, just because Chase is not guaranteed to group HPs together for multiple apps. I have a few observations: 1) As has been established, Chase's prequals are apparently rock solid for the most part2) While I do have my bank accounts with Chase, I am just a regular Joe - I've got a few thousand in checking and savings, but no deep relationships such as investments or anything. I was always under the impression that CSP was for wealthier people (I've seen some peoples' incomes posted on these forums, and I'm like at most of them) - apparently income isn't as big a deal as I thought.3) My highest credit line was $4250.00, but from what I can tell, it hasn't reported, so I had a $1300.00 (to EQ only, otherwise only $300.00) and a $1250.00 credit line. I was reading that Chase does not like to be the guinea pig in offering higher limits, and that you generally need a card with at least a $5k limit (or stellar credit history) - I have neither, and my AAoA is only the 6 months or so, so IDK if I'm just a fluke or if Chase was just feeling the love. Not only that, but they gave me more than the minimum SL for the card! I thought that it would take me a year or more to get in as a primary cardholder with Chase (they told me to get some cards and apply in a year when I talked to them about my denied Freedom app earlier this year)...and even then, I was thinking that just Freedom would be a good start. Now I've got three fantastic cards just six months after starting my credit journey! Next steps are to get CLIs and to maybe have the QS1 PC'd to a QS w/ no AF. TL;DR: Approved for Chase Sapphire Preferred with a $7500.00 SL - also received two $500.00 CLIs for CapitalOne QuickSilver One (one from Credit Steps). All of this on top of the $3000.00 CLI received for Discover IT less than a month ago! Note that my file is thin (AAoA is just 6 months), and I was starting from a blank file. I'm over the moon!

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! @Monoglot: I was initially apprehensive about the AF for CSP, and I wondered if I should wait. The thing is that I'm going to be taking a big vacation within the next month, and I'm going to start transitioning more of my monthly spending over to credit cards anyway, ao hopefully I'll end up ahead. Worst case scenario,  I can always try to PC to Freedom if I feel like it's not worth it.  As far as the Discover CLI - yes, the SP CLI went through right away once I noticed that my FICO score had updated on their site. It pulled the score from July 20th - I didn't notice the update until the 28th, but once I did, it was like magic! Up until that point, Discover had always wanted an HP. Also, I hadn't really put much spending on Discover (about $2k from Feb-July), but they still took me from $1250.00 to $4250.00.  Now I've just gotta wait for Freedom. I'm hoping that they'll have the $200 promotion closer to the end of the year. If I knew that Chase would group HPs for multiple apps, I'd go for it, but since it's hit and miss with them, I guess I'll wait. I'm just trying to get in with CSP and Freedom before I hit my 5 credit/24 month mark.

  • CSP - Can I get it? Should I get it?

Hello, everyone.  I have some questions for the community.  I am considering applying for the CSP later this fall.  My current score on CK is ~725 and should be increasing once I pay off an approx. 30% utilization on my Chase Southwest card from hitting the sign up bonus spend.  I have 5 Hard INQ on my scores from April-May from acquired the Freedom, Double Cash (and an immediate CLI request), Quicksilver, and Southwest cards.  I was in the 750-770 range with a 12 year old BB&T Platinum Visa and a 1.5 year old Amex BCE prior to these cards. I am interested in the CSP for the sign up bonus and making it my everyday dining card.  With SWA being my airline of travel, the transfer of points and pairing with Freedom also seems attractive.  Currently, dining goes to my Double Cash.  I was thinking that early November would be a good opportunity for me to have the spending necessary to hit the $4,000 in 3 months on the CSP due to a vacation and the holidays.   My current allocation is:$125/month Gas - Freedom (BCE in non 5% quarters)$150-$200/month Supermarkets - BCE$200-$250/month Dining Out - Double Cash (probably twice that if you include bars, which I presume code as dining out on CSP?)minimal Amazon - Double CashMGM hotels and Southwest Travel - SW Visa$90/month Cell - BB&T just to have something hit my oldest line$75-$100/month Uber - QSOther - Double Cash  My questions are: 1.  Applying in late Oct/early Nov, would these INQs in April-May result in a likely decline from Chase?2.  Am I starting to spread myself too thin?  If I app CSP, I'd have Double Cash that I'd only use for haircuts and occasional online shopping really.  And the QS wouldn't get anything other than a small recurring subscription in a year once this Uber deal falls off.3.  Is there a case to be made for apping CSP and then canceling the Southwest card just before the fee hits?  My normal vacation spot is Vegas, so the MGM hotels pay 2x points and the anniversary bonus essentially offsets the AF, so I'm a bit inclined to keep it since SWA is my normal airline. Thanks for any advice.

I've heard that chase is anal about inquiries, and that anymore than 5 can get you denied. I don't know if it's 5 or more or more than 5, or if it's really true. Keep us updated though, Im also looking to get this card in the near future as a daily driver. From what I've read its not specifically the inquires but new accounts. More than 5 in the previous 2 years is the general consensus. That makes sense, 5 inquiries would be pretty strict. I got a hard pull from opening a penfed banking account, would that count as a new account, even though it's not credit? No, that does not count as a new account.  This policy of Chase is about new credit card accounts.  If you have more than 5 new ones in the past 24 months, they will not approve you for the CSP, Freedom or Slate.  You still can be approved for their co branded cards.

  • One year down!

Technically my 1st year of filing was in April, but today marks the 1 year since discharge.   I am amazed that I made it as far as I have.  I am not going to say my journey has been flawless, as I totally deviated from the 2 years to 700 thread.   Below I hope to give you an idea of the last year and hopefully it can be found useful to those of you who are considering filing for bankruptcy, just filed for bankruptcy, or even as a critique for those that have been through this and have suggestions for me for the coming years. First, I'll start with MyFICO charts of my score progress for the past year.   Equifax  Transunion   Experian      Credit Report Card     Credit Account since Bankruptcy Discharge  July 2014 - Credit One   -  Approved for $300 unsecured.   Auto CLI to $500 one month later. August 2014 - BCU Secured Card   -  Opened account with $150 secured deposit. February 2015 - Barclaycard Rewards, Approved for $1300 Unsecured- BCU Secured Card   -   Increased to $400 March  2015 - Opened Paypal Credit Account   $1000- Opened Newegg Credit Account   $2000- Opened Amazon Credit Account  $900  April 2015 - Approved for Discover It Chrome Student card  $500 May 2015 - Approved for Capital One Venture Signature card $10,000- Approved for Capital One Quicksilver Platinum card  $3000- Approved for Barclaycard Apple Rewards card $2000- Approved for BCU Cash Rewards card $1000 July 2015 - Closed Credit One card,  declined all counter offers they threw at me to stay.   (6mn APR reduction and reduced AF @ $24/6 mn)- Preapproved for BCU Auto Loan, $14.3k  with 3% APR for a 2014/2015 new car purchased through their program.  Otherwise, 3.75% APR.- Approved for second Capital One Venture Signature card $10,000    Credit Utilization

"I was reviewing your information and you truly seem to have a handle on this... I am writing because I want to know how it is that you got so much unsecured credit so fast? I am 1yr past filing this July 2015 but my discharge was in Nov.2014 so I still have a few months to go for that. Still, with secured cards on my report I can't seem to get an unsecured credit and I'm not sure why.. I've had an auto loan that so far I've paid since last August and which I just refinanced from a 19% apr to a 5% but other than that I haven't had any luck with unsecured credit cards.. not even with CapOne..." I started with two cards.  My first one was Credit One and then I got a secured card as well.  Due to processing times, I actually got the Secured card at the beginning of August of last year, but they were both about the same age. I used them and paid them off right away, and let one report $3 or so each month.  But the point was I PIF before it reported down to $3 on one card.  The others always report $0. BCU has thrown me off a little bit, they have a due date of the 1st but don't generate a statement until the 6th or so.   I had me card paid off by the 1st but had paid a few bills between the 1st - 6th so it reported a balance on my credit report.  (Not a large one, but enough to be about 9% util.) I wasn't able to get Capital One at all until May, because I was on their internal no-go list for a year.   The first card I got back after BK was a Venture card!!! I believe a plus on my side is that I have no debt, other than $100 reporting out of the $19k or so reported in tradelines.   I have also choosen not to go into debt.  I was curious about an auto loan and asked my CU what I'd qualify for.  But I don't think I want to go into debt right now.  I can manage what I have right now and am comfortable.  Adding an auto loan isn't necessary and I feel that going into debt unnecessarily won't be of benefit to me.

  • Cash back Card what are your thoughts.

I wanted to get some feedback of what my next reward card should be.  I was interested in either a chase freedom or a Discover.   I also did some research on the amex blue preferred.  I dont like the option of salle mae. I just wanted 1 last good reward card and this will probably be a while before  get.  I wanted to know which is hard to get.  I am thinking the discover card is the hardest.

Between Freedom and Discover, go for Discover. They are much better with CLIs and APR reductions etc vs Chase. The reward categories during the year are less specific than Freedom's (Freedom often does just Lowe's or just Amazon; Discover is less restrictive). You get a free FICO with Discover. They also have a great Discover Deals mall with high percentages off on many websites. Pretty much comparing the two on their own I feel Discover blows Freedom out of the water. Freedom you are pretty unlikely to see much CLI growth with and you will never see an APR reduction.thats good to know thank because generally my overall spending is food, gas and some retail not a lot. once and a while i do a auto repair purchase. I originally wanted a chase freedom but now that i am looking at my spending habits and what i use my card for it might not be a good fit for me and my lifestyle. The only i might consider is the amex blue preferred. The Blue Cash Preferred is a great option if you spend enough to justify the fee. 6% on groceries is pretty difficult to beat.  yeIts funny how any card was my goal when  i started and i always wanted a chase freedom but i cant keep up with the categories.  now im like i only use my card for gas and groceries and back to school auto repairs, and utility bills ! Can anyone help with my Apple TV

I've also try to change the codec: high quality, professional and bests
Now You got it mixed up.
    • Codec is the way Your original material is built e.g. type of .mpeg2 on a DVD disk or streamingDV .dv from miniDV tape Cameras etc.
.mp4 or .avi or .mov is no codecs it's container that can hold a veraity of codecs
    • Encoding - is a totally different animal - it's the other way around - How iDVD will create the .mpeg2 code that are to be on Your DVD disk and this process can be made with different bit-stream and by analyzing twice optimice this code for rapid movements in the movie so that it doesn't break up in pixles when care-chase or rapid panaorama movements.
    I use
    • streamingDV from my miniDV tape Camera
    • .jpg photos - no .bmp
    • .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz (Audio-CD) - no .mp3 or other
and encodes only as Pro Quality - but that's me - have time - don't like to re-try

  • Denied for Amex ED Preferred

I was denied for an Amex EDP about one month ago, shortly after being approved for the Chase Freedom for $3k. A few weeks later I was approved for the CSP for $5k, and I recently got a $1,000 CLI from Cap1 from their Credit Steps program. That's brought my limits up from $2k between three cards (including a Cap1 secured card I cancelled after getting the Chase cards and a $600 credit union cc) to about $9.9k in the past month! Now, about the Amex denial:  Factors that contributed to being denied were:Number of trades (?) EXFico score at the time (679 EX)Number of inquiries, type and recencyAmount of available credit being too lowNumber of delinquent accounts (paid off two collections, one being a medical bill, back in May)No recent loan accountsToo few accounts paid as agreedTime since last delinquency too recent or unknownToo many inquiries last 12 months (Can't be more than 4-5, if that) Anyway, my current scores sit at 678 EQ, 618 TU, and 683 EX. FAKO scores 713TU, 714EQ. I'd like to shoot for the Amex ED in a few months, seeing how maybe I was too bold going for the EDP. Though at the same time, considering I got the two cards I wanted most (Freedom and Sapphire), maybe I should just hang loose and let those accounts build my score up before applying for anything else.  Cards I've applied for since June: AAdvantage Citi (denied), Chase Freedom and Sapphire (approved!) and Amex EDP (denied) Suggestions??!! Thank you

Based on the denial reasons I believe it is as you stated yourself "Though at the same time, considering I got the two cards I wanted most (Freedom and Sapphire), maybe I should just hang loose and let those accounts build my score up before applying for anything else."
Also, let inquiries age and just manage what you have properly..IIRC seems like the Amex revolvers supposedly have more stringent underwriting standards last I heard...so possibly the choice of card was a problem, not sure if much diff,ED or EDP seems they'd have the same req.
I am by no means an expert and I can't wait to see what some of them have to say....
Congrats on your approvals, welcome 2 the forum, the Freedom & Sapphire fams

  • Is it normal for CHASE to ask for documentation before giving a decision on their Southwest card?

I applied for the Southwest card by CHASE and I received a letter in the mail this week asking for verification of my date of birth to be mailed to them before a decision can be made on rather they will approve or deny my application. Is this normal?  Has anyone else ever experience this? If so what was your outcome? I would think this is a good sign and; an approval is coming but I’m not sure.

    Solid_Construction wrote:
Thanks FinStar, would you happen to know if this means a “ approval" is coming my way since CHASE wanted more information?Sure, this is definitely pending approval once you supply the docs they requested.  An item to keep in mind, be patient on the verification process since it can take a few days or a week or so.  If you have a Chase banking relationship, stop by the branch and have the banker fax or scan the documents and have them forward to the card services verifications department.  Otherwise, be sure to fax them the info or snai-mail as requested (get receipt confirmation).

  • Chase - Getting Approved with Old Charge Off

So back about 10 years ago, while in college, I had a credit card and checking account with Chase. I was irresponsible and let the card go unpaid, and it eventually was charged off and sold to a collection agency. Here I am, 10 years later, with a great credit record, Fico in the 750s, and about 10 current credit card accounts with very low utilization. In the past 12 months, I have been denied for two different Chase cards, the CSP and Ritz cards (about 5 months apart). When I was denied for the 2nd, I called and spoke with an agent who explained to me that there was an old charge off shown in their system for $3XX and that was the reason for the denial. I offered to pay the charge off and take care of it, but they said they could no longer accept payment as it was sold to a collection agency. The woman on the phone suggested I go into a branch and see if they could help me. I did, and they could not, all they did was get someone on the phone at Chase and they told me the same thing they did when I was denied. Basically they explained I have no options to make it right with Chase and gave me no options as to a way to rebuild my relationship with the bank.  My question for you guys here at the forum is whether or not there is anything I can do to repaid this relationship so I can get some Chase cards. My first thought was to open a checking account to build some credibility. The other thought I had was to open a secured credit card, although that seems a bit absurd given that i have never been declined for any other card other than these 2 from Chase. I am more than willing to do it, but wasn't sure if that would be necessary. What would you guys recommend? My main goal is to be able to get a Southwest card (or 2) in about 6 months, and I am willing to do whatever it takes. Thanks in advance for your help!

Was trying a 2nd recon for a Hyatt card. The guy was really professional. He said I had a $500 slate charge off back in 2003 (which who knows what providian or family member did this to me, its buggin me) anyway, he said, we approved you for a $5k Chase IHG card. We want to see some repayment history with you first for a few months before we consider you for another card. He also said I might want a chase freedom or sapphire card some day (I had applied for the freedom in april and december of 2014). Even though I probably wont ever go for those cards, although they make a great combo. He assured me as long as I havent opened  several new accounts recently I would definitely be approved if my score continues to go up.  He also said that the 5 new accouts in 2 years thing is not always 100% and that he recon's people from time to time and approves them if their scores/history warrant that type of card. I also would like to add that chase is picky from person to person. Their cobranded cards are easier to get than their non's. I never had this CO thing mentioned to me before when I was denied the freedom. They said I had an unclosed checking account, and  owed $75. I promptly paid that, and recon'd twice, still do dice.  Also when I recon'd the IHG card the first time I was told way too many accounts, and not enough experience with a high limit card. Umm ok whatever, why can I go to ANY other bank and get a card then? Then called back the next day, instant approval for 5k IHG world mastercard.  I will say, it probably wouldn't hurt to double app with them when you are ready. Some may disagree with this. But with chase theres always a chance of that 1 inquiry becoming two. And why not go for two different products that could improve your odds of getting one that the rep feels is more appropriate, or maybe even get the 2nd one approved later that same day! As long as your income supports the CSP (40k+/yr) then you should be fine? But others could chime in here regarding the underwriting. Maybe go for a cobranded 1st, then freedom 2nd, then csp 3rd.

  • Chase Freedom Approval after being declined 2 months ago!

I have been a customer of Chase for over 20 years.  In April, I was declined for a Chase Freedom card.  Given the many accounts that I had with Chase, investments, etc. and my score was 695 pretty much across the board, I was shocked!  Recently Chase began soliciting feedback from their customers "We Are Listening" and encourage feedback from prior experiences or suggestions.  Of course I responded and recommended that the CC application should include information regarding current customers, etc.  I received a call from Chase and was asked to go to a branch and resubmit my application ( it was over 30 days old by now).  I was told that the branch rep would "assist" in submitting my application.  Within 24 hours I was approved for a $5,000 Freedom card!

  • Approved for Chase Freedom!

I started the credit rebuilding process last year and have taken my scores from the high 500's to the low 700's in that time. I guess my scores are pretty good now but until today I've never been approved for a regular credit card that wasn't secured! I was really hesitant to apply actually, then they approved me right away and I'm so happy! My current scores, per MPM, are around 670, but that's a recent hit due to another new account I opened mid-July (Amazon Store Card). I was worried that would lead to my denial by Chase but chose to apply anyway. I'm an AU on my dad's Chase Slate, and based on posts on this forum it seems like their reconsideration process is pretty generous with approvals. I figured there was little harm since I could point out my responsible handling of my AU account if I had to call. I now have: CapOne Secured, $500 limitChase Slate (Authorized User), $3200 limitBofA Cashback, $2000 limitAmazon Store Card, $1200 limitChase Freedom, $2200 limitThese last few weeks have been amazing credit-wise, actually... First BofA returned my deposit for their secured card, increased my limit and upgraded me to Cash Rewards, then I managed to get the Amazon Store Card (after being rejected just over a year ago), and now this! So pleased, and very excited to cancel my stupid CapOne Secured. Thanks for listening

    Congrats
