Suggested Quicktime settings for HD export

Hi
Hoping some one can help? I Would like to retain best possible quality from my High Dev camcorder. I gather the best route is to use export> Quicktime but what I would like to know are the best "settings" to use. I live in the UK so does PAL have a part in it?
I intend to copy the completed project to my portable HD drive then copy that to the HD drive on My xbox 360 to hopefully watch a higher quality home movie than If i was to burn to DVD.
Thanks
Kier

Sorry for the duplicate reponses. Not sure what happened there.
I really don't get how pal only does certain settings considering my HV20 is a pal camera and supports 1080i. Why would the compression be different. I am being so thick about this sorry.
By the way I have just compared 2 projects. 1 using the share to media option and the other with the 720p from quicktime.
There really isn't that much difference. I am viewing on a 720 pal tv. I did a shorter clip for a friends using the quicktime export and there was a big difference. My project was 20 mins where as the that one was 3 minutes so the compression was obviously less.

  • Best Quicktime settings for Video Encoder?

This is to reiterate the issue originally posted under
    this
    topic.
Summary: CS3 encoded FLV (using Quicktime movie as source)
stops playing halfway through (likely related to the audio)...
Solution: Set audio of Quicktime movie to 44.100 kHz (not
22.050) sample rate before encoding to FLV.
Continued Issue: Is Adobe working on a fix to the Flash
Video Encoder so that all Quicktime settings are supported?
Question: Any recommendations for the "best" Quicktime
video/audio settings (codecs, frame rate, etc.) for FLV encoding to
optimize quality and minimize file size?

    Voddie,
I'm definitely no expert; so if others have better info, I
hope they will post too. And the guidance below is from a Mac
    perspective.
    Using
Quicktime Pro, you can export each movie and adjust the
Options. Under the Quicktime Options (see this
    screen
    image
for the two settings windows that you will access), the Sound
Options is where you'll set the sample rate to 44.100 kHz, then
    save the file(s).
If Quicktime Pro is not available, you might look into
    ffmpegX
as an option (though I have not tried this myself).
Note: I read that for version MX, it was recommended that the
Quicktime sound be uncompressed, or encoded using ALaw 2:1 or ADPCM
codecs. I'm not sure if this is true for CS3. Again, I hope others
    will chime in.

  • Quicktime Settings for Sequence

Oh, I'm quite disappointed. Having worked with FinalCut Pro for many years on my G4 Macs without problems, I needed the new software for my new Intel iMac. I thought it would be enough to buy FCE, but I miss hardly the Quicktime Video Settings for the sequence, which made an easy workflow with different formats. A lot of material waits in HD Foto-JPEG, others in H264. Do I have to render all these clips into Apple Intermediate Codec before I can start editing? This is a real kickback. Or are there hidden tricks? I'm still using Quicktime 7 Pro, so the codecs must be there anywhere.
    Thanks for any hints!
    Ingolf01

Thanks for reply. I found out that I'm able to edit by switching to "low" video playback settings, rendering follows anyway. No fun at all, as well as converting all raw material.
But - no; I had always good results by matching the sequence settings close to the original material, since my camera is recording QuickTime .movs with Photo-JPEG compression. For future projects I can of course switch to AVCHD format, but it's no better quality.

  • FCPX settings for fastest export?

    Hi There
What do you think are the best settings for the fastest export of a media file using FCPX?
Excluding mobile or 3pg, would creating a lower quality media file = faster export times?
These files are for video sharing sites.
    Thank you in advance! *N.

Thanks Tom, that makes more sense to me.
I have been trying for the last 5 hours to get a test video up to YouTube via FCPX
But it gets to the same processing point and times-out.
    Screenshot attached, if I'm lucky..!
I tested the clip with imovie (hate the poor quality) and it processed fine.
Do you think Apple would be so silly as to prohibit publishing to YouTube with their trial copy of the software? Could that be the problem do you think?
I'm not touching any of the presets, I deleted all uploads and test videos and uploaded again from the camera. The preset project properties showed 1080i this time rather than the 720. I tried to upload with both settings, but neither worked.
I can't think what else to do.
    Regards from Peter.

  • Excise Invoice Settings for Indirect Exports (ARE-1)

    Dear All,
When we create Billing doucment for Indirect or merchant exports and prepare J1IIN whith reference to Billing doc, we go to Calculate Tax / Utilization tab, where we has to choose deemed export. By default, on clicking the pencil, the blue colour is on the deemed one.
As we select deemed export , the system allow us to make only ARE-3 document.
I want to create ARE1 document for Merchant Export (CT-1 Bond). So that we can select export under bond. Can anyone tell me the customization setting for creating ARE1 for Merchant Export.
    Best regards,
    Subrat

    Dear Subrat
If you want to have "Exports under Bond", Go to IMG - Logistics-General --> Tax on Goods Movements --> India --> Business Transactions --> Outgoing Excise Invoices --> Maintain Default Excise Groups and Series Groups.
Here for the combination of your sales area, shipping point, plant, excise group and series group, maintain "B" for the tab "Export".

  • Help on settings for slideshow export. Please!

I could really use some help on this one, I’m new at this.
My imovie project is a slideshow plus audio. There will be still photos, opening titles, transitions, jpegs with text created in PPT and closing credits. The show will be 40+ minutes long. I then need to make a master copy of the finished product and burn it to a DVD for subsequent DVD PAL printing.
My question is: what export settings would be best to produce this master copy? I have had problems with exports in the past with other smaller slideshows using Expert settings >Movie to Quicktime.
I feel a bit pressured in this project and want to do a test run before the real deal.
    Thank you,
    Jenifer J.

    Thanks for the response Ian.
I have had some problems in the past with exporting Expert Settings > Movie to QuickTime Movie that produced a stuttering first title frame and jerky transitions. Have you any experience with the export you suggested using title frames and stills? I am also wondering about the maximum length of the piece using this export. I am thinking my slideshow will be about 40 minutes. Feel free to give me any information or advice that seems obvious to you, but that I may not know!
    thanks for your help,
    Jenifer J.

  • Recommended Quicktime settings for web-use

    I am preparing a standard definition video ( 640 x 480 )
about 7 minutes long to be used on a website.
Am I alright with H. 264 export as a Quicktime .mov file,
or are there other settings / means of compression that
    would be more favorable.
It is an older version of Final Cut - 5.1.4, and I am not seeing
    anything for Flash, etc.
Thanks for any help / tips,

  • Quicktime settings for future transcode to Blu-Ray & DVD in Encore

Hi, I'm asking this here because I think this is where the best knowledge on the subject is. I'm making a slideshow video in Fotomagico that I hope to author to Blu-Ray and DVD in Adobe Encore. I know that it will have to be transcoded in Encore so I'm wondering what will be the best output settings when I make the original video file in Quicktime. This has been created at 1920x1080, 60fps
Some specific options that have me confused:
Frame rate: leave at 60 or not. From my understanding, blu-ray 1080p is 23.97fps and DVD is 29.97?
Compression codec: Options include AIC, ProRes, MPEG-4, H-264, etc. I have no idea what will work best?
Or, should I send a file that doesn't need transcoding? Encore calls these elementary streams and apparently they have to match Blu-Ray/DVD spec and have no audio in the file. Is there a way to make this (I assume H-264 or MPEG-2) in Quicktime?
    Thanks for any tips!!!

  • Quicktime settings for web

I am making timelapse movies from a series of 5mp stills. What settings should I use for putting 30sec movies on the internet. I tried resizing in photoshop down to 320x240 about 15k per photo and it looks awful.

A 15 KB image file is kinda small by 2006 standards but if the file looked OK when viewed with Photoshop it should look the same in your Image Sequence .mov file made using QuickTime Pro.
Did you use the "Web safe" .jpg format in Photoshop or another file format (like .psd)?
Try these steps as a workaround:
Create your folder of sequentially named files using the .jpg format. Size them to 640X480 and target a file size in the 30 to 50 KB range.
If these look good in PS you can import to QuickTime. But here is the "trick":
Use a "Frames per Second" rate of 10 seconds per frame. Sounds odd but we can fix the file later.
Now you have a 640X480 .mov file that is encoded using the Photo-JPEG video codec that needs some more work.
Open any audio file and "cut" exactly 30 seconds. Use the right left arrow keys to "fine tune" and view the Movie Info window to confirm it's 30 seconds.
Save this as a new file (.mov).
Open your 300 second "video" movie and select all (Control-A) and then copy (Control-C).
Switch to your 30 second audio .mov file, select all and choose "Add to Selection & Scale (Edit menu).
Open the Movie Properties window (Control-J) and highlight the audio track. "Delete" the track.
Using the same Movie Properties window highlight the video track and use the "Visual Settings" to adjust the dimensions back down to 320X240.
Save As and check the box for "Self-Contained".
This should now give you a 320X240 "video" running at 30 fps. It should be in the 200-300 KB file size range.

  • Custom Quicktime pro export settings for iPhone

I want to custom export from Quicktime Pro, using h.264 in an mpeg4 container with a low data rate (about 400kb) and smaller size (400x220)
It imports into iTunes fine, but won't sync to my iPhone (error message: 'xxx' was not copied to the iPhone 'xxx' because it cannot be played on this iPhone.)
I've tried the Quicktime Pro preset called 'movie to iPhone', and it works fine: the movie copies to my iPhone. The filesize though, is far bigger than I know I can get it down to with custom settings.
I just can't get it to load onto my iPhone.
    What am I missing?

You've got Tiger and Automator! Learn how to use them help you make some "presets".
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/
You could also "hack" the .plist files found in the QuickTime Player.app and edit away.
Control-click on the QuickTime Player and choose "Show Package Contents". Inside the resources folder are a number of .plist files for presets. If you have the Developer Tools installed a double click on a .plist should open the Property List Editor. Change the settings to your liking, but beware.
I use Automator as either a "workflow" on a stand alone "application". Workflows can be triggered by a control click on a file where the "apps" act like AppleScript "Droplets". Drag a file to the droplet and let the application do its thing.
QuickTime Pro stores the "Most Recently Used" settings for many exports. These would be easy to re-construct or edit to allow you to create dozens of different "presets". Save each as an application (naming them may be troublesome) using Automator.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on Mac?
Export your Timeline content to a .mp4 file, using export settings which have been customized under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the export's preset.
See Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and .mp4 category. The exported file is then uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
If you post the properties of your source video and project settings, I will suggest the settings for the Timeline content export to file saved to the computer

  • PSE9 - import / open settings for jpegs - are there any?

    Hi all,
I'm a LR3 user mainly so have very little idea about PSE9 but my Dad's Panasonic Lumix FS10 takes all images at 180dpi and this cannot be altered.
Is there any way of getting Elements 9 to alter the resolution that it immediately displays the images at, as unlike LR3 there doesn't appear to be any 'export' facility where you can batch export loads of images and have individual 'save' settings for each export.
Altering each and every image to 72dpi before saving as jpeg is a complete pain in the whatnots.
I've tried the batch convert option for all open files but it saves a copy of each file which ends up bigger than the original!
    Many thanks in advance.
    Dave.

DPI is an arbitrary number set by the camera manufacturer.  Some cameras show 180, some 240, some none, which  is defaulted to 72.  The file size is not influenced by it.  DPI = dots per inch is only relevant for printing and should be referred to as PPI (pixels per inch).  The really important values are the pixel dimensions of an image.  Of course, the file size is also dependent on the picture quality and compression algorithms.  If you 'converted' from 180 to 72 and afterward had a smaller file size, then a additional compression must have taken place, which would have lessened the images' quality.
    Juergen
    Thanks for this Juergen,
are we now heading to the "eye of the beholder" scenario though?
If the images 95% of the time are going to be used for posting on the internet / viewing on PC monitor use (this being maxed out at 72dpi), and no image quality loss can be seen between the 2 (72dpi & 180dpi) files, the user may as well stick with the 72dpi conversions and have smaller files then?
When the user normally then reduces the image dimensions to 1200px on the longest side, surely the 72dpi verisons will be better for them?
Granted as I mentioned before, the images may get used for printing once in a while, but again, I use my full-sized images at 72dpi and can get pin sharp A4s out of them whenever I want.

  • Best settings for film based PAL to MPEG2?

There's a fair amount of useful information online regarding the best settings for film based NTSC footage export etc but I'm unable to find anything regarding the best Compressor settings for the export of MPEG2 from PAL video from a 25 frames per second film sourced master.
    Can anybody help?

Okay, so after reading heaps of stuff on interlacing and progressive, my head is hurting. Since my 1080i50 Pal footage captures into Final cut interlaced and setting field dominance to NONE doesn't do much, I realise I need to de-interlace in an another application. Ken Stone has a great example of what to do in compressor though I dont have the current version (3) and am not sure how to reinterpret this for Compressor 2. I had a go without much luck. I am in the process of trying to use MPEG Streamclip to deinterlace and trying getting the right settings. Will see how that goes. I also have tried using JES deinterlacer but also wasnt sure about settings etc with this application either.
Which is the best to use and what settings should I set. I wish to use my footage for watching on our macs primarily and also from our mac server which is hooked up to our hdtv. I can then convert to other formats for iphones and web etc. But my main problem is this interlacing issue. I have a nice new HDV camera but it certainly isnt looking too much better atm than my old dv footage.
    PLEASE help!
