Suggested XCode feature

I had an astoundingly difficult time trying to get XCode to stop giving "No such file or directory" errors for things which quite obviously did exist.
I eventually figured out what was wrong when I tried to copy/paste the Header Search Paths line to this forum field, and it turned out there was some hidden stuff in there, probably following a return. Didn't show up anywhere until I tried to copy out the line.
Bottom line, though, in true Mac style, I really wish XCode had a button which the user could press when a "No such file or directory" error appears which allows the user to say, "It does too exist, and it's right here. Fix yourself accordingly."
Along the same lines, it took me quite a long time to realize that one had to drop static libraries into the project in order to link with them. It may seem like a clever approach, but it needs to be far better documented.....

You can always show the verbose output when Xcode is running. Then, if something really wild showed up in the "-I" part of gcc, you would know it.
To use Xcode, it is best to know a little about how gcc works. Xcode is nothing but a fancy replacement for "make" with a text editor. There are multiple ways to get a static library to link with a project.
Actually, static libraries are pretty rare these days. Most things are dynamic libraries. It is a bit of a long story why this is, but it is probably better to learn how to do dynamic libraries and frameworks instead of static libraries.

  • Suggest a feature page results in undeliverable mail

I've been trying to submit a feature request, but all I get is an email response that my submission could not be delivered. Since bug reporting doesn't seem to include bugs in their website/mail delivery, I figured posting here might get some response.
Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

    The Actual feature request was…

Brief title for your desired feature: Table Sort
How would you like the feature to work?
Have a sort icon show in table headers and be able to choose multiple columns to sort the table by.
Why is this feature important to you?
Apartment directories often have the same info twice, once sorted by Apartment Number then Last Name then First Name, and a second table is used sorted by Last Name then First Name then Apartment Number.
Having to create two import files with the sort criteria and import each as a table then format each table is inefficient. Better to import single table, format, then make as many duplicates as necessary and change sorting within InDesign.

I'm afraid sending me to the same page that I am reporting as having a problem is no solution. My fault since I didn't specify Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form as where I was getting the results I mentioned, but the title of my post should have made it easy to make that connection
(Suggest a feature page results in undeliverable mail)
Yes, I used the real form on the real web page and got nothing useful for my effort… and that hasn't changed yet.

  • Suggestion for feature

I use iTunes on my work pc solely for putting music on my iPod .
Yesterday I bought my first songs on ITMS and wanted to transfer them to my iPod.
When dragging and trying to drop the songs onto the iPod nothing happened.
Much later I found out that my work PC was not yet authorized to play songs bought with my ITMS account.
The thing I find a bit odd is how to authorize the pc - namely by playing a piece of purchased music. This seems an odd action since I don't even have speakers on the computer.
My suggestion for a new feature is to: show the 'Authorize this computer' when the user attempts to drop a purchased song onto the iPod - or at least display a message stating what is happening and why it is not possible at the moment - and what to do about it.
    Sincerely,
    /morten

I think this message should've been posted in the Using iTunes forum. This is the Using iTunes Music Store forum.

  • Suggested New Feature to Photoshop Clipping Path Lines

I've been using Photoshop for 20 years, and now that I'm 51 yrs old I have an increasingly hard time seeing the thin clipping path line if it is on a dark texture.  Yes, I have had my eyes checked very recently, and yes, I do need eyeglasses when working on the computer now.  I would like to suggest that Adobe consider adding a feature that allows a user to choose line weight and color.  It would really be helpful.  Age has certainly taken it's toll on my eyes (and my hair)!  Does anyone else have my same issue?

Clipping Path or are you referring to the Pen Option ruber Band?

  • Where can we suggest new features for Yahoo Messenger and other RIM IM clients?

I just downloaded the new version of Yahoo Messenger and I like the user interface. But every time a new version comes out, this application creates a less-complete history of contact behavior. Several versions ago, the contact's status showed up in the open conversation, along with the time stamp of when the status changed. This included Idle and Custom Status changes. That disappeared. In the last version, you could see the time the contact signed in or out last, and sometimes both. Now they're gone as soon as you close the conversation.
The whole idea of having Yahoo up on the BlackBerry all the time is that you don't have to be staring at the screen all the time, that you should be able to take it out of your pocket and check out those events that occurred that didn't set off alarms. I'd like the whole contact history to be right there, for as long as I want to keep it active. How can I make this suggestion to RIM for the next version of Yahoo Messenger? Thanks.

  • Who/Where can i suggest new features/ changes

    Hi Adobe Devs.
Are there someone i can message/mail new ideas, cause it sems
like this forum does not seem to be quite the right place.
I've been working with flash for some years (since flash4)
and i love the program. Honestly i think have some good ideas of
simple stuff that could be added to make the program easier to use,
    both for designers and programmers.
I initially tried with this post:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1258827&enterthread=y
    but noone has answered it...

there's a feature request list on adobe's site:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
But you may have to wait at least another year unless your
wishes coincide with the features about
to be released in the CS3 version (days/weeks away).

  • SUGGESTED CALENDAR FEATURE

It would be nice to be able to specify calendar alarms with more options than just one or two hours or days before or after, the way it is on the desktop program. I often have things I need to get ready for very early in the day, and I'd like to be reminded the afternoon before.

  • Suggesting features for iTunes

I'll start this post by telling readers a little about my computing background. I used to be a PC nerd who hated Macs and would never consider buying one. iTunes came out, I gave it a try to prove to myself that Apple made crappy software. To my surprise, it was great, and I completely switched to it from years of Winamp addiction. I still didn't like Macs though.
Enter OSX and the PowerBook. 10 minutes of playing with my friend's new PB caused me to buy one, and I've loved every minute of using my PB since the day I opened its box. So now I am a Mac and PC nerd.
The reason for this post is that I would like to suggest 2 features for iTunes. They are both pretty obvious to me, but version after version comes out, without these features.
    Here they are:
CD-TEXT. Why the **** would you release a program in the year 2006, that burns audio CD's but does not write CD-TEXT? Seriously. WHY?
The other feature: an easy way to update the library on the Windows version. On the Mac, iTunes seems to somehow know when you move your music files (maybe even delete them, haven't noticed), and it updates your library automatically. This is awesome, and the fact that no such feature is included in the Windows version kills me. I have thousands of songs on my Windows machine. I download tons of music (legally of course), and every time that I go to add music to my library, I have to think twice about where I place the files. I like to keep a very organized music directory, and I don't want iTunes doing it for me either. I just want a button that scans for missing files and deletes them from the library, then scans the iTunes music folder for new songs and adds them.
With these 2 features, iTunes couldn't get any better.
Screw all the video features, podcasts, etc. Who cares? Music is what I (and most people in general) use the program for, and the fact that it can even function with the amount of songs I have in my library amazes me and tells me its meant to work with such a quantity of files.
So why not add such vital features? Come on Apple!! Microsoft does suck, but you gotta pick up the slack to stay as far ahead of them as you have been ever since the release of OSX!
By the way, is there anywhere on this site that I could officially suggest these features? I looked but could not find such a page.
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6) I also use a decently fast Windows box.

    hi Jeffery!
By the way, is there anywhere on this site that I could officially suggest these features? I looked but could not find such a page.
although there isn't a dedicated enhancement request channel for itunes, there is one for the ipod. since itunes is the only supported software for getting music onto an ipod, i figure that's a worthy place to make itunes enhancement requests:
