Suggestions for printing with CS4?

I had no problems printing with CS3 at school last year but they updated to CS4 and now my prints are pure magenta! I did all the same settings like photoshop manages color, printer profile, etc. and i can't figure out what the problem is. if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it! Might it have something to do with color settings?
thanks, erica

Hi Erica,
Of course I don't know which printer you are using, but I've been using Epson 7600s for years and I also belong to the Epson Wide Format Group.  Although I'm not using CS4 yet, I have noticed a number of printing issues concerning the newest version of PS.  One thing I remember, and I believe this came from both Epson and Adobe, is that in CS4 you have to let the printer manage the colors, not Photoshop.  Otherwise you will have double profiling and that can lead to disastrous results.  I think it would be a good idea for you to join the Epson Wide Format Group and post this question there. I'm sure you'll get more results from those whose business is printing, and mostly from Photoshop.  I'm including the URL for the group.  It only takes minute to join and then you can post right away.  Good luck Erica.

I would like to use my iPad to print from my wireless HP 4500 printer.

Even if it was compatible, AirPrint does not work through a USB link, only Ethernet or WiFi.
I do not see your HP 4500 listed on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>  Therefore you need to take another approach.  To start, I suggest you download the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz.  It has limitations, but should get you printing with your existing setup.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share and PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
Your best option may be to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Programs that are reported to do that well are Printopia and FingerPrint.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh>  <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

  • Trouble Printing with CS4 and Epson

I wish to print a 13x19 photo on my Epson Photo Stylus R3000.  After entering all the info correctly with paper size, type, quality, etc I get a print with a one inch blank border on the top and bottom.  I called Epson and they said it was not their problem, it must be something with Adobe.  I am using Photoshop CS4 and Windows 7.  Help, please.  Doro

So, I found this little piece of info on Epson's site, the question doesn't quite match our problem, but the answer (you would think) would fix us...
Q: I don’t see my printer driver on the Epson Macintosh Snow Leopard Support page. Where can I find a Mac OS 10.6.x driver for my product?
    A: Try the following:
Rosetta needs to be installed in Snow Leopard. If necessary, install Rosetta.
Go to Drivers & Support, select your product category, then select your product name.
Select Drivers & Downloads, then select Macintosh Operating Systems from the drop-down list and click Go.
Download the Macintosh 10.5.x drivers for your product.
Note: If there are no Macintosh OS X 10.5.x drivers available for your product, download and install the Macintosh OS X 10.4.x drivers and the Common Updater software for your product.
Follow the on screen instructions to finish the driver installation.
I followed the instructions to the letter.... no results, I still don't see the driver in the drop-down list of available Printer Drivers!

  • PDF for Print with interactive buttons

In ID CS4 when exporting a book to PDF, the buttons were automatically added when "interactive elements" were checked in the export dialog box. In ID CS5, the export book to PDF requires you to select the "for Print" or "Interactive". I want to create a single file that can be used for print and has some interactive elements included.
When I select export for PDF "Interactive" the two page spreads (8.5 x 11) turn to one large spread (11 x 17). I don't want the large spreads, but I do want the interactive buttons (return to last page viewed) I have at the bottom of the page.
Is there a setting I am missing?
This worked in CS4, why is it not letting me do the same thing in CS5??

  • 5.1 audio suggestions for FCS2 with a Decklink Extreme and Mac Pro?

I'm using a Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio, and I'm wondering if I can get 5.1 sound out of the decklink card. When I use a Firewire interface (M-audio firewire 410) to output audio, it is out of sync with the video coming out of the decklink card. So I guess the alternative is to find out how to get AES/EBU to output the 12 channels it says it can do in HD. I can't afford an HDCAM deck with 12 outputs, so how would any of you suggest I go about doing something like this? I really just want to get 5.1 going and in sync for the Final Cut Studio 2 release.
Thanks so much for any help!
    Bob Stovall

    Hi Bob,
I'm using a Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio, and I'm
wondering if I can get 5.1 sound out of the decklink
card. When I use a Firewire interface (M-audio
firewire 410) to output audio, it is out of sync with
the video coming out of the decklink card.
See my response to your other post on this. Note that M-Audio is not famous for excellence with Core Audio drivers.
    So I
guess the alternative is to find out how to get
AES/EBU to output the 12 channels it says it can do
in HD. I can't afford an HDCAM deck with 12 outputs,
so how would any of you suggest I go about doing
    something like this?
The Decklink AES/EBU hardware output will only source 2 channels of audio. If you have the 410, just use that with your audio software and set up the offset as I previously described. Plug its analog outs into your surround controller. It's very straight forward and you shouldn't have too much trouble.
If you tell us what audio software you're intending to use to produce your soundtrack, we could probably be more helpful.

  • Defaults for 'Print with comments summary'

    Hi,
I'm working in Acrobat Pro 7, and often need to use "Print with comments summary". This always launches with paper size set to "letter" and layout set to "Document and comments with sequence numbers on separate pages". But I always want "A4" and "Document and comments with connector lines on single pages". Is there any way I can make this the default?

    Anybody?

  • Help: Resizing images for Printing with CS3

    Hello All,
Thus far, I've done most of my printing with my Epson 3800 on paper below 8.5 x 11 which was no problem.  Now I'd like to do some larger stuff like 13 x 19 and 17 x 25.  Image size is 3504 x 2336 psd. @ 360ppi. (workflow is RAW to Adobe RGB 16-bit 8.2MP)  I'd like to maintain the 360ppi resolution, but resize to say 12 x 18 or larger and then apply final sharpening.
My confusion is with the up-sizing steps themselves.  I've heard it's best to increase image x% over target image size via Bicubic(?) and then to reduce x% to target size using Bicubic sharpener(?) or something to that effect.  Can someone please walk me through the process so I can get the hang of it?  Thank you!

Sounds like one of those tales from an older technology.
Just use the resampling method as recommended in the Image size dialog

You might have better a response to your questions by posting them in the OS X 10.4 Tiger forums: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.4_tiger
    or in the PowerMac forums:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/power_macof
This forum is for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Since that version won't run on your PowerMac, you're not likely to get many helpful responses here.
In any case, I'll try to offer some basic troubleshooting suggestions:
The PS designation on your printer denotes the PostScript printer language. Is your applications software and current printer driver configured to send PostScript (or HP-GL or HP-PCL or ???)
Does ANY application print anything (even gibberish) to the printer?
HP still shows a DesignJet 500 series raster driver for OS X 10.4 Tiger available to download here:

Does the printer time-out with every program, or just one? Have you tried another cable?
OS X 10.5 Leopard is no longer sold by Apple. It was never sold as a download, sold only on CD/DVD disc. Discs might still be available for purchase on eBay.
OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" is the oldest version of OS X still sold by Apple, and it too is available ONLY on CD/DVD for $20, but it will not run on your PowerMac, because Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor: os x snow leopard requirements
HP DesignJet 500 basic printer documentation is available as a pdf document and downloadable file here: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/manualsResults?sp4ts.oid=2 5301&ac.admitted=1391720518005.876444892.199480143
How is the printer connected to the computer? Are you using a USB interface, a Centronics 'Parallel' interface, or a JetDirect network interface?
It appears that the network timeout default for the printer was 30 minutes, but it can apparently be set in the range of anything 30-seconds and longer. The manual notes that some software does not send an 'end of job' postscript marker, so that is the reason for the time-out setting.

  • Ideas and Suggestions for Working with Low Res Video Files

    Hi,
A client has asked me to take all of her low res videos she shot with her iPhone and put them on a DVD.
I've made her aware that the end result is not going to be a Hollywood production.  I even did a test for her to show the difference between a low res clip and a HD clip.  You can see these clips here:
    http://designerandpublisher.com/hs/lowrestest.mp4
    and
    http://designerandpublisher.com/hs/hdtest.mp4
She understands and will fix her camera to shoot high-res next time.  Anyway, the footage (330 minutes) I have looks like this when imported into Premiere Pro CS4:
I first just set up a 640x480 timeline and imported one of her clips.  It doesn't look too bad.  I'm not sure why that green bar is there:
Then I went into the timeline's properties to see if I can somehow enhance it once it goes onto a DVD via Encore:
But i'm not really sure if it's worth fiddling around with a customized timeline.  I don't have my hopes up though but I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me what they did in this type of situation.  It seems like the 640x480 timeline, once brought into Encore and transcoded for the DVD, may work best.
    Any ideas are appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Maximum paper weight for printing with a photosmart 5520 printer needed. Table gives sizes only

    Hi,
I am trying to find out if my printer can print 350 gsm  canvas style A4 photopaper. There is an older post with a link but the links only give the paper size .
There is also a 320 gsm version of this paper.
What is the maximum paper weight?

    Hi Tony,

Google is our friend for this sort of conversion / measurement.
Most American made paper is sold by Pound measurement which might be shown on the front of the package.
A chart might be useful to determine what the average home printer uses.
Pounds to GSM Paper Weight Conversion Chart
I am unsure the extent of what you require for this -- the printer may be able to handle the extra weight paper or not.  If the job is one for which you may not need to use the printer again, you might consider using a professional service and not risk your home equipment that may not be suited to this heavy duty service.

  • HD monitor suggestion for use with Mac Mini.

    Hello Group,
Can anyone suggest the best (or good, compatible) HD monitor to use with my new mac mini just purchased (late 2009 model). Can't afford the apple cinema's so I'm looking for a cheaper option to still have HD using HDMI inputs, looking to spend around $200-$300..also do I need to purchase an adapter of some kind?. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Although I have no specifics, from various articles I have read
about the condition, a few things stand out.
What seems the most prevelant and makes a lot of sense is
to use a monitor that has a matte finish screen.  Glossy screens
regardless how you tweek lighting and viewing positions will always
have some amount background reflection.  It can be so low as to
not be conciously perceptible, but the eye is still detecting it and
is trying to correct for it and what is viewed on the screen.
On the subject of lighting, with the wider spread use of CFL
lights could be adding more people to the list with this problem.
The "cycle times" of these can conflict with display refresh times
causing the susceptable persons eyes to get confused.  The old
incandescent bulbs had much less of this effect.
Screen refresh rate can also be an issue.  With the iMacs and
the Thunderbolt displays as well, these are fixed and cannot be
tweeked, atleast not without third party intervention.  With a
Mini and some other third party monitor, adjusting refresh rates
    can help.
Environment in general is a major contributor as well.
So, resolving the issue may not be as simple as just getting
a different monitor, although matte screens seem to be a
    major help.

  • Setup Airport Express for printing with Samsung CLX-3185FW

I have bought an Airport Express which I was told I could connect my printer to so we can print from our iPad, iPhones and iPods.
Does anybody have any instructions on how to do this so I can access the printer on my ios devices to print?  It might be best for me to start from the beginning.
(I have already tried to connect the AX by extending the network but there is an error message coming up saying it was unable to extend the wireless network.  I also tried to join an existing network but I didn't have any luck there either.  I installed Airport Utility on my PC and I could see the printer under the printers options but now when I open the Aiport Utility, it doesn't even find that I have an AX!).  I'm not havin much luck with it.  Any assistance on how to start fresh and set it all up would be appreciated. Thanks, Jason

....I was told I could connect my printer to so we can print from our iPad, iPhones and iPods.
Unfortunately, the information that you received is not correct.
In order to print from iOS devices, you need to have an AirPrint compatible printer.  Your Samsung model is not on the list of AirPrint compatible devices.  See this Apple support document for more details:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Adding or ssing an AirPort Express will not make your printer AirPrint compatible
As a possible workaround, Installing an App like Print Central on each of your iOS devices might allow you to print from the iOS devices to the printer.

  • A suggestion for those with battery issues:

When I first got my iPhone, I had the same battery issues many people here are talking about, in fact I posted about it myself. Its fixed. Very fixed, and Im very happy with my battery life. Here is what I did.
First, do not charge it using your USB connection. At least not always. Why? I dont know. I did the first few days, and couldnt get a full charge even tho system wasnt going to sleep. I started using the wall charger, and got longer battery life, but still not great. One night, I forwarded the phone to my home phone in case I got a call, and shut the phone down completely, and put it on charge. In the morning, I woke up to a 100% charged, fully glowing battery icon. The battery lasted all day with no issues. Every night after that, I just charged it on the wall charger, but did NOT shut it down to see what happened. I am still waking up every morning to a 100% fully charged battery. The battery life seems to get better daily now.
Today, I ran wifi for about 5 hours because I forgot to shut it off. This was after going to the pool and listening to the iPod on the phone for about 2 hours. And using the phone normally throughout the day, checking mail, sms, etc. Really a full day of work, and my battery is still over 50% full. I purposely didnt connect it to anything during the day for a recharge, not the USB or wall charger.
Good luck, hope this helps. Id be interested to know if it does.

    Here's my non-scientific experiment.
After surprising battery drain for the first 10 days or so with not much usage, I completely drained the battery yesterday until the phone shut off.
I plugged into AC charge and was worried when it didn't seem to even begin charging.
I plugged into USB, assuming it needed to charge enough to at least complete a sync.
I left it on USB until about 5-10% charge, then switched it to AC. At about 50% I needed to use it, so I did but sparingly, and put it back on charge, all the while keeping Mail on manual and WiFi off.
I took it off once more to get it home from the office, then plugged into AC.
    I left that charging overnight.
I never actually got the "glow", but did get the plug icon showing full charge in the status bar.
After about 2 1/2 hours this morning, the status has not moved off of 100% (but with little usage as before).
This is definitely an improvement already though. Hope this helps.

  • Acrobat 9 installed on Windows 8.1; upon Save, error every time: "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..."; no "Organizer90" file found (to be deleted, as www suggests for solution with XP, VIsta, 7)

I've installed my old faithful Acrobat 9 Pro on my new Windows 8.1 computer. The program works, but every time I save the document, it tells me "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset. Quit the program and close all browsers." (Something close to that text.) I've entered the error online, and a solution does appear for XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It tells me to have Windows Explorer show hidden files, and then look for "Organizer90" within Users/[me]/AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0, and then delete that file -- which will make Acrobat generate a new one. But there is no such file there. Please help with alternate solution. NOTE: When I "Check for Updates" in Acrobat, I'm told that there are no updates available at this time, but also told: "Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater." Seems like things are out of whack.

Thanks for help. Difficulties continue: When trying to install 9.5.5, I'm told it can't install because the program may not be on my computer, or may be the wrong version. I'm told to check that the program exists. The installed version (9.0) is totally legit, my serial numbers, etc., I've used it for many years. Automatic update seems to be on, but I downloaded Adobe Updater to be sure. Seemed to make no difference. Program does function, but not perfectly. Under "About," it calls itself 9.0, so it would not seem that auto update is taking place. Acrobat on previous machine (Windows Vista) indeed calls itself 9.5.5. (It was installed with same 9.0 package, and presumably updated itself to 9.5.5 over the years.) So summary of current problem: Acrobat 9.0 won't upgrade to 9.5.5 on Windows 8.1.
