Suitcase Fusion Not Launching

My mac all of a sudden will not launch Suitcase Fusion. I Reinstalled the Suitcase Fusion 12.1.3 installer and reloaded. i Changed the computer name and restarted and received the message below.
*Suitcase Fusion failed to read the font database.*
*This may be because you are running a previous version of Suitcase Fusion. Please be sure you are running the newest version of Suitcase Fusion installed on your computer. Suitcase Fusion will now close.*
I have Suitcase X1 installed but I'm not running it. i tried the name change route and I've hit a brick wall. Can someone help me here.
Thanks,
MVH

Thanks for your help, the Vendor, Extensis, after a few emails, took great care to analize my profiles and settings, and the solution... if you go into system preferences, to sharing. If your COMPUTER doesn't have a name, the application won't launch. Go figure! anyhow it is working beautifully. You really have to take the time to clean your font folders in your, user library, and hard drive library. Don't touch your system font folder.

  • Extensis Suitcase Fusion will not launch after updating to 10.5.7

Just recently updated to OS 10.5.7 and now I can't launch Extensis Suitcase Fusion software. Repaired permissions and hard drive, removed Suitcase from the login items list in my account under System Preferences, reinstalled Suitcase and updated to latest version (12.1.7), but still not working. Can't delete preferences file for Suitcase because it doesn't appear on my hard drive. Found a recommendation to click on RESET_SUITCASE script but that script doesn't appear on hard drive either.
Anyone else with similar Suitcase issues and a potential solution?
    Many thanks in advance!

Hi and thanks. I had already been to Extensis and read that article...couldn't perform recommended steps since there seems to be no preferences file for Suitcase on my hard drive.
No surprise that Extensis recommends an upgrade fix. I will hold out for now in hopes that someone out there has just the trick I need.
I appreciate that software/hardware developers are anxious to give us the latest and greatest at every turn, but am getting a little weary of trying to keep up with all the upgrades, especially when one seems to continually lead to another...
In any case, thanks again. Anyone with any other suggestions, please share. Thanks!

  • Suitcase Fusion is missing and will not launch

I had to do a hard reboot and now my Extensis suitcase fusion is gone from the bar and when I try and launch it from the documents folder nothing happens.
The prompt I get when I launch Illustrator is: Some plugins in add pluging folder are conflicting with application or user plugins.
Also Get: Suitcase fusion plug in could not locate a copy of the suitcase fusion folder.
Help please I need my fonts back.

You should be able to download the installer and just enter in your activation codes, though it's been a while since I've used Suitcase so perhaps they've changed their licensing procedures.
If if reinstalling doesn't fix the problem, then unless someone else here has a suggestion, you'll probably need to contact Extensis support and ask if there's any way to recover.

  • Suitcase Fusion 4 not launching

I can't get Suitcase Fusion 4 to launch on my MackBookPro. I down loaded the Suitcase Fusion 4 installer, which intalls fine, the plugins are recognised in InDesign CS6, but the application it self won't launch. I've been intouch with tech support at extensis and we went through some font cleaning basics, but no luck!
    Any suggestions?

  • Suitcase Fusion has detected an incompatible versin of FMCore. Suitcase Fusion can not continue. ??

Suitcase Fusion has detected an incompatible version of FMCore. Suitcase Fusion can not continue. What does this tell me?

    Hey Sara,
I get this message sometimes when I boot from one of my clones. I have Suitcase Fusion 4 version 15.0.6.
I remember this reading somewhere, maybe at the Extensis website.
Click whatever button is there (I think it says quit but I don't remember for sure). Log out of your account and then log back in. You don't have to restart.
Suitcase should launch normally when you log back in.
Now with me, this happens only intermittently. If it is happening to you continuously, it may be time to talk to Extensis. Of course, Extensis has discontinued support for my version within the last week or two.
    Hope this helps.

I have CS5 and on launch of Indesign, I get the message dialogue box:
Universal Type Client could not open the Font Vault at the location "". To access your fonts, please launch the Suitcase Fusion Core System Preferences Pane to create a new Font Vault or to select an existing one.
    I have tried the following:
made a new Font Vault adn selected it.

  • Adobe CC apps will not open after Suitcase Fusion 6 upgrade.

It appears that, after installing the recent Suitcase Fusion 6 upgrade (WIN7-64-bit) most of my Adobe CC apps won't open?!

CS2 seems to conflict with CS6.  One user found this to work.  AppData is a hidden folder in case you try this.
I finally got it to launch via instructions from another web page. In my case, I am running Win 7 Professional 64-bit and previously loaded Photoshop and Bridge versions CS2 (along with Illustrator and InDesign CS2), which might have been part of the problem. The solution for me was to create an empty "Bridge CS2" folder in the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\. Worked like a charm.
You might have to use the Adobe Script Cleaner to get rid of traces of the CR2 files.

  • Fontbook fonts not syncing with my software programs-after SuitCase Fusion Trial

I am hoping someone can offer some insight / help. I am frantic .....a graphic designer needing my fonts asap!!
TRIGGER/ Problem arose today --  I installed and then uninstalled a trial version of Suitcase Fusion 3 today - and now 1/2 of my fonts are not recongnized by my software programs (ie: all Adobe software, MS Word, excel etc).
Basically when I open up FONTBOOK it shows all of my fonts under the ALL FONTS column, however when I want to use them in InDesign or PhotoShop or WORD, or Illustrator ....etc (you get the idea) ...they are not available from any drop down menues. It's as though the Fusion Software trial delinked them from use in all my applications?
Does anyone know how to reestablish fonts as they are listed / available in FONTBOOK?
Is there possible corruption OR is it just something I need to reestablish in my system?
    Thanks kindly,
    Jhoe

You used the software's built in uninstaller correct?
Because if you didn't you need to install it again, then use their uninstaller first.
    Next, download OnyX here
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
Run ALL the maintenance and cleaning aspects, you can cancel the reboot in between, but you need to reboot at the end of using OnyX.
This page especially should be of extra interest, it will rebuild your font caches.
Going to take a little time, but hopefully that will fix your issue.
None of your programs, files or fonts will be deleted, it's just cleaning out the system so it can rebuild itself.
If it doesn't work, then what likely has happened is the trial software didn't completely remove itself or altered something and didn't place things back the way it should be.
You should contact the support people for that program. They might have instructions.
But since you can't always count on them, it's always best to have a "hold option bootable clone" of your boot drive on a external drive which you can reverse clone from or use if your boot drive dies, and/or a TimeMachine drive where you can restore back to a previous state before the software install occurred.

  • Fonts not available in IDCC2014, with Suitcase Fusion 5 or 6

I have opened and worked a InDesign CC2014 doc. Everything is fine. The next day I attempt to open the doc again with the same fonts installed and they come up missing. I try several Macs, (different OSs), different versions of Suitcase Fusion including the latest and I get the same issue. Cleared font cache, restarted, etc to no avail. Any ideas? This has happened over the years occasionally, and has seemed to happen recently on a few occasions.
    Thanks

That's a large part of the problem. You have more than one font manager on your Mac. If you're not using Font Book, delete it. Then you need to reset its orphaned database so OS X stops trying to control which fonts are, or aren't active according to that data.
To remove Font Book from the hard drive, follow these steps:
    1) Open Font Book, and then its preferences. Uncheck the box for "Alert me if system fonts change". Close the preferences and shut down Font Book. Put the Font Book application in the trash and delete it.
    2) Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding it until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
This will reset Font Book's database and clear the cache files in your user account. The main goal in this step is to remove the orphaned Font Book database from the hard drive. With the Font Book application no longer on the hard drive, a new one cannot be created. Which is what we want.
    3) Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and all user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

  • Fireworks CS5 will not recognize suitcase fusion font

    Window 7 Ultimate / 64 bit / Fireworks CS5 with lattestr update / Suitcase Fusion 14.2.0.319
I am working on a graphic which requires Helvitica Neue which I have on my machine as a postscript font. I activate the font in Suitcase Fusion, but when I attempt to set text in Fireworks in Helvitica Neue it always goes back to Myriad which is the default font. Is there a fix for this? I can fall back and create the graphic in illustrator if necessary which recognizes all of fonts activated in Suitcase.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Looking at a Quick Reference PDF for Suitcase Fusion 3, they call this feature Global Auto-Activation, and it's available in Preferences (this is where you can enable global auto-activation by application). However, it appears to be a feature for the Mac OS but not for Windows. Also, thinking about it, this is referring to "auto-activation", which is a bit different from what you're describing.
I like my suggestion to clean the application font caches; I really think that might help. If that has no effect, then I'd try cleaning the system font caches first, and then the application font caches. Just be aware that cleaning the system font caches may affect the activation statuses of fonts that reside in your system's font folders. (For instance, on a Mac, all the fonts in the Library, user Library, and System get activated following a cache cleaning. Fonts outside these system folders are unaffected.) So you might want to make some notes on this before cleaning the system cache.
If this continues to be a problem, Extensis has pretty good email-based customer service/tech support.

  • Illustrator not opening: I've installed Suitcase Fusion 5 on to MAC running osx 10.6.8

After this install Adobe Illustrator no longer opens up. I've used the CC Cleaner Tool to uninstall illustrator. Moved Fonts into one library, checked they're all ok. Started up the app without any plugins. Created a new users on the Mac and the application still doesn't open.

    Gareth,
Here is the Extensions Suitcase 5 update that may solve the issue:

  • AI/CS4 crashes on Start-up - Suitcase Fusion 3 Issue?

I installed Suitcase Fusion 3 the other day.  Now Illustrator crashes on startup.  Could it be part of the SF3 auto-activation?  It wouldn't be the first time it caused a problem, but I un-clicked the "Illustrator CS4" button, and it still crashes.
I did contact Extensis, and Isent them a System Profile Report.  Their guy says he "sees some strange things" in it, and asked about classic and if I changed the default install location for AI CS4.
    Any help will be appreciated!

I just wrote something in another thread here concerning Fusion and Font Book. They don't play nice with each other.
This should have came with your Fusion3 Install, but check out page 8 of this PDF:
    http://doc.us.extensis.com/SuitcaseFusion3-User-Guide-Mac.pdf
On my work station, after setting up Font Book's preferences, I "disable" the program by making it a .zip archive so that it does not launch.
Concerning your .ai preferences, you have to go to the actual folder in your "Library" and delete the preferences. Illustrator will recreate this file once you launch it again.
And you can also go to the plug-ins folder within the illustrator folder to remove the Fusion3 plug-in.

  • Illustrator CS4 will not launch under Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
I've just done a clean install of Snow Leopard on my Mac. Here's what I did.
    1) Installed Snow Leopard 10.6
    2) Installed all OS X updates (including 10.6.1)
    3) Installed Quark Xpress 8.12
    4) Installed Adobe CS4 Design Standard
    5) Installed all Adobe updates (no updates related to Illustrator)
    6) Installed Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 (v13.2.1)
    Photoshop launches fine.
When I launch Illustrator it crashes just after the splash screen appears.
    Any ideas please?
Can't find anything on web really - if can't get an answer soon then I'll have to go back to Leopard .
    Thanks,
    Mike.

I would suspect Suitcase and perhaps a corrupt font might be causing this issue and the data base is now corrupt.
However before really pointing the finger at any software try this remove all unessential fonts then
    do this
    first quite Illustrator and then;
I would go to Users/username/Library/preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder and trash that settings folder.
then see if Illustrator is running fine. If not try a new user account if it is running fine under a new user then I would think it is font data base.

  • Anyone having issues with InDesign (CS5) and Suitcase Fusion 3 (Mac)?

I've run into a problem that I think might be caused by Suitcase Fusion 3 [Version 14.2.0 (319)], but I'm wondering if anyone here is having any issues with InDesign and Suitcase Fusion like I am?
Just about every time I launch an InDesign document or an Illustrator document (don't seem to have the issue in Photoshop, strangely enough) it pretty much crashes to the point where it's a force quit. Before anyone asks the question, this is what I've done - I've reformatted my hard disk (even writing 0s!), done a clean install of Lion (10.7.3), clean install of Creative Suite 5 (and updates), clean install of Suitcase (and updates)...you get the idea. I'm still ending up with crashing just about every time I open a document in these two apps.
As an experiment I downloaded a (fully functioning) trial version of FontAgent Pro (which I didn't like, btw) and didn't encounter any crashing at all in either application.
I've opened a ticket with Adobe to see if they have any details as to whether this is a known conflict or whatever (though I don't hold much hope for getting help from them since it's looking more like a Suitcase issue than a Creative Suite one).
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to try and resolve this?
I'm in the middle of producing two magazines and I really really don't need this! Lol

From the lovely people at Extensis tech support -
Thanks for the info. As you said, if this is happening when you have only manually activated fonts, then the auto-activation isn't coming into play which does lead me to think it is related to the plug-in generally and maybe the sleep issue, which you say you definitely have. So I've added you to the sleep issue tracking.
If you find yourself coming back from putting the computer to sleep and the apps with Suitcase plugins have hung, do this:
    1)      Go to your spotlight and type in "activity"
    2)      Launch "Activity Monitor"
    3)      Highlight the name of the adobe/quark application that is hanging by clicking it.
    4)      Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
    5)      Click the "Save" button.
    6)      Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
    7)      This will generate a file such as " Sample of Adobe Illustrator CS5.txt"
    8)      Repeat this process with any other application that is hanging.
    9)      Highlight the "FMCore" process by clicking it.
    10)  Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
    11)  Click the "Save" button.
    12)  Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
    13)  This will generate a file named " Sample of FMCore.txt"
    14)  Place these files along with the ".Plugins.txt" files created earlier into a new folder called "Plugins"
    15)  Right click (control+click) to compress into a .zip file.
Please attach this zip in reply to this mail.
When we are sure of a fix, we'll get back to you. In the meantime here are some workarounds:
    Option 1:
    1)      Back up your font sets by dragging them to the desktop
    2)      Remove SF3 v14.2 by following the instructions here:
    http://www.extensis.com/en/support/kb_article.jsp?articleNumber=4020
    3)      Download and re-install Suitcase Fusion 3 (version 14.0.6) from:
    http://dl.extensis.com/downloads/ST/EN/M/SuitcaseFusion3-M-1406-EN.zip
    4)      Are there fonts and font sets in your old font vault you would like to recover?
    If NO :
    a)      Open SF3
    b)      Simply drag and drop your original fonts into the SF3 "Font Library". This will copy the fonts into a new font vault.
If YES : Restore your old fontvault from the backup the removal tool created
    a)      If you choose "Y" to KEEP your font vault earlier when you ran the removal script, on your desktop you will find a folder called "Extensis-Backup-today's date" that contains a backup of your previous suitcase fusion 3 fontvault.
    b)      Move your old font vault from the "Extensis-Backup-today's date" folder on your desktop into this folder:
    /Users/[your username]/Library/Extensis/Suitcase Fusion/Suitcase Fusion.fontvault
    c)       Launch SF3 from your dock. you should now see all your old fonts and font sets.
    Option 2:
Remove our auto-activation plugins and activate your fonts manually in SF3 and/or add your adobe/quark apps to the SF3 > Preferences > General > Global Auto-Activation Options list. here's how:
    1)      In SF3: choose Suitcase Fusion 3 > Manage Plugins
    2)      Uncheck the boxes for adobe/quark apps; this will remove our auto-activation plugins
    3)      Choose SF3 > Preferences > General
    4)      Under "Global Auto-Activation Options", press the "+" button to add your adobe/quark apps
Please note that "global auto-activation" is less accurate than our plugin-based auto-activation. Double check your font usage in your design app to confirm the correct font was loaded after opening a document.
