Sum Product By Month By Year
The image above is an example of a dataset I have in SSRS. Unique items in the table is over 60. Currently it is aggregated by month and by year (total for all items). A user has to manually add up an item's total for the month or even for the year.
Now, they want to be able to see the sum as well as the average of an item by month, by year. For example, from the chart, to get the total value of item D, we will have to manually add up across the year. How do I meet this requirement
using SSRS?
Thank you.
Zionlite
Hi ,
You can do simply this in SSRS using tablix
1. by grouping on year and month and product.
2. then do summation/Avg for year and month and product that you require.

Sales report for current month and year a go month
i could you please guide me builting report for current monthwise for current month and year a ago month
report parameter month_year='06-2010'
tables = sales and below are the table fields
customer_id
invoice_dt
invoice_am
thanks
nhmOkay, Still you did not mention how you will pass value in report while generating.
Anyway the query with UNION ALL will work. For Example.
I am assuming that the parameter for date/month you will pass in range like 01-JUN-2010 to 30-JUN-2010
SELECT customer_id, SUM(curr_value) curr_value, SUM(past_value) past_value
FROM
SELECT customer_id, NVL(SUM(invoice_amount),0) curr_value, 0 past_value
FROM sales
WHERE invoice_dt BETWEEN :P_FROM_DATE AND :P_TO_DATE -- here P_FROM_DATE and P_TO_DATE will be the date range for current year as i showed above.
AND -- Any Condition goes here...
GROUP BY customer_id
UNION ALL
SELECT customer_id, 0, NVL(SUM(invoice_amount),0)
FROM sales
WHERE invoice_dt BETWEEN ADD_MONTHS(:P_FROM_DATE,-12) AND ADD_MONTHS(:P_TO_DATE,-12) -- This add_months function for the previous year same month.
AND -- Any condition goes here...
GROUP BY customer_id
GROUP BY customer_idNow using the above query you can design the tabular report as you showed the format.

I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula can I use?
I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula or expression can I use.
I am using a Rain Wise product that converts pulses to an analog value. The Rain Wise device can be
set to measure up to 1", 5", or 10". I will be setting the unit to 10 inches in increments of 0.01 inches.
What I would like to do is everytime the signal increments I would like to count it as 0.01 then after reaching
a period of time whether it be a day or a month reset back to zero.
Need some advise on this problem.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hello Ryan,
Lookout gets a Modbus over Ethernet signal which originates as a 4-20mA input to a Moxa Ethernet I/O Module (E1240) in the field. In Lookout I created a ModbusEthernet Driver and a tag which scales 0 - 65534 RAW to 0-10 Eng. [0 - 10 is inches of rain] Also, another piece of information is that after the rain gauge maxes out at 10 inches it will zero out and start over.
I though the accumulator was time based and took a sample over a specific time period, for instance, one sample every 30 seconds then accumulate. If this is so then if I have 5 inches of rain and then it stopped raining, then 30 seconds latter it would sample, it would see 5 inches and add that to be 10 inches when actually it had only rained 5 inches.
I really need some help with this process,

Selecting records based on month and year parameters
Hi. I have a sql 2008 r2 stored procedure which needs modifying to return the data based on a start / end month and year.
It's a large SP so I'll summarise - It accepts four parameters:
@StartMonth NVARCHAR(10)
@StartYear NVARCHAR(4)
@EndMonth NVARCHAR(10)
@EndYear NVARCHAR(4)
The current WHERE clause is:
WHERE ta.TimeByDay BETWEEN '01' + '-' + ltrim(LEFT(@StartMonth, 3)) + '-' + @StartYear
AND convert(nvarchar,datediff(day, ta.TimeByDay, dateadd(month, 1, ta.TimeByDay))) + '-' + ltrim(LEFT(@EndMonth, 3)) + '-' + @EndYear
Example of input parameters:
@StartMonth = N'January',
@StartYear = N'2014',
@EndMonth = N'February',
@EndYear = N'2014',
Result:
The conversion of a nvarchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.
(1 row(s) affected)
However it executes correctly if we do either of the following:
1) Run the SQL direct in QA and type in January and February rather than passing in the Start/End Month parameters
2) As you can see we use the following datediff call to get the number of days per month. IF I replace this with '28', or '31' for example the query also runs (oddly number 1 above then also runs by executing the SP):
convert(nvarchar,datediff(day, ta.TimeByDay, dateadd(month, 1, ta.TimeByDay)))
How do I update the WHERE clause to return records between a start/end month and year?
I'm a day on this so any help appreciated.

Re: How to pipeline a function with a dynamic number of columns?
Posted: May 9, 2006 2:58 PM in response to: Billy Verreynne Reply
Interesting stuff! It's going to take me awhile to digest it.
For what it's worth, I was trying to build a pivoting function that would take a MYTABLE table like this:
YEAR CITY X Y
2000 BAL 95 96
2000 BOS 101 101
2001 BAL 92 94
2001 BOS 101 101
2002 BAL 98 98
2002 BOS 98 99
2003 BAL 95 96
2003 BOS 105 104
and allow me to do something like:
CREATE VIEW MYPIVOT
AS
SELECT *
FROM TABLE (PIVOT(MYTABLE, [with other params]))
and get the following view MYPIVOT on the table:
YEAR BOS_X BOS_Y BAL_X BAL_Y
2000 101 101 95 96
2001 101 101 92 94
2002 98 99 98 98
2003 105 104 95 96
Where the number of distinct CITY values will vary over time. I am able to build the query I need dynamically, but since the CITY data values in the original table change, the columns are not necessarily static from invocation to invocation. Therefore I didn't want to just create a view using the dynamic SQL once, because it may need to be created next time I need to access the view. I wanted to be able to access the pivoted data on demand.A pipelined function is your best bet for that.
I couldn't do was be able to execute the query and treat it as a pipelined function, hence my original question.Sorry, I don't understand.
I'll dig into the code above to see if it does what I wanted, but if someone has a better suggestion on how to approach this, I'd be interested in hearing it.A completely different approach is String Aggregation , where you would get output like this:
YEAR TXT
BOS_X BOS_Y BAL_X BAL_Y
2000 101 101 95 96
2001 101 101 92 94
2002 98 99 98 98
2003 105 104 95 96Note that this output contains 6 rows and 2 columns. On the first row, year is NULL and txt=' BOS_X BOS_Y BAL_X BAL_Y'. You can do this is pure, static SQL, without knowing the number of cities in advance. -
Problem with bex query listing sales "this month" and "same month last year
Hi,
I've created a query in BW BEx, where I have a mandatory variable for 0calmonth, and I list 0material and sales (in volume, liter). And I have a restricted key figure giving me sales (volume in liter) restricted with 0calmonth = variable - 12, to give me the sale for the same month the user select, previous year.
This seems to be working, the sum is correct, but when adding up the number for the sales in the month previous year, the numbers does not fit the sum in the end.
I think the report only lists materials with sales the month selected in the variable, if a material has not been sold that month, but in the same month last year, it's not listed in the reports, but it's added in the sum in the end.
Example.
We have three records like this:
material - calmonth - volume
101 - 01.2010 - 5
101 - 01.2011 - 8
201 - 01.2010 - 7
The report will give the following (calmonth variable = 01.2011)
Material - volume this month - volume same month last year
101 - 8 - 5
Sum 8 - 12
Any way to solve this issue? We noticed because we run BO - Webi on top of the BEx query, and BO sum's the values per material, and in webi the report would give us the sum 8 and 5.
Any input is appreciated.
Regards,
ØysteinHi,
thanks for your reply.
The error is that the report only seems to list materials that has been sold "this month", and if the same material was sold the same month last year, it will also list the volume for this.
But if the material is only sold in the same month last year, it's not listed in the report, but it's calculated into the sum at the end.
The report is listing material, which is why the error presents itself, as you said
Getting 8 minus 12 is correct unless you drill down by material. In that case, it should be 8 minus 5 and 0 minus 7.
The row with 0 - 7 is not shown, and my guess is that the report will only list materials that has sales this month (which has been selected in the variable)
Regards,
Øystein

Prior Month/Quarter/year Measure
Hi Gurus,
I have 3 drop downs year,quarter and month in my report.
Now in my report 2 measures are shown.Current Period and Prior Period.
Now if i select 2011 as year in drop down then current period will be of 2011 and Prior Period will be of 2010.Same is the case for Quarter and Month.
For this i have created 3 measures for AGO.(AGO Year,AGO Quarter and AGO Month).
I have written case statement for the Prior Period Column in Answers so that if the user selects Year in the drop down then AGO year will be shown ,if user selects Quarter then AGO Quarter will be shown.
Now i m getting error in the report
A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 22036] Level in AGO function (Month) must be a rollup of (or equivalent to) the measure level (Year). (HY000)
Please help me in this regardFiscal Sales :=

FILTER (

'LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V'[Fiscal Year]

) - 1
The second (and following) arguments to CALCULATE() have to be filter expressions or table expressions.
In this case we are using the table expression, FILTER() - confusing, that.
ALL( 'LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V' ) means that we'll be applying a filter to every value in LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V
and returning a table that is a subset of that table based on the second argument to FILTER(). This is necessary, because your row filter (in this case the [Fiscal Year] that will be in the pivot table) would otherwise eliminate values for other years from
the filter context.
The second argument to our FILTER():
'LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V'[Fiscal
Year]
= MAX ( 'LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V'[Fiscal Year]
) - 1
This compares the values in the column [Fiscal Year] to MAX ( 'LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V'[Fiscal
Year] ) - 1. The MAX() function respects your row filter (remember, the [Fiscal Year] in the pivot table), and is necessary because we need to convert the values in that column to a single scalar value. We then subtract one.
Thus FILTER() is returning a table of all values from LG_ACTUAL_VS_BUDGET_V where
the fiscal year is the prior fiscal year compared to the current row context. This table is being used as the second argument to CALCULATE().
CALCULATE() then determines the value of [Fiscal Sales] in the context of that table.
I hope this helps a bit with your understanding of what's going on and how to properly
use CALCULATE(). -
Need Batch Expiry in month and year
Hi all
Is there any facility in SAP where I can map product batch expiry in month and year only ? or is there any facility for PLD on AR invoice where I can design expiry date in only month and year
Kindly Advise
ThanksHi,
Yes you can add expiry date while receiving the items through stock receipt or GRPO or receipt from production.
Why do you need only mm/yy in PLD?

Needing a multi-month and year-in-view option for ical!
Hello all!
I could really use a multi-month and year-in-view format in ical... I've seen some dated posts - is anyone aware of any new developments/options for this?
thanks and peace-
DWI turn off all calendars but the birthdays. Select [Print]. Choose all the months you want to see. Deselect all calendars but birthdays. Click [Continue]. On the next menu, go to "Layout", select how many pages to print on the paper. I usually print a border around each calendar then you're good to go!
By only printing the birthdays calenar, you won't get too many appointments to get in the way of brain storming and future planning, yet the computer still thinks its printing a useful calendar. -

Hi
I need to have 2 ssrs expression as I can use as default parameters in my report where I can - out from my Time dimension, get the
first date of the current, current year - and one where I get last date, current month, current year.
My data source is a SSAS cube and my timedimension is structured like this:
[Time].[Days].&[2009-01-16T00:00:00]
Any suggestions how to solve this ?Hi ,
You can use below in Default Values in ssrs ;
for first Day of current month and year
="[Time].[Days].&[" +Format(dateadd("m",0,dateserial(year(Today),month(Today),1)), "yyyy-MM-dd")+"T00:00:00]"
output will be ;
[Time].[Days].&[2014-09-01T00:00:00]
For last day of current month and year
="[Time].[Days].&[" +Format(DateSerial(Year(Now()), Month(Now()), "1").AddMonths(1).AddDays(-1), "yyyy-MM-dd")+"T00:00:00]"
output will be ;
[Time].[Days].&[2014-09-30T00:00:00]
Please correct me if I misunderstood your requirement.

I have 3 PC's. Two of them I use at 2 different locations and only use them 6 months each year. When I turn on a computer that has not been used for 6 months, does all of the old information from that computer end up in Icloud? Does Icloud push all the new calendar and contact items over the old items?
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -
Change the way month or year page flips in Lion?
As nits go, this is pretty nitty :-) In Lion, iCal changed the way month (and year) views changed the way they moved. Instead of just a straight transition to the next month or year, some wise guy decided to transition with a lovely (not) animation that sets off my vertigo whenever the darn page moves from month to month.
Is there a way to revert to the previous behavior without any animation? I want a straight transition, with no flipping. I would love a classic view of iCal. I realize I am a traditionalist, a Luddite, if you will, but I dislike the colors and the current UI. I had more control over what I saw with the old iCal. I have less control now. I really dislike animation I can't control. Anyone know what I can do about that?
Thanks, JohannaThose dates are read from the Capture Date filed that is in the acutal file. You can make the changes you want if you export those files to a folder on the desktop, run a 3rd party application on them and then reimport into iPhoto. Then delete the original, bad dated files.
The application that I use to batch change the dates is PhotoInfo. It will allow you to change any one or more of the date and time values by a given amount.
