Summary row in tableview (including sorting and BYPAGE navigation)

Hello everybody,
I already found a few topics dealing with this problem but I wasn't able to find a real solution for this.
So far I'm pretty familiar with table iterators but I have no idea how to handle the summary row to be the last line in a table, even if sorting and navigation by page is allowed in the tableview.
I think you definitely have to add this summary row in your internal table, since you can not add a virtual row in your tableview. And you can custom render this row or respectively each cell for instance with a different color but how to force this row always to appear as the last row in every tableview page (navigation=BYPAGE).
Does anyone have a solution for that?

Ok, here is what I came up with (hoping I got your problem right):
In your tableview you are displaying x rows, and after these rows you want your sum row to be displayed.
I have done quite some things with iterators, but why not do without one here
Altering the internal table can do as well:
Try to insert a new row after every x rows into your internal table which holds the needed sum values, and then change your tableview to display x+1 rows.
In you case you need to do some operations with your internal table (to avoid the sum rows messing up the results) you should somehow "mark" these sum rows so you can distinguish them later on.

I am new to BI and would like some help with an issue I don't seem to be able to resolve?
I have a table that uses two xml group elements (2nd nested inside first) to produce my detail lines.
Example:-
First for-each loop runs over shipto details and within this another for-each loop runs over items related to that shipto, all of which results in multiple detail lines.
I need to limit the number of rows per page and should the data roll over to the next page I need to place a horizontal closing border on the first page's table (only using column borders).
Also when the data does not fill the page I need to add spacer rows to the page limit?
I have tried using examples found in these forums, position(), counters etc… but due to having the second detail loop I’m unable to get these working or I’m doing something wrong?

I have tried some of the examples which I can get working with a single level of detail lines. However when I add the second level of detail lines the position() function seems to fail as my rowlimit appears to be ignored.
I am also unable to get the $lpp example working because the outer detail loop may only have one xml element and therefore BI assumes only one line is to be printed when in fact the inner xml element detail loop may have further multiple lines. I need to effectively count the outer & inner loops as one to determine the number of lines being processed.
Example of xml - My table for detail lines needs to include both ShipTo & item number lines grouped as shown, thereby counting & outputting 7 lines in this instance.

Sorting and then navigating to subreport

Hi, I have a standard table with sort enable in all columns. One of the columns navigates to a subreport when you click on any value. If I click on it without sorting first by that column I navigate to the subreport which returns the correct number of records.
However, if I sort the column in question first and then click to navigate to the subreport this one returns ALL records.
Any ideas on how to circumvent this bug would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
The filters in the subreport are pretty simple.
Student ID is prompted
AND Class Of is not equal to / is not in UNKNOWN
AND CAST ( CAST (Class Of.Class Of ... is between School End Year-1 and School End Year+2
AND AG Course Flag is not equal to / is not in U
This is an education center, so we pass student ID and the class of his/her graduation.
It works well until you sort, in the calling report, the values in the column (which are usually Y or N)

Using member sorting and grouping with two reports sharing rows

I have a problem with one report and I need some help or advise here.
I have two dimensions with dynamic expansion in rows (PRODUCT, MATERIAL), and I use the option Member Sorting and Grouping at Member selector to obtain the total amount of PRODUCT group by PARENTH1:

PROD_A_A             MAT1                          22
PROD_A_B             MAT1                          50

this can be achieved by just assigning a datatable containing the data plus some formatting of grid. Meaning there is no feature for that.
The datatable can be filled manually or by sql query. Then you have to attach some events for updating the values ( validate after for gid item ).
A small example for a sql query showing last month quotations and orders with summary :

Sorting and formatting in Numbers with iPad 2

I am going to send feedback to Apple about this, but I wanted to let the community help, if I am incorrect and these things are actually possible.
1. I can only sort by one column. I want to be able to create a sort priority. For example, I want to sort four columns first by date, then by person's name, then by $ amount. Not possible on mobile Numbers.
2. I want to choose to sort only specific columns. I have a formula set up in column E that sums the cells to the left in columns C and D. My formulas break every time I sort.
3. When I copy and paste from one Numbers spreadsheet into another, the formatting from the copied sheet gets put into the pasted sheet. I want to be able to "paste format" like you can in Excel. A sort-of workaround for this is to select the cell that has the correct format (this cell has to be directly above the cells that have the wrong formatting), pull the blue select box down the column to include the cells that have the wrong formatting, click the paintbrush at the top right corner, then choose whatever formatting you need--the format that is shown as selected will be the format of the first-selected cell. You have to do this for every individual column, however. And my columns are very long -- hundreds of cells long (I'm keeping a year's worth of data).
Am I correct in that if I buy a Mac computer and Numbers for the computer, I would be able to do these edits on the Mac, and then have them show up on my iPad when it synchs with iCloud? I can't buy Numbers for a PC, can I? Being tied to a computer isn't what I want--I wanted to be able to do everything on my mobile device.

for #1: numbers does what is called a "stable" sort. Meaning that the previous sort order is preserved. i.e. do your sort in reverse order. Amount, then name, then date. Just did it with sample data and it was perfect. It keeps them in the original order, so if there is a match in name after you sort, you should see the amount still in the proper order.
#2: What in your formula isnt working? I just made a formula that did math on the columns to the left, sorted and it worked. Sorted by static data columns and the formula column. I know it was broken originally, years ago, but it seems to be working correctly now, at least in my quick test. You might have an issue if you are using formulas that refer to data on other rows or tables.
#3: yeah formatting can be a pain. But it is easier to do in the desktop program. No, you cannot get it for windows, sorry. If the formatting the only thing you need to do on the desktop side, then i dont see much tying you to it. I do 90% or more on the ipad and iphone now.

Why insert a row will cause a sort (it can be saw from autotrace)?

When I simply insert a row into a table, I could also see there is a sort in memory. But why insert need a sort?

At a guess...
First execution makes a number of recursive calls - that'll be SQL run against the dictionary, and might well include one of your sorts.
After that, probably 1 sort for the explain part of the autotrace output.

Sorting records in Sort and Rank report

I created a Top 10 report based on the Sort and Rank template. The report behaves well at first, giving me 10 records nicely sorted. However, after having run it a few times with various parameters, the sorting seems to be random.
The EVENE() in cell I33 refers to the row set in cell F5:

In cell F6, there is an Order expression:

However, there seems to be no reference the this expression in EVENE() or elsewhere, which I guess is why the sorting doesn't work.
Is anyone familiar with the Sort and Rank template and can tell me where to include this Order expression and the syntax for it? My version is 7.0M.

Hi,
The DB->set_bt_compare() is used to compare keys in Btree database. In the callback function, both the DBTs are key, but not data. Please refer to http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/api_reference/C/dbset_bt_compare.html.
If you want any field in the data to be sorted, you might create a secondary index on it and define the compare function as you wish.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Fixed first row regardless of column sort

I have a report where I need the first displayed row always be a specific row that have the input fields (like text fields and select list .. etc), all columns in report are sortable. The problem is that when user sort the report by any column, the first row that have the input fields will not be the first row anymore because of sort.
does any one have an idea how to fix the input fields row at the top of the report (first row) regardless of sort?

Why include the input fields in the report and not use page items at the top of the report region?

Rank only summary rows from group by rollup

I would like to rank only the total rows generated by a group by rollup, but not rank the rows within each group by bucket. Furthermore, I'd like to order by rank in descending order and include the unranked rows within each group.
My query looks something like this:

JTable Header/summary Row

Hi
I have a jtable and I want to add a summary row right under the header. I added a row and I specified in the sorting class to start from 1 instead of 0, which made my summary not sortable. but, when I scroll down, the summary row disappears.
How can I make it not disappear? the same problem with printing. I'm using the table.print method and it prints only in the first page, while I want to print on every page.
I think I should add it as part of the header? I have no idea how to do that.
any ideas or help?

The intention before JavaFX 2.0 shipped was to include FilteredList and SortedList collection classes that would wrap an ObservableList and work as you would expect, in a very 'glazedlists' kind of way. Unfortunately, due to concerns about the API these were removed prior to JavaFX 2.0 shipped, and will return in JavaFX 3.0: http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-17053
Unfortunately there are no plans to introduce API to support this directly on TableView as this API would be redundant in a short while. Your best option is to run an external iteration on the TableView.items list when your filter criteria changes, and to remove/add items from a master list into the TableView.items list. Any changes you make to this list will be immediately reflected on screen.

i want to customise the look and feel of the summaryRow of the AdvancedDatagrid by including borders to the top and the bottom.I tried overriding createChildren() and adding HRule as the first and last child of the summaryRenderer.The HRule is getting added but it is not getting displayed.Am i doing somthing wrong.If so how can i customize the look and feel .Please suggest

You can just use Renderer providers to customize your SummaryRow just like you use Renderer Providers for your columns.Specify the label name of the summary row that you want to customize in the renderer provider.

ADG summary row children count

Hi all
Can anyone please tell me the best way to include a count of direct children in a grouping collection summary row? My data has two grouping fields and I can use a summaryfield to get a count of ALL children from depths 2 and 3 but I only want the direct children from the next level down.

Managed to find a resolution to this myself. Although not in the summary row itself, I was able to use this in my group item renderer...
