Sun Grid Engine's qacct command fails in epilog file

Hi,
I have installed SGE on my cluster and i am able to submit the jobs . For accounting purpose i want to get the output of 'qacct -j $job_id' in epilog file. But in epilog qacct exits with "Job Id not found error". How to achieve this? Or is there any way to get the job details like 'start time, end time, total run time' etc. in epilog file?
Please help.

This forum is about Sun Studio program development tools. Sun Studio is program development suite for creating and analyzing programs written in C, C++, and Fortran. Since your question is about Sun Grid Engine, a product unrelated to Sun Studio, you are unlikely to find answers here.
Normally I direct people to the Open Solaris forums, but SGE is not part of Solaris; it is a separate product.
A good place to start is the main product page:
Also try [http://blogs.sun.com] Search for "sun grid engine" to find bloggers who specialize in SGE.
If you Google "sun grid engine" you will find other promising links.

  • Queries with Sun Grid Engine

    Hi,
Has anyone worked with the Sun Grid Engine (SGE)?
I had some queries regarding SGE
    1. Does SGE support some kind of Autoscaling?
I know that there are commands to add Nodes to Grid dynamically, but does this require the Grid to restart after adding the node?
    2. how do we interact with the Queue? Is it possible using Galaxy API? or using SGE API?

    arc_g wrote:
    2. how do we interact with the Queue? Is it possible using Galaxy API? or using SGE API?There is one utility in Sun Studio tools, that interacts with SGE. It is "dmake":
    http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/documentation/ss12u1/mr/READMEs/dmake.html
It can build targets in "serial", "parallel", "distributed" and "grid" (SGE) modes.
It is using SGE API to submit tasks to the SGE.
    Thanks.

  • Setting up a grid using SGE(sun Grid engine)

    Hi everyone,
We are trying to set up a grid in our university. We are taking the help of SGE(sun grid engine). We have successfully installed the master host. But we are encountering a problem when trying to install
    the execution host.
    When we type #qconf -sh
    the following output is occuring
error: commlib error: can't connect to service (No route to host)
ERROR: unable to contact qmaster using port 6444 on host
    "sun.localdomain"
We have added the execution host's name to the submit list on the master host. We've also started the sge_master daemon process on the master host. .
Both the systems are pinging correctly.
We have assigned sge_qmaster the port number 6444 in /etc/services
file on both the systems(master and execution host). The name of
the master being sun.localdomain and the name of the execution host is
    sunq.localdomain.
Please provide a solution to this problem,so that i can complete the installation of execution host.

ok, i have benn faced this kind problem.
i show you some info, maybe can help you out.
firstly, you need to change some setup files else. like hosts; hosts.equiv; profile; rhosts; and services.
after then, you need to add execute host name to the administrative host list. "./qconf -ah".
and then restart you server head and nodes ( for make sure something effect).
the userful information, you can found in http://www.sun.com/software/gridware/

  • Sun grid engine interface with 10g grid services

    Hi,
I am a Graduate student in Comp Science. for my parallel class I am looking at interfacing sun Grid engine with Oracle 10g services. But I could not find ant API in oracle for me to use globus or any other oracle native API to call the job scheduling ( or even job submitting) functions in 10g. could any one please enligten me on this.I saw a marketing paper on Oracle globus development kit.But could not find any technical documentation on that regard.
    thanks,

    Hi Sajindra,
Check out the Unified scheduler feature of Oracle Database 10g. Unified scheduler allows you to submit jobs that can be both database jobs or non-database jobs (i.e. executed outside the database).
    cheers,

Thanks for the link. I was able to solve the font errors quickly, which is great!
    Unfortunately some other errors remain:

Serial number of failed request:  478

I've tried to follow instructions from the links below:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1778584
    http://www.edaboard.com/thread139363.html
But realized I already have the xorg- 100dpi and 75dpi fonts by checking with the pacman command: pacman -Ssq 100dpi (and 75dpi).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Anyony has dmake and Sun Grid Engine experience ?

Here is my another try to ask for the sharing of using dmake with SGE experience.
Did anyone successfully using dmake+SGE to see compilation performance gain ?
    My orginal post at
    http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=8298&#8298
Thanks for your time and sharing
    tj

We (development team) have created performance tests to compare
build performance in parallel, distributed and grid modes. Unfortunately
our grid is very small - it consists of 1 system, and in this case dmake
works twice faster in distributed mode, than in grid mode. But there is
no limitation in our implementation of grid mode in dmake, so if a build
has enough independent targets, and there is a large grid system - it will
    definitely win.

  • "error: command failed to execute correctly" on several packages

Last night, when I updated before shutting down, I got a few errors, as in the subject. As it was very late, I thought I'd pick it up today.
Unfortunately, the pacman log only lists one of the ones that failed as libgpg-error. The other one that I remember erroring was gawk. There were a few others, maybe four or five, but I couln't reliably recall them all, so won't guess.
Here's a new attempt to reinstall gawk with --debug. I did the same with libgpg-error and the error occurred at the same place, with very similar output, so I think the issue is the same for all failures.

pacman thinks the upgrade/reinstall was successful in that the latest version is installed.
I did a search on the forums and the only other issue that I thought was connected might be microcode not up to date, but I had followed the update instructions some time back and as far as I can tell, the microcode  is up to date.
    I have two main questions:
    1) How do I work out what's causing the error, from above?
    2) Is there a way I can work out which packages gave the error, so I can make sure they're installed properly?
    Thanks.

The following packages also had problems
    ( 2/17) upgrading glibc
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 3/17) upgrading binutils
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 4/17) upgrading coreutils
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 8/17) upgrading gcc
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 9/17) upgrading gcc-fortran
error: command failed to execute correctly
    (10/17) upgrading gcc-libs
error: command failed to execute correctly
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
While trying to compile BerkeleyDB on Solaris 10 x86 ( is there an easier way to get BerkeleyDB running than compiling from source? ) I was confronted with the error message appended.
I used Berkeley 4.4.20 and configured by executing

    PS:
I need the LDAP server for playing with a JAAS LDAP login module and something minimal would be enough. Is there something easier to install than OpenLDAP?

I fail to understand why you're taking all this trouble. Both the Berkeley DB as OpenLDAP are both shipped with Solaris 10/x86 natively. Look into the so called companion cd / dvd. That makes setting all of this up a piece of cake.
Another option could be looking into Blastwave or Sun Freeware.

    Hi Martin,
I don't have a specific answer sorry, however I do recall seeing a number of OSS notes around BPM archiving whilst searching for a different issue last year - have you checked on there for anything relevant to your currnet version and SP level?  There were quite a few notes if memory serves me well!

    Gareth.

  • Sun BPEL engine sets wrong Content-Type on calling an external web service

I have a WSDL for an external web service (which as it happens is running in Websphere locally) and have implemented it as a
partnerlink on a BPEL diagram in an SOA composite project. The binding style is Document and if you use SOAPUI to test it it
works fine. Tracing on the web service's server shows the SOAP request coming in. It has a content-type of text/xml, as expected. If I do a JUnit test from NetBeans based on this WSDL alone it also works - same result. BUT if I do
a full test and call my BPEL process the invocation of this service from BPEL fails.
On the Test result you see
    BPCOR-6135:A fault was not handled in the process scope; Fault Name is http://www.sun.com/wsbpel/2.0/process/executable/SUNExtension/ErrorHandling}systemFault;
(This happens because I did not handle the fault in the BPEL.)
On the trace I see it now has Content-type of application/xop+xml. Why would the Sun BPEL engine change this? I just
accepted the usual defaults when I created the PartnerLink and the Invoke. Anyway, the format of the request doesn't match what the WS server expects, so it fails.
As far as I'm aware I'm just using SOAP1.1. This is NetBeans 6.5 with Glassfish 2.1. I tried with NetBeans 6.7 and it got worse, not better. I would certainly appreciate any advice?
    Thanks

Perhaps when the BPEL file based process calls the WSDL file to execute, their message communication is not correct.
    the head part in the WSDL file should be manually set to "text/xml", or the IDE or Server will use the default value;
    for example as follow:
SOAPUI tool would use the default value "text/xml" to request.(depends the tool support).
NetBeans tool would use the default value "text/xml" to request.
when you do a full test and you do not set the head "context-type" value ,the WSDL file use the server's default head
value"application/xop-xml" so that return the contents under the control of the server's default value.
I hope these will be useful for you.

  • When Install N1 grid engine 6 as execution host

when I try to install the n1 grid engine6 as the execution host this messege appear
    Unsupported local hostname
The current hostname is resolved as follows:
    Hostname: linux.site
    Aliases: linux
    Host Address(es): 127.0.0.2
It is not supported for a Grid Engine installation that the local hostname
contains the hostname "localhost" and/or the IP address "127.0.x.x" of the
    loopback interface.
The "localhost" hostname should be reserved for the loopback interface
("127.0.0.1") and the real hostname should be assigned to one of the
physical or logical network interfaces of this machine.
    Installation failed.
how can I solve this problem ??
please I need the solving as fast as you can

So before i uninstall, may i know if by uninstalling and reinstalling, i will loose my library?
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes shouldn't touch your content or playlists.
That being said, It's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup in case of disasters (of any sort).
i saw your other post on a similar issue where you suggested using a different browser to download the setup. I shall try that meanwhile..
I think you should be okay without having to do that ... that's more for when the iTunes installer doesn't download at all, or gives a "not a valid win32 application" or "invalid signature" message. We seem to be getting beyond that point with your one.

  • Analyze Command failing in 8.1.7.0 and hanging

The database version is 8.1.7.0 on Sun Solaris 5.8
Since 3 weeks the scheduled Analyze cronjobs which executes every sunday fails with "Unable to Extend Temp segment" ultimately hangs my Live Database. On investigation i did find that the issue is a known bug in 8.1.7.0 and the same is addresses in 8.1.7.1 (BUG 1307247). The temporary tablespace has around 9Gb of free space.
My question is how come all these days the cron ran successfully but failing since 3 weeks. Is there any ways where in i can find out How much temp space is required for the analyze to get successfull.
Could some one help me in this regard...
