Support package update error
Dear all,
I am currently update my system.
The current version is ECC6 EHP7 based on NW7.4

I would like to upgrade to SPS level 5
We use DB2 LUW 10.5
In the update phase, we encountered an error message:

I have checked another system which is also ehp7 based on NW740 0005, the view "V_DSH_TF_DETAIL" totally doesn't exist, but that is oracle database, here in my case is DB2 database, I have searched for SAP OSS but seems no sap notes for it.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? Big thanks!
Best regards,
Fresh man
Hi Ashutosh,
Many thanks for your reply, yes this definitely solve my problem.
But I feel quite confused what's the real reason.
Several weeks ago, I update a system (EHP7+Oracle) from 74002 to 74005, with SUM, no such problem, however this time, its EHP7+DB2 10.5, from 74002 to 74004, with SPAM, met this kind of problem...
The support packages are totally the same...
is it because I should upgrade from 02 to 05 directly? 04 has problem?
or I should update with SUM instead of SPAM?
or it is because of DB2??
or I should involve other packages like something like ST into the update queue?
Best regards,
Fresh

Problem with Support Package SAP_BASIS (Error Stop) IMPORT_PROPER
Hi Everyone,
i want to apply Support Pack for SAP_BASIS. Now Its Level is 0009 (ECC 6.0).
i did import the SPs SAPKB70010 and SAPKB70011. We only want until Stack 11.
The test scenario was without an error. But during the Standard scenario there occurred a problem:
SPAM Status: Error Stop
Import Phase: IMPORT_PROPER
I guess there are different reasons:
1) We didn´t make a SPAM update before! it´s still version 7.00/0021.
2) I have no idea if the guy before me made a kernel update.
And now i wanted to update SPAM to version 27. but first i should "repair" this problem because the SAP_BASIS is still in the queue.
Is there a possibility to delete the queue, update SPAM and the Kernel and then try it again with this support package?
We cannot go further than Stack 11!
please help me!Hi,
This is not because of SPAM version nor the upgrade of kernal. If that was a SPAM problem then it will
not allow you to define the queue.
There are some know problems with this basis patches please read the note .Just run the import again this error would not occur.
If this error occurs then post the import logs for further analysis.
Regards,
Vamshi. -
While Import support package getting error in R/3
Hi All,
I am getting one error following error while importing support package in R/3.
Open data extraction requests
The system has found a number of open data extraction requests. These should be processed before starting the object import process, as changes to DDIC structures could prevent data extraction requests from being read after the import, thus causing them to terminate. Call the Customizing Cockpit data extraction transaction and process all open extraction requests.
Can Anybody aware of this error. How do I delete the open data extraction process specified here.
Thx & Regds,
SGKHi,
I think I have to stop extraction process in LBWE or R/3. Can anybody tell me how to stop extraction process.
Thx & Regds,

- Return code:
- Error message: TP_INTERFACE_FAILURE
how can I remove this error? please help me urgently.
thanks
NANIHi,
You have to add extra addon (CRT) support pack with SAP Basis support pack. It is necessary for solution manager.
Please can you tell me which support pack you are installing and what is your system version. (e.g SAP ECC 6.0 or SAP R/3 4.7 etc) -

Hi,
We tried to upgrade EA-GLTRADE in our ECC 6.0 SR 2 system with
SAPKGPGD07 patch during which, we encounter with some error at

Note:
We have already updated the Kernal with latest patch and SPAM with

We also applied dependency patches for SAPKGPGD07.
Please give us the steps to resolve it or to reset the Queue so that

Support Package Manager: SPAM/SAINT Update
Hi,
I downloaded the SPAM/SAINT Update and executed it with SAPCAR in the directory of the Application Server Folder. The original file KD74053.sar (6767 kb) is still in the folder, but a new file 'signature.smf' (5 kb) appeared.
What is that one for?
Next, I think that I should be able to take a next step with transaction SPAM (Support Package --> Load Packages --> From Application Server), but it's 'blanked out' and not accessible.
What are the next steps and how do I really get the SPAM/SAINT update working, so I can proceed to my actual goal, the Support Package Update.
Thanks!Hi,
To reset DDIC password you could go with
SQL> select bname from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
If the user SAP* exists then delete the user with below command
SQL> delete from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
Run the below command to verify whether user deletion was successful.
SQL> select bname from usr02 where mandt='000' and bname='SAP*'
SQL> commit;
After that login to client 000 with SAP* and password as pass
reset the password for user DDIC with SAP* user.
Thanks,

Worst case scenario for spam update error
hi friends
i need to know what is the worst case scenario if our support package stack update(SPAM) process fails. I am asking this question because we dont have a DR system.I mean we dont have test server to check our restore & recovery. We have ECC 5.0 and our SPAM updates are long overdue. I need to convince the management to prioritize this activity and my boss thinks that since we dont have test server if anything goes wrong then we might have to restore the db which he is not in favor of.
i would really help if you could provide me some suggestions.
thanks in advance.
regardsHello Nathan,
Very first you need to convince your management that since you didn't had the Support package update in your system actually you are not having the latest corrections available in the system. As per Best practise you should keep the systems to the latest available support package levels.
Now, to your question.Support package update is a easy but critical activity. Easy because it is bit effortless and critical because major changes are involved with the corrections. UPdate for BASIS support package can bring your system to HIghly unstable state (I am just talking about Worst case scenarios) as they update the system basis tables. Application component packages if aborted due to some errors can have problems in the business cycles.
So anyways you'll have to keep proper backup of your system available just to make sure if, by chance you are not able to complete the SP update under the given downtime window you should have the possibility to restore and release the systems to the business users.
This will not be the new thing you'll be doing as majority of the customers don't have DR server to the rescue.
You can discuss with your team and decide a suitable backup strategy.
I hope it helps.
Best Regards

I am trying to update to iTunes 10.5 and am getting a Apple Software update error. "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. ?? I can't uninstall the Apple Software Update from my Control Panel. It states "Fatal error during installation" Please HELP!!!
I am experiencing the exact same issue during the installtion process for iTunes 10.5.
I uninstalled all Apple components but when I attempted to uninstall the Apple Software Update I received the same message: "Fatal error during installtion." I was able to repair the Apple Software Update but still could not install iTunes 10.5 afterwards.
I have tried everything that I could find on these discussions pages as well as other suggestions on third party sites. I continue to receive the error message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I was able to uninstall and reinstall QuickTime 7.7.1. During the reinstalltion process I received the same message (There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.) But after clicking "OK" the installtion process was succesful. PLEASE HELP! -
Each time I attempt to download the new itunes 10.5 I keep getting the following error message:
Product: Apple Software Update -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SoftwareUpdate_UnregServer, location: C:\Program Files\Apple Software Update\SoftwareUpdate.exe, command: /UnregServer
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Any Ideas of how to solve this one? After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed! Thank you very much! -

Observed that error says `entry for SOTR_TEXT rejected - language not installed`
I have not installed the language import till now. I am wondering that that could be an issue.
My logs are keep updating. symptom tells than till import is in the progress.
Could someone reply, Does the Language import must for Support package installation ?.
Now Spam screen says that `Main import ` on the screen.
Thanks
ThirumalHi Vani,
Thank you very much,
SAP_Basis package has been successfully completed. As u said language import not required to update support packages.
It took me around 7 hours to complete the update. Now i have started the Rest of the Business package.
It seems its totally killing my time. I think it shouldnot take this much time to complete a single package I need to install other packages like .
SAP_ABA, PI_Basis,SAP_BW and ST_PI.
Hi Vamshi,
Thank you. Finally package completed.
Thanks and Regards

Regards,
Prashant.Hello Prashant.
Check this supporting SAP note 1010640. It will solve your problem.
This is typical problem when you upgrade from < SP8 to higher version.
You need to Undeploy the CAF components from the system using SDM first and then reply the patches from JSPM.
It should go with out errors.
Let us know if this worked.
*Reward points for helpful answer.

Importing Support Packages - Error during XPRA_EXECUTION
Hello,
Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4
Operation System: Windows Server 2008 X64
I´m facing with an error during an importing of support packages in our Solution Manager Ehp1 system (SPS 20 to SPS 25).
I checked the import logs of the queue and I see in there the following error:
Program terminated (job: RDDEXECL, no.: 02083200)
See job log
Execution of programs after import (XPRA)
End date and time : 20110126020847
Ended with return code: ===> 12 <===
When I checked the job log I see in there this:
Job started
Step 001 started (program RDDEXECL, variant , user ID DDIC)
All DB buffers of application server SAPSM were synchronized
Internal session terminated with a runtime error (see ST22)
Job cancelled
I went to ST22 and I see in there that specific short dump which show:
Short text
XSLT: No valid XML source
What happened?
The transformation is not possible since the XML source document cannot
be parsed.
What can you do?
Note which actions and input led to the error.
For further help in handling the problem, contact your SAP administrator.
You can use the ABAP dump analysis transaction ST22 to view and manage
termination messages, in particular for long term reference.
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_XSLT_RUNTIME_ERROR', was not
caught in
procedure "TRANSFORM_FROM_XML" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
Either the source document contains invalid XML or it is handled
incorrectly in the ABAP program that called the transformation.
How to correct the error
The most common cause of this error is a conflict between the encoding
specified in the declaration <?xml version="1.0" encoding="..."?> in the
document and the actual encoding of the data.
If the document is held in an ABAP string, the actual encoding is the
system code page. If this does not match the declaration, a parsing
error may occur.
These conflicts are a particular issue when XML documents are produced
in one system and then imported into a system with a different code page
(as strings).
For this reason, XML documents should be held as binary data (X strings)
, if they are extracted from the system or accessed from outside.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"XSLT_BAD_SOURCE_CONTEXT" "CX_XSLT_RUNTIME_ERROR"
"CL_SM_BFR_CONTENT_TRANSPORT===CP" or "CL_SM_BFR_CONTENT_TRANSPORT===CM00E"
"TRANSFORM_FROM_XML"
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"TRANSFORM_FROM_XML" "(METHOD)", or its possible occurrence must be declared in
the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:
Can you help how to correct this situation for I can continue the update of support packages!
Best regards,
João Dimas - PortugalHello William,
Which import logs do you refer?
I pasted in my first message the log of import... that is the unique error that it appeared.
I checked the SLOG:
