Suppressing Back Button on First Slide

I have a created a custom Playback Control with just the play
(=forward) and back buttons. My reviewers liked the results, but
criticised that the back button shouldn't appear on the first
slide. Is there any way to get around this? I am using Captivate
1.01.1418 and do not have any flash editing tools or
experience.

Forward / back buttons jump one slide

Hello. I have a problem.
When i use specific skin (designed by someone else), and when I publish / preview the presentation and I press the Forward button on the playbar, the presentation doesn't go on the next slide, but on the slide after next.
Example, if I am on 3rd slide and press forward, the presentation will jump on 5th slide, if I press forward again it goes on 7th slide, if on 7th slide I press the back button it goes on 5th and it also marks as read the slides in between (slide 4 and 6 in this examples). If i let the presentation to flow normally and don't press buttons everything is ok.
Sometimes it happens the button to work normally, but not very often which is a reason why I think its not because of the skin. I am using Captivate 6 for this
Really don't have an idea what should be the problem. if i set another skin on the projext everything is OK, the problem is showing with one skin only...
Did anyone know what would be the solution for this problem?

If the problem is evident with one particular skin, then the person that created or modified this skin has done something to cause the issue. You need to go back to THAT person and ask them to look into it. If you have the FLA file that they used to generate the skin then perhaps another AS3 programmer could investigate the issue for you if the original developer is unavailable or unreachable. But if you only have the SWF of the skin file, and the original developer cannot debug it for you, the only option you really have is to use a different skin that doesn't have the issue.

Phase event InitMethod() is calling 4 times on Back button click???

Hi Everyone,
My Jdev version is 11.1.2.3.0.
I have developed one ADF application with 3 pages.
First page has a button to move to second and third pages. In the same way second and third pages have the Back buttons to first page. Everything is working very fine.
But the first page has phase event InitMethod which executes when the page loads. At the starting of the Initmethod i kept the some code to return back if any event takes place that is also working fine.
But When i press Back button in second or third page then the InitMethod of First page is being called for four times.
What can be the reason?
How could i control this behaviour?

I also think the same that it's not possible. Now my issue is how to get my requirement.
FYI..
To open Classification screen directly we have a function module CLFM_OBJECT_CLASSIFICATION. But if I want to open IA06
Inspection characterstics screen we don't have any FM or API to do the same.
So how will I get my requirement done. That why I use the BDC call transaction to open IA06 Insp. characterstics screen but here I am facing this Back issue.
Please advice if there is any suggestion.

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

Back button keeps appearing on Q slides

I have captivate 5.0. The back button keeps appearing on Q slides. I believe it appears when I re-open a doc (and possibly when I save). I delete it and it keeps reappearing.
Any ideas on how to stop this? I have a CBT with 12 questions and it's getting time consuming to delete it repeatedly.

you're right, searching is ... inconsistent...
I did have some success searching on this topic using "quiz back button site:forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_captivate/" in google. The first result is a post from lefthook77 which I think is the one lilybiri mentions. But even clicking the google link doesn't take you directly to the thread, but gets you in the general area.
On the search on the adobe forum I used "quiz back button" and it shows that same thread, 2nd one down.
I tried the terms you used and I think "back button" was probably too general to give good results. When I added 'quiz' as a search term that helped float that recent thread closer to the top. Having said that, I really only had the success because I knew what I was looking for. Backing into it like this was much easier than coming at it head on.
as with any search process, there are nuances and subtle differences to the keywords and syntax between the different systems.

When I open a second Firefox browser window, the URL address window, instead of showing the URL, says "Go to a Web Site;" also, and more importantly, the "back" button is greyed out. This is a new problem, and the first Firefox window I open works fine.

After I open the first Firefox browser window, any additional window I open does not open my homepage, but opens a blank page with "New Tab" showing on the tab. An orange "Firefox" tab with a drop down arrow shows at the upper left hand corner of the screen. All of the options (File, Edit, etc.) are greyed out, however they will work if you move your cursor over them.
The URL address window says "Go to a Web Site". After I've gone to a website, the back button remains greyed out and I am not able to go back to a previous page. My RoboForm and Netcraft toolbars only show up in an abbreviate form. The add-on bar doesn't show up at all.
Again, this is a recent problem, and only happens after I've opened one browser window (which works fine) and then open additional browser windows (as few as one additional).

I had this same problem. Seems to be caused by the web developer tool bar FF extension (this started happening after a recent update to that extension). After disabling it, my FF is back to normal :)

I have SharePoint 2013 enterprise using ADFS for authentication. I have an issue where the first time going to a site where you do not have access and clicking the back button you're returned to the root site instead of the site you
started from.
ie:
1) at site http://www.sharepoint.com/sites/finance/home.aspx
2) browse to
http://www.sharepoint.com/sites/finance/private/home.aspx
3) receive a message: you do not have access to this site ((oops went to the wrong location - I'll hit the back button))
4) click the browser back button
5) get returned to http://www.sharepoint.com/pages/home.aspx
This only happens the first time browsing to a site that I do not have rights to, after this I can browse to the same site and hit the browser back button and return to the correct site, or any other site that I do not have access to.
Any ideas as to why this happens? Ideas of where to start looking?

Hi Robert,
From your description, when you receive access denied message and hit back button in browser, it redirects you to the root site but not previous site. However, this just happens at the first time.
You may try to use some tool or check log which can tell us how does it handle the request when you hit the button. And compare the issue time and non-issue time.
I'd suggest you use Netmon tool:

Why does the new Keynote slideshow briefly flash the first slide when multitasking back from another app during a slideshow?

I switch between the Notes Plus app and Keynote app during my lecture. I show the slides in Keynote and when I need to draw sketches and do detailed derivations, I multitask to Notes Plus and use it as my White Board and then return to Keynote to continue my lecture. When I switch back to Keynote, the very first slide flashes once and then advances to the slide from where I left. Before the upgrade of Keynote on Sept 17th, this did not happen. Can this bug be fixed?

I have the same problem but in a different way. I have lots of links to other slides in my presentation, when I click on a link, the next slide flashes and then I see the slide linked. I really hope this can be fixed...

Phantom Play Button Appearing in middle of first slide

I have a Play button appearing in the middle of my first slide and cannot figure out where it is coming from. I
do not have any selections made for a control panel . Here is a capture of what I am getting. Anyone else have this problem? I really need help on this one. Never saw it before.

You may believe it to be a "Phantom", but the odds are you actually told it to be there.
Try clicking Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End.
My money is betting that you have cleared the "Auto Play" check box at the top of that screen.

Do you know which iMac model family you have? There are four families dating back to 1998. Troubleshooting depends on that. This forum covers the first three families made from 1998 to 2005. iMacs newer than that get a separate forum.
Do you have the system disks that came with the computer? If so, and depending on model, you may be able to start from the CD/DVD and then make the jump to booting normally.
All computers has a little battery on the logic board that holds date, time, and some important startup parameters when the compuer is taken off wall power for a short time. If your battery was very old and died, then the settings the computer needs to start may have been lost when you unplugged it. For some Mac modles, booting from a CD or DVD gets around this temporarily, but ultimately the battery needs to be replaced. The internal batteries are cheap but can be hard to access on some iMacs like the G4 "desklamp" model

Back button doesn't work first time

I'm running 3.6.16 under Windows 7 on a Dell laptop. For about the last few weeks I've found when Firefox is loaded and I move from the home page to another, the Back button remains greyed out and I can't go back to the home page. This is true no matter what I set as my home page. After this first transition, the Back button works for the second and all subsequent transitions. That is, as soon as I load the third page in a session the Back button is enabled.
This was the case in 3.6.15 and 3.6.16. I don't remember whether the problem started exactly when I upgraded from 3.6.14 to 3.6.15 or not.

I had the same problem. Disabling the MacAfee Site Advisor plug-in fixed it.

Skin - Play button in center of first slide

On Captivate presentations created by by predecessor, a round "Play" button appeared in the center of the first slide as part of the applied skin. I'm using the same skin in Captivate 5, but do not get the play button on the first slide.
Is there a setting I am missing?

Try editing the preferences. Press Shift+F8. Then click Project > Start and End.
My guess is that Auto Play is enabled and needs to be DE-selected as shown below.

I do not get the back button icon on my browser. It's not just 9.01 it's all of the browser except for the first. Please Advise

If I go to a web page and I want to go back to the previous page there is no icon to do it with. It use to be in the top left corner of the browser. The way I do it now is click on the left mouse button and there's a back there. Please advise
