Suprised at lack of service from Apple!

When I logged onto this form I thought my problem would be addressed. But this is not the case. Where is Apple? I am surprised and dismayed that there is no response from Apple. Is this the norm? Does Apple not help out here?
My issue is this error message:
Safari can’t open the page
“https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ACAuthWeb.…79ae23&path=/
login.jspa%3FsuccessURL%3D%252Findex.jspa” because it couldn’t
establish a secure connection to the server “support.apple.com”.

I did the following and it solved the problem.
Re: Certificate Issues

I HAVE THE ANSWER EVERYONE!
Alright. Print this off and to take care of the issue.
Insert your Macintosh OS X Install Disc 1 into your computer. Now restart your computer. When you hear the start up chime, hold the "C" key until you see the spinning jog wheel. Let go of the "C" key and you will be brought to an install window. Select English as your main language and continue through the process. When it asks you where you would like to install Macintosh OS X, select the Macintosh HD and then select options. Do JUST and Archive and Install. This will take a while, but once it is done, it will resolve all certificate issues including SSL in mail for e-mails. After this, perform all of the software updates on your computer.
Note: This WILL NOT wipe your hard drive.
Have fun and good luck everyone. And thank you everyone for the help.

It can only be serviced in the country where it was originally sold.
An iPhone sold in an EU member State can be serviced in any other EU member nation. Malaysia is NOT a member of the EU. It can only be serviced in Malaysia.

  • HT1933 battery issues and customer services from apple store

I have been a iphone user since january 2013. i have found some issues with the battery of my iphone 5 and booked appointment several times to report to it. the problem was battery dies unexpectedly, for example it dies when it shows even arround 20% remaining sometimes. every times i have made checked it with genius bar the found no problem using there diagnostic system. On 22 december 2013 again i have done some diagnostic test with apple genius bar and they reformat everything and said problem will be solved. however again on 24 december i had to take my phone to genius bar as they problem was still there and it was died suddenly even there were more than 20% charge remaining. Then i got to the stratford apple store and showed my phone to one of the manager named Harnson. i have showed the dead phone and describe him the situation. he tried to switch it on and found that it shows no battery is low as 2% and need to charge. then he take me to genius bar to diagnostic the phone again. in the genius  bar when his colleague has switched it on then it showed 24% charge remaining. then i explain that this device has no reliability. it doesn't show the actual percentage. it was 2% few minutes ago and died and now it is showing 24% without any charging. then he diagnostic it again and found no problem....
he replied to me your phone is perfectly find according to the diagnostic report. so they can not do anything about it. i was so much frustrated about the whole service. the staff at the bar was so muuuuuuchhhhh unfriendly and unhelpful. later he talked to one of his colleague and suggested me to pay 100 pound or something to replace with a new phone..
i felt so bad and i was not expect this sort of service from the world famous apple company.. staffs attitude are genuinely very bad and arrogant.
    1. how can i prove that there are some problem with the battery. even they have seen that it turns from 2% to 24% without charging. the device is a fault since i bought it. but as it is not showing in the diagnostic test the refused to take any action about it.
    2. bad attitude and arrogant staff made me feel even worst.
please note that this staff are nice with white people and im an asian. is that can be a reason of having bad services from apple?????????????

no they gave me a new 3g 16 gig, i did ask for a 3gs....it is like for like when it comes to replacing....but i think i was pushing my, luck, but im very happy not to have paid the 139 quid, so a happy customer I am, my problem was that i was out of warranty, i did not take out the extra protection warranty ( silly yes, leason learnt... i hope so )
It was the guy who served me who was fantastic, i cannot fault him, he did not have to wave the extra monies, but he said that i seemed genuine, and the fact i did not jail brake my phone or want to, even know he prompted me to as a suggestion , maybe just maybe this all worked in my favour and the result is i have an iphone that works..... Now my issue is with O2 my telco carrier in the UK, as of Nov this year, O2 pay and go customers are in-titled to have there phones unlocked if they have had there phones for more than 12 months. My phone is 15 months old(all with O2) , so an unlock i can get, but because i have a "replacement phone", the imei number is different to what my initial phone was, they are saying i have to wait another 12 months.... I got a SMS message from O2 today that my unlock application was unsuccessful ..... because i have a different IMEI number to which i started with..... just when u think it is easy...WHAM .... so i have to take on O2 now, more phone calls etc...... Any suggestions anyone, has this happened to anyone you know ?
    Cheers

  • IPhone 4 catching fire and lack of support from Apple?

On Saturday when I was charging my phone I noticed a burning smell and immediately ran over to my iphone and pulled out the charger cable which was glowing red and smoke was coming from both it and my iphone 4. My phone although slightly fire damaged in the charger dock was still operational, however, when the battery ran out and I tried to charge again on a different charger it would not recharge. I took my phone into the apple store (Toronto Eaton Centre, Canada) and received terrible customer service. The 'genius' took maybe 5 seconds to not listen to my complaint before running off with my phone and charger and then coming back with a new handset and cord and asking me to pay for the replacement. I have since spoken to the manager of the store who was equally unhelpful or concerned about the issue and informed me that he couldn't help because they have since lost my old handset in the apple warehouse system.
I am not only concerned that my current handset could now catch fire, but I am also concerned at the level of disinterest from a company about what is clearly a dangerous fault. What could have happened if I was asleep when it was charging?
As a consumer, this is my first apple product and I had been looking at buying a macbook very soon, however following this incident where I have been penalised through no fault of my own for using a dangerous handset. Then the total lack of concern, apology or interest demostrated by apple has put me off ever using apple products again.
I would urge others to be very very careful when charging their handsets as this could have been a lot worse. If your phone is damaged certainly do not expect any support or assistance from Apple.
    Regards
    Colin

The iPhone was out of warranty.
    It has suffered physical damage.
The Genius Bar staff evaluated it and found it and the charging cord non-serviceable*
The customer was presented a price for OOW replacement
Customer declined, and decided to escalate to a supervisor.
These are pretty much the only facts at play here.  The rest is emotion and speculation.  The asterisk is for this.  You'll have to trust most of this, including the fact that I have a few credentials in Public and Occupational Safety
*If the iPhone was considered a safety hazard, it was very likely placed in a fire-resistive environment.  Once it goes in, taking it out is a very serious matter that involves the safety of personnel, the building and other occupants.  During the escalation, chances are very high that the iPhone was disposed of according to safety protocols.  To have given it back to the customer would have been a serious liability issue.  The iPhone wasn't "lost," it was neutralized.
If the customer does not want the OOW replacement, the Apple Genius Bar management or staff is unikely to hand him/her something that could be dangerous or volatile.  It would be irresponsible to do so.

  • Lack of support from Apple re iTunes.

For 4 weeks now I have been trying to get help from Apple and I have been sent from pillar to post!
Initially, after downloading the latest version of iTunes, I found that I could no longer purchase any music. I was receiving: "An unknown error occurred (0x80092013)" but after some 3 weeks, this changed to, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202)".
I have searched for help on the support community (more helpful than Apple) and followed all the suggestions offered to me - but still no luck. NOW Apple tell me that it's not their fault, the problem is my end and they tell me to phone and PAY MORE for their Technical Support Team to fix it! See my latest reply below:
"As Sue has mentioned Apple cannot fix this for you because it is related to end user settings on your computer. I did speak with my manager and our engineering team, and they advised that all relevant information that is available to the iTunes Store Staff has been provided, and the next and only available step to assist with this resolution is for you to contact the Apple Care Technical Support Team, and see if they can help. The iTunes Store has exhausted all options and provided all information that we have available.
A technical Advisor will be able to tell you about Apple's complimentary and fee-based support options as well as assist you in determining what option might be most helpful in this case. To contact them directly please call:
    (44) 0844 209 0611"
    I replied thus:
"I do not believe I am reading this!
Everything worked perfectly until I updated to the latest version of iTunes - and, NOW, you are telling me the problem is at my end?
What about the hundreds (if not more) who are having similar problems? What about all the money I've spent on 3 products - not to mention all the songs I've purchased?
Why can't I access Apple Care Technical Support online? Couldn't they access my system if I give the required permission?
Why should I have to pay more (in reference to your "fee-based support options"?
I have already spent more than £60 downloaded suggested "fix" programmes and none of them helped.
Do I need to take legal action?
I am thoroughly disgusted with your total lack of care for a loyal customer!
    Martin Mahoney."
PLEASE SHARE with as many as possible as I am sick and tired of big-business being able to just wipe their hand with their customers' problems (once they've got our money).

No problem, I could probably have struck a better tone. Couple of months away from 50 myself and don't always have the patience that I used to...
Ouch on the Speedy PC Pro front.
Believe me, I've been there. Beating my head against a brick wall, trying my own ideas and the ones I can find online, and nothing works. Sometimes we have to put the problem to one side and come back in a new frame of mind. Set yourself a time limit and know from the outset that you might not be successful in that session, that way it is not so frustrating if you're still no further forward at the end of it.
The essence of the posts I've tracked down so far is a suggestion that your PC either can't see the correct servers to talk to, or having found them has decided they can't be trusted and therefore doesn't let iTunes do its thing. As I say this isn't an issue I've ever had, or read up on, so I don't have any instant suggestions for what to do next, but I will keep my thinking cap on.
One of the linked threads I read mentions "an ongoing issue that Apple are aware of". It is best to take these claims with a pinch of salt, but there may be an identifiable common cause that is affecting you and a (relatively) small number of other users. Apple tend not to make pronouncements but they do keep working on improvments. Just because they can't/won't troubleshoot with you on an individual basis doesn't mean they do nothing. You might find the next build of iTunes fixes things for you regardless of what you do in the meantime.
Your existing content isn't lost to you. It will still play in iTunes or on your Nano, and you can still import CDs to your library.

  • Like so many others I have not been able to access or send emails with iCloud now loosing business. Not good enough and lack of info from Apple is also not good enough!

Like so many others I have not been able to access or send emails on iCloud.  This is now loosing me business! Not Good enough Apple and your lack of information is poor customer service.

Unfortunately, Apple does not yet allow merging of Apple ID's. if you were once using [email protected] as your Apple ID then there is no way to link that ID with the new one to avoid losing the previous data under that old ID. You will have to either go back to using the old ID to save the old data or just keep both, which you arfe allowed to do.

  • Refuse service from Apple center?!

My iMac is 7 yrs old, it fails to bootup into the OS.  I've tried rebooting from the startup disk and failed. Took it to Apple Center in HK, they say this model is too old and you can't order parts and refuse to order parts! What can I do?

Look for 3rd party service providers. They won't be able to order parts from Apple - Apple doesn't keep them around past about 5 years after the model quit being produced - but they can look for parts through salvage from other machines.
The other possibility of course is to get a new(er) computer. Ask the store if they will extract the hard drive from yours. Once you get it out, put it in an enclosure and copy the data onto the new machine. Of course if you have good backups you won't even need to do this.
I feel for you. My wife's iMac is about that same vintage - one of the first Intel models - and if anything on it fails she is going to be unable to get repairs done.
    Best of luck.

  • Unbelieveable lack of support from Apple (error -50 issue)

Well I've just updated iTunes again and of course, I still have the -50 error trying to download the video I purchased over a month ago. That's at least 3 or 4 releases of the software and still no fix. And before somebody recommends that I do the things mentioned on this forum (like deleting the .tmp file and rebuilding your music), I've done all of those. Also, I purchased a ringtone the other day for my iPhone and it downloaded just fine SO THE ISSUE IS OBVIOUSLY RELATED TO iTunes and a large (over 2gig) video file and has nothing to do with my computer.
What really gets me is that I've posted more than once on this subject, along with other people, and have absolutely no support from Apple. Oh well, at least I have a $100 voucher I can use for something. Maybe I can get my $10 back for the video I paid for....
I also have a mac Mini so I really consider myself a good Apple customer. To bad they don't really seem to care....

  • Internet Sharing + Lion = some lack of respect from Apple!

Snow Leopard worked great, although I had some issues sharing my built-in airport connection with PC's....
Now, all got better. Nothing works. Spent some hours on the web trying everything that worked for others.
I have a slick 3.2. GHz i3 Imac, with the built-in aiport utility (not very useful after all!)
My issue is that Macbook air, Ipad and Iphone can connect to the imac, but internet connectivity is NOT available. Don't even start me by trying to connect a PC again....
    Alredy tried:
    ( i)  changing the network name;
    (ii) changing channels;
    (iii) changing passwords, simpler passwords, no passwords;
    (iv) putting manually the DHCP
    (v) with several IP adresses.
(vi) DNS Servers as well. Only Google DNS worked....for googleing, nothing else. You try to hit a link and doesn't work either.
I was recommended to set up a router. I refuse. i didn't purchase this computer, with the built-in airport express so I have to set a router.
I searched for some official press release from Apple saying something. Not even that. Not even saying their are sorry for the inconvenient. The google experts at the store just told me to wait for an update....
If someone knows how to fix this, if there is something to be done, I'll appreciate.
    Have a nice weekend!

I still don't know what you mean by this.  AirPort Utility is an installable program.  Why do you refer to it as "built-in"?
I have established an Ethernet PPPoE connection.
Is your Mac connected directly (via an Ethernet cable) to a DSL modem?
I'm sharing my connection through my built-in router.
I asked you before to explain what you mean by "built-in router" but you haven't.  Do you mean the "Internet Sharing" option in the Sharing panel of System Preferences?
My TCP/IP config is using DHCP with manual address input.
There are several programs where this type of thing can be configured.  In which program and panel do you see that option?

  • Macbook pro battery and service from apple

I have just bought the MBP online on the student package where you are supposed to get a free ipod nano by sending back a form to get the refund. I phoned apple about this and no-one knew what to do I was passed to 3 different departments then I was told to go to the apple website and download the form to send it back. I did this and when I got to the site there were lots of downloadable forms and none of them specified anything to do with student packages and free ipod nano's. I have also discovered that the battery doesnt seem to last very long and overheats. This is worrying me slightly as an over heating battery could be a fire hazzard and I spent just over 1400 pounds with upgrades at that price I would expect it to be running perfectly can anyone tell me if this is normal for the battery to overheat and is it normal for the battery to last less than a day. Also will I recieve terrible aftercare from apple all the time. every time I phone no-one seems to know what to do. the last time I called the guy actually tried to pretend he couldnt hear me to get me off the phone until he realised that he was caught out and the line was fine. it seems they will go to any length not to help you.

how does the battery overheat? the mbp can certainly get hot, but if it is only the battery getting hot then you should call technical support
operating time on battery depends on how heavily the system is being used, editing/rendering video flattens mine in 2-3 hours, but with casual use it lasts much longer
you must order the ipod at the same time you order the mac, then once it is all delivered you submit a claim online and apple gives you back £95

  • Inactive Gift Card - How do you get constructive service from Apple?

I bought a Gift Card on 22 October from the local supermarket.  It apparently wasn't activated by them.  Somehow Apple have made that my problem.  My first request was answered by a computer.  I am now dealing with humans who do not seem to have any authority to resolve the issue.  This is a ridiculous waste of peoples time over something that is relatively simple.
How does anyone ever get Apple to resolve an issue?  Is anyone within Apple actually authorised to make a decision?  Honestly, I am exasperated.  How does anyone get Apple to resolve these issues?
For the last 3 weeks I have been patient - a model citizen.  Here is my latest email.  Apple keep removing its content.  They have also removed previous threads.  I have edited it slighltly for privacy reasons if that is their problem:
This verging on the ridiculous.  I was quite excited to get my first iPhone.  Now I am not.  This has taken weeks to resolve.  It has included my returning to the store to be told that they can not help me and to contact Apple.  I contacted Apple, number [########] and received nothing but an automated response that had absolutely nothing to do with the inactive card.  Apple did nothing else and then sent me a satisfaction survey.  I could not believe that.
[#######]  is my second attempt.  I have now spent hours trying to get this resolved.  We are talking about NZ$30 here! It is not the crown jewels.  It is not the value of an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
I have proved that I purchased the card, again and again.  Obviously, for whatever reason, it was not activated at the store.
We have consumer laws in New Zealand.  I know them well.  I should never have let the store send me back to Apple as under our consumer laws it is the stores problem to solve.  It should not have been my problem and I should not have been put to this trouble.  I am not a criminal.  I purchased an iTunes card that didn't work.  That should be Apple's problem and the Countdown Store's problem.
So that this is in language that hopefully Apple can understand - iMad.  Yes, very angry.  Angrier than an 'Angry Bird'.
    What I will do is:
Tell everyone I know not to buy an iTunes card.  There is no service associated with it.
Tell everyone I know that Apple spends weeks messing you around and does not actually provide any service.
Tell everyone I know that Apple has a great product let down by poor service processes.
What I do want to make very clear is that I do not hold you or [name] responsible.  At least I am dealing with humans after the nonsense automated response I first received.  However, someone in Apple somewhere must be able to make a decision.  Whoever it is and wherever they are please pass on the following message - STOP MESSING ME AROUND!  I deserve an iPad2 for the time you have taken out of my life.  I can never get those hours back.

We have consumer laws in New Zealand.  I know them well.  I should never have let the store send me back to Apple as under our consumer laws it is the stores problem to solve.
You have let the original store off the hook? I think this is where I would spend all my focus. They need to activate it, not Apple.

  • IPhone 4 Display woes and no Apple customer service from Apple.

Just purchased 2 iPhone 4s yesterday and get home and they both have developed a yellowish tint in the corner. I then noticed on my phone a dark blob in the middle. All in addition to the iphone having to require me to buy the bumpers that I don't want.
I have called Apple, the store doesn't have any. Called customer care, they want me to pay $30 per phone to ship them back and wait a week. I have no house phone so I cannot be without a phone. I don't have a credit card so I cannot afford to have them draft my funds. I just bought 2 64 3g iPads and so I'm very frustrated.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do other than return the phones back to the store and go with another provider?
I love Apple, but this is just silly.

Get used to awful tech support and costumer service if you stay with at&t/apple
Funny how they have to give Droids away to get people signed up, yet even w/ known issues iPhones are still the ones people want to own. Personally I had a yellow screen iPhone. The local store exchanged it for me, no prob. Took about 5 min. I can't imagine getting better customer service at Verizon. In fact I know you can't from personal experience.

  • I want to erase scratches from my ipod classic 160 GB, is there a service from Apple who can do this?

    Hello,
Is their a way to erase the scratches from my ipod classic by an Apple service?

No, Apple does not offer such a service. You might try something like Brasso, but generally nothing will really remove scratches.

  • Great service from Apple Photo Services Customer Support

This isn't a question, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due:
I have some friends who run a small dance school and made them a souvenir book of my photos from their most recent recital. Several parents who saw the book wanted to order copies, and I said I'd get more if they were willing to pay the actual cost. I ended up with nine requests, and told them the books should be ready by the end of this week.
With plenty of time, I transmitted my order about two weeks ago and specified standard delivery. When the books shipped, the notification email I got said they'd be delivered Monday. On Monday I received the standard small shipping box containing ONE book. The other eight copies were missing, even though FedEx tracking said the delivery was complete.
I emailed APSCS and got back an email from a support person named Duana. She (at least I assume it's a she) said that sometimes a multiple-book order would ship in two cartons, even though FedEx only assigns one tracking number. She said that if I hadn't received the rest of the books by the end of Tuesday, I should email her back. She said she would be on her "weekend" Wednesday and Thursday, but would watch for my response on Friday when she was back at work.
By the end of Tuesday, the missing books still hadn't arrived, so that evening I sent another email. I got a reply back from Duana saying my timing was good -- she was 15 minutes away from leaving for her weekend! She said she would re-place the order and try to have it expedited as much as possible.
Today (Thursday) I received a carton containing the replacement order of eight books, via FedEx Express Priority delivery. I had mentioned to Duana that the books were all for different people, so she also sent me another carton containing nine individual boxes, so that each person could have his/her book in its own box!
I know that in my own work, when people come to me with a request 15 minutes before I'm supposed to leave for the weekend, I'm sometimes tempted to let it slide. I'm glad Duana is a better service person than I am!
Her willingness to assume ownership of my problem and go the extra distance to resolve it promptly means that I'll be able to get everyone their books when I promised, and I really, really appreciate that.
The priority shipping was more expensive than what I had paid for, too, so I'm impressed that Apple gives its support people the latitude to spend a bit more money in order to satisfy a customer.

Wow, what a great experience! It's what we all expect of Customer Service and rarely get, so it is nice to know that Apple can do it.
