Swap failed to activate

Why when I add these two lines in fstab for the VirtualBox USB
work I get an error when mount swap on startup.
these are the two lines :
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs
auto,busgid=108,busmode=0775,devgid=108,devmode=0664 0 0

Why are they on two lines?

Swap does not activate in fstab, but activates manually...

As you can see in this screenshot of a virtual machine screen, during the boot systemd fails to activate swap blaming a timeout.
Yet the device is working, otherwise the rest of the system would not boot, and in fact I can use it from the command line.
In fstab I have this line:
/dev/mapper/encb1 none swap defaults 0 0
I tried to look for that .device file, but as far I can say it is not in the disk.
What can I try? Any insight? Thanks

I read around, but still I have the problem. The GUID problem does not seem to apply as I am using a msdos partition table, or at least this is what partprobe -s states when finding them. And neither are marked as Swap, jsut as Linux.

I entered the following command into terminal and was surprised to receive
$ systemctl --state=failed

i looked to see if swap failed to load but it seems it loaded fine

Swap seems to be loading fine ,but systemctl doesnt think so
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Reading through the wiki article, I commented out swap from the fstab, which solved the issue, but I am a bit confused as to why
It says that there are 2 ways the swap partition is activated,
1. systemd-fstab-generator
- Because this way reads the fstab file to activate swap , this executable spawned the failed process
2. systemd-gpt-auto-generator
- This auto generates the swap based on the partition type (83)
the solutions seem to disable either one way other the other for the activating the swap?
Is the resulting failure in systemd the result of trying to activate swap twice?
how do you set the attribute of the swap partition to 63 ( are they referring to partition type in the solutions)?

Thanks...that was one of the things I first tried. I did a save as another document.
I also resized the image in PS so it would be at 100% of size, figuring that would help and I made the image box's background white instead of none, but nothing so far.

ODS object failing to activate

Hello All,
I will greatly appreciate your help with the following issue:
I have an ODS object that is failing to activate complaining that "Value 'HAGas Cartridge Actu.in safety enclosure ' (hex. '00480041004700610073002000430061007200740072006900') of characteristic 0PROD_DESCR contains invalid characters"
If I am correct - invalid characters were uploaded to an InfoObject (0PROD_DESCR) and now the ODS object does not want to activate (0PROD_DESCR is an InfoObject inside the ODS object). To fix this - does a reload of this characterstic 0PROD_DESCR need to be done without the invalid characters?

Hi Keith,
If you notice the data that is coming for the field 0PROD_DESCR.
One thing is it has data with lower case letters,
secondly from the error message you can notice that '." is also present.
If you analyse all the data in the request either in the PSA or in the active data table of the ODS you will find out what other special characters are used.
If you want to load the data as it is you can add the special chars in RSKC, the text ALL_CAPITAL is not sufficient.
If you do not want to add the special chars then you should edit the data in the PSA and reload the data in to the ODS and then activate the same

Screen Saver on 10.8.3 Fails to Activate

I have started this discussion because my system screen saver is failing to activate again. This problem started when the 10.8.2 update came out. Before then the screen saver worked perfectly. After 10.8.2 it almost never worked. Finally (I thought) after updating to 10.8.3 the screen saver began working again. I downloaded 10.8.3 on March 14 and it worked perfectly until March 23, when I discovered that it failed to activate, leaving the screen unprotected for over 8 hours. Since then, it has been working, but I fear that this problem has not been fixed.
Is anyone else still having this problem?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

What happens if you delete the .plist?
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder "Go To Folder" command. Enter ~/Library. Delete the .plist(s) for the application.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.

You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

Failed to activate coldfusion scheme

Brand new install of CFB 2, I get this error "Failed to activate coldfusion scheme".

I want to like CFBUILDER, but getting ready to switch back to CFEclipse. I get so many errors at startup and throughout. The shortcut "keys" menu item is missing from the preferences window and I have no key board shortcuts. The outline window throws the error "CFMLOutlinePage_0" any time its open. And the editor is painfully slow.
Is there any support for CFBUILDER while your on the trial?

[SOLVED] Xorg: Failed to activate core devices?

Hey guys.
I must've done something terribly wrong, because my Arch Linux won't boot up anymore.
Here's the deal: When my computer is booted up, I type in "startxfce4", and it gives me a few errors such as:
XKB: Couldn't compile keymap
and most important
Fatal server error:
Failed to activate core devices.
So I googled around a little bit, and found something regarding the core devices, and it stated that it was caused by a full disc.
So I did df -h, and yes, I've got a 100% /dev/disk/by-uuid/alot-numbers-and-letters, but I do not recall having made such a partition.
Output from df -h:

Solved this with some help from another Linux community.
The reason was that I had a folder called scratchbox within / which was using ~2gb of space, so I deleted it, and the partition is only 70% full now.
