.swf in ebook browser

Hi there,
I want to stream .swf files from my server into the window of
my ebook. When I test it in my regular browsers, it works fine.
However, when I compile the ebook and try to view the videos from
within the ebook's window, it won't play. I know the ebook software
supports .swf because the company itself suggested I do what I'm
doing.
I have all of the files in one directory on my host's server.
When I compile the e-book, are there certain files that should be
in its root? Here are all of the filenames I have:
test_nofp_bg.gif
test.html
test.swf
test_controller.swf
test_preload.swf
test,js
swfobject.js
test_config.xml
productioninfo.xml

Your Flash player is most likely embedded in or directly
associated with Internet Explorer. Your file is still running in
the Flash player, it is just doing so through Internet Explorer.

Swf previews in browser and doesn't work on server after upgrade from cs3 to cs5

     I have upgraded from CS3 to CS5. My site uses a template created in dreamweaver 8. When I edit a page and embed a .swf file created in flash cs5, it doesn't work on my server, but works on my computer when I 'test in browser'. I have uploaded all the files in the 'scripts' directory. I am streaming video. I have tried using both actionscript 2.0 and 3.0 and streaming .flv and .f4v. None work.
I have a big site and do not wan't to redo my template unless I absolutely have to.

It's not 100% clear from your post, but you should be aware that CS5 plugins should not work in CS5.5. Because of a CS5.5 bug, CS5 plugins will load in InDesign 7.5.0, but that is fixed in 7.5.1 so they will not load.
You should lean a bit harder on Virginia Systems. They should be able to tell you how to get them the stack trace from the crash which they should be able to look at and tell you which plugin (if any) is responsible for the crash. I could do it for Mac OS X but I don't know how under Windows. You could start by looking at the Event Viewer, though. That may have some helpful information about the crashes and the faulting module.

How to cache swf files via browser

I notice that games on facebook ara caching lot's of swf files in browser temparary folder, I'm wondering how this is done, I'm new to web techs :> Somebody help? Thanks a lot.

I met sand box issue when I apply URLRequest api, and I've looked into game's on facebook and other SNS platform, caching is the
common way to build a game, there's a "loader.swf?v=XXXX" there, and if I copy it to file system and run it, surely it's doing URLLoading and trigger a sand box trouble like I do, but when it's applied in the browser, or say in the way it's originally used, it worked,
So I doubt there's something I can do to implement the goal I've imagined, question is, how ) ;
appending a changing query string (?v=XXX) to a url is a common way to prevent browser caching by making the browser think each of those swfs are different by virtue of the changing query string.

External SWF Disappears on Browser resize

I am loading external swf's inside content_2 and when i resize my browser the external content OR content_2 disappears. Can someone help me as to what I need to do to stop this. I've tried adding an onresize function but that does not work. Here my as3 code:

Can't Center SWF image in Browser

I've designed a website in flash and have inserted the SWF file into Dreamweaver, I can edit everything else I need, but for some reason - no matter what I do or try, I can't center this SWF image in Dreamweaver so the SWF file will rests in the center of a browser.
I've tried editing the CSS in the Body, but it doesn't change anything, no matter what. The site always sits flush left.

The whole page is in Flash? Do you know what you give up when you do that (hint: lots!)?

Code behaves different when SWF is in browser as opposed to stand alone player, why?

In ActionScript, I have some code that dispatches a
MOUSE_OVER event when a tween is complete. I am using Tweener for
the tween. On my Mac OSX machine, I preview the SWF file in a stand
alone player spawned from my Flash IDE, and the event is dispatched
and the behavior works as expected, but when I preview the SWF file
as embedded in a MacOSX browser, the event is not dispatched. On a
Windows machine, however, the event is dispatched both in a stand
alone player and within the embedded SWF file in a browser. The
problem seems to come particularly from the Mac OSX player.
Has anybody ever experienced this? Is the OSX implementation
of the Flash player different in a stand alone and browser setting?

Is where the code would be placed... because if a user is on
different screen resolutions than what the site is designed at,
they are required to scroll vertically and horizontally to view
page.

Help when viewing swf webpage in browser

When I load a swf it works well and the document size is correct but when viewed from a browser online it displays the whole project even the objects tha are suppose to be out of view off the page. How can I limit the browser to the document page size?

I'm guessing that your probably loading the swf file directly in the browser. In this case the browser runs the swf at whatever dimensions the browsers currently at, hence being able to see items off the Flash stage.
You will need to create yourself a simple HTML page and embed the swf at the resolution you want it to be viewed at.
Something like:

Want to get Captivate 2 .swf into ebook

I am trying to move a course from CD to ebook. All I have are the autorun CD files, including the .swf file; the .cp file cannot be found and the person who created it is longer with the company. The .swf contains screen snaps and voice over, as well as some cursor animation. My problem is that the .swf file starts playing as soon as the student goes to the ebook page that contains the .swf file.
To the best of my knowledge I can't use the player skin that comes with Captivate without the .cp file, so my proposed solution is to import the .swf into Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, add controls and code that has the movie stopped when opened, and save it as a more user-friendly .swf for the ebook. I am a technical writer, not a programmer, and even though I have spent many hours searching the internet and even reading a book or two about Flash programming, I cannot get a working .swf file. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to example code that will do what I need. I found out about rdcmnd functions and the advantage of the MovieClipLoader class over the loadMovie method, but I seem to be unable to put it all together in a working .swf.
I agree with Captiv8r that a decompiler for Captivate .swf files would be good.

FireFox shows swf twice in browser when swfobject is used to display alternate content. Is there a fix for this?

You have both an EMBED and an OBJECT without a classid that is displayed by Firefox in addition the the OBJECT with a classid for IE.
You need to remove one of them.
Either use the EMBED or the object with the conditional code () that hides it from IE.

SWF in IE browser - Urgent Help

I linked a .swf to open on click, but the swf is gettting
opened in Internet Explorer browser. The swf should open in flash
player.

Your Flash player is most likely embedded in or directly
associated with Internet Explorer. Your file is still running in
the Flash player, it is just doing so through Internet Explorer.

Fscommand and swf in web browser not working

Hi,
I am trying to open one flash projector exe file from web browser swf file but it is not working.
When I tried calling the fscommand("exec", "myapplication.bat") and fscommand("exec", "myapplication.exe") from projector exe flash file then it works fine.
I just want to know the supportabilities of fscommand in as3 using Flash Proffessional CS5.

The line that matters: None of the commands are available in web players.
On the web use ExternalInterface to run JavaScript on the page - not sure you'll have much luck with exec though.

No sound when playing swfs in the browser.

Hey there guys,
I've been browsing flash sits from a computer (in a lab) and
there is no audio in any of the swfs that I have played!! On the
other hand I was able to play mp3's and other kinds of media with
no hassle at all.
Now I recon that the problem is actually from the browser (by
the way, this is a Linux Ubuntu with Mozilla fire fox browser and
flash player 7). Astonishingly, there is no problems when playing
the same swfs on other computers in the lab (with the same hardware
and software)!!
I haven't made any of these swfs but I've been working on
flash for quite a while now, and I've never checked the audio of my
swfs on different browsers.. (oops) , so is this a common thing for
firefox borwsers!!
Anybody got any idea about whats going wrong or how can I fix
this... :S

see the sound bar below the video preview, the one that shows the level of sound in green n yellow n red? to the left of that is a button. press that, and problem solved. you click on it when you don't want sound when skimming, just when pressing spacebar, and vice versa.
