SWF - Indesign - Exe

Can we publish a SWF file made with InDesign in a .exe? If yes, how?

You can try to dump it onto the stage in Flash Pro...I already tried and it does not work.
To get an existing ID swf into a new fla you have to load it via ActionScript—you can't put swfs on the timeline.
So in FlashPro if you made a new AIR For Desktop project at the same pixel dimensions as your exported ID swf and then put loading AS code on the first frame of the timeline, you could load the ID swf and publish it as an AIR app.
Here's a typical loader, you would replace "MyInDesignExport.swf" with the relative path to your ID swf, in this case MyInDesignExport.swf would be in the same directory as the new .FLA
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
var swfloader:Loader=new Loader();
swfloader.load(new URLRequest("MyInDesignExport.swf"));
swfloader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, SWFloaded);
function SWFloaded(e:Event):void {
    swfloader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, SWFloaded);
    addChild(swfloader.content)

    After formatting my hard drive and reinstalling InDesign CS3, I am not able to open the program.
    When I click the shortcut to start the program, it starts to load for about 10-15 seconds, then freezes and gives me this error message:

    I tried reinstalling over the first installation. Then I downloaded the latest updates (Ver. 5.0.4)
    Then I rebooted the computer. Same problem. Rebooted two more times. Same problem.
    Uninstalled the program. Reinstalled. Rebooted. Same error msg. Installed update to Ver 5.9.4, same error msg.

  • An error occur indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    I am having trouble with adobe indesign CS5. Each time I opened my document an error occur indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. It got send report and don't send report to Microsoft. I have already used google web as a help and nothing came up. I have already tried to uninstall and re-install it but still same issue occured. Other Adobe products such as Adobe Dreanweaver CS5 and Adobe Flash CS5 work fine.I would greatly appreciated if you can walk me through. Thanks.

    Windows error reports are too vague to help us much. Did you get an error number?
    Is this happening now every time you start ID? That would likely mean the recovery data is damaged. You can find the InDesign Recovery folder in your user profile. This folder is probably hidden, so you'll need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden and system files, then look in the same directory as the location of InDesign Defaults, which you can find for your version of Windows in the information in this link: Replace Your Preferences
    Once you find the InDesign Recovery folder, either rename or empty it, then ID should start normally. If you file crashes again when you try to open it from the file menu please tell us as much information as you can.

  • In some pc ActionScript not working even after running the .SWF or .EXE, what may be the problem ?

    In my flash project i am using ActionScript to get FULLScreen and mouse hide action. I hv already used the AS3 in Adobe Flash CC and AS2 in Adobe Flash CS6.  All my files are working well, both .SWF and .EXE (projector..) . But the client is saying in his pc the Full SCREEN and Mouse hide is not working. I instructed to update the flash player plugins, still they are getting the same issue. What is the matter pls any one guide us. My code is in the first frame of Flash file which is mention below.
    /*AS2 code*/
    fscommand("fullscreen","true");
    Mouse.hide();
    /*AS3 code*/
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;
    Mouse.hide();

    Hi all, few days ago the client told , one of the project file (.SWF and .EXE) showing full screen. Again day before yesterday the client again said, all the project files working Full Screen and Mouse hide action. Still i do know such happens ? if any technical issue is behind its problem than anyone pls inform me. However it is running well in their PC now.

  • CS5 Indesign.exe experienced an error and needs to close. When opening File

    This is what it shows for error:
    AppName: indesign.exe AppVer: 7.0.3.535 ModName: paragraph composer
    It opens the document for about 10 seconds and then I get the error... I tried clearing preferences, no addins, no new fonts added. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

    It sounds like a font or corrupt style, or possibly a corrupt link. If you send me a link to the file in a private message, I'll attempt to open it here. If successful I'll send you a .idml file and you can try that.

  • InDesign.exe CS5 crashes on exit

    I have a marketing user here who has an annoying, but not a showstopping error every time she closes InDesign.
    InDesign CS5 works fine, but when she is done and closes out, it causes this message:
    DDE Server Window: InDesign.exe - Application Error
    The instruction at "0x00918013" referenced memory at "0x0aa06f18".  The memory could not be "read".
    Click OK to terminate the program.
    {ok}
    It's not really a huge deal, because she's closing the program anyway, but it's annoying and is not very professional to say the least.
    The computer has gone through the Dell diagnostics "Memory Test" where it writes patterns of data to the RAM and reads it back.  It passes all of these tests, so I'm not sure why InDesign.exe is having trouble reading the memory, or why it would even care about reading what's in RAM when it is closing anyway.

    I am having the exact same problem with the error message on exit of InDesign CS5.
    I tried to rebuilt the files with Alt+Shift+Ctrl and then exit the program afterwards. The first time it worked without a flaw. Then the second and third time the problem appeared again.
    On top of that InDesign crashed in Win XP and the possibility for an error report was given.
    I asked one of my colleagues that has the exact same setup (OS) and CS5 suite and she doesn't have this problem ever. However I read that somebody in this thread assumed it could have something to do with installed fonts. I did install fonts in the windows fonts folder as well as locally in the Adobe font folder a month or two ago but this problem seemed to have appeared some time after this when it happened for the first time (not 100% sure though when exactly that was).
    Also I have noticed something interesting.
    The error message only appears when InDesign is closed WITH a document open and not when there is no document open while closing InDesign down. Thought this could be of interest... :-)
    If someone can shed light on a solution I'd be most grateful.

  • CS3 InDesign.exe Crashes after 5min, error signature

    I've installed CS3 as a trial and when working in InDesign it will crash after about 5 min and shows this error message.
    Error signature
         EventType : BEX     P1 : InDesign.exe     P2 : 6.0.0.352     P3 : 48bf8dab
         P4 : MPS.dll     P5 : 4.9.16.1709     P6 : 489bbcf4     P7 : 002c67bf
         P8 : c0000409     P9 : 00000000
    Wat is happening?!

    We'll need a lot more detail to answer the question.
    What is the OS and version? What are you doing when the application crashes? Have you tried updating to the latest patch? Your topic says CS3, but version 6 is CS4, and 6.0.4 was just released.

  • Using buttons as a menu to open .swfs or .exes

    This should be easy, but I can't figure it out...
    I have a single slide Captivate .swf populated with buttons to launch other Captivate .swf or .exe lessons. When a button is clicked, the menu .swf or .exe should close, and the new lesson .swf or .exe opens. All of the lesson .swfs or .exes will also have a button to return to the menu .swf.
    Everything needs to be full-screen .swfs or .exes, and NOT in a browser. No matter what I do, linked .exes or .swfs open in a browser!
    I have made some progress. I can get the menu .swf or .exe to launch a lesson, but the menu file remains open, and it opens the lesson in a browser.
    I basically want it to function as if the menu file was the first slide of a loooooong file, with the menu buttons skipping to the appropriate slide sections, and the ability to return to the menu slide at any point. I just want to do it with separate files.
    Bad explanation, I know... but any help appreciated!

    I doubt that you will be able to open / close your EXE files as you have envisioned.
    I think that the EXE output option from Captivate is designed to deliver single file content. Nothing fancy with menus, opening and closing other projects etc.
    Another user brought up a similar issue here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/493200 and there is still no solution to it.
    Now I don't really know PowerPoint that well, but if it's so easy to do in PowerPoint why don't you just use that instead then? As far as I know you can import SWFs into Powerpoint so just create your "menu" and "chapters" in Powerpoint and import the Captivate files into those. Then you can save your PowerPoint files as EXE and that should sort out your problem.

  • Converting swf to exe

    Hi
    I have an application developed in flash with XML database .
    I couldn't that the user had access my tables in the
    instalation. The tables must be inside exe and without files
    temporary during execution time. I need a program to convert swf to
    exe.
    Can you please indicate me as to make this?

    You can use FlashJester Jugglor to add ' Additional Files'
    inside the EXE.
    Download a FREE evaluation copy from

    and try it.
    Go to the Additional Files section and when you press the
    build button it
    will create one exe.

  • Cp 5.5 - after i publish my cp5.5 project, the swf (or exe) won't play, just sits there

    Hi all, i've been struggling with this for 2 hours and can't figure it out, hopefully it's something basic I'm doing wrong. I have a project that works fine in Preview mode in captivate (5.5). After i publish, though, to either Flash or exe, and try to view the swf (or exe), it doesn't play. it just sits on the first slide, the audio that should begin doesn't begin and the slide doesn't progress. No way to get the file to start playing. I was working on other projects all morning, that all published fine, the only difference between this file and the earlier ones is tht this one has different scoring settings and a slightly different skin (fewer nav buttons).  Windows XP. And as i said, i have never seen this before and have published alot of projects successfully of late. Any suggestions? i thought maybe the file name had gotten to long, with my directory structure, but moving it up a level didn't seem to help.
    Thank you for any help you can provide.

  • Multiple event log errors with Indesign.exe

    A colleague is having some issues with CS3 and certain programs keep crashing and she has to keep restarting. I've not been given any further info at this stage so  I decided to delve into her event logs. Doing so uncovered a number of different InDesign errors, not of which seem to turn up especially relevent or helpful information when researched using Google.
    Faulting application InDesign.exe, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bf8dab, faulting module GRAPHICS.RPLN, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bf96f6, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0003d27f, process id 0x1468, application start time 0x01cb064fddc3e01a.
    which has occured 7 times within the last hour or so. And
    Faulting application InDesign.exe, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bf8dab, faulting module TEXT EDITOR.RPLN, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bfaeb3, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0001c187, process id 0x968, application start time 0x01cb063042d7b346.
    Dreamweaver, so different, but earlier in the week:
    Faulting application Dreamweaver.exe, version 10.0.0.4117, time stamp 0x48c874b4, faulting module MSVCR80.dll, version 8.0.50727.3053, time stamp 0x4889d619, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00015500, process id 0xae8, application start time 0x01cb0328d57ca5c2.
    Last week:
    Faulting application InDesign.exe, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bf8dab, faulting module Public.dll, version 6.0.0.352, time stamp 0x48bf8c2d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002fd16, process id 0x1564, application start time 0x01cb0164aa056a40.
    Not sure if these are connected to her Creative Suite applications crashing, but they certainly don't look overly encouraging. She's running CS4 Design Standard, on a Dell XPS 420 with 3GB RAM and 32bit Vista Business OS.
    Any help appreciated as she's had to restart 3 or 4 times today, loosing work each time.
    Thanks!

    Peter, that's a good point, I'll get her to run an update. In the past we have been sceptical of updates since this seemed to cause more problems when the software was running fine, but I guess we have little choice here. Fingers crossed!
    @VectorIsBetter09 that's an interesting point. We do have somebody running Windows 7 64bit with the same applications installed (fresh install of CS4 rather than an upgrade to it from CS3) and I believe that's not had any issues. However, it does seem odd that the PC has been running with this software for well over a year/18 months with very few problems.

  • Large document - An unhandled win32 exception occurred in InDesign.exe

    I am working on a medical directory that contains information about doctors e.g. address, specialty, interests etc. Data is being pulled out of SQL Server in XML format.
    I have designed a template in InDesign which holds the style information and then those styles are mapped to XML tags.
    The number of doctors that are pulled out of SQL Server in XML format are around 243000. The resulting number of pages for these entries could be around 5000. XML file size is 62.4MB.
    Whenever I try to import this XML file I get the following exception that says:
    There are few steps involved during XML import process:
    1) Processing elements for import
    "successful"
    2) Handling Content
    Following exception occurs at this step
    An unhandled win32 exception occurred in InDesign.exe [4815]
    Possible Debuggers
    "a list of possible debuggers"
    Do you want to debug using the selected debugger?
    "Yes" or "No"
    3) Handling Post Import
    "never reached"
    4) Autoflowing text
    "never reached"
    The above problem never occurs if I am dealing with number of records that result in less than 1000 number of pages.
    Any suggestion about the cause of this exception?
    or any suitable alternative in this case?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks very much Spier for your quick response.
    "I've never worked with XML import, but my suspicion is that this isn't so much a limitation of ID as of your system resources. That's a LOT of pages to have to keep in memory, and working in chunks is probably a more viable solution"
    I agree with you in this case and I broke down the section in smaller chunks as follows:
    A separate XML for:
    Doctors with surname starts with A
    Doctors with surname starts with B
    Doctors with surname starts with C
    Doctors with surname starts with Z
    Now there are two scenarios
    1. Import all XMLs in one ID template one by one
    Import XML and append each time to existing contents.
    Continue this process until all XML files have been successfully imported to ID and then save the file as ID document.
    This all appears to  be fairly simple and straightforward but the story ends (ID crashes) when the resulting number of pages exceeds 1000.
    2. Create a separate document for each XML chunk and combine at later stage
    Import XML for, let say, Doctors with surname starts with A.
    Save as ID document.
    continue this process until ID documents have been created for each chunk.
    There is a possibility of fewer number of doctors on the last page of each IDD leaving the, let say, half of the page empty.
    This is not acceptable.
    Doctors with surname starts with B must start right after the last doctor with surname starting with A not on the new page.
    This is where I am struggling with dividing the data in small chunks.
    If we can overcome this situation then I am sure that small chunks are the way to go but so far I am struggling with both of the scenarios mentioned above.
    "particularly if export to PDF is filing on larger docs, too. You can assemble multiple PDFs into a single file in Acrobat in a matter of seconds."
    This is a very good point and will be helpful during the process but I will be more concern about importing XML at this point of time.
    Hope you understand both of the scenarios explained above.
    Thanks very much again for your quick response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Application error - Indesign.exe

    Hi,
    I am work with CS3 Design Premium Suite. I am getting desperate. I can start every program in CS3 Suite without problems but when it comes to Indesign, this error message will come up:
    DDE Server Windows: Indesign.exe - Application error
    The instruction at "0x0ab32a27" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be read.
    With I click I have to terminate. I have removed and reinstalled the entire Suite. I did not solve the issue. The Suite was activated in May and Indesign worked perfectly until 4 hours ago... now the program became unusable! Do I have to reformat my hard disk?
    Win XP prof, SP2, 2 GB RAM, Dual Core 2.3
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Matt

    Finally I have found an error report - any clue?
