Switching project from svn (AnkhSVN) to TFS

New to TFS and just loaded/installed TFS 2013
I have Visual Studio 2012.
My project(s) are all currently in SVN.  I have Copied the source code to a new folder (leaving original alone).
I then open the project in VS 2012,  I then go to Tools, Options, Source Control and switch to Visual Studio Team Foundation Server.  A message comes up :
<
Microsoft Visual Studio

The active solution or project is controlled by a different source control plug-in than the one you have selected. If you change the source control plug-in, the active solution or project will be closed.

Hi BJ_Crystal,
For your situation, you might need to unbind your solution from source control of SVN and then add to source control of TFVC(Team Foundation Version Control). You can follow the steps below to add the unbinded solution to TFS source control:
1. Connect to a team project in TFS via Team Explorer
2. Click source explorer to open source explorer window, then do a workspace mapping to map the team project to a local path
3.  Right click the team project name in source control explorer and select add items to folder, and then select the solution
4. Check in the pending changes
You can also use the tool of svn2tfs(https://svn2tfs.codeplex.com/). I haven't tried with the tool, but you can use it for the migration.
Another approach is SVN-Git-TFS, and you can check the details from this
blog.
Best regards,

  • Build OSB Project from SVN

    Hi,
I have my OSB workspace project checked-in in SVN. I want to build the same project after checked out from SVN.
Please help me how to do this.

In OEPE, try create an OSB Configuration project first.
Then do Import/SVN/Checkout project from SVN to pull your project into the workspace.
Drag the project into you OSB Configuration project and you can then build it.

  • Move a project from TFS 2008 to TFS 2013

Hi, we are using 2 TFS servers in our company. TFS2008 and TFS2013 SP4. Now I need to migrate  one project (of 6) from TFS 2008 to TFS2013 with all the history and documents from SharePoint services. The TFS2008 is runnig on Windows Server 2008
x86 and SQL 2005 and WSS. TFS2013 is running on Windows Server 2012 R2 nad SQL2012 and SharePoint Server 2010.
I have found some discussions with this topic, most of them with backuping and restoring databases. But it was from TFS 2008 to TFS 2013 using TFSconfig.exe import. But this tool is not available in TFS 2013. Is it possible to do such task without installing
    single use TFS2010?
    Thanks, regards Martin

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks for your post.
You want only move team project source files and documents from TFS 2008 to TFS 2013 or you want move the whole team project data(source files and work items…) from TFS 2008 to TFS 2013?
If you want move whole team project data within history from TFS 2008 to TFS 2013, we suggest backup your TFS 2008, and install a new TFS 2010(or 2012) Server using the TFS 2008 backup, then
move the collection from TFS 2010 to TFS 2013 Server directly, after moved successfully, you can delete the unwanted team projects from moved collection in TFS 2013.
If you want only move the source files and document from TFS 2008 team project to TFS 2013 Server, you can create a new team project in TFS 2013 Server, then try use the
TFS Integration Tools to move source files from TFS 2008 team project to this new created TFS 2013 team project, but you need note the limitations in this tool.

  • How to hide different Viual Studio Projects from each other in one TFS Team Project with areas?

    Hi,
at the moment I try to set up a "good" architecture for projects in TFS for our company.
As often mentioned in TFS documentation we try to reduce the number of Team projects in our company which is organized in different business units (BUs).
One great Team project shall contain a number of different Visual Studio projects, each one belonging to a separate BU.
    The grouping is as follows:
    Global Team project
           Business Unit A
                         Visual Studio Project A1
                         Visual Studio Project A2
           Business Unit B
                         Visual Studio Project B1
                         Visual Studio Project B2
The programmers in business unit A must not see the Visual Studio projects of Business Unit B, but both groups (A an B) use the same process model (that is the reason why we try to group them in on team project).
I try to put all the projects from both BUs in one TFS team project and separate them logically by an Area hierarchy like mentioned above.
But areas only separate work items from each other, not Visual Studio projects.
In Source Control Explorer I can only assign security issues on team project level (Global Team Project), not on business unit level.
So every developer in BU A can see the Visual Studio projects in BU B...
How can I model these dependencies?
    Regards and thanks
    Lothar

    Hi Lothar,
    Thanks for your post.
What’s the version of your TFS and VS?
In Source Control Explorer, you can right-click on Business Unit A folder and select
Advanced>>Security… to deny other group(s)’ access permissions on this folder. Then use the same way to set permissions on Business Unit B folder too.

  • Creating a new RH9 HTML project from legacy project

    Hello,
I am contemplating creating a new project from scratch from the monster that my current RH9 HTML project has become. I would appreciate advice on whether this is the best approach and if so, how to proceed. Here is background:
I have an RH9 HTML project with 3500+ topics. This project was created with the first version of RoboHelp, back in the Blue Sky software days, about 15 years ago. Each time the RH software was sold to a new company, we ran into major issues with conversions and upgrades. The project kept growing and several times we ran into problems that had to be escalated to the top levels of support with the current owner of the software. Many times the best we could do is create workarounds. The number of files created over the years for this project has become enormous and I'm sure there are many which could be safely deleted but I'm not sure how to find out which ones without lots of trial and painful error.
The most recent issue that came up was the sudden disappearance of all links between map IDs and topic titles for my context-sensitive topics. I posted here but eventually went to Adobe Support. After long and involved conversation and testing, we determined that one of the topics was corrupted and I was advised to start deleting topics and adding them back until the bad one was discovered. It was a very time-consuming process, and is an example of the other problems encountered, usually one major meltdown like this per year, give or take.
The project was first created in MS Word 97, with lots of fancy formatting and frills. Eventually I was convinced by members of this forum to switch to RH HTML, so most of that formatting went away, but sometimes not in a nice way.
So bottom line, I have way too many files, lots of them are messy, and I want to make a nice, clean project and have an easier life.
What do you experts have to say?
    Thank you.
    Carma

    Good luck?
The problem with something like this is that it sounds like the topics have built up some horrible code along the way.
Would you like me to take a prima facie look?

  • I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

    Coastal,
Frank gave you the exact answer to your question.
However, I would like to ask if you are indeed asking the right question.  Do you really want different libraries?  The implications are that you have to "switch" libraries to see what's in the others, and so that your searches don't work across all of your pictures?  If so, then you asked the right question.  If not, you may be more interested in relocating your masters to multiple hard drives so your library gets smaller, instead of breaking up the library.

  • What update site flexPMD plugin for FlashBuilder 4.6 ? and login/password to get it from SVN ?

What update site flexPMD plugin for FlashBuilder 4.6 ? and login/password to get it from SVN ?

Just thought I'd answer here to tell you what's going on around FlexPMD.
FlexPMD has been donated to the Apache Flex project and has been sitting there since then. In invested quite some time to find out if we would release FlexPMD soon. Even if if does work when using the Ant target the Maven part is completely out of date and I didn't manage to get things working in reasonably up-to-date Maven versions. It seems that FlexPMD had been a fork of the original PND which hasn't been updated for a really long time. Instead of fixing and updating FlexPMD to work on Maven again, I contributed a patch to PMD that helped modularize PMD 5.2. This has been released recently and even the maven-pmd-plugin for that version have now been releases. So this version allows to create a Flex language module for the official PMD system. Hopefully with this we'll get a well maintained PMD core to work on top of.
Unfortunately I had to finish some other things first, but I do have this on my radar next. So please subscribe to the flex user list and you'll be kept up to date on any progress.

  • Kvirc from SVN {NON-Standard-Install-Method} and Overcoming 2 Problems

    Hello, everyone.  Firefishe here.
There are certain programs I like to compile from source code, outside of the normal arch hierarchy of PKGBUILD's.  One such program is the Internet Relay Chat client, "KVIRC".
I've been using kvirc for years, and I like to keep it as up-to-date as possible, just like Arch!
This is why I like to use the svn version, so I can update it quickly and uniformly.  I like--as a user--to contribute back to the project.  (I had one of my bug reports translated into an instant commit by the main project author, himself, once.  That made me feel quite good, so it really does help to do a few things like this now and again.
Okay, on to the main topic.
I'm writing this to alleviate a nagging problem that had been plaguing me for months in 2013.  Qt5 just wasn't compiling kvirc very well back then.  The fact is, the echoing strains of "qt5 is broken in kvirc" from the #kvirc channel on Freenode, resounded soundly throughout that entire year.  Qt5 was still a bit buggy, and not all the libraries (32bit or 64bit) were quite finished.
Move forward to (now) July, 2014!  I have now compiled kvirc successfully on my 64bit (with 32bit multilib installation) laptop, and kvirc is purring away with a current svn build of kvirc.
However, I ran into some issues, which I would like to share with you, below:
I usually go about compiling kvirc from svn like this: (I usually start from my /home/userNameHere directory.)
    {arch@homedir}$ svn co https://svn.kvirc.de/svn/trunk/kvirc
    {arch@homedir}$ cd kvirc
    {arch@homedir}$ mkdir release
    {arch@homedir}$ cd release
    {arch@homedir}$ ccmake ..
[At this point, the 'ccmake ..' command invokes cmake-gui, an ncurses-like graphical user interface, with a list of menu items pertaining to various libraries and flags that can be set.  cmake-gui makes selecting these flags and libraries quite easy, and also gives a clear indication of what directories may not have been found (which will be discussed a bit later.) ]
Press the 'C' Letter Key -- (This runs the Configure Routine.  I sometimes do this twice, just to be sure it configured properly. I've had it miss a few times for unknown reasons.)
Press the 'G' Letter Key -- This 'Generates' Cmake files.
After the 'G' command, the system takes you back to the command prompt.
{arch@homedir}$ make ***WAIT A WHILE, COULD TAKE A BIT LONGER ON SLOWER SYSTEMS!***
{arch@homedir}$ sudo make install  (Or 'su -' to root, then do 'make install'; your preference.  I prefer using sudo.)
{arch@homedir}$ sudo ldconfig  (Or 'ldconfig' if still at root prompt #)
{arch@homedir}$ kvirc (or 'kvirc &' if you don't want the terminal window to hold onto the process.)
Kvirc should run at this point, but I ran into a couple of problems.  Once during the ccmake configuration (which prevented ccmake from configuring), and at the end, which prevented kvirc from running.)
The first had to do with two (2) packages that were not installed.  The were, as follows:
    qt5-webkit
    qt5-multimedia
I installed those files, then did the  'ccmake ..' portion.   That ran fine, as well as the 'make' and 'sudo make install' and 'sudo ldconfig' parts.
What didn't work was when I tried to run kvirc.  I got the following error:
    {arch@homedirc}$ kvirc
kvirc: error while loading shared libraries: libkvilib.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I remember, back when kvirc was wanting Qt4, and not Qt5, that if I didn't do the first 'sudo ldconfig' command before trying to run kvirc, it would give something similar.  However, since this compile run was wanting Qt5, and not qt4, I was puzzled.
Well, it turned out to be something quite simple.  This is a non-standard process of software installation on a new(er) arch system.  The 'uname -r' command on my system yields the following:  3.15.4-1-ARCH .  It is no surprise, then, that at this late date, Qt5 is complete (or at least more complete) than back in 2013 when I had the original problems, and had to select the 'WANTS-QT4' section during the 'ccmake ..' command.
**** Building kvirc this way places the kvirc binary in /usr/local/bin, and a certain 'libkvilib.so.4' library in /usr/local/lib ****.
This is to be expected from a standard source compile on most gnu/linux systems; and this *is* a standard compile, even though we're using the 'ccmake ..' command to do the preliminary configuration and cmakefile generation.)
The problem is, is that Arch is looking for libkvilib.so.4 in /usr/lib, and not /usr/local/lib.  So the following was, for me, the solution that got everything squared away:
I made a symlink in /usr/lib to /usr/local/lib/libkvilib.so.4, like this:
    {arch@homedir}$ cd /usr/lib
    {arch@homedir}$ sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/libkvilib.so.4 libkvilib.so.4
    After doing this, I did:
    {arch@homedir}$ kvirc (or kvirc &)
    And It Ran Beautifully! :-)
I hope you've enjoyed this HOWTO.  I know most people may just want to use the 4.2.x version of kvirc, currently residing safely in the standard repositories.  However, if you're like me, and want a bit of bleeding edge, Qt5 goodness with kvirc, I might suggest doing the above!
I can be reached at firefishe At gmail DOT com if anyone has any questions.

    Hi Dareen,
Looking at the information shared and also the error message ( Update Failed,Updates could not be applied. Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator. If the problems persist, contact customer support for further assistance" ),
It suggests that the updates were to be managed by the Admin only. Lets try the following step and suggest if this was able to resolve the concern that you have or not.
    1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0 and you will find a .dat file ( AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat).
    2) Please open the file in question and you will find a line item : <Suppressed>1</Suppressed> .
    3) Please change the Value from 1 to 0 and save the file back in the same location.
post the above step, try the installation once again and share the end result please.

  • Migration from HP ALM to TFS 2013

    Hi All,
Right now we are using HP ALM (Version: 11.0 version) for test case management in our project. Our management want to move from HP ALM to TFS . Could you please guide me how to do this migration activity using "HP ALM Synchronizer".
Please share the steps to follow.
    Appreciate your kind support.
    Regards
    Bhaskar

    Hi Bhaskar,
HP ALM Synchronizer use open source conponents, and you can use it for the migration. If you want to use other tools, you can choose Opshub integration manaer, TFS integration platform etc.
With OpsHub integration manager, you can do bi-dirctional synchronization between HP ALM and TFS. Check this
    page for more information.
For the migrtion from HP ALM to TFS, you can check the blog
Quality Centre to Team Foundation Server in one complex step. It introduces the tools that you can use and feature comparision.
