Sychronisation of DAQ on multiple cards

I am operating with Labview 5.1.1 and Flexmotion on Windows 98 and I am an intermediate user. Using PCI-6023E and PCI-7344 motion controller card, connected by an RTSI cable. Want a process whereby after running a subvi, DAQ begins at the same time on both cards (if the output of the subvi is true). After a set time interval after DAQ begins, I want to send a signal to start motion. The start of motion routine has already been written so I just want to know how to send a signal to initialize it so that it is all synchronised. What is the best way to achieve this and which example/code in the support section is most relevant to my situation?

Could someoneone please upload these examples as Labview 5.1.1 files for me?

File Renaming from Multiple Cards

I’m attempting to use prelude to transfer and rename files from multiple cards to the same folder using the custom text and auto increment options. When I try transfer the media from card 2 to the same folder as card 1 using the same renaming protocol the auto increment starts back at 001 instead of picking up where the numbering left off from the last card. Therefore creating duplicate file names. Does the media from all my cards have to be transferred from the same location and ingested at the same time before I can make this work? All the tutorials have all the media coming from only one card in a “DSLR” workflow. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your post. In the current version of Prelude it does not provide the "next in sequence" number as an option. We are implementing that feature now for an upcoming release. The new feature should provide you with the following capabilities:
1. Prelude will provide a new option in the RENAME settings area: "USER DEFINED AUTO INCREMENT". An EDIT field will be available when you select this option and Prelude will automatically populate it with the "NEXT" sequential value based on the last ingest operation performed.
2. You can also override the auto-populated value if you choose and set any starting value you wish.
Hope this will meet your workflow needs. If you'd like to see something else please let us know.

Ingesting Multiple Cards Simultaneously In Prelude

I've got a 4-card CF card reader to help with downloading footage in the field from a C300 and a 1DC. Is it possible to ingest multiple cards simultaneously within Prelude? And, if not, is there any downside to just copying the files over in Finder just to speed things up a bit. Mostly concerned about what happens if I'm in BFE, doing my own DIT and I spent the day shooting at 4K.

Yes, Prelude will support multiple ingests simultaneously. You do need to invoke the Ingest Dialog for each operation though (for each card transfer you need to kick off - we don't yet have a shortcut for this workflow built in but are looking into it).

Importing from multiple Card readers at the same time...

In Photo Mecahnics I can import multiple cards at one time. Is this possible with LR? If yes, then I will switch 100% to LR.

Your System my get bogged down?? but you probably can start multiple downloads consecutively. I know you can do consecutive Exports with different presests. Haven't actually heard of anyone doing what you ask.
I asume you are talking either more than one camera or multiple readers.
I also don't know how this would effect metadata, if at all.
Give it a try on a Test Catologue and report back hear. I am sure others might like to know if you are successful.

Does iPhoto allow you to order multiple card projects that you designed with your photos all at once?

I have create multiple cards with iphoto and I want to order them all at once, but it seems to me that I can only order one card of the same design at once. If I order them all separately, that means I have to pay for shipping for each card I created. I don't want to pay so much for the shipping, I think if I order them all at once, the shipping fee will be cheaper. And I will just recieve one big package instead of several small packages. Has anyone able to order all their iphoto projects in one single order?

Edit multiple cards at once in addressbook

I have many contacts in my addressbook. Now, I want to add a label called 'category' in my addressbook. The category should e.g. be used for work-related cards. I have now three questions:
1) How can I add a label to my addressbook which can be used for all my cards? Currently, when adding a label, I only get it to work for one single card.
2) How can I make a smart list with this new label 'category'? I currently see only standard labels, when using a smart list.
3) Upon adding this label to the addressbook, how can I make sure that multiple cards containing the label 'category' can be filled with 'work' at once? I am only succeeding to fill in the label 'category' once per card.

You can add a custom label to a particular category, like Phone, Address, etc. But, you cannot add a new category. Pretty much the categories are defined by the vCard standard, with additions added by Apple for various things.
I haven't done it in a while, but I believe if you add a custom category to the Template, it will be available for all new cards.
Smart groups only work with the categories as defined, not the labels within categories.
You can use applescript to make bulk changes, but it is not simple if you are not familiar.

I have a tungsten e2 that will not recognize the sd card. I have tried multiple cards and none work

Use daq across multiple Labview applications

Is it possible to have daq handoff data to multiple Labview applications running at the same time? Each application is specific to a certain test setup, but each test setup has its channels run into a couple of scxi cards in one computer/daq card. One application may access channels 0,1,9,10 on scxi module 1 and channels 1,2,3 on scxi module 2; another application accesses channels 2-7 on scxi module 1 and channels 4,5,6 on scxi module 2; etc. (get the picture?). I want to turn each of these little applications into executables. Is it possible to have multiple sessions of daq running at the same time for the same card? Is this the idea behid tasks with daqmx? If not, can I create a small daq application that runs independently of my actual test apps, and somehow have one executable talk to another executable?

True enough, but I think it could work if you program it correctly. I am mainly thinking, have the daq application configure the channels no matter which application wants them. Have it also set the scan rate and other details based on the most critical channel. Have the daq application continously reading channels into a 2-d array, and buffer the data into a shift register. Then when one of the other applications wants data, it dumps whichever channels that app is asking for. None of the actual test application would ever request 'daq', but they would request data that has been stored from daq. I guess one thing I want to know is can I request data (such as a 2D array of dbls) across totally seperate executables?
It almost sounds like the perfect job for the new 'shared' variable type in Labview 8, but I am not familiar enough with its ins-&-outs.

Measure with multiple cards

i've got 3 cards in a project. this cards are measuring temperature, digital IO and Analog IO.
the problem is that i can't receive the values in one while loop. the temperature needs much more time to measure as the other cards.
two questions:
1. i've got a queue where i do my initialisation.the daq is parallel to this queue. is it possible to use any tool which waits till the initialisation
is done to start the daq?
2. has anyone a schema which describes a multi card daq? i don't think that my solution is the best.
short description about my solution:
i've got lots of parallel while- loops where the daq is (first while- loop for temperature, second for DIO,...).
another parallel part is a queue which does the initialisation , an idle-case and deinitialisation.
In the moment i stop the while-loops with a local variable of my stop button. i think there will be a better solution.
it would be nice if anyone has a schema, link or any other documentation.

I normally use some sequence structures to do hardware initialization before the main body of the program.
So I would have a sequence with 3 frames. In the first one initialize the hw, the second one would contain the normal function mode and the third, closing references and hw control, ...
About the structure you use, I find it a little strange, but don't take this as a critic to your programming mode.
You have all those while loops, with a case structure and all of them controlled by the same variable.
So when you press that button, all your while loops will go to measuring mode.
Apparently you are allways measuring everything when messung is true.
So if you had only one while loop it would work the same way, better yet, if messung is a button, you could put everything in the event structure and measure everything when the event messung - mouse down happens and you don't need all those while loops.
Also the stop could be made by that event structure.

Magma-box and DAQ PCI 6034E card

I had installed a magma-box (64-bit 2 Slot Series) on my laptop. And I installed NI-DAQ 7.1. Than I had plug the PCI-6034E card in the magma-box. My laptop identify the PCI-6034E daq card in the Device Manager; but with a yellow exclamation point and give the Error code 10 (Cannot start the device). The same used with the PCI-6377 card.
I have tried with the cards in the differend slots.

I am not sure what a magma-box is. I have searched all over google and I haven't been able to find one. This brings up my next question of how you are installing a PCI-6034E and PCI-6377 on the laptop. National Instruments driver does not support this and I am pretty sure the DMA on the devices wouldn't work as well. The main difference between the PCMCIA devices National Instruments sell and the PCI devices is the DMA channels. If you need to use a laptop I would recommend purchasing the DAQCards or DAQPads that can connect to USB, Firewire, or PCMCIA slots. These devices are supported on laptops. The PCI devices are designed to work on desktop computers with standard PCI busses that allow for DMA channels and ISA based interrupts.

Multiple Cards in one computer

Hello,
I have two NI DAQ cards installed in one computer.
1. PCI-6711 which is used by Nikon EZ-C1 which controls laser intensity in a Nikon Confocol Microscope System.
2. PCMCIA 6036E(via PCMCIA to PCI adapter). I write a MATLAB program to do data acquisition with the card.
My problem is that both programs cannot work together. If there is only one program running, it works fine, but the second program always can't open the DAQ card it uses. My computer has an Asus P4C800-E motherboard. I am not sure if there is hardware conflict, but I checked IRQ numbers, it seems these two cards use different IRQs. Anyone can help me with the problem? Thanks a lot.

I am using NI-DAQ version 7.1. For the software from Nikon, I don't know how they implement to control DAQ card. In my matlab program, I use functions from matlab's data acquision toolbox to open DAQ device. The error was from analoginput('nidaq',2) or analogoutput('nidaq', 2) which is a command to create output/input object. My program uses PCMCIA 6036E.
BTW, in Measurement & Automation Explorer, under traditional Ni-DAQ devices, the test panels for both cards are disabled. I think I should be able to use the test panels, so they shouldn't be disabled. I attached a pic to show this.

Apple Pay - multiple cards on file but...

How does it know which one to charge to? If the process is automated and you don't even have to open the Passbook app - how does it know which card out of my Passbook is going to get used - #1 priority?
I've not tried it yet - maybe there is a card selection prompt?
In store at places like Target/Walmart would be good too, but they aren't in the list yet... and may never be according to some news articles.

When you have multiple credit cards in Passbook they will appear stacked. The bottom most card will be in front. That is the default card. Tapping and dragging the default card up let you move it behind others in the stack. This results in changing the default card. It's easy and fast to select a different card as the default card if you do not want to use the present default card to make a purchase.
