Sync - "disconnected" with Torch 9800 & Windows 8/Office 2013

Upon connecting my BB with my Windows Surface Pro w/Windows 8 and Office 2013, the Desktop Manager states "disconnected." The BB recognizes the connection. I have activated .NET in Windows 8, tried different USB cables, uninstalled and reinstalled BB Desktop Manager three times. Upon reinstalling BB Desktop Manager it will sync once only. I'm confused.

Hello,
Firstly, Office2013 is not yet compatible with any version of the Desktop Software:
KB12268Synchronization support for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
So I am at a bit of a loss how it even works that one time that you state.
Good luck!

  • Sync - "disconnected" error with Torch 9800 & Windows 8

I have a Torch 9800 and Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8. I have installed Desktop Manager three times and it will sync with my BB only once. I have activated .NET 3.5 in Windows, changed USB cables, ensured my BB battery is charged. What should I do to resolve this issue?

    Hi jvanhalst,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
Can you provide more information on this issue please?
What exactly happens when you try to synchronize?
Is this happening when syncing organizer data only, or media files also?
What is the full error message you receive?
Are you able to sucessfully connect with the BlackBerry Desktop Software to backup or use any of the other functions?
I look forward to your response.

  • Outlook Sync Problem with Torch 9800

I have always problems to Sync my 9800 to Outlook, I know this problem is caused because for some reason son calendar entries with Attendees field starting  ""< fails, and I get the message: Error encountered. Error Code 0x80040fb3. Check Documentation,  I normally  delete this Outlook entree and Sync and problem solved, however deleting the entree is not a acceptable solution, when there is several entries with the same problem.
Is there a way to fix this issue?
Some user suggest to delete all calendar entries and make a new Sync, this also works but takes a lot of time, and I wonder if this problem is already solved.
My desktop software is version 6.1.0.35
    Please advice,

Hello...and apologies for the delayed reply!

There are several public KBs that discuss that exact error code...I recommend you search on it here:

  • Move a Excel 2010 Dokument Addin Project (Visual Studio 2012) to another devleopment machine with Visual Studio 2012 , but Office 2013

    Hi
we do have the following situation
on computer A there is a Excel Document Addin development project , Visual Studio 2012, Office 2010 installed. All works fine.
we would like to bring the project to another machine with Visual Studio 2012, but Office 2013 installed.
Visual Studio can not build the project. It says that the application is not installed on the machine (though Excel 2013 is installed , but not Excel 2010) It seems to have a problem with the
    vbproj.
In other forums I found a hint that "Hostpackage = ..} needs to be set accordingly in the vbproj. I created then a "empty Excel-Addin project" under Visual Studio , looked at
the Hostpackage entry, put that into the vbproj of "problem project. It still does not work.
It would be great if anyone could help.
    Thomas

    Hello Eugene
Problem is that it says that projectboard (the name of the main project) can not be loaded. All other projects in the solution can be loaded. Strange thing is , now that I try to create a empty excel Project it says that according to Excel security settings
it can not be generated !?
I opened then Excel and set all Trust Center settings to "Default" - but no effect. I really have no idea what is wrong ..!?

I'm looking at a new torch 9800.  I have to be able to use DM 4.2 because nothing newer will sync with "lotus Organizer 6.0" so I have two questions.
    1. Will I still be able to use DM 4.2 to sync with the torch 9800 from computer #1?
    2. Assuming I am still abe to use DM 4.2, can I also use DM 6 from another computer for other things?

According to this article, KB26181, there is an issue using DTM 5.0.1 and older wiht phones that were released with 6.0 as their initial OS.

  • 2011 MacBook Pro with Parallels 6/Windows 7/Office 2010 Best Bets

I will be purchasing the new 13" 2011 MacBook Pro and plan to install Parallels 6, Windows 7 and Office 2010. My research so far suggests:
    - I should up to 8GB of memory and the 128GB solid state hard drive
    - Windows 7 Home Premium is the correct option to enable use of of Office 2010 Home and Business 2010, and I should install the 32 Bit version of Windows 7
    - Parallels 6 is a feasible alternative to using Boot Camp
Does anyone advise a different or better approach if my ultimate requirement is to be able to run Office 2010 in the Mac environment?
Does anyone recommend an existing online resource which might already address this scenario?
One post here stated that a Quad Core processor is preferable for the Parallels/Window 7/Office 2010 scenario, but the QCs are obviously only available with the 15" and 17". Is the Quad Core recommendation commonly held?
    Thank you.

This sounds like an excellent option and I'd like research it further. Is there a good overview article or other resource you're aware of? Basically, Windows 7 can be installed in the Boot Camp partition, but tapped into from either Parallels (or whatever one's VM may be) to enable Office to be run in the VM or Boot Camp. The advantage being you'll have only used up one install of Windows 7? Not that there'd be any need, but could you install Windows 7 once as above, but Office in both the VM and in Boot Camp, and the two respective installs of office look to the same install of Windows 7?
Right you install Windows 7 and Office in Boot Camp.. then create a VM and tell it to use the Boot camp partition as the hard drive and it will use the installation that is already there. You won't have to install anything again... and you can use it either way... with boot camp or your VM of choice. Here is an explanation from Parallels and a nice article with an older version but still relative.

  • Problem connecting desktop manager with torch 9800

I have a lot of difficulties with my BB Torch 9800, since I forgot my password (for desktop manager).
Can't connect neither BB Protect to save data nor browse with Google search.
Could somebody help me solve this?
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You've got a lot of inter-related and separate issues all mixed up in there. Can you perhaps separate them and provide adequate details of each so that we can perhaps understand and help you?
For example, the Desktop Software password is the exact same one that you use to unlock your BB after you either have caused it to password lock or enough time has passed that it has auto-locked. But that password is totally irrelevant to everything else you've mentioned...and you really need to figure that one out first, as without it, you cannot even use your BB for the other things at all.

    Hi,
Did you get the error message "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources error" in Excel 2013?
Could you give me more detailed information? Which action caused the error message? Such as:
Open or save an Excel workbook
Open an Excel workbook that references a relative name from another workbook
Use a defined name in a formula in an Excel workbook
Define or delete a name in an Excel workbook
    Please go to the folder,

  • Contact Sync Incomplete: BB Torch 9800 and Mac

I installed the BB desktop manager software on my MAC running the latest OS (mountain lion) but when I try to sync the contacts from my Torch 9800, the data went to my SKYPE contact list.
Worse than that, all it shows is a name and phone number.  I need company address, e-mail addresses, etc...  This BB used to use an electronic sync w/my company but I turned off electronic transfer as instructed so I could get the list on my MAC.
Anybody else run into this and found a solution?  Thanks!

    Update:
It appears data also went to my MAC Address book and all data is there.
Any idea how to remove it from my SKYPE section and just leave it in addresses?  Thanks!

  • Syncing iPad with Apple vs. windows

    I want your advice please.
I have the iPad1, and I have never synced it with a computer, other than to let the Apple store upgrade the OS to IOS 5.
Once I sync to an Apple, or to a Windows based computer, am I always stuck to syncing only to that?
Or do I have some flexibility to go back and forth between platforms (which would be my preference)?
How about just syncing with iTunes........must you stick to one computer?  Or can you add and delete tunes within iTunes, from different platforms like a Mac and a Sony laptop running windows?
Thank you for all your advice in advance!

Try authorizing the new computer usinjg iTunes with the new Apple ID.
Launch iTunes. From the menu bar (top of your screen) click Store > Authorize This Computer
    Then try syncing.

Why must I activate my windows 7 microsoft office home and business 2013 every time I start up my computer and access a program (outlook) in office 2013??? I get the message "sorry we ran into a problem while trying to install the product key. If this
keeps happening you should try repairing your office product. (system error: 0xc004d301)".  When I key the option "repair now" it works for a while and either comes back with the same message, or it shut down my program which upon restart

    Hi,
Based on the description, you can't activate Office 2013 on your Windows 7 machine. Since we are not sure about the product key status or the local licensing policy, the best approach is the customer service.
You can find the local customer service number from this link below:

  • Messages are incorrectly positioned inside IM chat window (after Office 2013 SP1 update)

    Hi,
After installing Office 2013 SP1 today (Lync desktop 2013 client version updated to 15.0.4569.1506), messages inside Lync's chat windows are positioned in a wrong way when using DPI of 125% in Winodws 8.1.
Can anyone else confirm this and/or suggest a solution? We cannot unistall SP1 since we're using Click-to-Run version from O365.

Can you try re-sizing the Lync IM window's width as small as possible? I have the issue due to long name, haven't tried playing with DPI.
