Sync-ing gmail through iCloud

I want to sync my mail through iCloud, including my gmail. Is this possible? Ultimate goal is to manage email from both my iphone and macbook and have them sync with each other. That's not happening now.

Only Apple's email accounts work through iCloud. You could always forward gmail mail to the apple account, but there are certain disadvantages, such as using the gmail return address instread of an apple address when replying.
Think of icloud email as an independent provider like gmail and all others. That's why the email client app on a device or a computer can be set up to access emails from multiple sources. When using the email client, you see all your emails together - why the need to route everything through one provider? (Unless you are trying to use email via a browser.)

Can't sync my contacts through iCloud or iTunes from an iPhone 4S to an iPhone 3G

I have an iphone 4S that fell on the floor and broke the front glass. They will take some time to fix it and I need to sync my contacts to an iPhone 3G. The problem is that I can't sync them through iCloud or iTunes. Everything else syncs just fine (calendar included) but not the contacts.
Anyone had the same problem?
Anyone has any solution to this problem?
It's reaaly important because I can't be without my contacts all that time (they will take up to 15 days to replace the glass!!!!, the iPhone works fine, just the glass broken!)

Does the display work? If so, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to email your contacts to your other phone.

TS4147 Syncing contacts only through iCloud with Outlook 2007 and iPhone & iPad I have duplicate contacts only on the iPhone & iPad. If I remove one of the duplicates the other one is also removed. A solution would be appreciated.

There are no duplicates in Outlook, nor in iCloud, but there are duplicates on the iPhone & iPad. If I remove one of the duplicates the other duplicate disappears. Thank you.

Go to contacts on your phone/ipad, click groups, make sure that the only checked contacts are icloud. That shoud do.

Syncing with gmail and iCloud across 3 devices

I cannot get my devices to sync properly (MacBook, iPad mini, iPhone 5c). I use Gmail and iCloud, and it seems to muddy the waters. My contacts, for example, are a mess. As someone who is normally on top of the tech stuff, I feel confused and very frustrated. Is it time to get rid of Gmail? Do I need to wipe my data and start fresh? For some reason there just seem to be too many settings to get everything to work seamlessly. If anyone has faced similar issues please let me know if you have any solutions--whether it is a step by step process, or visit or the Genius Bar...

iCloud doesn't sync email; changing your iCloud settings won't effect your ability to sync email. Just set up the same Gmail account on all your devices. Unless you set it up as a POP account, it will stay in sync across your devices. (Only IMAP and Exchange accounts sync across your devices; POP email doesn't.)

Sync-ing Notes via iCloud to a PC (Windows)

So here's the deal, I have an iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone and work machine running windows 7. I'm currently sync-ing notes and reminders across all of my Apple devices, and would like to have access to them on my work PC (windows) as well.
Is there a way to sync my notes via iCloud with my Windows machine?

Worse still: the new iTunes will has discontinued to sync notes from MS Outlook with standard iTunes sync (wired or wireless)
Try Evernotes, or another 3rd party app.

Notes 2.0 sync on iMac through iCloud

Hi there, does anyone know how to get the Notes 2.0 App to sync through iCloud? The sync option is easily available on my iPhone, but not on my Mac System Preferences/iCloud, where the only option appears to be to sync 'Mail and Notes', not the Notes 2.0 App.

Sync'ing Notes to iCloud

If I sign on to icloud via a browser and write a Note, it will sync up with my iphone, no problem. If I write a Note on my iPhone, I do not see it in my Notes in my icloud. I have everything turned on, so why doesn't it only go in one direction? How do I get the notes I create on my iPad and iPhone to show up in my Notes in icloud?

It may be that a different thing is syncing your notes. Perhaps an email account.
Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars and then click on your first email account.
Check to see if you see any on/off sliders, and if one of those sliders says "notes".
If it does say "notes" make sure it's slid to off. Then go through the rest of your email accounts and do the same thing.

Trying to sync new iPhone through iCloud

I have just got an iPhone6 and I am trying to sync it with iCloud. I have done a recent backup from old phone.
When I try to sync this to the new phone it asks if I want to restore from an iCloud acount and I click this option it then brings up the most recent back ups To select from.... Only problem is they are greyed out as they are asking for the most up-to-date ISO.. So question is how do you get past this stage to upgrade the operating system In settings??
I have ended up clicking to set up a new iPhone as this allowed me to access settings and then I manually typed in my icloud details but only half of my information has synced over and I am missing all of my messages apps notes etc..
has anybody else had this issue and no what to do? Any help would be appreciated thanks a lot

Sync ALL notes through iCloud

I have notes and reminder 'on' in my iCloud setting, but still not all notes that are on my iPad appear on my iPhone.
How do I make this work?

First, log on to https://icloud.com using your Apple ID. Click on Notes. Do you see all of your notes there?
If you do see them online, then on the iPhone go to Settings/iCloud and turn off Notes. Then turn it back on. This should force Notes to resync.

TS4002 syncing gmail with icloud

I just got a new iphone and I cannot sync my gmail with icloud. Very annoying, since that's where all of my contacts are. It keeps saying my passowrd is incorrect, but I re-entered it several times and I know it is correct. The same thing happens on my ipad 2.

I know I can use Photo Stream to access recent photos via iCloud from these multiple devices. My question is: can I create a single iPhoto library stores in iCloud so that all my devices can in fact sync their libraries through iCloud?

How to send a text message reminder of a calendar appointment through iCloud?

We use iCloud calendar for patient bookings in our Physio clinic. I've been told you can set up reminder messages to be sent as a text message (synced with contacts) through iCloud but have not been able to work out how to do this.

You cannot set up reminders for events that will be sent via iMessage or SMS.

No, iCloud does not handle 3rd party mail, and Google can already sync to all your devices without any help.
iCloud accounts are individual, there is no 'Family' account. Open an account for each user, each will have an iCloud address.

Mavericks Mail not sync'ing IMAP act. (Not GMail)

I have been waiting silently to see if a fix would come on its own, but none yet. Ever since upgrading to Mavericks, Mail.app does NOT sync my IMAP accounts correctly. I have gone so far as to remove and re-add the accounts numerous times... no change. The recent "update" that was supposed to address Gmail issues had no affect on my sync'ing issues either. As others have posted, I basically have to quit and re-launch mail for it to correctly show what is on the mail server. All of my iDevices are working just fine - I can read or move an email, and all my iDevices show it correctly... but when I return to my Mac - some show as unread - some messages that I moved or deleted are still THERE (unread), etc.
Once I quit and relaunch, the inbox displays correctly - but there is no way (that I can find) to force the inbox to "refresh" correctly while the app is open. "Getting new" messages does nothing to help. Has anyone found a solution or work-around...? or is this just a "sit back and wait for Apple to fix" kind of problem...?

I have the same problem. The recent Mavericks update fixed the original Gmail problem (of not being able to get rid of mail from the in box), but this problem is there and very frustrating. Exactly the same as the original post - Mail on my Mac does not reflect the emails filed, moved, deleted etc from my iPad or iPhone. Gmail, iPad and iPhone are all in perfect sync, but the Mac is not.
The only way to force the Mac into line is to QUIT Mail and relaunch.
(By the way, I don't have any anti-virus on my machine, so it's nothing to do with that - its a Mavericks issue).
I have been looking at alternative mail clients as I have now lost all faith in Apple Mail. (I am committed to IMAP and Gmail, on 3 different email accounts).
Yersterday I tried Outlook (as I happen to have a copy with Office-2011 for Mac). I liked it apart from the fact that it won't work with iCloud contacts... so its no good for me.
I'm looking at Mailplane now.... doesn't seem to be available via App store, but I'm going to try a free 15 day trial I found online. I'd say that's how long Apple has to fix this problem as far as I'm concerned.
