Sync OVI Suite with Thunderbird 7

OVI Suite doesn't sync with Thunderbird 6 / 7 from long time.
Nokia is sleeping? No news?
I'm very disappointed... this is my last nokia phone.
The next will be and Android smartphone.

I have been using Thunderbird on some computers during many years. It is true now that Thunderbird 7 can´t sync adressbook with Suite.
Anyhow, Nokia has been the only phone manufacturer that has been supporting Thunderbird as long as I can remember.
just to be fair, and further more, it is time to Thunderbird to improve import/export functions for content. It is a dister nowadays and it has been for long. I am only using Thunderbird nowadays as a email client on 2 computers. All emails are on servers, also contacts and calender.
You will not be better off concerning sync issues and backup system in an Android. Just check it up for yourself...

Syncing ovi playlists with N8 device

Is there a way to sync the playlists i have in my ovi suite with my N8? Dragging and dropping only copies them.

The OVI music player is of no use either. It does have an auto-transfer option. But it failed to copy the playlists to my device, leave alone syncing. Finally i had to settle down for drag n drop with OVI suite. But when i change the playlists then the trouble will start. Would have loved a sync option (which i gather, was in the earlier versions of OVI suite). Nokia, plz take notice...

Nokia OVI Suite with proxy

Hi,
How can I connect the Nokia OVI Suite with a proxy server behind? I am not able to download the maps because the Suite cannot connect to the Maps server.

If your PCSuite works fine, even your OVi suite should work fine without proxy entry in the application.
You can try reinstallation of the OViSuite application after uninstalling even the PC Suite.
Follow the below steps to re-install OVi suite and then try connecting the device.
Uninstall PCSuite
Run pc suite cleaner by downloading from http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/pc-suites/how-to/nokia-pc-suite-cleaner
Run the msi cleaner ( installer file msicuu2.tst is attached, rename the file to msicuu2.exe)
With the help of msi cleaner remove the following programs.
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
Nokia Ovi Suite
PC Connectivity Solution
Goto Computer Managerment -> Device Manager -> Ports and delete all the ports creted for Nokia devices.
Goto the following path and delete all the folders inside the 'NokiaInstallerCache' folder
C:\ProgramData\NokiaInstallerCache
Later after restarting the PC, download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
http://www.ovi.com/suite
After installation, restart the PC once again, then connect the device and wait for the drivers to get installed on own.
After the drivers installation, start the OVi Suite application and connect the device from the application screen.

OVI Suite with C7 connecting problem

After starting Ovi Suite and connecting the C7, the suite tells me that it is a C7 connected, then starts "buzzy with installing/setup.." ("bezig met instellen...")(see attachment). This message at the bottom of the sreens stays there forever and nothing is happening. The C7 is connected with USB. But I get the same result with Bluetooth.
Can anyone tell me what to do?

An odd thing about the phone is that I actually did run the s/w update at the end of Jan or start of Feb and it reported as successful. So beats me why it now states 'not updated'. I ran this update soon after I got the phone, after I successfully installed a previous v of Ovi. I had to restore my HDD soon after this, which is why I was trying to install Ovi again this week.
Anyway, any help much appreciated

Problem setting up ovi suite with N86

I've just downloaded the latest v of Ovi suite and installed it on my PC, but when I try to connect my phone (N86) I get a message:
"an error occured while copying file ccdcmb.sys
cannot copy file to destination directory
click retry to retry the operation or click cancel to"
when i click cancel i get a message stating:
"do you want to continue setup without copying the file"
i haven't.
when i started the setup, i got to teh screen asking whether i wanted to connect via usb, bluetooth etc. or skip. usb was automatically highlighted. at that point i connected my phone via usb before clicking 'next', but from the wording on the following screen i gather that i should have clicked 'next' first and then connected.
so....
1) how do i fix the ccdcmb.sys issue please? from other comments on ccdcmb.sys in the forum, am i correct in thinking i need to uninstall everything and start again?
2) could someone recommend to the guys who write the installation screens that it is made clear to users whether they should connect before clicking 'next' or after
3) also to the guys who write the screens, please finish the last line of the first error message
as an aside, earlier this month i tried to install an earlier version of ovi. that time the software wouldn't even install on my pc, giving an error code 9508.
my pc is running fully updated xp pro.

Is it possible to sync an iPad with Thunderbird's address book?

My neighbour uses a MacBookPro, she received an Ipad. She uses Thunderbird for mail and addresses. Is there a way to sync the addresses with the iPad?

Hello, I have installed DIS 11.1.1.3.0 on my Windows 7 (64bits) and I've the same problems with windows explorer integration. There is no way to make it work. DIS 11.1.1.3.0 is the latest version from Oracle's page. I couldn't find version 11.1.1.4. Does it exists, or some fix about this problem.

Sync Palm WM5 with Thunderbird/Lightning on IMAC

I'm new here, very pleased with my IMAC. However I still use my Sony Vaio when I travel.
My problem is that I have not been able to sync my PALM Treo 750v with IMAC, nor sync my mail/calender/contacts from Thunderbird on Imac with mail/calender/contacts from Thunderbird on Sony. I used to work with Activesync and Birdiesync for Palm, which worked very well. I realize both do not support Mac OS.
Any advice?
Should I switch to Ical and Mail?
Should I switch to google calender and keep it on-line?
Should I get Mark/Space software?

i have bought a new nokia x2-01 and i have already nokia e63,
i m trying to connecting my new nokia x2-01 using my e63's usb cable but pc shows that usb not recognise i have tried more then 10 times but it is not connecting can u just help me out for that pls

Sync Thunderbird with Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290

pleas excuse i know my English is not the best one.
My Problem:
I'm using Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 and have all my contacts in it.
I want to Sync that contacts with Thunderbird and tryed to use the Sync Option of Ovi.
I have done all necesary adjustment and wanteed to click on the Sync Butten, but this was deaktivated. Now I have tried to export the Kontakts but i dident found a soluten.
Can me help anybody pleas?????
I't can't be that there is no possibility to sync Thunderbird with Ovi.

They lack of functionality between Thunderbird contacts and calendar and Ovi Suite is a problem many of us have been monitoring for over 2 years. It looks like still nothing has been done about it. I, for one, cannot believe that so many users have been ignored for so long. To date I still refuse to use Ovi Suite until such time as I can see evidence that will sync contacts and calendar to and from Thunderbird. In addition I see no logical reason why the Ovi Suite developers took a huge step backwards and removed another piece of PC Suite that was already working well, for several years. I am speaking of file sync. Not media files, but others, such as Office type files. The phone can open and read documents, spreadsheets, PDF's and the like. So why can we no longer sync those files? I have been doing this for 6 years, but there are others who have used it for longer than myself. It is a crucially important feature for those of us who need to carry info with us. Since PC Suite can still do the sync, I cannot, in good conscience install Ovi SUite, which I still feel is not yet ready for primetime.
Nokia developers, stop playing games. Some of us have work to do.

Ovi Suite Thunderbird Sync

The syncing between Ovi Suite and Thunderbird cannot be a 1:1 match as Thunderbird doesn't hold all the same fields as Ovi Suite. However, I really need to be able to customise the sync mapping between fields so that I get a useful address book out of the sync process.
As it stands, I put contact's personal numbers as "Mobile (Home)" or "Mobile (Work)", likewise with email addresses and orther details.
Currently, the sync only supports the basic "Mobile", "Email" etc fields, so my sync is next to useless as I end up with empty contacts in Thunderbird. Can we please gain the ability to choose which fields correspond to one another so I can get a useful addressbook out of the sync process?

unfortunately, there is not currently a way to map the sync with ovi suite, or pc suite for that matter.

Can I sync my 6300 calendar with Thunderbird/Light...

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've just bought a bluetooth dongle for my PC and only yesterday connected my 6300 to computer and updated software etc for the first time.
I'd love to be able to sync the calendar with Thunderbird/Lightning automatically as it connects. Is this possible?
And if so, is the sync two ways or just one way. I have heaps of entries in the calendars on my work computer. I'd love to be able to sync my phone while at work, then when I go home update my home computer's calendar from the phone's. If that makes sense.

A new problem is that Windows 7 does not use Windows Calendar so the simple solution from above that works for Vista doesn't work in Windows 7.
These are the steps I took. It’s likely that not all steps are required. Sorry about the messed up formatting.....
1.       Get Windows Calendar working on Windows 7.
This is very straightforward. Follow the link below. Run it once to generate the .ics file

2.       Tell Lightning to use Windows Calendar’s .ics file
In Thunderbird, go to calendar view, right click on calendar listed on the left hand side and select properties….change its default file to point to your Windows Calendar File (C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Calendar\Calendars\Your Calendar.ics)
3.       Uninstall software that may complicate things
If they are installed, uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Ovi Suite and Microsoft Outlook.
Make the following registry changes (messing with the registry can wreck your operating system. Don’t do it unless you know what you’re doing. I take no responsibility etc etc etc)

Install PC Suite (compatibility mode may help, I tried it a few different ways but in the end I don’t think it matters)
6.       Tell PCSuite that its running on Vista
Go back into the registry
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Nokia.PCSync.Windows7PIM.ISynchAppU
Create an exact replica of this key (including its contents) but call it HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Nokia.PCSync.VISTAPIM.ISynchAppU
(It’s likely that you could just rename Windows7PIM to VISTAPIM but I created the replica key)
You should be good to go

Ovi suite can't sync, n97 crash

2 hard resets later I've still not been able to connect to Nokia's all singing all dancing Ovi suite with n97. Well, I can connect it seems but whenever I try to sync anything through it either the Ovi SUite software tells me I have no hone connected & is "unable to read tracks" or the handset restarts itself.
Come on Nokia, this handset/software is meant to be a competitor to iphone/itunes. Well it ain't. Never had problems like this with iphone, ever since day one it has worked as it was meant to. Why can't nokia software be the same I wonder....
Please help to resolve this problem.

I'd like to sync Ovi Calendar with KOrganizer or Lightning What are the right settings? In KOrganizer, I can choose "Calendar on IMAP Server via KMail" and "Calendar in Remote File". But I guess, I've to use s.th. with SyncML, right?

Moi,
You can't manually set up the ovi sync as the server generates the password automatically to the SMS message (unless you can somehow reverse engineer that from the SMS)

Management of phone with OVI suite

How does one manage their phone using OVI Suite.Example adding / amending items to the calender which is available on PC Suite or manage files and folders?

I found the answer for my problem.
I've imported my contacts from my Palm Tungsten with vcards. In my Palm I used / as separator in my phone numbers. When I imported the contacts with Nokia PC Suite it copied the numbers with / character to my phone. And Ovi synchronized it with the same character.
But it seems that Ovi does not like the / character and if a phone number contains it it will delete the phonenumber from my E52. It has the numbers on my PC but not in my phone. After I've replaced all the / characters in Ovi suite with - character everything worked fine.
