Synchronizing 2 simultainious videos

Our current project needs to simultaneously present two
videos and keep them synchronized. We are using ActionScript 3 and
we use one controller (play, pause, stop, hSlider). Our controller
is able to start, pause and stop the two videos just fine. They
start simultaneously, but as they are playing, the two videos fall
out of sync.
There does not seem to be anything systematic about the loss
of sync. That is, sometimes video 1 gets ahead, other times video 2
gets ahead. This loss of sync can be anywhere from 1 frame of video
up to more than a full second of video.
Both videos are running at 15 FPS and have the same key
frames. (In fact, the loss of sync occurs even when we are running
the identical video in the two VideoDisplays.)
We will appreciate any suggestions about keeping these two
videos synchronized while playing.

There is no practical way to synch two independent
movieClips, let alone
two video clips. You are decompressing the files at runtime.
The amount
of work that the computer has to do is directly proportional
to the
amount of data that is in the files.
Using a third party compressor, like Squeeze, you can set a
data rate
for the finished, compressed file. With a low enough data
rate, you can
usually get reliable playback of at least one .swf video or
.flv video
file. This is the same methodology that's used for
compressing real
video files like Quicktime.
When you add a second file to be played simultaneously, you
are more
than doubling the amount of work to be done.
With judicious use of a third party compressor you may be
able to get
acceptable playback on most computers, but there's no way to
guarantee
consistent results.
If there is no sound in these videos, you might be able to
lock step
them by playing each frame by frame, but that may make the
process worse.
One sure solution is to re-edit the two original files into
one video
and then save that out as an .swf or .flv.

  • Does Captivate 7/8 support *Dynamic* Streaming Video for synchronized Multi-Slide videos?

I'm experimenting with inserting Streaming Video into Captivate Lessons.  I've set up an Adobe Media Server (AMS) to stream the video.
When inserting Multi-Slide Synchronized video, it's not clear whether/how I can insert a Dynamic Streaming Video link in a synchronized Multi-Slide Video.
(The Dynamic videos can switch between videos of varying quality based on the user's available bandwidth.)
I think you're supposed use a URL that points to a manifest file (.F4M), which catalogs the videos of varying bitrates.  However, I can't seem to get it to work in Captivate and Adobe is a little vague on how/if one references the manifest file. (i.e. I can't find any examples.)
So, does Captivate support dynamic streaming video?
If not, which is more robust in Captivate? HTTP progressive download or regular (non-Dynamic) RTMP Streaming Video?

    Thanks Erik.
We did some more tests/checking-around and have convinced ourselves that the URL needs to point to the manifest file in order for Dynamic Media Streaming to work.
When we examined the Adobe Media Server sample web page (below), we found buttons to select different media sources.
The 'Multiple Bitrate' button under RTMP Dynamic Streaming Sample is mapped to the URL of an F4M (manifest) file.
The 'Single Bitrate' button is mapped to an individual mp4 file.
We also found more clues in the FlowPlayer RTMP F4M page.
Also, I'm guessing that Captivate can't handle adaptive bitrate streaming from non-RTMP sources based on the menu options. (See screen capture below)
If the menu above is correct, the first choice is the opposite of streaming media, because it says 'Progressive Download'.  (Progressive download caches the video file on the client machine.)
The next one is for private Adobe Media Streaming and the third is for 3rd-party Adobe Media Streaming services.
So, I'm pretty much convinced that it's not supported.

  • Synchronizing audio and video on a transparent layer - can it be done?

Let me start by saying I opened After Effects CS3 for the first time last weekIm a nubbie. To date I have been working in Premiere Pro CS3, Photoshop etc trying to tweak things and make-do with effects and titles I know After Effects was made for.
Can I apply an After Effects lighting/flash effect to transparent clip?
I have a long title in PPro that comes in as we hear the Narrator speaking. The last words are all of this for Reading! On the word reading I want to add a lens flare synchronized with and audio Ting-a-Ling bell noise.
In P-Pro I have been able to use Knoll Light Factory for the lens flare, and I found the right .wav file. Synchronizing them has been the problem its ok but not great. So here is where I turned to After Effects. Using Convert Audio to Key Frames I was able to generate a null object (?) and this I link (with the whip tool) to the Brightness and Scale attributes in Knolls Light Factory LE effect.
Great so far but Id like to apply the over all effect to a transparent clip so I can lay it right in on top of my P Pro time line. This title sequence is complex; I do not want to re-create it from scratch in After Effects. Is there a way to add a lighting effect to some sort of transparent video?

Hi Query 101! First of all welcome to the Apple community forums!
No, you don't need to configure it! I am guessing you have brought the apple wireless keyboard?
All you need to do is connect the keyboard to your iPad via bluetooth!
    Go to Settings app
    Select General
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
Make sure your keyboard is in discovery mode (press the silver button on the right side of the keyboard - the green light will start flashing)
In the Bluetooth section on the iPad, you should see the wireless keyboard
Select the found keyboard to pair it with the iPad
You'll be asked to type a pairing code on the keyboard - if it's entered successfully, your keyboard will be paired with the iPad (or any iOS device with Bluetooth)
Note that when you are using the Bluetooth keyboard, the normal iPad keyboard does not appear - turn off Bluetooth or the external keyboard (press and hold the button on the right side of the Apple Wireless Keyboard), or travel outside the 10-15m range of Bluetooth to go back to using the regular iPad keyboard
Hope this helps you and you can get using your new wireless keyboard on your iPad!
    Thanks

  • Synchronizing audio and video

    Hi readers,
i am doing project on video streaming in P2P using JXTA. I have streamed video and audio separately between two peers. I have met with the problem of synchronizing video and audio together. Can anyone help me...
    thanks in advance.

you can use the Manager. createMergingDataSource(DataSource[] sources) merge 2 streams first , then
    play the merged DataSource.

  • Synchronizing pics and videos through itunes

When I synchronize ipad with folder with pics and videos I can't transfer videos. But I put tick on synchronizing video from folder. Why does it happen? Thanks in advance.

The video does need to be imported into iTunes first, then sync'd. Also, for example, if you have a .wmv it won't sync because iPads dont' play that format. So you may be trying to sync a format the device doesn't like.
Import them into iTunes, then connect the device and choose to manually sync movies and then choose the ones you want to sync. iTunes should only show you videos that will go onto your ipad.

  • Stuck on "synchronizing pics & videos"

On both my wife's and mine palm centro phones, hotsyncing  stops/hangs on "synchronizing pics & videos"
    It used to work..
    a few questions:
    1) can I "debug" the sync--i.e. get a verbose log file of what's going on?
    2) Does this problem pertain to the *quantity* of pics/videos
    3) as a follow on, what about "finer control" over synching pics/videos/media? if I put a 300mb .mp4 file on my palm via the microSD card, how do I tell hotsync "don't synchronzie this".
One item: we installed companionlink google-calendar sync earlier, but do not use it.
    thanks,
    bill

The issue could involve the number and size of files it has to sync.  How long have you let Hotsync "hang" before shutting it down?  Large files take a lonnnnnng time to Hotsync.
Also, what version of Windows and Palm Desktop are you using?
Try disabling the pics & videos conduit in Hotsync Manager to get past the clog and make sure there's nothing else bogging it down.

  • Synchronizing audio to video

On a website there is an hour-long program. My objective is to make a 12-minute .mov clip from 12 minutes in about the middle of that program. I have permission from the owner of the program to do this.
Retrieving the original file uploaded in the first place has proven impractical, so I must download the program from the website and then edit it.
I installed DownloadHelper to augment Firefox so that it could fetch the program from the website, producing a .flv file. I can play the downloaded .flv file with VLC. Having just installed Perian, I now can edit the .flv file in Quicktime 7 Pro under MacOS 10.6.4.
    Almost there.
However, the lip sync is way off. It is off when I watch the program with FireFox on the website, thus it is also off when I watch the .flv file with VLC and my 12-minute clip with QuickTime 7 Pro.
How can I correct the lip sync in my 12-minute clip?
    --Gil

I was unable to export my movie from QuickTime in a form that iMovie will accept. This topic is posted over in the iMovie forum.
However, my partner did manage to use QuickTime 7 Pro on his machine to adjust the audio (by 2 seconds and 4 frames) and save it to a new file. He called this file, appropriately enough, "Synced".
"Synced" plays fine now in QuickTime Player (Version 10.0, in my Applications Folder, the app that came with Snow Leopard). The audio is perfectly in sync.
I want to edit the hour-long file to a 12-minute clip, so I opened the same "Synced" file in QuickTime 7 (Version 7.6.3 (630), located in my Utilities Folder, with no version number shown in Finder, that I paid $39 to upgrade to "Pro").
Much to both of our surprises, in the QuickTime 7 application on the same "Synced" file, the audio is OUT OF SYNC just as much as was the original file.
On a hunch, I opened the original file in each application.
With QuickTime Player (version 10.0, etc.), the original file is out of sync and the "Synced" file is in sync.
With QuickTime 7 (Version 7.6.3, $39, etc.) BOTH the original file and the "Synced" file are OUT OF SYNC by the same amount.
Can someone please help me understand what is going on?

  • How do I use the iPhone 5 to make a video with a synched soundtrack?

I want to record a music video for a song.  The audio of the video would just be a song (presumably playing from my iTunes).  The video would be a P.O.V.-style shot taken with my iPhone 5 (walking around the street, for example).  I would like the audio of the song to be synched with my movements.  In the sense that a) there is no street noise, b) it's just the clean studio track for audio, c) the audio is playing in my ears (headphones via the iPhone's headphone jack) and d) because the audio playback inside the iPhone is synchronous with the video recording inside the iPhone, the video looks sharp (for example, any "air-drumming" would be synched well).
I hope the description makes sense.  Is the above possible with the iMovie app?  Happy to pay for the app.  Just want to make sure it's equipped to do this. Any advice appreciated.  Thanks.

You would need imovie to do that on the phone. It costs $4.99 on the app store

  • Audio not in Sync with Video

When I play back the video from the camera, the audio is not synchronized with the video. The video appears to be behind by about 2 seconds. Is this normal or is there some setting to correct the problem?

Yes, there is a simple correction.
The problem is in your computer, it lacks enough power to operate to your satisfaction.
This has been posted before....... I reciently purchased a powerfull laptop because i could not enjoy my videos on my 2.4 mhz single core older computer.
Your camcorder is more powerfull than your computer is...Ha,Ha,Ha....
You can do as I did, set your Vado HD to VGA mode, this will ease the requirements of your computer a little...but then when you get a modern computer you will wish you had all your videos in HD+.........

  • My 7d video picks up camera hum. What accessories do I need to shoot music videos for youTube?

HI, could you specify more clearly what kind of sound does it pick up?
Any AF noise will likely be picked up by the mic/audio recorder. Disable AF for serious video shooting if you can't place the mic far from the camera.
TIPS FOR AUDIO RECORDING WITH EXTERNAL DEVICE connected to the camera:
This is possible thanks to the latest firmware 2.x for the 7D that allows to select Manual Audio Gain control. It's also possible in every other camera with Manual Audio Gain like 5D2, 5D3, 60D, T3i, etc.
    - Disable Auto Gain Control. Select Manual Audio gain instead.
    - Move the gain slider all way to the left (to zero) and then move it only one click to the right (this will enable audio gain, but to its minimum)
    - Connect the mic/recording device to the camera via male to male stereo cable (usually shipped with the audio recorder) this way:  "Line Out/Headphones" (in the audio recorder) to the "Mic input" (in the camera).
    - Set the Audio Gain / Headphones Volume in the recorder (checking the audio levels on the LCD of your camera) to reach about -12db as average (with the sound source you will record). Avoid clipping audio, and setting it too low.
    - Using this method you will get audio on your footage with LOT better quality than using the buil-in mic of the camera and the audio will be already synchronized with the video.
    - If you want to record audio with the audio recorder, you can, so you will have a second audio file (called "double audio recording") of even much higher quality (if you set the recorder accordingly) that you can easily sync in post to replace the audio track recorded by the camera.
    NOTES & SUGGESTIONS:
    - If you use a mono Mic/Audio recorder, you will get mono audio in your footage (obviously)
    - Place  the external Mic/Audio recorder as near as possible to the sound source, and as far as possible from the camera. If you can't put the mic/audio recorder out of your rig, then put it as far as possible from the camera and lens (and not behind it). In this case the best position is in front but at a side.
    - Good Audio recorders that have extremely versatile features are Zoom H2n and Zoom H4n. You can record audio as mentioned above with both of them using just the buil-in mics of these recorders. Just be sure to adjust them right.
    - Always do some tests before shooting. Fixing bad audio is very difficult, sometimes more difficult than fixing video.
    - Always use some kind of wind screen over the mic/audio recorder, otherwise you'll get noise even from a slight breeze or when moving your camera setup.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to retrieve the Audio/Video link (final cut pro hd 5)

Hi there, and sorry for my misknowledgement of this soft.
I'd like to know if it's possible once we have delete the audio part of a clip in the timeline to get back the Audio part synchronized with the video.
    Thx for help !

Not entirely sure if I'm following you but try this:
    Select your video-only clip
Press F on your keyboard to do a Match Frame. The (video & audio) clip should now be loaded into the Viewer with the In & Out matching your timeline clip.
Replace the clip in the timeline with the clip from the Viewer (For most folks/scenarios, that means drag from the Viewer)
Post back if that isn't it.

  • How do I read the Vsync register on my PC video card output?

I am desiging an application in LabVIEW that presents jpgs on the monitor. The problem is I need the presentation to be synchronized to the video refresh rate (I require mS timing in the application) and I inveriably get a jitter depending on when the CRT starts to "draw" the video signal. I need to be able to poll the video registers to "see" when the VSYNC pulse is initiated.

  • Splitting Audio From Video

    Hello
I'm having trouble splitting audio from video. I currently have Final Cut Pro 6 from the final cut studio package, and my issue is that my audio is not synchronized with my video. The audio is coming in too early for the video and the voices of the people in the video do not match up. How can I fix this problem? How can I move the audio without moving the video as well?

Select the clip and hit command L to separate the tracks.
The real issue is why the footage is out of sync.

  • Audio not in synch with video when mov files played in QT 7.6

When I play .mov files stored in an iPhoto 08 photo library, the audio is not in synch with the video. People's lips move and the audio comes out a second or so later. This is a relatively new problem, and I don't have the same problem when I play .avi files. A couple weeks ago, the audio and video were good and they were synchronized. The video in the .mov files is also choppy. The video plays for a few seconds, briefly pauses, and then starts again.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm not sure this is the issue. The video files were never in iMovie. Only imported into the iPhoto libaray from my Kodak M1033 camera. A few weeks ago, I did not have an issue with .mov files playing smoothly. Perhaps there was a recent update to QT?
When I upload the .mov clips to Flickr (www.flickr.com) or YouTube, they play just fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
