  • System Center Updates Publisher

    Hi All,
I'm looking at deploying some Adobe software, specifically Flash, and their download page refers to an alternative mechanism of obtaining the software being System Center Updates Publisher.
I can't find an awful lot on it, so:
    1. Is it compatible with CM 2012 R2, and if so is there a resource on enabling/installing it?
    2. Is it a better mechanism than just downloading the update and creating an application?
    TIA

SCUP 2011 is supported with certain limitations take a look here
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2013/12/11/system-center-updates-publisher-2011-support-statement-update.aspx
Download Kent Agerlund's install and config guide from here
    http://blog.coretech.dk/kea/the-complete-scup-2011-installation-and-configuration-guide/
It's a great addition to ConfigMgr however catalogs that are available for it for free are limited.

  • Systems Center Update publisher

I have Systems Center 2012 R2 setup and running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 box.  I installed update publisher on this same box so I can get the Adobe catalogs and include the adobe updates with my other updates.   Update publisher installed just
fine, but I'm running into issues when trying to set it up.  Under Options > Update Server > Connect to local update server when I enable it I get the following message when I test the connection:
When I click the "Create" button under Signing Certificate to create a certificate I just keep getting that same pop-up everytime I click it.  I read somewhere that 2012 no longer will create self signed certs, but I'm not sure how to get
around this issue.  Anyone have any help?  Thanks in advance.

Here's the info on re-enabling WSUS self-signed cert generation:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/wsus/archive/2013/08/15/wsus-no-longer-issues-self-signed-certificates.aspx
I suggest you don't re-enable this though -- they disabled it for a reason. Go the extra mile, get a PKI smart resource and deploy a PKI.

Thks in advance and don't hesitate if you have any questions.

To my knowledge no, there is no CLI in SCUP 2011 and no automation layer.

  • Updates Publisher 2011 + SCCM 2012 - no signing certificate every time (Bug?)

    Hello everybody,
I got a strange problem with the System Center Updates Publisher 2011 which I want to use with SCCM 2012 (SP1).
Some weeks ago I was able to enable the publishing on the update server (SCUP + SCCM + WSUS are the same machine), to create a self signed certificate and to astablish the connection to the WSUS server.
Some weeks later the SCUP seems to "forgot" the certificate and the option "Enable publishing to an update server" is disabled.
If I try to reactivate this option then I can not create a new self signed certificate anymore.
I get always the "... test connection succeeded. However, no signing certificate was detected ..." dialog.
I also can not choose the existing certificate (.pfx) file ("No certificate information available").
    Is this a bug?
Can I deinstall the SCUP completely and create a new certificate again?

Did you open SCUP as administrator? But Yes, you can reinstall SCUP and create another cert or use the existing cert.

  • Run adobe cs3 updater remotely via command line unix command?

is there a way to run the adobe updater from the command line for adobe cs3? I have a bunch of machines that already have cs3 installed, and I would like to be able to use ARD to "send unix command" and have the installer run and update the relevant apps?
    Thanks in advance...
PS-is it me or is this forum ridiculously slow on safari? Sheesh!

  • Hi i have planned to deploy firefox latest version vis SCUp (syste center update publisher )

hi i have planned to deploy firefox latest version vis SCUp (system centre update publisher kindly let me know the silent key to install via scup by disabling automatic updates
    jeevan

Shouldn't you do the following things (see also:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh134743.aspx):
    Add Windows Language is French to the top AND;
    Change the second AND to an OR;
Add the WMI Query to the new OR (so it's at the same level as the
    Windows Version = Windows 7 SP1);
Remove the last OR (as it's not being used anymore).

  • Since updating to OS X Mavericks I get a continuous update request for command line developer tools.  How do I stop this?

Since installing OS X Mavericks, automatic updates keep producing download demand for Command Line Developer tools 6.0 and 6.1.  I don't need these but cannot seem to stop the updates available, even if they are downloaded and installed.  Can anyone tell me how to stop this?

  • Enable System Wide DEP Support via command line

Hello all, I am trying to deploy EMET to our organization, but I notice on my test installation on a Windows 7 PC, systemwide DEP was not enabled by default. I figured I can activate this through the command line, but I seem to be running into some trouble.
It looks like the command line that I want to use is:
    emet_conf --system [--force] SysMitigation=State [SysMitigation=State ...]
However, I have tried all the different combinations of variables to turn on DEP using this command line, and I keep hitting a brick wall. Has anyone else been able to successfully turn on DEP from the command line?

    Try:
    emet_conf --system DEP=AlwaysOn
Be careful because if you use BitLocker it will ask the recovery key on next boot (you'll need he --force switch). Also make sure to test that setting because there might be some app-compat issues with applications that do not support DEP.

  • Does System Center Update Rollup 4 also contain Update Rollup 3 and Update rollupt 2, etc

    Hi,
Does System Center SP1 Update Rollup 4 also contain Update Rollup 3 and Update rollupt 2, etc?
Can I go from Update rollup 2 and apply update rollup 4 and get the updates in 3 as well?
    Thanks Lance

    Hello!
Yes, the previous updates are included in UR4, so there is no need to install UR3 if you are going from UR2 to UR4.
By the way, the latest update rollup for System Center SP1 is UR5: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2904730/en-us

  • Windows update publisher 2011 - cannot deploy updates

    Hi
We have installed SCCM 2012 and SCUP 2011. But I have a problem when trying to deploy the updates.
In SCUP 2011 i have imported the catalogs, assigned the updates i need and published them.
Now the updates are shown in SCCM 2012, I then select them and click deploy. I run through the wizard, but at the last step it fails. See attached screenshot.
I looked at the log files here %temp% and found the PatchDownloader.log and SCUP.log.
In the PatchDownloader.log this is shown, see attachment.
Please help, I don't understand if this is a certificate problem or a connection problem

I'd go with certificate problem since the line in your log right above ERROR says that it failed to authenticate the file.
What kind of certificate are you using in SCEP to sign the files?  Is the key length long enough?  Is it still valid?

To find out what version of Eclipse you have, open the .eclipseproduct file.
To find out what version of the JRC you are on, you can look at the <eclipse home>\plugins\com.businessobjects.sdks.jrc.11.8.x to see what your latest version is.
This stack trace on it's own doesn't indicate why you are having a problem.  It could be a problem with something in the report.... or it could be something wrong in the code.  To ensure your code is correct, you should verify it against the sample code in the Developer Library and the JRC sample downloads.
Does the file get exported even though you have the error or is there no file or a zero byte file?

  • (urgent) Lost system after update. Again!

I just did full system update including kernel, and after reboot the system boots up only to command line because of course there are no modules anymore. No sound, graphics, network, no nothing.
To add fun to it, I am at work and have still lots of work do to in this machine which is now unusable.
I want to know how to reverse kernel update (if this would help) without internet connection
    AND/OR
How to (Re)compile(?) all modules for current kernel which pacman apparently did not see necessary.

Ok, it happened again, but this time I was watching.
So, what is happening is that during system update run with
    terminal -e "yaourt -Syua"
(I am running it from a dock launcher)
mkinitcpio fails with error saying "mkinitcpio does not exist"
However, if after the system upgrade I run "pacman -S linux" all goes well and good.

  • Command line - how find name of AD

I have inherited a MacOSX 10.4.7 server that is bound to a Windows2003 AD system.
What is the command line enquiry to type on the Mac to discover the name of the AD server it is bound to.
    TIA

Have you configured the AD plug-in yourself? Generally all you specify is a domain. The plug-in uses AD DNS to get the global catalog or nearest domain controller. It doesn't bind to a specific server... it binds to AD as a whole. It will carry out transactions with the server it is told is its nearest PDC. It's up to either the GC or other AD DNS service records to tell it the info it wants.
Having said that, you can configure the "prefer this domain controller" option in the plug-in to try and make it go to a specific server each time.
