System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException reading big number

I have in my oracleserver (8.1.7) a table with a column declared as number. Writing into this column a big floating number like 1E30 and
reading this row with a OleDbDataAdapter or OleDbDataReader ends in the following exception:
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Accessor is not a parameter accessor
Strange:
- Writing 1e30 to a number column (via OleDbDataAdapter) works fine (checked with SQL*).
- Writing 1e-30 to a number column works fine too, but reading it returns 0.
I use OraOleDB 9.2.0.4.0. Those Problems occures under framework 1.0 and 1.1.
Anybody knows a solution? Do I have to live with DB double data between 1e-27 and 1e27?
Thanks,
Michael

Hello Pablo,
And how does your connection string "strXLS" looks like?

    Hello,
    The Overflow exception may occurs with type conversion problems in your query. For example, insert a string into an integer column.
    Please try to run the query in debug mode and see whether there are the incorrect data types.

    Hello Friends
    I am facing problem while saving the data into the ms access 2007.
    Below picture shows my database and table
    Below picture shows my error log.
    Here is my GettingCategoryId() method code.
    private OleDbCommand GettingCategoryId()
    OleDbCommand cmd2 = new OleDbCommand("select * from tbl_category where category_name='" + combobox_category_name.Text + "' ", GlobalVarClass.globalCon);
    OleDbDataReader dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    while (dr.Read())
    textBox1.Text = Convert.ToString(dr.GetInt32(0));
    return cmd2;
    Here is my conv_photo() method code.
    void conv_photo()
    //converting photo to binary data
    if (pictureBox1.Image != null)
    ms = new MemoryStream();
    pictureBox1.Image.Save(ms, ImageFormat.Jpeg);
    byte[] photo_aray = new byte[ms.Length];
    ms.Position = 0;
    ms.Read(photo_aray, 0, photo_aray.Length);
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@item_image", photo_aray);
    Here is my connection string.
    public static string gloabal_connection_string = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source= " + Application.StartupPath + "\\pos_fircos.accdb";
    public static OleDbConnection globalCon = new OleDbConnection(gloabal_connection_string);
    This is my saving code.
    OleDbCommand cmd = GettingCategoryId();

    I strongly recommend that you change your command from using string formatting to build up the command to a simple command that uses parameters.  This will: a) clean up your code so it is understandable, b) prevent SQL injection attacks which your current
    code is fully vulnerable to, c) help more easily identify which parameter you aren't actually setting.
    //Not validated against the compiler so there may be syntax errors
    var cmd = new OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO tbl_items(category_id,item_no,item_model,item_description,item_sale_price,item_image) Values (@categoryId, @itemNo, @itemModel, @itemDescription, @itemPrice, @itemImage)", GlobalVarClass.globalCon);
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@categoryId", Convert.ToInt32(textBox1.Text));
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@itemNo", textbox_item_no.Text);
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@itemModel", textbox_item_model.Text);
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@itemDescription", textbox_item_description.Text);
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@itemPrice", Convert.ToDouble(textbox_item_sale_price.Text));
    //This is the parameter that doesn't seem to have any value so replace ?? with the variable holding the value of the image
    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@itemImage", ??);
    conv_photo();
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();

  • System.Data - Crash during DataTable.Load

    Hello
    I encountered a (random) crash of my executable during a DataTable.Load when i do a "select" request with a big CLOB (> 24000 characters).
    I have coded a test and the error happen after 5 or 6 execution. I find a way to correct the problem by adding a Thread.Sleep after the DataTable.Load.
    But it's clearly not a solution
    DataTable myTable = new DataTable();
            myTable.Load(myReader);
    => This code crash
    DataTable myTable = new DataTable();
            myTable.Load(myReader);
            Thread.Sleep(1000);
    => this code work
    I have the same problem with a myReader.GetValue() and a myReader.GetString()
    If someone could provide an explanation...
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Sorry so late to answer your question.
    Per my understanding, you have load a large of data,and don't have enough memory.
    But form the exception Info: System.AccessViolationException
    It seems as joel said, maybe some others attempt to read/write the same data. Please exclude these
    factors and try again.  Good Luck!Best wishes!

  • How to calculate week number from system date

    Hi experts,
    how to calculate week number from system date  ?
    thanks.
    SK

    hi,
    The above FM can be used for BADI or customer exit, if it is design level then you can use formula as well, under formula date functions you can use DATE_TO_WEEK.
    regards,
    Arvind.

  • Using thread to read a big number of files

    Hi all,
    I got a question with THREAD. Can you help me, please?
    I have a class, PragFileLoader, to read many files in a folder. First readDir() reads whole directory and gets a list of file name. Then readFile() reads each file. And finally readLine() reads each line in a file. The problem here is a big number of files. So I have to construct many instances of PragFileLoader. However I should use some kind of lock in a file, which is read by certain PragFileLoader, to let other instances of PragFileLoader know that it's locked therefore these instances won't read the locked file, they gonna to read other files.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.Vector;
    public class PragFileLoader extends Thread{
        private Vector v;
         * Constructor
        public PragFileLoader() {
            v = new Vector();
         * Read a line
         * @param str a line to read
        public TrafficDataObject readLine(String fN, String str) {
            // Do something
        public synchronized void readFile(String fileName, File in, File err, File done) {
            try {
                Thread.sleep((int) (Math.random() * 100));
                  // Do something
            } catch (IOException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();  //To change body of catch statement use File | Settings | File Templates.
            } catch (InterruptedException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();  //To change body of catch statement use File | Settings | File Templates.
            notifyAll();
        public void readDir() {
            //   Vector v = new Vector();
            File in = new File(Preferences.PRAGINBOX);
            File err = new File(Preferences.PRAGERROR);
            err.mkdirs();
            File done = new File(Preferences.PRAGDONE);
            done.mkdirs();
            String[] fileName = in.list();
            for (int i = 0; i < fileName.length; i++) {
                //readFile(fileName, v, in, err, done);
    readFile(fileName[i], in, err, done);
    public Vector getV(){
    return v;
    public void run() {
    for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
    readDir();
    try {
    Thread.sleep((int) (Math.random() * 100));
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    And in main() I construct 10 instances of PragFileLoader and I got nothing

    Do you have to make readDir() part of PragFileLoader?
    Why don't you first read the directory once, and then assign the files to a thread each. I don't think it's efficient to have too many file reading threads running at the same time.

    Hey Ayaz,
    I do had the same error message when I click on "PowerPivot Management Dashboard". After few research I resolved this issue.
    You need to provide the dbReader and dbWriter permission to powerpivot app pool account at "SharePoint_AdminContent_ca021d58-ef1f-4f30-9aeb-6f24db24862b"
    Have a great day :-)

    DATA:
        V_EBELN TYPE EKPO-EBELN,
        V_YEAR  TYPE SY-DATUM.
    CLEAR: V_EBELN, V_YEAR.
    *Read year from system date
    V_YEAR = SY-DATUM+0(4).
    CONCATENATE '%' '%' '%' '%' V_YEAR INTO V_YEAR.
    *Select section
    SELECT SINGLE EKPO~EBELN INTO V_EBELN
    FROM EKPO
      INNER JOIN EKKO
        ON EKPOEBELN = EKKOEBELN
      INNER JOIN LFM1
        ON EKKOLIFNR = LFM1LIFNR
       WHERE EKKO~LIFNR = LFM1-LIFNR
         AND EKKO~BEDAT LIKE V_YEAR
         AND EKPO~LOEKZ = SPACE.

    Hi Sougata,
    Thanks for the inputs, but it is not working:
    Move:      sy-datum(4) to v_begda, -> This reads the system year 2008
            '0101'     to v_begda,  -> This changes 2008 to 0101
            sy-datum(4) to v_endda, -> This reads system year i.e. 2008
            '1231'     to v_endda. -> This changes 2008 to 1231
    Also in the select statement
    AND EKKO~BEDAT between v_begda and v_endda
    This would not work, as EKKO-BEDAT is in year month date format.
    So can you please clarify why we are assigining 0101 & 1231 & also how we can compare only the year in EKKO-BEDAT with System Year
    Update
    I tried to
    concatenate '0101 into v_begda.
    concatenate '1231' into v_endda.
    but system prompts "charlike-field" expected after "'0101'"
    Can you please advice?

  • Role for system data dictionary read-only access

    [NOTE: this is for 9i]
    What grants must a role have to have read-only access to
    the system data dictionary tables (e.g.: ALL_SOURCE,
    ALL_OBJECTS, ...)?
    Or, is there somewhere in the docs that talks about this
    kind of role?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Well, the answer to your explicit question would be that it would need SELECT on each of the data dictionary views that do not have SELECT granted to PUBLIC. To find out what those are, you could do:
    SELECT table_name, privilege
    FROM dba_tab_privs
    WHERE grantee = 'SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE'however, it would probably be easier just to grant it SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE :-)

  • Calculate number of days based on Computer System Date and a Due Date row!

    Hi everyone,
    I have a query to run a report where the results has a column named “Due Date” which holds a date value based on the project submission date.
    Now, I need to add 4 columns named, “45 Days Expectant”, “30 Days Overdue”, “60 Days Overdue” and “90 Days Overdue”.
    I need to do a calculation based on the “Due Date” and “System (I mean default computer date) Date” that if “System Date” is 45 days+ to “Due Date” than put “Yes” in “45 Days Expectant” row.
    Also, if “Due Date” is less than or equal to system date by 30 days, put “Yes” in “30 Days Overdue” and same for the 60 and 90 days.
    For example the output should be like:
    Is this possible? Can someone help me how to write this case please? Thanks heaps...cheers...

    Hi artistdedigital,
    Based on your description, you have an exist column “Due Date” in the report. Please refer to the following steps:
    Add a table in the report body. Right click one column select “Insert Column” option to add other two columns of the table.
    Drag the Due Date field in the second column.
    Right click the text box in the first column of the second row, click the Expression option to add the expression Visakh posted above.
    =IIF(DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Now(),Fields!DueDate.value) > 45, "Yes",Nothing)
    Use the same method to add other three expression in the table.

    Hi Jay,
    Thanks but those dates are just a reference. The actual table contains hundreds of date rows... so I guess this technique will not work (not sure though)...
    I am quite cool with this bit:
    select duedate,
    case when days > -45 and days < 0 then 'YES' else '' end as '45 Days Expectant',
    case when days between 30 and 60 then 'YES' else '' end as '30 Days overdue',
    case when days between 60 and 90 then 'YES' else '' end as '60 Days overdue',
    case when days > 90 then 'YES' else '' end as '90 Days overdue'
    from cte--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------But can you please explain this bit a more? Thanks for being so prompt though : )declare @tab table (duedate datetime)
    insert @tab select '04/25/2014'
    insert @tab select '02/10/2014'
    insert @tab select '01/10/2014'
    insert @tab select '12/10/2013'
    ;with cte

    select duedate,datediff(dd,duedate,getdate()) as days

  • Printing System Date on Report Title

    How can I print the system date on the title of report generated by SQL*Plus?
    I remember it is possible to include SQL.PNO in the statement TTITLE to print the page number. Is there any variable like SQL.PNO which represent system date?
    Previously I've include SYSDATE to the SELECT statement of the report. It is the column named TODAY, with option NOPRINT and NEW_VALUE TT_TODAY, where TT_TODAY is include in TTITLE statement. The problem is: if the SELECT statement returns nothing, TT_TODAY will be blank/Null.
    How can I work around with this problem?

    Dear all,
    My colleague told me the way to print System Date on title of SQL*Plus report as followed:
    COLUMN today NEW_VALUE tt_today NOPRINT FORMAT A1 TRUNC
    TTITLE CENTER tt_today RIGHT SQL.PNO
    SET FEEDBACK OFF
    SET TERMOUT OFF
    SELECT SYSDATE AS today FROM DUAL;
    SPOOL RPTFILE
    SELECT ....... << to generate report output >> .......
    SPOOL OFF
    SET TERMOUT ON
    SET FEEDBACK ON
    It works! The output file contains System Date on each page title.
    I don't understand why Oracle didn't implement variable similar to SQL.PNO to represent the System Date. If Oracle is able to create SQL.PNO which can increment on each page break, why not the System Date which remains the same on each page?

  • CR 2010 Report using "File System Data" as source fails in production

    Hello, I've recently upgraded my website from VS 2008 with full CR 2008 to VS 2010 using CR 2010 SP1 runtime (x32).  Everything went fine except for one report that uses as a source the "file system data".  It points to a share on a samba drive and it worked great before the upgrade.  After upgrading my development box the report runs fine, but when I deployed it, it fails with the message:
    Failed to load database information. Error in File {report name} {D5D84E7F-54DB-4BCA-B3C3-0A169CDC36D7}.rpt: Failed to load database information.
    I made sure the websiteu2019s Application Pool identity was set to use credentials of a user who has access to the share.
    The data source has the following properties:
    Database DLL:   crbd_filesystem.dll
    File Mask: .
    Include Empty Directories: False
    Max Number of Subdirectory Levels: -1
    Starting Directory:
    {FreeBSD server name}\{share name}
    This report uses a sub-report which has the same source.  This report works fine from (full) CR 2008 and from the designer inside of VS 2010 works too.  I can run it on my development box (in release and debug modes) which is Windows 7 (x64) using IIS 7.
    In production, we donu2019t include the runtime in our application deployment, since we run multiple sites and do updates frequently, so we pre-install (one time) the runtime separately on the server.  We installed the CR 2010 SP1 x32 runtime on our test and development boxes which both are Windows 2003 with IIS6 and made sure they are setup to use .Net 4 and have the Application Pool identity setup to have access to the share.  All my other reports which use ODBC work fine.  Just this one report doesnu2019t and Iu2019m at a loss on how to even begin troubleshooting this.
    Is CR 2010 still capable of using u201Cfile system datau201D as a source?  I couldnu2019t find anything on u201Cfile system datau201D with CR 2010.  Though I have seen under Other Sources, it still exist when I created a new report, just to try it out.

    Looks like you've found a bug with the CRVS2010 runtime. I looked for the crbd_filesystem.dll in the CRVS2010 install directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86) and it is there. I then opened up the 32 bit MSI and MSM with the MS Orca utility to see if the file is included and it is not.
    Two things we can do:
    1) Add the crdb_filesystem.dll to your install and make sure it installs to the above directory on the runtime computer
    2) I will created a fix request for the issue, however next fix will be Service Pack 2 (ETA, sometime after October) and I doubt this will make it there. So we'd be looking at SP 3 - if there will be one (ETA would be in 2012).

  • How can i read every"number" value and not only the 1st?

    The more I look at your program, the less I understand it.
    Why are you setting number = number in a case if SO2 = ""? number always equals number.
    In your sequence frames 1 and 4, you have no control over which write (date or time) happens first. Just placing one function to the left of another doesn't make it happen first if your wiring doesn't create data dependency. Review the section on Data Dependency in chapter 5 of the LabView User's Manual.
    It looks you're writing to and reading from the same file using Write File and Read Lines from File.vi. Why read back data you just wrote? You have the data on your diagram. If you want to convert it from string to numeric, use a Sring/Number Conversion function from the String palette.
    On Read Lines from File.vi (which I'm not sure you even need), you should use a shift register for the start of read offset rather than a local variable for mark after read (chars.). With a shift register, you can initialize it to 0 when the VI starts. Using a local, if you restart the VI, it will try to startup from where you left off the last time, but you just opened the file for create or replace.
    In your sequence frames 2 and 3, why do you wait for the number to be less than the numeric before writing a carriage return to the file? Also, LabView has a End of Line constant which adapts to the expected value for the operating system. That's generally more flexible than a Carriage Return.
    It looks to me like you're overusing control refnums. You don't need to use a control refnum and a property node to set or read a control's value if you can wire directly to the control's terminal.
    I really don't understand what you're doing with pause and variants. I may be missing the point, but it looks like you made this much more complicated than it needs to be. Why not keep it a boolean?
    For your pause-path, you open the file but never close it. You can lose data that way. You also open it using open function 3, create new file. You'll get an error if the file already exists.
    On a general note, your diagram would be easier to read if you were more selective in how you routed your wires: you have wires on top of wires, wires running under sub-VIs, wires running in the frame of a while loop, wires running under labels.
    I think there's a temptation to overuse sequences. I don't think you need one here. As I mentioned in my earlier message, case structures and shift registers will be more useful to you.
