System LAndsacpe

Hi experts,
(Q1). I’m new to SAP XI and recently I’ve attended an interview with an MNC. There the interviewer asked to draw complete system landscape (all systems which are integrated with XI). I told him that I’ve configured JDBC, File (with content conversions), IDOC, RFC and SOAP adapters. I need a sample system landscape wherein I can show all the systems involved in configurations and it shud cover all the above mention adapters. In which scenario we use JDBC adapter……I
(Q2). In a system landscape do we maintain a single File server or every system will have there own file servers. If only a single file server exists then how we can configure file2file scenario using RFC?
(Q3). In which scenario we use JDBC adapter….I mean can we send the data directly to DB lets say SQL Server without using any front-end applications.
Thanks in advance
Faisal
Points will be given to the correct answers.

Hi Abdul,
Abdul, first you have to know what is sld, how many sld's can be configured, it purely depends on the client's requirement, they may maintaing single SLD for DEV, QUA & Production, or they may maintain individually. and if we deploy the .tpz file of adapters all the adapter which are present with the XI will be deployed and can be viewed and according to the requirement we choose the adapter.
If u deal with the DATABASE then u have to go with the corresponding JDBC adapter, else if u want to work with CSV or XML files then u will be going for the file adapter, it purely depends on the requirement of your scenario.
SLD contains
1>SW catalog, which contains
SW product: is any application. Ex: MS office.
SW Component: is any new funcationality that is added to the product.
SW Component version: version of the new functionality.
2>System Catalog, which contains
Tech systems: SW products are installed on the tech systems.
Busines Systems: are Logical systems that take part in the actual message exchange.

    HI,
You already have a NWDI, so just mention your portal quality server in runtime system.

  • Unicode Conversion in a system landsacpe

    Hello,
we are planning a unicode conversion of our productive system.
Our productive system is the source system of several systems like BI, mobile engine, webshop and so on.
About the problems of unicode conversion within the productive system I have found a lot of information.
But what about the scenario: If our productive system is unicode based and the satellite system do not have unicode, is that a problem.
Do we have to keep in mind to convert also the target/satellite system ?
And futher more do we have to analyse the program codes in the satellite system for BI (transfer structure, infoobject and so) ?
Do anybody have expierience with his system landscape ?
    Thanks so far,
    Komin

    hello henning,
are you connected with the other systems via RFC?
if yes it should be no problem, because you can different in you rfc settings, between incoming non-unicode lettes and outging unicode

  • ChaRM system landsacpe

    Hi all,
if your TMS has the tranport routes: Dev to QA to Staging to Prod, how do you set up your system landscape for the ChaRM maintenance project?
    Specifically, where does staging go?
    thanks,
    Jason

    it's something like R3D:10 to R3Q:60 to R3S:80 to R3P:100
there isn't a system role for Staging in the projects system landscape. I was told by SAP that your landscape should match your TMS client specific transport routes.

  • Evaluation System

    Hi All ,
I have created project and assigned the logical component which includes  3 systems with DEV, Test and Prod roles .
When I define a Business  Blueprint in SOLAR01 it opens  by default a project with an "evaluation system"  role.
My question is which one of the systems in my system landscape supposed to be an evaluation system, Dev , Test or Prod ?
What is the best practice ?
I know that is Evaluation system is designed for Business Blueprint phase , but what is really meaning ?
    Cheers ,
    Evgeny

    Hi all,
I've had the same issue with regards to getting the error below when assigning transactions to a Blueprint business process.
"No system found for component and Evaluation system in the Project"
But I think I have solved it and seems pretty simple to change the system role from Evaluation System to any other that is relevant in your landscape.
Go to transaction SOLAR01 > Click on the first level of the Project Name (Under Business Blueprint Structure) to select the Project.
Click Business Blueprint in the Menu > System Role > Choose the relevant System Role (in my case Development)
    Click Copy
This should replicate to all nodes and then you should be able to assign transaction to the business processes.
Quite strange and seems simple, I checked the Solution Directory, Solar Project Admin etc etc but couldn't find the solution until this which should work.
If not, there is a similar work around which also works.
    Go to transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN
    System Landsacpe Tab
    Systems subtab
    Click System Role Assignment
Remove the Evaluation System (or all those not relevant to your Project and Logical Components)
    Save Project
Go to SOLAR01 and it should reflect it in the Blueprint.
You can always go back to this and add the System Roles you removed and the Blueprint will reference the correct Role.
    Hope this helps everyone,

  • 3 system and 4 system landscape - Charm

    Dear All,
We have 3 system landsacpe for ECC and 4 System Landscape for BI?
Is it possible to configure CHaRM for these landscape?
If yes, please give me step by step guidelines.
    How to create Maintenance Cycle?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
This is possible. The three system landscape is the usual scenario. In four system landscap, you just need to add a pre-production system in your landscape.
Go to the Wiki http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Weblogs%20related%20to%20Solution%20Manager and search for Change Request Management. There are some 10 docs available there. Specifically have a look on
First steps to work with Change Request Management scenario
    /people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario
Call service.sap.com/rkt-solman. You can find the materials for project prepration, corrections etc.
Call SPRO in your solman system and go through the documentation provided there.
This will give you adequate information for configuring ChaRM.

  • Event due to the System or SystemLandscape creation

    Hi
Does portal runtime generates any kind of event, for any System or System landsacpe get created in PCD?
    Thanks
    arati

    Hi Gurucharan,
Do you have any networks attached to the WBS?
Do they have any activities with planned costs?
    Check report S_ALR_87013533 - Plan/Actual/Commitment/Rem.Plan/Assigned.
If you see values in the 'RemOrdPlan' column, then your networks are being treated as commitments.

    2)  BW Version --> 3.5
    3)  SAP Basis --- > 6.4
    4)  No of Application servers currently having --> Only  One  Server
Can any body suggest me how to solve this.....
    Thanks in Advance..
    Kasi Chukka

    Hi Kasi,
Your question is not very clear, from the looks of it, the load on your client's system will be doubling soon.
You need to look at the system stats on how the system is handling the current load, use transactions ST06, ST04 and ST02 to check if the DB hit ratios are as expected, the cpu idle time, the busy periods. Identify if there is large amounts of paging on the server(candidate for increase in real memory).
On AIX level, you will need to look at CPU / Memory usage.
On SAP Application server, you need to look at SAP Buffers.
On Oracle end, look at SGA stats, if it need to increase, the data growth that is current and estimated growth (DB02).
You will not get an exact answer to it, you will need to analyze the existing load and then estimate (guess). The hardware upgrade will also depend on what the client is willing to spend, its always a good practise to add 20% to what you have estimated as these figures are never accurate.
    All the best.
    Cheers,
    Nisch

  • TMS help

    Hi,
I have two r3 systems running on two different servers but they share the same network.I am trying to configure (Two system landsacpe ie,DEV--> PROD tms configuration).Having said that, i followed the guide lines from help.sap.com to configure..but some where i got lost and this configuration is not working...
Can you give me step by step guidelines with example to configure the two way system?
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi Rama,
The answers to your question are:
1,I created PROD domain as "external system"..is this correct?
No it is not. You simply dont need to do so. You need only one domain which will reside on domain controller. Basically you have to make production system part of the existing domain.
2.How do i have common TRANS_DIR so that for both systems export/import can happend?
This is achieved through sharing. Check with OS level network admins. For Unix make use of NFS where the transport directory will be mounted on systems where it actually doesnot reside. So if your transport directory resides in DEV it has to be mounted on PROD.Windows makesuse of NT share. Check out this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/de/6b0da5f34d11d3a6510000e835363f/content.htm
3.How do i define the PROD domain with RFC connection or user name and client numbers ..so that import process can pick up these information..
The RFC destination is auto-confured by SAP.You dont need to create it explicitily.
Now the important part. A useful document. Please check this link:
    http://www.basisconsultant.com/docs/handbooks/tmsconf.pdf
Go through it throughly. it will help you. Also I always woudll recommend reading and re-reading SAP help. Nothing beats it.
Please award points for useful information.

  • Edit Leading role in Project

    Hi All,
I had performed the Basic configuration in solution manager.Unfortunately for development system I had selected the leading role of the system as production.I want to change it to development. Is there any way I can change that?
Also If the Leading role for solman is set as production. Can I add my development and QA system to it?
Thanks for your help in advance!!
    Regards!!
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
Not to worry, you can change the leading role for your system.
To change the system role to any other that is relevant in your landscape:
Go to transaction SOLAR01 > Click on the first level of the Project Name (Under Business Blueprint Structure) to select the Project.
Click Business Blueprint in the Menu > System Role > Choose the relevant System Role (in your case Development)
    Click Copy
This should replicate to all nodes and then you should be able to assign transaction to the business processes.
If not, there is a similar work around which also works.
    Go to transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN
    System Landsacpe Tab
    Systems subtab
    Click System Role Assignment
Remove the Production System (or all those not relevant to your Project and Logical Components)
    Save Project
Go to SOLAR01 and it should reflect it in the Blueprint.
You can always go back to this and add the System Roles you removed and the Blueprint will reference the correct Role.
You can also add any other Dev/QA systems to the logical component as required.
    Hope this helps,
    -Rohan

  • Service Desk (Configuration in R3 systems) [Number Range Issue]

    Hi,
I am using Sol Man 3.2 version.
I have established the RFC connection between Sol Man and R3.
When I create a Support Message from R3 system, I am getting the below error
“<b><i>Error in Local Message System: For object DNO_NOTIF , number range interval 03 do Message was Not Created</i></b>”.
This is a case where there is a mismatch between the number range.
<b>Is there any setting I have to do in the R3 system to enable the correct number range.?</b>
Because, when I login to my Sol Man system and create a support message, I am able to create the support Message and I can see the message in Transaction Monitor.
I am unable to create support Message from R3 system.
    Regards,
    Vikas

    Dear Vikas,
Please logon to your R/3 System which is configured in your Solution Manager Landsacpe.
    Follow the below steps now
    1. Run Transaction SM30.
    2. Table Name "BCOS_CUST"
    3. Maintain Entries as shown below ( column info )
        a. Appl - OSS_MSG
        b. + - W
        c. Dest. - SM_<SID>CLNT<Client#>_TRUSTED
        d. + - CUST620
        e. + - 1.0
    4. Save the Entries
    5. Click on Help Menu -> Create Support Message.
Now enter the appropriate information in the message window and click on send button.
Once you will get the notification of support message creation, logon to your solution manager system and run transaction crm_dno_monitor and check the support message.
I hope this info will help you to create message from your R/3 system to solution manager.
    Thanks,

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Satya,
Thank you for the reply. QA in our landsacpe was in use since 2008. Serveral times system refresh is carried out on our QA with production data but never came accross this issue.
Usually if the SAPINST.exe run is successfull, temperory licence will be installed and we will be allowed to login into the sytem with our user names normally and carry out post installation steps.
As the SAPISNT.exe is being terminated, temperory license is not being installed and we got to work around by including parameter to allow default sap* userid and password to login and install license and carry on with the post installation steps. To be frank this issue is not really a show stopper, but there seems to be an issue that is to be resolved.
    Thank you,
    Kind Regards,
    Bharani.

  • Unable to configure B1i  Landsacpe......

    Hi,
I am unable to feed parameters to B1i Landsacpe.
Is there any Snapshot OR Screen by screen way of configuration ?
Can any one is able to provide me all parameters for B1i landscape ?
    Regards

    Makarand,
I am not sure what you mean by "you cannot feed parameters to the B1i Landscape".  Can you explain what you mean by that?
With respect to the parameters, these are outlined in the Config_Guide_System_Landscape.pdf that comes with the B1i product and specifically the "Content" portion of the B1i installation.  You should review this documentation as it will you give you explanation on what the parameters in the Landscape are and what values you will need to enter.  Since the R/3 system and Business One system are specific you your environment, you will have to find and substitute some values with the specific values from your environment.

    Eddy
