Systemd and netcfg menu

I am experiencing problem that after switching completely to systemd netcfg service is no longer presenting menu to select network profile.
in other words:
when /etc/conf.d/netcfg contains
NETWORKS=(menu)
profile named main is started (wired dhcp) but no dialog menu is presented and I have no possibility to choose profile I want.
Does anyone see same problem? Did I missed anything?

Yes, so you got your answer: This cannot work with systemd. (This is not entirely true, but implementing a clean solution that supports systemd is overkill for this use case.)
My take on choosing profiles on boot:
If you use a wired connection, you should rely on the site's DHCP server to handle your connection properly (after all, it works for all Mac and Windows users, and for most other Linux users).
If you use a wireless connection, net-auto-wireless is capable of automatically selecting the correct profile for you, no manual intervention required.

  • Systemd and Netcfg

    I am using Arch linux with systemd.
    All packages are recent.
    And I encountered the following behavour when configuring network:
    netcfg.service starts before network interfaces appear in the system (modules are not yet loaded), so I get the following error in syslog:
    netcfg-daemon[463]: :: mgmt up Interface eth0 does not exist
    netcfg-daemon[463]: [fail]
    So I added the following line to "Unit" to /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/netcfg.service:
    [Unit]
    After=sys-class-net-eth0.device
    But it didn't help - the netcfg-daemon still starts before the symlink /sys/calss/net/eth0 appears.
    Please advise - what can be done to fix the problem with network configuration?

    Another suggestion is to put a timeout in netcfg when it's checking the existence of the interface (ex. 'eth0'). Netcfg already does that while waiting for the LINK UP and CARRIER flags right after doing a 'ip link set dev "$INTERFACE" up'.
    In the /usr/lib/network/connections/ethernet script of netcfg, it assumes $INTERFACE (ex. 'eth0') is already existing, or else it will fail.  I commented the code below #### where the updated code should be placed. There's an example timeout_wait() near the bottom when it waits for 5 secs for the CARRIER signal.
    /usr/lib/network/connections/ethernet (part of netcfg).
    ethernet_up() {
    load_profile "$1"
    SYSCTL_INTERFACE="${INTERFACE/.//}"
    #### As implemented now is_interface() exits on error when /sys/class/net/$INTERFACE doesn't exist yet.
    #### Insert a timeout_wait here (30 sec max?) so netcfg can wait for /sys/class/net/eth0 to show up before failing:
    if ! is_interface "$INTERFACE"; then
    report_iproute "Interface $INTERFACE does not exist"
    fi
    # Disable IPv6 before bringing the interface up to prevent SLAAC
    if [[ "$IP6" == "no" ]]; then
    sysctl -q -w "net.ipv6.conf.$SYSCTL_INTERFACE.disable_ipv6=1"
    fi
    report_debug ethernet_up bring_interface up "$INTERFACE"
    bring_interface up "$INTERFACE"
    if ! checkyesno "${SKIPNOCARRIER:-no}"; then
    # Some cards are plain slow to come up. Don't fail immediately.
    if ! timeout_wait "${CARRIER_TIMEOUT:-5}" '(( $(< "/sys/class/net/$INTERFACE/carrier") ))'; then
    report_iproute "No connection"
    fi
    fi
    The is_interface() funtions is in /usr/lib/network/network (also part of netcfg).
    /usr/lib/network/network (part of netcfg).
    is_interface() {
    local INTERFACE="$1"
    if [[ ! -e "/sys/class/net/$INTERFACE" ]]; then
    if ! echo "$INTERFACE" | grep -F -q ":"; then
    return 1
    fi
    fi
    return 0
    The timeout_wait() function is in /usr/lib/network/globals (also part of netcfg).
    /usr/lib/network/globals (part of netcfg).
    ## Waits until a statement succeeds or a timeout occurs
    # $1: timeout in seconds
    # $2...: condition command
    function timeout_wait() {
    local timeout="$1"
    (( timeout *= 10 ))
    shift
    while ! eval "$*"; do
    (( timeout-- > 0 )) || return 1
    sleep 0.1
    done
    return 0
    This would be a viable solution until the systemd device dependencies are worked out. I'm not a confident bash coder so I leave others to work this out. Probably takes 2 min for the experienced ones.

  • Systemd and systemd-logind crash due to failed assertion

    Hi,
    my system is currently only semi-usable because systemd *and* systemd-logind seem to be aborting due to a failed assertion. All systemd- and socket-related programs do not work. There are many zombie processes. These problems started after a reboot. (To be precise, the system hung up probably because of some graphics driver/mesa-related bug and I pushed the reset button.)
    I previously had testing and community-testing enabled, but disabling them did not fix the issue. Also, I was running a custom 3.17 kernel before the reboot but the normal 3.16.4, the testing 3.17.1 and the linux-ck-ivybridge 3.16.6 (from repo-ck) kernels also don't work.
    /usr is not on a seperate partition.
    One bug should have been fixed upstream (here) and the other "disappeared" (there).
    Pacman logs are cluttered with my attempts to fix the problem by reinstalling some packages (systemd, dbus, linux) so I didn't include them, but nothing important was upgraded right before the problem appeared.
    The relevant log lines in short:
    systemd[1]: Assertion 'a >= 0 && a < _JOB_TYPE_MAX_MERGING' failed at src/core/job.c:314, function job_type_lookup_merge(). Aborting.

    I worked around the issue myself by manually commenting the offending assertions out in src/core/job.c, so this is an upstream bug. I will report it at the systemd bug tracker.

  • [Fixed...] wpa_supplicant and netcfg stopped working since updates

    Hello, I am new to the forums and have run into a problem with wpa_supplicant and netcfg (though I believe the problem resides with wpa_supplicant).
    A bit about me - This is my first "intermediate" linux distro (I tried fedora back when it was version 6 but didn't get terribly far with it). I have mostly been using Ubuntu (because it is out of the box and easy), but I ran out of use for an old laptop I had around and chose to install a minimalist distro on it (hence arch). The learning curve was a bit steep, but it is intersting and makes for a nice learning experience at the very least.
    The problem:
    I updated my system (which I do each time there is an available update on linux because it normally fixes things) on the 11th and everything was working great. However, my ip lease expired over the weekend (apparently) and as I am mostly a windows user (sorry, but it is true) I didn't notice it until today (when I went to check pacman for any updates and no longer had an internet connection).
    It appears that the last round of updates I installed included updates for wpa_supplicant in them and changed the way things are supposed to be done in the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file. It looked like so beforehand (and still does though I have attempted to rewrite with the new format - sadly that hasn't worked out and I am here as a result):
    network={
    ssid="zelda"
    psk=<... long key here> # note - Like I said, this was working before, I removed the key on purpose.
    ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=wheel
    And here is what I have attempted with my new wpa_supplicant.conf file:
    network={
    ssid="zelda"
    psk=<... long key here>
    scan_ssid=1
    priority=1
    ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=wheel
    Here are the steps I am taking to attempt and access the internet (manually):
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
    sudo wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    <wait a bit>
    sudo dhcpcd wlan0
    dhcpcd[2281]: version 5.2.12 starting
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: rebinding lease of <IP>
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier lost
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier acquited
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: rebinding lease of <IP>
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: boradcasting for a lease
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier lost
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier acquired
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: rebinding lease of <IP>
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: broadcasting for a lease
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier lost
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: carrier acquired
    dhcpcd[2281]: wlan0: rebinding lease for <IP>
    dhcpcd[2281]: timed out
    And if I attempt to use netcfg (in code because it uses spaces):
    sudo netcfg zelda

    Here is my /etc/network.d/zelda file (like I said, this used to work. I haven't modified this file though):
    CONNECTION='wireless'
    DESCRIPTION='Home network'
    INTERFACE='wlan0'
    SECURITY='wpa-config'
    WPA_CONF='/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf'
    IP='dhcp'
    Any help would be appreciated.
    <edit>
    Well, this is what I like to see. Apparently it wasn't as difficult as I was making it out to be, and the second wpa_supplicant.conf file I posted (the new one) works. I just had to do a reboot for it to notice the changes (though this does lead me to wonder if a daemon caches the wpa_supplicant entries...). It is all working now.

    Solution: install the "dialog" package (pacman -S dialog).

  • Systemd and bootchart

    Greetings,
    I'm using systemd as default init system and before I'm buying a solid state disk, I want to know some information about the boot time with my hdd, so I installed bootchart from the AUR. The wiki says, I should add init=/bin/bootchartd to the kernel line of the menu.lst grub file. But because I'm already using systemd, the kernel line has already init=/bin/systemd at its end. Is it possible to use both systemd and bootchart? I know there's also another way (putting it into /etc/rc.sysinit), but I would like to prevent that, because the wiki disadvises to do it.
    Regards,
      Nils

    If you look through the systemd thread here, there are instructions. Basically, install bootchart2 and enable its service, if I remember correctly.

  • Wpa_supplicant and netcfg

    Hi, I just reinstalled Archlinux x86_64 on a new SSD I got. I was setting up the internet connection during installation and I used netcfg.
    I create a file using the examples depending on what I need and place it in : /etc/network.d/
    Then I use netcfg-menu to connect to the netowork.
    My problem is I tried doing this again and I get  : Please install 'dialog' to use netcfg-menu
    In the beginner guide, I see that you can modify wpa_supplicant to connect to internet, I was wondering if it's just another way of doing it? or are these two working together?
    I read the manual on both but it didn't answer my question. I tried to configure my wpa_supplicant but it didn't work, I think because my network is hidden. Then I tried to edit the wpa_supplicant file for hidden network using ssid=1 (if i remember well, I used what was in the man) and it didn't work.

    Hello,
    I recently have installed systemd and I have enabled slim.service, but after logging in throught slim I cannot run any programs in my awesome wm. Well, actually I can, but only a few seconds after login. If I run xterm and then try to run a program throught it I get messages "no protocol specified" and "cannot open display :0.0". If I quit awesome/X and login again(without reboot) all works just fine. Could you please help me to solve this problem? Thank you in advance.

    Okay, it is working fine now I have uninstalled initscripts and installed sysvcompat.
    NOTE: before uninstalling initscripts and sysvinit, reboot your computer with init=/bin/systemd in your kernel cmdline, because you will not be able to shutdown properly due to the lack of inittab.

  • [SOLVED]systemd and make a camera visible GUI-wise in your filemanager

    After reading a lot about systemd in the wiki and in this forum I understand there are different opionons about systemd. Anyway, I have a adapted all the changes to rc.conf leaving out only a few daemons to start there. So why not give systemd a try? If you dont want to read the full posting I finally got it to work, basically by reading carefully and checking the suggested tests in the systemd wiki. (loginctl)
    As suggested by the wiki, I tried the systemd yesterday. Enabled via systemctl some services to "replace" my rc.conf daemons. I got what I thought everything to work, including autologin directly to my Xfce4 desktop. Everything except the digital camera.
    When starting Arch traditionally via initscripts I immediately can see the camera in the filemanager (Nautilus) when the camera is attached via USB.
    Some minutes later, after adding "init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd" to the APPEND line in Syslinux and rebooting, my machine reboots
    fine.But when connecting the camera again it is not visible graphically.
    The camera is there because when using gphoto2 (the commandline) as root I can transfer pictures etc.
    Even if I am no happy CLI user I can handle it when necessary. Handling pictures a graphical view of them is much easier...
    As the wiki about systemd says one can try it out. I have not removed anything from the system and when starting Arch again, the initscript way, I can see the camera again in my filemanager, gthumb works again and pictures can be transferred to my machine.
    In the wiki again, this time about digital cameras
    Permission issues
    Camera devices should be granted permission using ACLs. For this to work, users need to have consolekit or systemd running and the user session must be registered with them accordingly.
    Check this using /usr/bin/ck-list-sessions to verify a value of "TRUE" should be returned for both the "active" and "is-local" fields:
    $ ck-list-sessions | grep TRUE
    active = TRUE
    is-local = TRUE
    ACL=Atlantic Container Line is what first comes into my mind. I have had some connections to transport business...I admit I had to google it to find the correct interpretation of this mumbo-jumbo.
    The wiki also gives a "hint", if this is not working try to use the obsolete camera group and edit some udev rules.
    Should not be necessary when it has worked before systemd and earlier experiences
    But what is this about "Permission issues"?  Here is my listings relative the wiki hints. All seems OK.. or why the heck are there two sessions??
    [leif@krasaki ~]$ ck-list-sessions | grep TRUE
    is-local = TRUE
    active = TRUE
    is-local = TRUE
    [leif@krasaki ~]$ ck-list-sessions
    Session1:
    unix-user = '1000'
    realname = '(null)'
    seat = 'Seat1'
    session-type = ''
    active = FALSE
    x11-display = ''
    x11-display-device = ''
    display-device = '/dev/tty1'
    remote-host-name = ''
    is-local = TRUE
    on-since = '2012-10-24T07:12:56.499847Z'
    login-session-id = '1'
    idle-since-hint = '2012-10-24T07:13:26.994037Z'
    Session2:
    unix-user = '1000'
    realname = '(null)'
    seat = 'Seat1'
    session-type = ''
    active = TRUE
    x11-display = ':0'
    x11-display-device = '/dev/tty7'
    display-device = '/dev/tty1'
    remote-host-name = ''
    is-local = TRUE
    on-since = '2012-10-24T07:13:02.361157Z'
    login-session-id = '1'
    [leif@krasaki ~]$
    As one can see, the ACTIVE values are here as the wiki says. But no camera. Those values are the same, wheter which way the machine is started. But 2 sessions??
    Further reading in the systemd wiki article and consolekit vs systemd.logind gives a clue.
    From the wiki:
    In order to check the status of your user session, you can use loginctl. To see if your user session is properly set up, check if the following command contains Active=yes. All polkit actions like suspending the system or mounting external drives with Udisks should then work automatically.
    So when started via systemd and running logintctl, it gives this surprising result. Does not matter wheter as normal user, nor as root....
    [leif@krasaki ~]$ loginctl
    SESSION UID USER SEAT
    1 1000 leif seat0
    1 sessions listed.
    [leif@krasaki ~]$ loginctl show-session 1
    Id=1
    Timestamp=Wed, 24 Oct 2012 10:57:03 +0200
    TimestampMonotonic=20040019
    DefaultControlGroup=name=systemd:/user/leif/1
    VTNr=1
    TTY=tty1
    Remote=no
    Service=login
    Leader=315
    Audit=1
    Type=tty
    Class=user
    Active=no
    State=online
    KillProcesses=no
    IdleHint=yes
    IdleSinceHint=1351069009642296
    IdleSinceHintMonotonic=6664433
    Name=leif
    [leif@krasaki ~]$
    Surprising? Should it not have been Active=Yes? So something is wrong in my settings although it had worked "before" starting using systemd..
    OK, so far. Lost? Not yet. Double check again everything and I found the culprit, my  ~/.bash_profile which had worked before seemed a bit different to what is suggested in the wiki. The old one, actually started 2 sessions, as also could be seen here above checking ck-list-sessions. That was the problem
    Using a fresh edited ~/.bash_profile as suggested here, the camera is visible graphically
    Finally, just for fun, start again the old initscipt way. Enabling daemon and so on. Still 2 sessions going on....Here it was the "/.xinitrc, which also had some old fashions and I removed the ck-launch-session from the exec line. So even here, now only 1 session..
    Anyway, now the camera is visible, both starting with initscripts, naturally also some daemons active in rc.conf and by starting with systemd.
    I rest my case and it seems systemd works with everything on my machine which is just a normal desktop used by an old man.
    Thanks for reading...

    Solved now! Boot times are as fast as posssible on my HDD I think. Only thing after uninstalling initscripst and initscripts-systemd was that locale was not set inspite of a correct /etc/locale.conf. I had to make /etc/profile.d/locale.sh with this content;
    if [ -s /etc/locale.conf ]; then
    . /etc/locale.conf
    fi
    export LANG LANGUAGE LC_CTYPE LC_NUMERIC LC_TIME LC_COLLATE
    export LC_MONETARY LC_MESSAGES LC_PAPER LC_NAME LC_ADDRESS
    export LC_TELEPHONE LC_MEASUREMENT LC_IDENTIFICATION

  • How To Change Hyperlinks And Nav Menu Colors

    I continue to see people stating that it's impossible to change hyperlink colors and navigation menu colors until after you publish your site. This is not true. It's quite easy to update your templates with the colors YOU want and when you update the template, you never have to mess with any post-processing. You make a new page? Your colors are already there.
    I've gone over this before in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3288533&#3288533
    But I'll go over the quick and dirty version here as well. Those who want more detail can post a question and I'll elaborate.
    First, do you know how to get into iWeb's inner folders? You right click or control click on your iWeb icon and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu.
    Step 2
    Once you've done that, you'll see a new Finder window that shows a folder called Contents. Open that and then open the next folder Resources. Within Resources there's a folder named Shared. Open the Shared folder.
    You're now looking at your collection of iWeb template files. You'll notice that each template has seven individual page files - each file defines the layout and styles for the page for which its named. This is actually one of the two places where you'll find the data/images that make up your iWeb pages. This location only contains the images. Now I'll show you were to find the data file.
    So you're currently here:
    /Applications/iWeb/Contents/Resources/Shared/
    You want to go here:
    /Applications/iWeb/Contents/Resources/English.lproj
    Now if you speak another language and your Mac's system language is set to the language you speak, substitue English with that language. If your system is set to English regardless of the language you speak, and you use the English templates, then stick with the English folder.
    When you're in the English.lproj folder, you will see seven sub-folders and one file named TemplatesInfo.plist. TemplatesInfo.plist is the file that registers the templates and tells iWeb what you've got in your collection. But we don't care about that file for now. We're after the template data files.
    The seven sub-folders are aptly named for each of the seven page-types as you can see. Open the About Me folder.
    Now you will see an "about me.webtemplate" file for every template you have in your collection. Good job. You've learned something new. Move on to Step 3.
    Step 3
    If you haven't decided yet, now's the time to decide which template you'd like to update. If you're just along for the ride to learn something new, no worries. We won't do anything you can't undo.
    Pick a template file now. Perhaps you chose the White template, or:
    White About Me.webtemplate
    Right click or control click on this file and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu. This will launch a new Finder window that displays the contents of the White About Me.webtemplate file.
    You will likely see a handful of different files, but the file you want is the one named Index.xml.gz.
    Index.xml.gz is the brain behind the template. Within this file are all the settings for the page you chose and it's really not hard to find what you want and change it. So let's take a peek.
    Step 4
    Double-click the file Index.xml.gz. This will reveal a new file named Index.xml. You might have to scroll down in your Finder window to see it. Rename Index.xml.gz to Index.xml.gz.backup in case you screw things up, you have your original.
    Now, open Index.xml with TextEdit. Do not open the file with a code editor unless you have already formatted the file.
    When the file opens, you'll notice it's one gigantic jumbled mess of stuff. No worries, we'll straighten that out. All you need to do is a find/replace.
    Find all instances of: ><
    And replace with:
    <
    The line break is important so maybe just copy the lines right out of this post. When you replace all of those, the file will be far more easy to view.
    Assuming you've completed that step. You're basically ready to make your change and test it out! Not hard ey?
    So let's say you want to change your hyperlink color from grey to blue. Search for this string:
    BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier0
    When you find that string, you will see a few lines below it, two lines that look similar to this:
    <sf:fontColor>
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r=".8" sfa:g="1" sfa:b="0.4" sfa:a="1"/>
    This is how the template specifies color. It's RGB100. Your Mac came with a program called Art Director's Took Kit and that application can tell you the RGB100 values for any color you want. Tinker with that and you'll have a lot of fun with this.
    So I picked out a nice royal blue for you. The RGB100 values for it are:
    R:0 G:25 B:100
    What you need to do is update the color line to match those values:
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r="0" sfa:g=".25" sfa:b="1" sfa:a="1"/>
    Notice that you specify these in terms of a percentage, where 25 became .25 and 100 became 1.
    Step 5
    Save your file. It's time to see your work in action. Open iWeb if it isn't open already and create a new page using the template you've just altered. If you altered the White About Me page, then select that and create the new page.
    It there are hyperlinks already on this page, you should already see that they reflect your new color. If there aren't any hyperlinks, then type some text and create one. You should see your new link color right away!
    Now if you don't see the new color, either you picked the wrong page or you neglected to rename the Index.xml.gz file a few steps back. If you did not rename that file, then it's still in control of your template. Rename it now and try again.
    If you don't like that color, simply swap back to the TextEdit page and change it until you like it - switching back and forth between the file and iWeb to view your changes. Once you're happy, make note of the color you chose and make the change for the remaining six pages in the tempalte you selected. Just be sure to follow the steps for each page you edit. If you fail to see your change, again, check to see that you renamed Index.xml.gz.
    Side Notes
    For the more technical, rather than editing an existing template, you might want to duplicate and rename a template. This essentially creates a brand new one. If you're pretty good within Finder then go for it, just be sure that you duplicate the files in both locations:
    /Applications/iWeb/Contents/Resources/Shared/
    /Applications/iWeb/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/...
    Choose a unique name for the duplicated template and change every single file so that the new name replaces the old one. You would have to register this new template in the TemplatesInfo.plist file as well, but I'm not going to get into that here.
    The thread I referenced at the top has all kinds of search terms to find the other hyperlink styles (rollover and visited) and all the navigation menu styles plus a bunch of other fun stuff.
    Now, it seems long, but that's because I wrote it well. The shortest version of this I've ever written was two sentences, but that was for a UNIX geek and he got it. It's just as easy for you, but I write it out so that anyone can do this, because anyone can. It's just not hard.
    If you have questions about any of the steps, go ahead and ask.

    Good. Okay here's how to apply a background color to your nav bar buttons. For example, my Aerolite template sets the selected page to a black background color. The rollover effect uses a gradient fill. I'll describe both of those here.
    First, here are the navigation menu search terms:
    navbaritem-style-normal-default
    navbaritem-style-rollover-default
    navbaritem-style-selected-default
    navbar-pargraph
    The first three set the button effects and text colors. The last one there sets the font, font size and other paragraph styles.
    To change the selected page button background color, or gradient or image, first search for it using the search term above. Start from the top of the file because there are two instances of those terms, one where you can set the values, the other is only reference to the first and does not allow you to change settings.
    When you find the search term, you might want to insert an empty line above it to help separate it from the rest of the code. You can also insert an empty line below the section. The end of this style ends with:
    </sf:navbar-item-style>
    Be careful not to mix that up with </sf:navbaritem-character-style>
    Now, within this section, you'll find all kinds of settings... stroke, fill, character styles, etc. Notice you can change font color in there. But for this demo, you want to find the section that looks like this:
    <sf:fill>
    <sf:null/>
    </sf:fill>
    I'm assuming you're editing an Apple template that does not already have a fill effect. If it does have one, then your example might not look exactly like that.
    To apply a color fill, change those three lines to these lines:
    <sf:fill>
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r="0" sfa:g="0" sfa:b="0" sfa:a="1"/>
    </sf:fill>
    You can see that we've inserted the line that specifies color - something you should be familiar with by now. Here you can specify the color that will become the background of your nav bar button. This example specifies black. Easy no?
    If you would prefer a gradient fill, then replace those three lines with this:
    <sf:fill>
    <sf:angle-gradient sfa:ID="SFRAngleGradient-1111" sf:opacity="1" sf:type="linear" sf:angle="0">
    <sf:stops sfa:ID="NSMutableArray-1111">
    <sf:gradient-stop sfa:ID="SFRGradientStop-1111" sf:fraction="0">
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r="0.40" sfa:g="0.40" sfa:b="0.30" sfa:a="1"/>
    </sf:gradient-stop>
    <sf:gradient-stop sfa:ID="SFRGradientStop-2222" sf:fraction="1">
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r="0.64" sfa:g="0.66" sfa:b="0.54" sfa:a="1"/>
    </sf:gradient-stop>
    </sf:stops>
    </sf:angle-gradient>
    </sf:fill>
    Now, don't panic Here's what this is. The first line allows you to specify the angle of your gradient. Play with the numbers from 0 to 359 until you have what makes sense for your design.
    Then, you will see two familiar lines again - the lines that allow you to specify color! The first line is the first color of your gradient and the second color is the second color of your gradient. That's all there is to it!
    SECRET: It might be possible to add additional colors, not just two. Do you see the part sf:fraction="0" and sf:fraction="1"? These are gradient stops. I'm willing to bet that if you inserted a thrid gradient stop with a fraction setting of .5, you'd have a three-color gradient!
    <sf:gradient-stop sfa:ID="SFRGradientStop-3333" sf:fraction=".5">
    <sf:color xsi:type="sfa:calibrated-rgb-color-type" sfa:r="0" sfa:g="0.25" sfa:b="4" sfa:a="1"/>
    </sf:gradient-stop>
    I have never tried this - it just occurred to me as I was looking at this code. Big prize for the first person to prove the theory
    NOTE: You will notice that the number 1111 and 2222 are within this code. iWeb XML relies on identification tags here and there. It's nothing you really have to care about except if you insert gradient fills in more than one area. Those numbers need to be unique so if you paste that code in for your selected page button and then paste it again for your rollover buttons, you'll need to update the numbers for the second button. Any numbers are fine. Use 3333 and 4444 for the second set, 5555 and 6666 for the thrid and so on. I often just type 4345781476 - doesn't matter.
    Next lesson will be images.

    How do i drag media to the menu screens in premiere elements 13? I can't see my audio files and the menu screens at the same time. In prior versions it was easy?
    It is very cumbersome to "re browse" for audio files/pics/movie clips to add to menu screens. Certainly there is a way to view the media and menu screen at the same time so I can drag and drop?

    I think I know exactly what you are seeking and believe it cannot be done in Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 as it can be done in versions earlier than 11 where the Disc Layout and Project Media are viewed side by side.
    Premiere Elements 13 uses a Movie Menu customization workspace which is not allowing viewing of Project Assets in the Expert workspace at the same time.

  • I accidently unmarked the book marks tool bar, the tool bar and the menu bar how do i get them back ?becaus now only the tabs are visible and i cant access my features or book marks

    i was getting to know my firefox so i accidentally unmarked the menu bar the book marks tool bar and the tool bar. so now only my tabs are visible and i cant get to any of my add-ons or extensions.
    and even surfing the net has become difficult cause there is almost nothing i can do with a new empty tab.
    how can i get these bars back. i tried taking the cursor up to the thin line above the tabs and the window border but the menu to mark the above mentioned features does not appear any more.
    i tried restarting firefox several times but it didn't work. i even uninstalled and completely downloaded a new version of firefox and installed it but the problem still persists.
    i am operations system is windows XP.

    Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
    Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
    The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

  • Mac Mini desktop folders/icons and top menu blinking on and off

    Hello. I've just returned to my Mac Mini after being away for a few days. Upon booting and having the desktop fully load, I have been experiencing all folders/icons and top menu bar blinking on and off every ten seconds. I have only opened Fire Fox to try and diagnose why this is happening. No solution yet.
    I am running Snowleopard with Mavericks and I'm aware Mavericks is a little buggy at the moment (beach ball used to blink on and off every now and again and performance has gotten slow) I only have the HDD replaced last week as the last one failed. I really need to fix this problem soon as I rely on my Mac to work from home.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    I have sovled the problem! for now at least. I came across another users suggestion to dissable "sync status icons" in google drive as it confics with the finder in Mavericks. I guess this would only work with others having this problem with Google Drive and Mavericks.

  • I have dual displays.  My dock is on the MBP bottom and the menu bar is on the extended monitors top.

    I have a Dell 2408 acting as the main display and a 15" MBP.  For some reason, today the dock ended up on the MBP screen at the bottom and the menu bar is on the Dell at the top.  I can't seem to move the dock back to the Dell.  Can someone help?  I tried moving the menu bar to the MBP and then back, hoping the dock would follow but no luck.
    Thanks for your help.

    When the dock is defined as on the bottom, it will appear on the screen of the extended desktop that is lowest.
    Move the second monitor where the bottom edges are equal or the Dell is lower and the dock will move there.
