Systemtray gone on Windows when Explorer crashes
HI,
I have an app that uses java.awt.SystemTray. I´m having problems in my Windows machine and noticed that whenever Explorer.exe crashes the icon from my application does not appear anymore, althought it recovers some other icons.
Is this a bug in Java, or I´m I doing something wrong ?
I´ve found this post http://syedgakbar.wordpress.com/2008/07/14/restore-notification-area-icon-after-explorer-crash/ but it relates to Win32 API.
Thanks
I've been known to extend a class or two to give functionality like "isAlive" or "isVisible" or "isResponsive" for cases like this. You may consider doing that. One things I have also found is that almost every problem I have with Windows is different than any problem that I've had before--which makes sense because I usually incorporate ways to avoid the same problems in the future, but MS seems to be determined to find ways of getting me to be more creative.

Windows 7 Explorer Crashes every time. Anyone Help?
Over the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing a very frustrating problem with Windows 7 Explorer. Below is an excerpt of the message from the Event viewer:
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events
cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
Here is an excerpt from Application log in event viewer:

I have found "older" messages that provided fixes ranging from update the nVidia driver to remove registry settings. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could this be some type of Trojan? I have run several scans using Trend Micro Internet
Security pro and shows up nothing.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Hallo Andre
Could you please check this dump. On one PC in domain explorer.exe crashed one or two time in a week. I've done different steps to isolate this problem (Delete and recreate user profile, replace MB and PC, .... ) but without succes.

Windows - file explorer crashes
Hi,
I have windows 8.1 on my laptop. The file explorer suddenly has started crashing when I try to open it. To open specific files, at times I try the search options which helps to open the file explorer. However, when I right click on any file, it again crashes,
putting the system on a hang mode for almost a minute.
Please suggest resolution for this.
Regards,I see an error in event log. Below is the detail

Explorer Crashing in Windows 7
On a fresh install of Windows 7 and then shorty after installing Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7 explorer crashes. Doesn't matter what application I'm using it just crashes. I could be trying to save a file in paint or opening a email to save a attached or just wanting to save a page on the web by going to File-> Save as.
I had the same problem when I tried using the Novell "vista client" on Windows 7. But I intiially thought that was isolated to it being the "vista client". Although the affects were not immediate as they were today when I installed Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7.
Does anyone have any ideas?

We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
remark:
We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
(so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?Did you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
Thanks for this hint!
The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer crashes when plugging or unplugging ipod touch
Seems something is buggy with Itunes 7 or the Ipod Touch itself. This happens to me on 2 different computers, one Dell and one HP so I doubt seriously if it is the computers themselves. All of my drivers on both systems are up to date.
When I plug in the IPOD it will work and sync, however when I unplug it I get a windows explorer crash each time. Needless to say this is irritating as heck.
Anyone else having this problem?
thanks
Redy4itI have the same problem, even when i use the eject button. I hate vista but on my pc i have no choice but to run it. Never had any problems on my Macs. i also get a strange error on work pc running XP. It says at first that it doesn't recognize the device running in compatibility mode but then it switches over and works fine. I tend to blame it on Microsoft crap, maybe they are updating their OSes to mess with Apple products.

CS6 Crashed Windows File Explorer when loading Actions
Had a Tif file open and was trying to load an action set saved from CS5. The Actions File Open dialog box opened then crashed the Windows Explorer (not internet Explorer) and allowed me to cancel the Adobe Actions Open dialog when the explorer restarted (not the computer, just the file explorer).

Windows 8.1 Explorer crashing when .mov files hovered over
I have today (Jan 6, 2015) copied over to my PC some.mov files from my iPhone and as soon as they are hovered over in Explorer, Explorer crashes and so does the software I am trying to import them to. Is there any workaround? Or should I leave things
as they are until Microsoft provide a fix?Hi,
How large are the files you want to copy? What is the result if you copy a smaller file?
When the explorer hangs, please press ctrl-alt-del, then launch the task manager, check if there're any abnormal process which takes up a high CPU\disk\memory.
Meanwhile, please temporarily turn off AV programs cause real-time scan for the files might also cause a crash. please also patch the system with latest Windows Updates and driver updates

When I try to Quit Skype Windows Explorer crashes
With Windos 7 ,,when I try to Quit Skype I get a message that Windows Exploer has stopped working.. and the only way to actually close Skype is trhough the Task manager. any suggestions?
Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder. -
After updating to Windows 8.1, Windows Explorer crashes.
Hello, I have recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. When it finished the install and reboot, it went to my desktop where my background image was gone, Kaspersky Pure 3.0 was gone, and Windows Explorer crashes every time it is opened. The other
two problems are not as big of a problem right now so I searched around for a fix on this issue. I found that some applications, specifically Autodesk, were causing conflicts. I don't have Autodesk but I decided to update everything anyways. I reinstalled
Kaspersky, fully updated it and ran a scan to see if it was a virus, which it is not. I updated AVG 2014 free, Malwarebytes free, and many others. I also ran Windows Update. I ran CCleaner to see if it would fix the problem and it didn't either. I looked at
the error report and saw that it was caused by StackHash_35ff, which through further investigation turned out to be a fancy term for nothing. What is my problem? I really don't want to restore to an older version because I've spent the better part of the day
allowing Windows 8.1 to bother me. Please help because I'm out of ideas and nothing from other responses seemed to be the solution.Okay, so the above worked. I ended the Com Surrogate task, the went into cmd and typed in these two commands;
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Everything seems to be back in order. I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem, seeing as no one else came up with this solution. -
Explorer crashes due VC++ 2010/12 in Windows 7 Ultimate
Nearly 4 weeks before I installed windows 7 Ultimate in my laptop. After a week explorer crashing event occurs when I want to open several applications including event viewer.
It seems as following:
Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4
Faulting module name: MSVCR100.dll, version: 10.0.40219.325, time stamp: 0x4df2bcac
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000003c145
Faulting process id: 0x1be8
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf723c3fbeee54
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\explorer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll
Report Id: 825626cb-de2f-11e3-ab39-0026b904b93e
Also, few events log of my system are here at :
Event Log and Installed VC++.
I also tried to reinstall VC++ 2010/12 several times. One or twice the problem disappears. But after few days/restarts same error happens again.
As a developer I was previously using Visual Studio 2008,2010,2013 in my system since long and it works fine for others also. All VC++ installed by these Visual Studio versions are in image.
Thanks for your help. The module that is causing the crash may be different than the MSVCR100.dll.
What I might suggest, to try to find the root cause of the crash, is to obtain a user mode dump of the crash to get more information on the crash.
You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.
If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as explorerdump.reg) then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the
time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
"DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\
00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?
Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/onedrive/share-file-folder

Internet Explorer Crashing over Windows XP SP2
Hi all,
I have a problem with Internet Explorer 6.0. I've developed a web page that has an applet (without user interface) and an ActiveX developed with C++. My problem is that sometimes when I push a button that invokes an applet method, Internet Explorer crash and a window shows that Internet Explorer has caused a serious error.
I am using JRE 1.5.0_03, Internet Explorer SP2 and Windows Xp Professional SP2.
Can anybody tell me what could be the problem?.
Best Regards.

Windows explorer crashes whenever I right-click mouse on any file.
I have installed iTunes 8.02 with QuickTime 7.5.5 in Windows Vista for my iPhone 3G. However, windows explorer crashes and restarts automatically whenever I try to bring up the context menu by right-clicking my mouse on any file, or I press the button "DEL" on my keyboard.
This problem is gone if I un-install QuickTime 7.5.5. However, iTunes 8.0.2 cannot run without QuickTime.
Any solution for this ridiculous issue? Please help!Hello,
You are correct. It was right where you said it should be. For some reason doing a search does not find it. Anyway, here it is. Thanks.
