T420 w/ Intel graphics no image via displayport

I've just got a T420 and a ThinkVision 24" monitor. If I connect the monitor via displayport (no converters - straight DP-DP cable), windows gives me a "new device" sound and I can see the ThinkVision display in the "screen resolution" and display settings, but I'm unable to get any picture on external monitor.
It just identifies the DP input and it goes straight to "power saving mode".
When i select clone displays, i get 1024x768 resolution on the laptop display and no image on the ext display.
I also used Lenovo sys update, and BIOS and drivers are the newest.

No idea why it shouldn't work then, I always had problem with lenovo graphics driver and window network, both have weird problems once in a while.
I notice that the thinkvision has anlaog input? ie VGA, have you tried that and see if it was driver problem or displayport problem?
suggesion:
a) Have you tried the monitor inf file at http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/79oi26ww.exe  ?
b) And the intel chipset update
c) Also, you can try download from intel their device checker http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect   and perhaps install a non lenovo driver and see if it show the

Imac 27" Intel Core7  CPU 16 Gig RAM. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware diagnostic and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back to Mountain Lion but problem remains. Apple Store can do no more.

I did some more digging, it appears to be a backlight problem only. I can see the screen very dimly if I use a bright flashlight in a very dark room. It also seems to run ok if the brightness is turned down a LOT.
So I'm thinking this is a LED driver board issue or the display itself. I'll open it up and check the connection between the two and see if I can get any more clues. At least I can use it somewhat now by dimming the display significantly...

  • How to save customized skin (via Intel graphics) from session to session

Hi-I'm a novice so hopefully there's an easy resolution. I've customized the Firefox theme using Intel HD graphics "color enhancement." Even though the coloring setting are saved via the Intel card, when I start a new Firefox session the theme reverts to the original shadings. I can change back to my customized theme by opening the Intel Control Center but I'd like to avoid that step.
Is there a way to keep my settings as default without fiddling with css editing which I'm too stupid to do? Thanks for any thoughts

Thanks for responding! It's a trivial issue but with OCD I can spend hour after hour trying to get things as I want them.
I found Flaminglow as a theme that was a bit unique. But I wanted the saturation, contrast, etc. altered, which I did with Intel graphics program that was pre-installed. I can save the color enhancement i.e. "a" scheme, "b", etc. with Intel. But when I restart the pc it reverts to the default colors of Flaminglow and I have to go to the Intel program and enter the saved scheme. I don't want to have to do that each time I turn the PC on. I've included a screenshot of the homepage and one of the Intel control center.
I thought that perhaps a session saving add on may work but just don't know. Make any sense, lol? Thanks

  • Audio will not transmit to TV via Displayport

Please read carefully as I have spent 8 hours on this issue and if you have a simple answer, I have probably already tried it. I want to explain the problem in full detail and get some real tech experts to help. Thank you!! The first thing you need to know about the Lenovo Thinkcentre 6234-A111 is that there is no HDMI output. There is a displayport output. Therefore, I bought this adapter: http://www.walmart.com/ip/V7-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Adapter/29530877 I then ran an HDMI cable to HDMI 1 on my TV. The picture transmits. The audio does not. I have already tried the following common "solution:" 1. Right click audio icon2. select playback devices3. Right click in blank area to make sure that disconnected and disabled devices are showing After performing these steps, there should appear a TV icon called HDMI audio. You should then be able to set this as the default. The problem is that this TV icon does not appear. There is also no option for HDMI audio in the device manager. I have determined that the thinkcentre refuses to recognize that my TV has speakers. It only recognizes my TV as a monitor, which shows up as "generic PnP monitor" under device manager. Please tell me how I can force my computer to recognize the audio device attached via HMDI cable via displayport adapter. Thank you for your help! I am desperate. If this does not work it means time & money wasted.

I am adding to this thread to hopefully help others with the same issue. I found the exact model (M58P) and type (6234) of my PC here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/thinkcentre-m-series-desktops/thinkcentre-m58p/documents/PD000963?tabName=ProductParts. The type of computer (in this case, 6234) is incredibly important because it tells you whether you require an NVIDIA graphics driver, or an AMD Radeon Graphics Driver. In this case, my PC runs on an ATI Radeon HD3470 256M PCIe Graphcis card. This type requires a graphics driver for the HD 3000 series. After much browsing, I found it: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows%207%20-%2032. From what I can tell, my PC does not currently have a Radeon Driver, which is completely bewildering. Windows 7 is supposed to do this stuff for me automatically. Somehow the Intel Chipset is running my integrated graphics card, but not allowing audio through the displayport. I am not home, but I am very excited to try out this Radeon driver tonight. Does anyone know if this can run side-by-side with the Intel G43-G45 chipset (under display adapters in device manager), or will I need to uninstall that chipset before I can run this Radeon Driver?

  • Intel graphics drivers performance improvement

Just a heads up for people looking to get a little more performance from the Intel on CPU graphics...
I noticed that Lenovo has updated the Intel graphics drivers to version 8.15.10.2418: http://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/MIGR-77280.html
My i5 X220 Win 7 x64 machine had 8.15.10.2342 installed, and I decided to go ahead and install the recent update.
After installing this and rebooting, I re-ran the Windows Experience Index assessment and noticed that the Graphics subscore has moved to 6.3 from the prior 5.9. The Gaming graphics subscore remains the same as before at 6.3. I haven't noticed any day to day difference yet, but perhaps others will.
Note that this update isn't showing up in Lenovo System Update (at least not for me anyway). But you can manually download and install from the link above.

I'm not sure why they would be so different... Are you running on battery? Mine is powered via 65W adapter through UltraSeries 3 base. Mine is a 4286 CTO with i5-2520M (2.5 GHz). I am using UEFI instead of legacy BIOS.
I don't think it should make a difference, but just in case it does, here is more info on my laptop: extra DIMM (3rd party) installed bringing RAM to 8 GB. BIOS 1.20. mSATA SSD (MyDigitalSSD 64 GB) is startup disk, but ProgramData and Users are on 320 GB drive. Both drives use BitLocker drive encryption (via TPM). The system takes a long time to post (at power on and with reboot) due to Lenovo's problems in the firmware. OS is Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The X220 lid is closed. The laptop is connected to a 1920x1200 display via DisplayPort-DVI adapter
After the computer rebooted I waited a few minutes for Windows services to settle down before starting the WEI assessments.

  • Intel graphics (945GM) and Kwin compositing not working.

I've done upgrade few months ago, and ever since then kwin compositing simply refuses to work. I'm currently running Xorg 1.8.1.902, have tried almost everything i could find on this forum (even wen't and rebuiild everything from scratch), but problem still persists.
I'm currently running Xorg without config.

Anyone have some advices on how to solve it, or maybe just some pointers where the problem could lie? I'm starting to run out of ideas.

  • Linux 3.11 breaks triple monitor support on intel graphics

I just ran pacman -Syu, observed linux (3.10.10-1 -> 3.11.1-1), and found that I can no longer use more than 2 monitors simultaneously. When I try to configure 3 or 4 monitors with xrandr or arandr, I get an error message like "xrandr: configure crtc 2 failed".
When I boot with linux-lts 3.10.12, it works reliably again.
I have Intel HD Graphics 4000 on a i5-3320M CPU for a Thinkpad T530 with a ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3.
I have 4 monitors: internal laptop screen, DVI, DisplayPort, and a USB DisplayLink. With linux 3.10, all 4 can work simultaneously. With linux 3.11, any 2 of them can work simultaneously.
In my journalctl at boot time, I see

My symptoms seem similar to Unable to configure 3 display multihead / X fails to start with 3 displays connected, although that was reported on linux 3.4.

Googling around, I found a few more people with what looks like the same problem commenting at the bottom of wrpll sharing not implemented (3x HDMI/DVI screens).
I have Intel graphics card and it supports triple head setup very well. ... I updated kernel to 3.11.1 after it appeared in Archlinux's repo and one of screens stopped working. I tried to fix it with xrandr but I got only "xrandr: Configure crtc failed" errors and these in Xorg.0.log:
I have a similar setup and am experiencing the same thing. Downgrading to 3.10 fixed the issue. I'm also happy to help fix this.
But apparently it's not the correct bug since someone said "if triple display worked and regressed in recent kernels then you have a different bug."
I think I should report this somewhere, but I'm not sure I understand exactly where (linux or xorg or arch?)

  • T520 with Optimus - Can't install Intel Graphics Driver in XP

    Hello,
I have T520 with Optimus FHD screen.
I have XP installed in my Ultrabay HDD.
I understand that XP doesn't support Optimus and that I must go to BIOS and choose either Discrete or Integrated.
OPTION 1 (Discrete Only)  Which someone what works:
    - So, when I have Discrete enabled in BIOS - and installed Nvidia Drivers in XP - everything works fine, expcept on 90% initial boot ups after going from Win 7 to XP (F12 Options) -  I assume the NVIDIA driver doesn't get initially recognised and the XP boots up in non native resolution.
    - It's only after I restart again and use (F12 again) to pick Ultrabay with XP, the Nvidia gets properly loaded. But this time, there is a prolong delay (60 to 90 seconds) of black screen after the WIndows XP Welcome screen before the desktop appears.
OPTION 2 (Intgrated Display Only) - Of couse, this after uninstalling NVIDIA Graphic Driver in XP
    - In BIOS, Integrated Graphic in choosen.
    - XP boots up in basic resolution.
    - I download (From Lenovo T520 Driver Page) - Intel Integrated Driver for Win XP 32.
    - When I try to install it, it says "The computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
    - BTW, I do have all the WIndows Updates including NET 3.0 and higher
    - So then, I try to forcibly installed through Device Manager and Having DISK  - but I get Error message.
    - But somehow, it works after.
One guess I have and that confuses me is the Otimus Graphic Card - where maybe it can only work with either Optimus Drivers in Windows 7 or Nvidia Drivers in Windows XP. And that the Integrated Intel HD Graphic Drivers in for XP on Lenovo website are only meant for T520 with Intel Graphics ??!!
Or can optimus be used with intergrated intel drivers only in the XP?
If anyone can shed a small light, I would be grateful.
    Thanks You
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Glad to know everything is working for you.
You shouldn't need the discrete to watch flash videos, the Intel integrated should be able to handle that on its own.
The nVidia card shouldn't be running at all when the machine is in integrated . In fact it doesn't even run in Optimus except when it is actively being used. nVidia proved this when it was first demoing the technology. nVidia removed the nVidia chip from the motherboard of an active system that was running in Optimus using only the integrated graphics, and the computer kept running without issue and the power consumption was the same with and without the chip on the board.
If you really wanted FireFox to always run with the nVidia card (again, I don't know why you would want this) you can change the settings in the nVidia control panel to force FireFox to run with discrete.

  • DVD player only shows video under Intel graphics

I have a Macbook Pro 15", i7 2.66, and just noticed that Apple's DVD Player app will only show video under Intel graphics. When it's switched to the Nvidia 330M, all I get is a black screen (+ audio).
Oddly, the VLC app works fine, so I'm (sort of) hoping this is a software issue. Anyone else experience this?

Agreed it is a shame. This is the second time to hear of this glitch. I do not know if it constitutes a bug however.
If you want to report it to Apple's engineers, send a bug report via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number thus starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Intel graphics 30 bpp support?

Hi, I am looking into a new monitor and have been searching the web for a while on specs for the Intel Graphics 6000 (on my NUC i5). However I can't find any information on the bit per pixel it supports. The manual for my NUC only says the displayport supports 30 bpp and the hdmi port only support 24 bpp, nothing directly concerning the graphics card. Is it only a driver issue or am I missing something here?
    Christian

And what is the relevance? Do you actually have a monitor that could benefit from the extended 30bit color range? I'm afraid you are asking the wrong question. That said, it is doubtful that the limited power of any intel graphics could support 30bpc and at the same time keep all required accelerated features in PS running...

  • Is Flash CS4 not compatible with Intel Graphics (laptop)? Really?

    Hi!
I'm graphic and animation designer. My company buys CS4 suite
including Photoshop & Flash. And I'm buying a laptop and now
choosing between one having Intel Graphics and another with ATI
Radeon. Intel has some features I need, but after googling, finding
    and reading this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.59b6c473/0
till the end, I see it does not fully support Photoshop
CS4!!! I also need Flash CS4 working, so does it support Flash?
So can you still recommend me buying intel integrated-laptop
or should I take an ATI Radeon powered one? I need Flash working
without annoying compatibilites problems. I don't want to buy an
Intel one, if it is not Photoshop- and Flash- compatible....
    Thank you!

    Anne,

It's important you understand what "fully support" means in
    this
context. According to Eric Palmer's Dec 4 reply (12:11pm),
    Photoshop CS4
does, in fact, run reliably on systems with Intel graphics.
    Eric purports
to be an Intel employee, but obviously there's no proof of
    that.
Regardless, his assertion jibes with with I hear from
    colleagues with Intel
    graphics chips.
It's not as if Photoshop suddenly fails if you happen to
    choose, say,
red from the color swatches. It's not as if Photoshop fails
    to export GIFs
on Intel machines. The only thing you're missing -- and this
    is true for me
too, even though I don't have Intel equipment -- is
    functionality that
relies on OpenGL. One of these features, for example, lets
    you rotate the
canvas while you work on a file. I don't mean rotate the
    image itself ... I
mean rotate the actual work space without resampling the
    image, just as if
you were rotating the piece of paper on which you were
    drawing. Granted,
that sounds like a neat feature (I'd like to experiment with
    it, myself!),
    but it's not a deal-breaker.
As far as I've seen, the Flash CS4 authoring tool doesn't
    rely on any
    OpenGL-accelerated features.

  • Intel Graphics chip question

I've got a MBP with the i7 Processor. 15" model. I also got the upgraded 1680x1050 screen too.
Just tonight, when I turned on my machine it powered up normally, flashed the desktop and then went to a fuzzy/snowy screen. Kinda like snow on an old television set that's not getting a signal but with no movement or flickering. I get the pointer but that's it.
When I restart the machine connected to an external monitor via mini display port, all's fine. When I unplug the external screen it goes back to the same screen issue.
When I restart with external monitor, then turn off the auto graphics switching option in the energy saver system preference panel, all's fine, I can unplug the monitor and use my MBP screen. I can use it with the built in nVidia chip, but not the intel. Any one else have troubles with this?
I just updated the system with the latest software update which had a graphics thing in it, but that did not solve the problem. It seems that my intel graphics chip is dead. Any help or guidance is much appreciated.
    Brent

It is a new Macbook Pro 15" i7. I did a complete reinstall and unfortunately my Time Machine Back up does not have before I installed Air Display. Still does it. Even with the new update.
Also reinstalled Air Display just to try and uninstall it - no luck
Also tried PRAM reset it stays on a blue screen after start up (Apple with spinning wheel).
Still works with Nvida but the moment I switch to Dynamic it goes to that screen. I did a reinstall with out my applications from Time Machine...Intel works. Of course I have to rebuild everything.

  • T500 Intel Graphics Anomalies with a side of BlueTooth

    Greetings,
I have my system configured to use the Intel Integrated graphics (set to internal in the bios to save power) and I am experiencing the following graphical problems.  I am running the latest bios and display driver from Lenovo, as provided by ThinkVantage System Update.  Details of the drivers are in the directx diagnostics below.  I have tried to install the latest Intel graphics driver from Intel's website for this chipset, but it says that my system is not supported (possibly something to do with ATI's Hybrid Graphics).
This does not occur in OpenSUSE 11.2 (even with the 3D Gnome desktop), but it does in Windows x64 with Aero.  It usually occurs after watching SlingBox or NetFlix Instant View, but it has occurred in the past without those activities.
It has not occurred when using the ATI graphics adapter (set to dedicated in the bios), at least from the limited amount that I have made use of it.
    Model:  20828zu
DirectX Diagnostics (full system / driver specs):
    http://home.comcast.net/~quako33/MISC/DxDiag.txt
    Screenshots of the problem:
    http://home.comcast.net/~quako33/Images/gpu_problem1.png
    http://home.comcast.net/~quako33/Images/gpu_problem3.png
Any ideas on how to resolve this without having to switch over to the ATI graphics adapter will be appreciated.
Finally... the bluetooth question... any keystroke to disable only the bluetooth?  When I hit fn+f5, it disables the wifi and the bluetooth.  A way to disable it in OpenSUSE 11.2 Gnome (like I can in Windows) would accomplish the same goal.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's a bug in the drivers. If you have 2+1GB or 2+4GB of RAM memory this will occur. Did you try to disable Aero? It might help. From what I understand the only way to fix this issue is to buy another 2GB module (2+2GB), or wait until a new graphics driver is released.
    Regarding the Bluetooth;
Make sure you have Lenovo Hotkey Installed (If you have ran Lenovo System Update you probably have this installed).
Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY" and open "TpFnF5.exe" and hit the "Settings for Fn + F5" button.
I must admit I didn't really get if you had the Fn + F5 issues in Windows or OpenSUSE, but the behavior for Fn + F5 under Ubuntu 9.10 is:
WLAN/BT/OFF toggle (Fn+F5 press once: Wlan and BT off/Press second time: BT off, Wlan on/Third time: BT on, Wlan off/Press another time: BT and Wlan on)
If that is of any help to you.

  • How to open and validate the tif images via java?

Is it possible to open and validating the photoshop images via java. Kindly advise me.
    Thanks for looking into this.
    Maria Prabudass

I have recently looked at athe code for Image Processor.
To avoid bailing on errors it uses two techniques.
    1) It turns off all PS error reporting in addition to just turning off dialogs with:     app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.NO;  (it restores the original settings when exiting)
    2) It uses the Javascript construct  Try.....Catch around the basic body of the code so "any" error will not abort the script but just jump to the "Catch" code.
    Hope that is useful

  • How can I disable intel graphics? G570

    Hi!
I have a question like in the topic. I have a Lenovo G570 laptop with Intel HD integrated Graphics and AMD HD 6300M dedicated Graphics. I'm running on Win7.
I know that a similar topic was before and that the Intel graphic should switch to amd when necessary but I think it's not working right. The problem is with Skyrim. When I run the game's setup it automatically detects the configuration I possess and chooses the graphic options in the game. As You can imagine they are the lowest possible as it ONLY detects my intel graphic. The AMD adapter is not there (the list which appears to choose from does contain the intel only).
So, is there ANY way to just turn off the intel adapter and work on amd all the time? It would help a lot. I tried that in device manager but when I disable the intel graphics the screen resolution drops rapidly and aero theme from windows is being disabled. It sucks. As if I was forced to use the intel.
Can anyone help? I would sure appreciate that a lot.
    Thanks!
