T61 Power On Password ... can`t reset it

I used to have 2 passwords, one on the hard drive and one for the Power On. But I was never asked about them, every time using the fingerprint. Yesteday I have just re-installed the Windows. I shutted down the laptop and when I need it opened I found that I need to put my passwords. I couldn`t remember the Power On Password.
I searched on the net and found this link
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-59377
Turn off the computer.
Remove the battery pack.
Remove the backup battery.
Turn on the computer and wait until the POST ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The POP has been removed.
Reinstall the backup battery and the battery pack.
I did exactly what they say for reseting the Power On Password. Or maybe I might missunderstand the POST meaning. I thought this means the Icon where I am asked about the Power On Password. Am I right? If not, what does "POST ends" means? Because I am sure that this message for the password won`t dissapear.
Please let me know what should I do in this case.

I'm really sorry,   but we are dealing with the supervisor password, the most secure password on a ThinkPad. The pictures on the site you linked to are unfortunately a little outdated.
You will need to remember this password and delete it in BIOS. The forum rules forbid discussion on this subject. Discussion of the POP, (Power On Password), is permitted as this is openly published for all to see. e.g. the site you linked to.
You may be able to get some assistance from support if you call them.
Unfortunately, in accordance with the rules, I am locking this thread.
I wish you luck and hope you can resolve this.
Regards

    Nope!
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html  Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • T61 power-on password corrupt

    Hi folks,
I have a T61 in the office and I needed to restore it to defaults for use by another user. The computer had a power-on and hard disk password that was the same, set by the previous user. I went into the BIOS with this password and was able to clear the hard disk password. However when I tried to clear the power-on password it said it could not while the supervisor password was set. This was strange to me since all the passwords were the same and it never requested a supervisor password before.
I then proceeded to try to clear the power-on password with the instructions in the ThinkPad T61,
R61, and R61i (14.1-inch widescreen) Hardware Maintenance Manual. This involved disconnecting the main and backup batteries. After this it started up showing two messages, one that the date and time was not set and the second that the BIOS settings were in error and that it was using the default values. I then still got the power-on password prompt however. This time none of the previous passwords I set works! I'm locked out of the machine.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • T61 power on password

I tried to remove my poweron password but it had a supervisor password that I did not know so I removed the backup battery and upon putting it back, the power on password button still comes on and when I put my password it does not recognize the old password anymore
    please can somebody help me

    eafambu, welcome to the forum,
removing the backup battery is the correct proceedure to remove a power on password, as stated in the Hardware Maintainance Manuals and the Lost or forgotten password - ThinkPad General site, you will also see that it is not possible to delete the supervisor passord without knowing it.
You options are to remember the password, find it out if you purchased the system from a previous owner or contact support who will more than likely suggest you replace the mainboard.
    It states in the forum rules;
No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc, nor shall any posts provide descriptions to the location of, nor direct links to content related to these topics.
    Sorry, thread locked.

  • I forgot my password, can I reset or skip it?

I haven't used my Palm for several years and I recently wanted to use it. Unforturnately I forgot the passward. Do you know if there is any way to reset or skip the password? Thank you for your help!
    Post relates to: Palm TX

A password that could easily be bypassed would not be of much value, would it?
Your only choice is to perform a Hard Reset and start over by erasing the device.

    Hi,
Using another PC, download the application on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
    PC Login Now
When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder and double-click the installer - this will result in another file appearing which is the disc image ( .ISO ) that you need to burn to a CD.
You will now need to use an application such as ImgBurn to burn this ISO correctly to a blank CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
Insert the CD into your PC you can't log in to and restart to boot from the disc.
There is a good guide on using this application available Here.

  • Lost SUPERVISOR password - can I reset via the database?

We have lost the password to SUPERVISOR - no other user has supervisor granted to it.
I have read that using the BI_ODI_REPO schema I could change a user and give it Supervisor rights but I only see the SUPERVISOR user there:
    SQL> select WUSER_NAME, AUT_SUPERVISOR from SNP_USER;
    WUSER_NAME
    A
    SUPERVISOR
    1
Can I create a user and give them the priv?
Oracle Data Integrator is 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0) used with Oracle data warehouse Database version 11g ( 11.2.0.2.0).

    Thank you

Thanks for responding. I did raise a call with support on this, who advised the following. I hope this might help others in the future.
    1. Choose a password <YourPassword> for User SUPERVISOR
    2. Go to the ODI_HOME>\bin directory and invoke a command prompt.
    3. Encode the password using the following OS command (for Microsoft Windows).
    agent encode <YourPassword>
    4. Connect to your ODI Master Repository with your favorite SQL editor.
    5. Run the following SQL instruction to update the PASS field :
    UPDATE SNP_USER SET PASS='<Password obtained in step 3>' WHERE WUSER_NAME ='SUPERVISOR' ;
    Commit;

  • My sister forgot her password lock can i reset it

my sister can unlock her ipod because she forgot her password , can i reset it?

    Hello eddy85,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, restore your device.
When iOS Setup Assistant asks to set up your device, choose "Restore from iTunes backup".
Select your device in iTunes and choose the most recent backup of your device.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • How can I reset my iPad that I forgot the password to my linked account.

My iPad is linked to an old gmail account of mine that I believe has been hacked.  I have tried everything to
reset my gmail password and it hasn't worked.  I think someone changed all of my information.  I have
tried to reset my iPad by holding down the home button and power button and connecting to iTunes.  I
did the restore but now it is saying "This iPad is currently linked to an Apple ID. Sign in with the Apple ID
that was used to set up this iPad."  It provides me with the Apple ID: m*****@gmail.com and wants me
to enter the password but I don't know the password and have tried everything to retrieve it.  There's nothing
on the iPad so I don't care about erasing any data.  How can I reset the iPad so that I can use it?  Is there
another method besides the one I have already tried?

If your iPad is running iOS 7, there is no way you're going to be able to regain access to your iPad without the password for the Apple ID used by that iPad. You cannot even restore the iPad to factory settings without the password. This is an anti-theft feature.
You will need to contact Apple and try to regain control of your Apple ID. It is entirely possible, however, for the hacker to make changes to your Apple ID that would make it difficult or impossible to do that. You need to act as quickly as possible!

    Dear ThinkPad fans
Until now, we both know that we can find many ways to pass over and reset Windows Login Screen. So my question is if they can use tools to reset my Windows Login Passwords, can they use reseted pass phrases to discover my CSS data?
Any can clarify to me? Thank a lot.

    How dissable/reset power-on password on ThinkPad W500 ?
    SN: xxxxxxx 09/04
    I try this procedure:
    Turn off the computer.
    Remove the battery pack.
    Remove the backup battery.
Turn on the computer and wait until the POST ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The POP has been removed.
Reinstall the backup battery and the battery pack.
    but power-on password still here
Moderator Note; s/n edited for member's own protection

    Exactly what doesn't work?
from a completely shut down state, not a re-start, press and hold the F1 key while starting the system.  The system should then beep and show the lock symbol with the error codes which mean that the date and time aren't correct, (as a result of the CMOS battery being pulled).
At the lock prompt enter your supervisor password, not the old or new power-on password, set the time and date to the correct values and remove or change the supervisor password as described in the manual.  If you do not know the supervisor password you will need to find it out from the previous owner if there was one; otherwise you will need a new mainboard.
