Table of Contents Pod in Robohelp 8

I am running Robohelp 8 and could be crazy but when I look under View --> Pods, I don't see the TOC pod.  Am I missing something here?

Hi there
Sure would be nice to see it there, as it's talked about as a Pod and all, no?
What you have to do is scan the files and folders inside the Project Manager pod. You see a Table of Contents icon there. When you attempt to edit the TOC, another pod opens and contains the TOC.
Please take a moment to file a Bug Report or Wish Form and ask the development team to add the TOC, Index and See Also pods to the View menu!
Cheers... Rick

  • Robohelp 10 - Table of Contents TOC Column Width

In Robohelp 10, Webhelp output, how do I change the width of the table of contents toc left navigation column? I want the column to be wider so the first toc entry isn't covered by the divider. Thanks.

  • Internet Exploer 11 suddenly isn't showing my Table of Contents or Index for RoboHelp 10 output

I generated a WebHelp project with Adobe RoboHelp 10 last November. I had no problems with the TOC or index. Whenever I try to view output today, IE won't show the left pane with the list of topics in the Table of Contents. It also doesn't show index tags. I have no problem viewing this same output in Mozilla Firefox. I just set Firefox to be my default browser b/c it is so frustrating that I can't immediately view changes to my help project. Has anyone else experienced issues with IE 11? I even cleared cookies and the cache, and I still can't see my TOC and index. This never happened before.

    Hi,
Thanks to the forums I have found useful patches for RoboHelp 10 (sample links are below). I find that even after installing the latest AdobePatchInstaller.exe fix for RoboHelp 10 that I have to overwrite the whutil.js file in my !SSL! WebHelp_PRO output folder every single time I need to check changes in my output in the browser. I just want to confirm that there is no better workaround than manually copying whutil.js every time I generate my output to check it. Thanks.

  • Table of Contents Tab in Pod

I upgraded to RH8 last week. I am working my way through the
new and interesting (sometimes perplexing) features. I have been
unable to find help with this issue by searching the forum.
I prefer to work with the table of contents (TOC) tab always
displayed for a number of reasons that enhance my productivity.
I know how to display the TOC tab., However, each time I
close and reopen the project, the tab is hidden. That is, I have to
display the TOC tab each time I open the project. This adds a
number of clicks to my day.
Is it possible to display the TOC tab automatically (at least
make it available) when the project opens.

Except for some reason, it doesn't load that by default when
    I open RH8. So now I'm confused...
But I'm using the trial version, so maybe the fact that I get
the serial number screen first is somehow causing the default
environment to load instead. The RH8 help says that it will load
whatever environment you were using the last time you closed RH,
which is what I expected. Give what I suggested in my previous post
a try and see if it works.

  • Need help with Table of Content

    Hi,
I have recently started working with Robohelp 7. I just
completed my first project working with the tool. This project has
several Topics, and each topic has sub-topic under them. When I
generated the html files, I had given the Introductory sub-topic as
    the default topic.
Now after the files are generated, I cannot open any other
topic in the table of content until I expand the topic containing
the default sub-topic. This issue is basically with Firefox
browser. It seems to work well with Safari. IE anyways opens the
    folder containing the default topic.
I am not sure if any other user have faced similar problems?
Would like to hear from you guys too.

    Welcome to the forum
Whenever you install new software, check for updates before
    starting work.
Go to Help | Updates and apply both patches.
Regenerate your help and try again. It should be OK.

  • Table of Contents (.hhc) Not displaying in Web browser

    Hi,
I have just upgraded Robohelp Version 7 to 9.0. I have table of contents(.hhc) in the left frame and "Updates_and_Revsions.htm" in the right frame. After my first TOC update in the Robohelp version 9.0, i am not able to see anything in my left frame. It is blank.
After basic research I was able to figure it out that .hhc was converted into XML file. Here is the code (I have long TOC so i am copying only first few). I am using internet explorer 7.0.

  • Can't find the topics from the main table of contents

I need urgent help. I am still running RH 8 for Word (2007). I published the entire project. When testing the main table of contents, the books and topics appear as expected, but when I try to go to any of the topics I get the message:
The topic does not exist. Contact your application vendor....
From the individual projects I can see the topics. When I publish them and view the contents all seem to work fine, but it does not when viewing the entire project from the main table of contents.
The main project looks as follows:

Tried that and still have the problem. The RH help lists the following workaround for the error
    message :
To workaround this WinHelp viewer limitation, you can either manually insert the Help filename statement on every page of the external CNT file or allow RoboHelp to automatically do it for you:
1 Open the Help file containing the included external CNT file.
2 From RoboHelp Explorer’s File menu, select Project Settings.
    3 Select the Contents tab.
4 Select the Include Help filename with pages option. When you save the TOC file, this option automatically places the "@helpfilename.hlp" inside the CNT file on every page.
    5 Click OK.
6 Save the external CNT file.
    7 Recompile the Help project
I went to the main index project which contains the external cnt file and tried to select the contents tab (no such tab in the project settings). Then I went to the actual project, and again, selected Project Settings there is no Contents Tab. Is there any other way to get that contents tab?
This is how my screen looks like:

  • How do I place a remote url in the table of contents?

    Hi,
We were recently customizing icons for our WebHelp output, and in doing so discovered the option to customize an icon for Remote URL. It can be found by navigating to the Skin Editor:
    WebHelp Skin Editor/Navigation/Remote URL
Changing the icon was easy. But I can't figure out how you place such a remote URL so that it appears in the book hierarchy and table of contents? I tried placing it in the HTML Files in the Project Manager pod, but don't see any option to accomplish it that way.
Coudl anyone please share how this is accomplished?
    Thanks in advance,
    Douglas

If you open the TOC pod, there should be a button for adding a new TOC page. In the dialog box that displays, you should be able to set a URL rather than a project topic.

    Amber

  • Linking to PDF Files in the Table of Contents

I know there is a way to link directly to a PDF file from the table of contents, but it is beyond me. Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks, Kathy

    Hi Kathy
It's probably advisable to first add the PDF as a Baggage File. Then when you are creating the TOC entry point, you point at the Baggage File.
If that wasn't what you were hoping to see, you could also do it by simply linking to the PDF as you would a Web Page by specifying the explicit URL that would open the same file if you were doing it using a browser.

  • More than one Table of Contents

Does anyone know if RoboHelp now offers the ability to create
more than one table of contents for a help project?

Leon is right. The "workaround" we have used for years is to
create multiple TOC (projectname.hhc) or Index (.hhk) files and
archive them somewhere for safekeeping. Then use them to overwrite
the existing ones in the project. It works but it's really
inconvenient and you really have to pay attention to an archive
naming scheme because the filenames must be the same as the project
    name.
However, I just noticed that I forgot to report in my Adobe
RoboHelp 7 sneak peek wrap up an even more robust implementation.
BTW, here's the URL Peter mentioned
    http://tinyurl.com/2ldt7e
Not only will you have multiple TOC/Index and Glossary
definitions - you will also have the ability to add a "placeholder"
from one custom TOC to another. It's a reference that can be placed
anywhere in the hierarchy of the TOC. It works in a similar way
that the Merged TOC icon works now. Way cool and takes the TOC
(Index) to another level. They will also play nice with RoboSource
Control if you are using that.
    Thanx,
    john

  • Need to delete or change default table of contents

The default table of contents created when I imported a
FrameMaker book is empty. I reimported the book (using a different
option) and created a new TOC. I want to use this one in my
    project. Some questions:
    1. Can I change the default TOC to be the new (non-empty)
one? If so, how? (Can you refer me to a topic in the RoboHelp
    Documentation?)
    2. Can I delete the default TOC? If so, how? (Can you refer
me to a topic in the RoboHelp Documentation?)
    3. If the answers to the above questions is "no," can I just
ignore the default (empty) one & use the new (nonempty) one
when I generate? If so, how? (Can you refer me to a topic in the
    RoboHelp Documentation?)

However, I thought that the blank TOC was created before I
learned the "correct" way to import FrameMaker documents: by
reference. So I can't say what would have happened if I had
imported the book by reference initially. Nonetheless, I have the
same result - a blank default TOC that I can't remove (as Peter
    points out).

  • Upgrading from RH6 to RH7 - table of contents difference

    Hello -
    I created a project in RH6 and I upgraded to RH7. I made a
copy of the project and opened in RH7 and the table of contents is
not the same as the one created in RH6. It's missing books I
created. Can anyone tell me what I might be able to do to get the
TOC exactly as I had created? Is there a file that I can copy that
contains this information form my RH6 project?
I have both verions of the software on my desktop but I only
run/open 1 version open at a time. Not sure if that has anything to
do it with it but thought I 'd mention it.
    Thanks in advance -

    Hi Manola
Assuming you are using RoboHelp HTML, behind the scenes the
Table of Contents (TOC) exists as a file that uses the same name as
your project, but with a file extension of .HHC. You could try
copying the .HHC file from the old location to the new and see what
    happens.
Normally RoboHelp just uses or points at the same .HHC when
you upgrade. So your situation is very curious to say the least.

  • Incorrect encoding in tables of contents

    Hello,
I have generated my Webhelp with RoboHelp X5 for word. The
word document has been wrtitten on Russian.
I review help with IE. The helps encoding is incorrect - I
    see strange symbols.
Then I select in menu 'View' option 'Encoding' -> Auto -
    Select.
As result encoding of topics text is changed to correct, but
    TOC encoding is not changed.
So I cann't anything do to change TOC encoding and finish my
    work.
Please, help me with this problem

Are you ceating a manual table of contents or do you use the Insert > Table of contents? Both way use a tab and tab stop. In the Inspector > Text tab > Tabs > Tab stops > Leader > choose the dotted line.

  • Problem with expanded books in table of content

I have (in RoboHelp 7) connected a topic to a book, when I go
the the topics URL and click on "show more" the book is not visible
in table of content. Is there any way to do this or do I need to
create an introduction page for every book?
    Exampel:
    I have a book named "Book1.1" that is a "subbook" to "book1".
I have connected "book1.1" to the topic "introduction for book1.1".
When I go to the url (www.help.com/introduction_for_book1_1.html)
and click on "show more" I can see the table of content, but
"book1" is not expanded, so I don't know where I am in the
    structure.
    Thanks!

  • Clearing Table of Content status flags on file launch??

I have a trainin course with the Table of Contents feature (Captivate 4), which displays what screens the user has viewed by displaying green status flags. Our customer may have a workstation set up as a “training station”. It appears as though the status flags in the TOC is cumulative. In other words, of one student comes in, completes the training, and then another student comes in behind him to use the training, all the status flags from the previous training session are still visible. So, my question is…Is there any way to control the status flags without each user having to manually clear them using the clear button? Possibly with a variable of some sort? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there
Have you tried clicking Project > Table of Contents > Settings... and ensuring the Status Flag option is cleared?
