Target Display Mode: Lenovo T420 DisplayPort to iMac (2nd screen) does not work
Configuration:
- Laptop Lenovo T420, DisplayPort, Windows 8.1
- DisplayPort cable, Adapter to Mini DisplayPort
- iMac (Intel, 27-inch, Mid 2011) as 2nd screen, connected via Mini DisplayPort Adapter, Mavericks OSX 10.9.1
Problem:
- iMac does not start Target Display Mode
- Even cannot be forced via Cmd + F2 or Cmd - Shift - F2
Test:
- Lenovo via DisplayPort cable to 2nd screen works fine
- Can switch between PC only, Duplicate, Extend display
Question:
- What is wrong?
- What can be done to idenify the root cause?

It sounds like you are wanting to use the iMac in Target Display mode with your PC. Target Display mode is a feature that is supported from one Mac to another Mac according to this article:

I have the 27-inch (late 2009) iMac with mini-Display port input. Whenever I return from Target Display Mode, I get the attached error message and iPhoto becomes unresponsive (the window is still active, but clicking on it produces the error/warning system sound), I have to Force Quit it. The current screen resolution is not optimal for iPhoto (sometimes the error message is a little off the screen in the lower left and only the top of the window can be seen. This also seems to affect iTunes at the same time (by resizing the window to be super small), but without the error message or unresponsiveness.
Has anyone else gotten this problem, and or might know of a fix?Yes, I have the same problem. I have checked the resolution in Sysyem Preferences - display and it is properly set to the highest resolution (which is recommended). I have no idea why this is ocurring but it is annoying.

Lenovo OneKey Recovery for Windows 7 64bit does not work
Does anyone have a patch or new release link for Lenovo OneKey Recovery? I recently bought a G450 and Win 7 Ultimate-64bit separately, there is no link available in the support and download page under this model yet. I tried installing the Vista 64 bit version and still does not work as well. I did a clean install downloaded the drivers from the Lenovo support page.

I was attempting to do the newest IOS 7 update and halfway through the reboot my phone froze. I attempted to restart the reboot by shutting the phone off but when it came back on it showed a USB cord with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol. When I plugged the phone in it stated that my phone was in recovery mode and needed to by restored. When I attempted to restore the phone it "extracted data" for approximately 30 min and then stated the phone could not be found. I tried this 4 separate times and took the phone to the local Verizon store who tried the same thing with the same results. What do I do?

IMac lock screen password not working
I know my Apple ID & Password and they both work for every purpose on my iMac except the lock screen. If I swipe my mouse in a certain way (and I'm not exactly sure which mouse gesture it is) but it locks my screen and demands a password be entered to unlock it. However, it doesn't accept my normal Apple password, the same password I use to install things or for purchases etc. I have to do a hard reboot and it logs on as normal. Any idea why?
I only know of one password I've ever used on this Mac. I've also tried 2 other passwords that I sometimes use for other things to no avail. Are there any set rules for the password format for the lock screen? If it has some very specific rules I might have adapted my password slightly and then forgotten it!

ISight works on an iMac (PC) but does not work in a MacBookPro
I just migrated from an iMac (Power PC) to a MacBookPro 17' (Intel) using the Migration Assistant.
In the iMac is the option to use iSight instead of a camcorder but this option is not coming out in the MacBook Pro. What do I have to do to have the same behavior in both computers?... to reinstall
Put your iLife Disk in the Superdrive, double-click the iLife package icon in the window that opens, and follow the on-screen instructions.
I suggest you repair disk permissions before AND after running any installer that asks for your administrator password.

The iMovie that comes on MacBook Pros is called "iMovie".
The version you are reinstalling is named "iMovie HD".
Both will be in your applications folder once you are successful.

you must be using iMovie HD 6 (or later) in order to use a built-in iSight.

TS1717 I-tunes will not open even in safe mode on windows 7 32bit. A reload does not work either.
I-tunes stopped working on my Windows 7 32 bit computer. It will not open in safe mode or anything else. I even tried reinstalling and still nothing.
You're unlikely to get a reply. It's pretty much unused as far as I'm aware. You need to get a crash id outside of firefox for me to help. Press Start key + R and a dialog should open. in the textbox type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted\
Now, open a few of the files and copy the code from each of them to this thread. I will then research your bug with the help of the Mozilla Crash Reporter. -
Display of iPod Nano 2nd Generation does not work. Only backlight - nothing else. Experiences?
The iPod still start and also plays music, but I can't see anything on the display.
I can see the backlight, but not more...
I have reinstalled, recovered and restarted the iPod.
The firmware and iTunes is at the newest version.
Anyone got experience with this? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks for your helpSounds like you have tried all of the regular troubleshooting. So it points to an issue with your nano's LCD display. You'll have want to have it repaired/replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

No backlight in Target Display Mode on 2012 27" iMac
I am trying to use my new 2012 iMac 27" as an external display for my mid 2011 Mac Mini with Target Display Mode. At first it seems like it's not working when switching as I hit Command + F2 and the screen changes to black. But after shining a flashlight onto the monitor I can see the desktop and dock of my Mac Mini operating system. Mouse control and everything else works, it's just the backlight doesn't light up when connected to the Mac Mini. But hitting Command + F2 again brings it back to the iMac and a normal functioning backlight.
I'm assuming this is a bug in the new iMac because I had a late 2011 iMac 27" (previous generation) hooked up to this same Mac Mini and Target Display Mode worked perfectly between the two. It was even the same exact Thunderbolt cable. I have re-tested the Mac Mini and plugged it into another monitor with a DVI to Mini Display port adapter and it has worked fine. Has anybody else experienced this behavior?HI - i had this problem too. see my previous post above. I spent weeks on the phone to apple support.
from memory:
1. I had to reinstall the OS (from a download) - but this failed to work
2. So... I had to perform a complete reinstall of the operating system (and wipe all user data)
3. and then restore all my user data.
Everything has worked seamlessly since then - which to me indicates it's a s/w problem and possibly one with something in my user profile? I just reliased I did not try and create a new user and try TDM using that. This would've proved it was a user profile problem or not.. I had one small ocassion where the screen went blank a week ago, but I just quickly pulled the TB cable out and put it back in again - and it was all ok.
So in essence I've been runing OK now since I did the reinstall and restored the user data.

Can windows 8.1 in boot Camp display in target display mode on an IMac?
I have given up on Windows 7 running in Boot Camp on my 15" MacBook Pro and displaying it on my 27" IMac via thunderbolt and Target Display Mode.
The FAQ concerning Target Dsiplay Mode farily clearly says Windows 7 won't work.
But it does not say Windows 8.1 will or will not drive Target Display Mode via thunderbolt.

Has anyone found that running Windows 8.1 in BootCamp on a MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012 will display via a thunderbolt cable in to Target Display Mode on a late 2013 IMac 27"?
I don't want to go to the trouble of installing Windows 8.1 and trashing my otherwise functional Windows 7 Boot Camp installation unless it is going to display properly on my late 2013 27" IMac running OSX 10.9.3 via thunderbolt.

This used to work perfectly for me. But under 10.6.8, the brightness control stopped working. Sound and media control still work as expected. I posted before on this.
Now I know more people are experiencing this problem... I am looking for people who DO have it working under 10.6.8!
I'm looking for anything I can do to get it to work, maybe the info from people who have it working gives me some clues.
Lion is just around the corner. Please let me know if Lion fixes this problem for you.

MaartenI'm using two 27" imacs and one of them is still on 10.6.8 one has been upgraded to Lion just now.
I thought it was the Lion update which caused this issue for me because I installed 10.6.8 on both of them today as well.
Now I can't adjust the brightness in target display mode on either 27" imac.... worse that that it sets it to full brightness too.
I don't know of I want to try to go back to before 10.6.8 with time machine, talk about gutted ?
can you use monitor calibration as a work around ?
I found TS3919 but it doesn't work BTW , it says to set the brigthness before entering target display mode..

I have a similar issue. I am trying to connect iMac 27" to Macbook Pro 13" (both 2011 models). I am using mini displayport Male-Male cable to connect both computers. After connecting I have pressed Command + F2 key but nothing happens. Any suggestions?

iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) computers do not support Target Display Mode via Mini DisplayPort cables.
