TDP: Sentiment analysis on combined word/string possible?

Using TDP transform I am doing sentiment analysis of unstructured data. As this sentiment analysis depend on single word /sorce form which is mentioned in rule file.
Is it possible to perform the sentiment analysis on combined word or string.
E.g: "Good Morning"
This is WeakPositive Sentiment as "Good" word is present. But I want to consider whole "Good Morning" word for sentiment analysis which I will probably define under NutralSentiment in rule file.

Can anyone tell me how can i add my own sentiments keywords and tell which word should be goes into positive or which goes into negative ??
Can i create my own language in the lexalytics tool and access them into the keywords as the data into the library and tell Endeca Server and the Salience Engine that you must have to put this statement into the positive sentiment and the other into the Negative Sentiment ???

Judging from your other thread, you are probably still looking to do Sentiment Analysis in Arabic, is that correct? For the supported languages, Lexalytics supports customization to allow for different dictionaries related to entity extraction and a bunch of other features. For more, you can see this blog post and the Lexalytics config documentation.
However, Arabic is not a supported language for Sentiment and due to the way Arabic is constructed as a language, I don't think it's something you could handle with Lexalytics as it's currently constructed. Your best bet is to integrate your data ingest processes with a 3rd party tool or something offered as a service to get what you need.
For example, RepuState has an API that looks pretty interesting (I have no affiliation with them whatsoever) and supports Arabic sentiment analysis. Seems like it could be very easily hooked into Integrator.

Error in Sentiment analysis using Salience engine

I am using QuickStart install of Endeca and then installed Oracle Endeca Text Enrichment Installer 5.0 (Lexalytics Salience).
When I run the graph using the text enrichment, it gives a ERROR message saying "Salience License doesn't support sentiment processing, sentiment processing is disabled globally for now on".
Due to this it is not returning any documentsentiment values
any suggestions?

As mentioned in the error message, the license that you are using for the Salience Engine does not have the Sentiment Analysis feature enabled. As a result, no sentiment analysis will be done by the Salience Engine. And hence, you will not get the document sentiment.
Please make sure that you have an appropriate license for the Salience Engine.

Multiple Word Strings Using C++ in Xcode 2.2

This is my first post and I'm happily a new member and hopefully a helpful one as well. I took a C++ programming class in school, decided to use Xcode and start doing programming again. However, I have this issue:
I'm trying to use a string to read me what I've entered for the name of a person, of course once there is a space, the name ends. Here is my code...

Whole word string replacement in LV7.1

Is there anyway to do whole word string replacement in 7.1?
For example, if I have the string "x21+sin(x2)" and I want to replace "x2" with "b2" without accidently changing "x21" into "b21". I saw that 7.1 does not support the word boundary "\b" in regex.

The easy solution is to search for "(x2)" and replace with "(b2)" but if you're not sure that x2 will always be in parenthesis, then another solution would be to get the next character after "x2" is found, and if it is not a number (0-9) then you have found x2, if it is a number then you have found x21, or x22, etc.

Unidentified error when combining word documents on Acrobat 8 standard

One of our users is currently running Office 2007 and Acrobat 8 Standard. Whenever she tries to combine multiple word files into one PDF, each file in the list will say "Error (file skipped)". The Status will say "PDF conversion process failed, please correct the error and retry." Afterwards I get an error of "No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error." Printing to the PDF printer from Word works just fine, however this problem only seems to occur when combining word files. I have logged onto the PC as a network administrator and everything works correctly. Any Ideas?

It may be as simple as updating Acrobat. I think you needed AA8.1.3 to work with OFFICE 2007. Try to use the create PDF selection under the Acrobat menu in WORD (this is PDF Maker) and see if you can create a PDF. If there is no Acrobat menu, then PDF Maker is not active in WORD and is the basic problem you are having. PDF Maker has to be working for the Acrobat function you are using to be useful.

Suddenly unable to combine word documents

I've been using Adobe Acrobat X every quarter to prepare a PDF for a board meeting, combining Word Documents and PDFs.
It's always worked fine, but all of a sudden I can't combine Word anymore.

Cannot Combine Word documents Adobe X. Office 2010

Wondering if anyone has run into this issue before. We are running Adobe X on Server 2003 SP2 (Citrix envionrment). We have just upgraded to Office 2010 and Adobe X (latest Patch). The primary reason for the upgrade is becuase the Combine Files fuction with Office 2010 and Adobe 9.x was not supported. After upgrading, any attempt to combine word files fails. Combining PDF files work perfectly fine. I'm able to open Word and using the Adobe Ribbon, convert Word documents to PDFs fine as well. I can also print to the PDF printer and I am still able to successfully convert to PDFs. When we attempt to combin any Word files (.docx), each file errors out (gets skipped) and at the end we receive an error (No PDF File was created becuase Acrobat encountered an unidentified errors). I'm running this as an administrator so permissions shouldn't be an issue. I've changed the settings on the PDF printer and that hasn't helped (print directly to printer and change the port to a file location).
In addtion to the combine files not working, right clicking a word doc and Converting to a PDF fails too. See the screen shot below. IT seems as if the PDF maker is erroring out. I can see Word open in the task manager. Once the converstion fails, it does not close the Word process in Task Manager.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried it on a base machine, not a server (hope you have the additional license from Adobe for the server use, since that is a violation of the license for an individual package installation)? There are often problems when doing these things over a network.

Installing Text Enrichment with Sentiment Analysis (Salience 5.1.1.7349)

I’m trying to install Text Enrichment with Sentiment Analysis (Salience 5.1.1.7349) on Oracle Linux 6 and am referring to the IntegratorETLTextEnrichmentQuickStartGuide.pdf and http://dev.lexalytics.com/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.Installation#Linux
From the instructions in the link, I don’t understand where is the installer to be run and secondly, I don’t see the license.v5 file in my download.
In another post I saw, it was saidd that the license file isn't required for Endeca 3.1 onward. Is that true?
I'd be very grateful if someone can help me understand what is the right procedure to install this..

You must download the "Oracle Endeca Text Enrichment with Sentiment Analysis 5.1.1 Installer for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)" package from Oracle Delivery Site.
There you will find everything you need to perform the installation (both the license and the installation file) and different language dictionaries.
If you have any problems with it feel free to tell me.

in many web pages it says
"Oracle Endeca Server supports following languages:
Catalan, Chinese (simplified/traditional), Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish"
Does this mean Turkish is also supported for sentiment analysis? I could not find Turkish in Endeca documentation.

I'm assuming that you are using the Text Enrichment component in the Integrator ETL product. In that component, the Sentiment Analysis feature uses the Salience Engine from Lexalytics. The languages supported by the Salience Engine are listed here:

Turkish is not one of the supported languages.

Combining Word and Visio Files Through HTML and PDF

I have a Word document and a Visio drawing with multiple pages, and I would like to combine them together into a pdf file. Both documents have internal links and links to each other, and I would like to maintain them when converting to pdf (so that I do not have to re-add them through Acrobat). Word anchors are specific words on a page, and Visio anchors are specific pages in the drawing. I can maintain Word bookmarks as named destinations through OpenOffice, so that isn't a problem.
Originally I was able to accomplish this by converting both of the files to html, linking the html pages to each other, and using the Web Capture feature in Acrobat 5. However, Word formatting was lost, so I am looking for a way to convert the Word file directly to pdf and still maintain the links.
I was able to make most of the links work properly by saving the Visio file as html pages and linking to those from the Word document. Then I could export the Word document to pdf, open the file in Acrobat 9 Pro, and Web Capture > Append Links On Page from the table of contents. However, links from the html (Visio) pages to "file.pdf#destination" do not link back to the same file. Instead, they try to open another file with the same name and become very confused.
When I tried this in Acrobat 5, it would append another version of the pdf Word document. However, named destinations would not be maintained, so all of the Visio to Word links would go to the title page of the Word document.
Is there a better way to accomplish this through Acrobat 9 (or Acrobat 5)?
Additionally, Acrobat 9 image map conversion does not seem to work as well as it did in Acrobat 5. Most of the link boxes are twice as big as they should be, making it difficult to click on anything. Is there a good way around this?

Basically, the question is: can I combine two interlinked PDF files so that the links in each go to the correct views in the merged PDF? If not, is there a third-party application that will?
Could I possibly make a PDF Portfolio that maintains the links? I'd prefer a single file, but that would work as well.

Combining word processing and page layout templates

Does anyone know how to (or if it's possible at all) merge or combine a Pages 09 document set up on the "Pages Layout" template with one set up on "Word Processing" template properly? Can these two templates "talk to each other"?
I'm trying to combine some of my separate class notes for my students into one file, and some were created in Page Layout, with visuals, charts, pics, etc. I also have some Word Document notes that I'd like to merge with the other notes to create one "class notes" file for my students. But I can't seem to do that, for some reason. I can copy individual pages from the Page Layout notes and paste them into my Word Document notes, but they paste as two pages (one page is blank). When I delete that page, the other one is deleted, too. I can't copy and paste from the other direction (word doc to page layout) at all, and like I said, the other way is a little off, as well.
Any ideas, or is this just not possible in Pages 09? Thanks.

I'd like to stay in one or the other, but I just like features that are only in one or the other. For example, I like in WP mode that when I get to the end of a page of writing and keep going, a new page appears (with formatting and layout intact on the next). If I'm in PL mode and writing in a text box, it just goes beyond the viewable screen. I also like the ability to select and move around individual pages in PL mode, and that doesn't seem to be available in WP mode (they're all stuck together and move in clumps). But you're right, I'm just going to have to stick with one and figure out some workarounds for some things I like. Since I think I'll be more in WP mode, I'll try to move stuff over from PL.

Thanks for the advice... it's already helped me try to come up with some ways to fix things. The whole click away thing to give me floating objects has been great! You're right, this does seem like a design flaw, but I suppose Apple can't be all things to all people. Still, I'd like a little more...

Hang in there! You're right, Pages is tough when trying to use created projects in other apps! Like you said, I'm working to rebuild the layout. By the way, my PL document was 16 pages, which when transferred to WP mode doubled in size! Sheesh...

[SOLVED] Multiple Instances of Word 2010; Possible to Force Single Instance?

Is it possible to either:
Control Word instancing so that its a single instace application; OR
Adjust the behavior so that if there's already an Word of word, new documents (no matter how they're launched) will open in the existing instance and NOT a new one?
I have a user who tends to open documents en masse/in bulk, highlighting 2-8 at a time and opening them (alternate-click > open OR once selected hitting [Enter]).
When they do this, multiple instances of Word are launched.
Very rarely is there an instance for each document, but its usually close. For example, if they opened 8 documents there might be 5-7 instances, with several instances showing 2 or more documents in View > Switch Windows.
Multiple instances of Word are a problem for this user because they because a heavy user of Ctrl+F6 / Ctrl+Shift+F6.
And when documents are spread out across multiple instances, this does not work: It does not allow them to cycle through all opened documents; It will only cycle through those that are within that particular instance of Word.
Is this by design?
Is this a change in the way earlier versions of Word behaved?
Is this an 'undocumented feature' [or worse]?
Can this behavior be controlled?

No idea; I'd call it a bug.
This behavior started with Word 2007 or 2010, earlier versions opened all documents within a single instance.

Cannot Convert and Combine Word 2010 docs to PDF Binder

Have Acrobat Pro 9.4 Extended. This worked fine with Word 2007, but I upgraded to Word 2010. Now, when I add files and press on combine button it opens Word and asks me to save the first file to a pdf in Word, not in Acrobat. Then, the conversion in Acrobat starts but hangs up until the program stops responding. The binder that holds the combined and converted word docs to pdf never occurs. Maybe the settings are wrong. Or is there an issue with Office 2010? I did a repair of Acrobat, but it has not helped. Any help appreciated.

Do you see the same issue with PDF Maker also ? I would recomend to update the Acrobat to the latest version : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html

Combining Word Documents - Selecting Pages - Acrobat X Pro

Hi,
I am hoping someone can tell me where I can find the setting to be able to do the following action,
When combining different types of files, I get different behaviour for selecting pages, i.e. the "Preview and Select Page Range" dialog,
e.g. for a pdf file, in the preview pane, I can navigate through the pages with the buttons at the bottom,
However, when I try to select the pages in a word, powerpoint etc. document I get a different behaviour,
As you can see, there are no navigate buttons. The preview also appears to be in "outline" mode, i.e. doesn't show page gaps. Just a continuous preview of the document. This makes it very difficult to actually choose which pages to combine without having to open the document itself and determine the pages I want, i.e. defeating the purpose of having a preview pane at all.
I had a trial version of Acrobat X Pro, but then we got the full version. I am sure that in the trial version I had the navigate buttons, or at least got the page breaks shown.
Is there a setting that might have changed?
What could be going on?

Hi Bill,
Yeah, that is my current work around. I open the word document separately, find the pages that I want to combine and enter those into the Acrobat X dialogue box.
However, that sorta defeats the purpose of having the preview and select pages dialogue box in Acrobat!!
Futhermore, I am sure it worked in the trial version I had before. So I have a feeling it is a setting somewhere that just needs to be turned on/off.
