Cannot Convert and Combine Word 2010 docs to PDF Binder

Have Acrobat Pro 9.4 Extended.  This worked fine with Word 2007, but I upgraded to Word 2010.  Now, when I add files and press on combine button it opens Word and asks me to save the first file to a pdf in Word, not in Acrobat.  Then, the conversion in Acrobat starts but hangs up until the program stops responding.  The binder that holds the combined and converted word docs to pdf never occurs.  Maybe the settings are wrong.  Or is there an issue with Office 2010?  I did a repair of Acrobat, but it has not helped.  Any help appreciated.

Do you see the same issue with PDF Maker also ? I would recomend to update the Acrobat to the latest version : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html

  • Using a PC; converting a Word 2010 document to PDF; upon completion the PDF document has a dark and/or patterned background; I have tried "removing" the background but that has not worked.

Can someone help me remove what appears to be a 'background' that is created when converting a Word 2010 doc to a PDF format.  I am using the 'save as' method and selecting PDF as the file type.  I have used this method for over a year and have just had this "background" problem today.  It is not happening on all documents; so far it's just happened on 2 resumes but not on the accompanying cover letters which I think is very odd.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Sara –
I’ve attached the converted documents so you can see what I mean.  The Word document was not shaded in these ways; it was just a white background…or no background at all.
I don’t know if these were created from scanned documents.
    Thanks!

  • Acrobat 9 - Convert and Combine

I have a folder structure (thousands of folders) with multiple layers of subfolders.  I am trying to convert and combine all TIFF files in each subfolder to one PDF file.  I want that PDF file to be located in the original file structure.  In other words, each subfolder should have one PDF that is the combination of all TIFF files in that folder.
I know I can convert all TIFF files by using the batch processing feature.  That feature will locate the new PDF files in the original file location, which is what I want.  Is Acrobat able to perform the second part of my need, to then combine those PDFs by subfolder?  The "Combine supported files in Acrobat" feature doesn't seem to help since it would have to be run on each folder separately.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Instead of hiring an expensive programmer, just download some non-adobe PDF program like image2pdf and use a Windows batch file:
    FOR /F "tokens=*" %%G IN ('DIR /B /AD /S *.*') DO image2pdf -i "%%G\*.TIF" -o "%%G\output.pdf" "%%G"
    pause
Place the batch file in a directory as high up as you want to go. So say you have:
    -top level
    --scans L1
    ---scans L2
    ----your files here
    --scans L1
    ---scans L2
    ----your files here
    --scans L1
    ---scans L2
    ----your files here
Place that batch file in the top level folder and it will go through and create PDF files for you. My method isn't perfect - it's difficult to dynamically name every PDF file and you're going to get an output.pdf file in every folder, regardless of whether or not there are files in it...but at the most basic raw level, it works and can save tons of time.

  • When I save a Word 2010 doc as a pdf file, it opens up in Adobe Reader as a blank page, no text, no background etc.

When I save a Word 2010 doc as a pdf file, it opens up in Adobe Reader as a blank page, no text, no background etc.  I am logged on as the Administrator, running Windows 7, using Microsoft Home and Business 2010.

You were right, it was a Microsoft problem.
I got it...I am now able to save a Word 2010 document as a pdf file.  Here is what I did/found:
In Word, go to File, Options, Display and make sure that "Print drawing created in word" is CHECKED.
Mine was unchecked and when I checked it everything came back and is working as it did before.  The only thing I can think of is that a Microsoft Update may have changed this selection...I know I DID NOT make any changes in the options.
One other thing I noticed in my saved documents folders was that a lot of my files showed up as PDF's and would still not open until I selected one and told it to default to open as a word document and then they all changed back and I was able to open them in word again.
I hope this helps others out there.

  • Export/Convert Browser Based Infopath 2010 forms to PDF/Excel/Word

    Hi,
Is there an OOB, way of converting browser based Infopath 2010 forms to PDF/Word/Excel.
In case there isnt, can anyone please point me to a coded or a programmatic way of implementing the same.
    Soptik Dutta

    Hi Soptik,
As far as I know, we can only save an InfoPath form as PDF/Excel using InfoPath Windows form application(rather than Broswer-based InfoPath).
    In this case, we can
Open the library that save the forms
Selec the form that is wanted to be PDF/Excel(Just select it, don't open it)
Click the "inverse trangle", and then click "Edit in Microsoft InfoPath"
In InfoPath, click "File" > "Save & Send" to save the form as PDF/Excel
In this following thread, there are some code snippets, which will help you to export an form to PDF using custom code:

Please feel free to ask, if you have any more questions.

  • Problem converting Word 2007 DOC to PDF 9

Problem converting Word 2007 DOC to PDF 9
I have a Word 2007 DOC (not docx) file with pictures and text which converted perfectly with Distiller 8. I installed CS4 Distiller 9, and now the same DOC file flows over onto several extra pages. I am using the default settings. Any idea what has changed. Thanks in advance.

First, select the Adobe PDF printer in WORD. Then go through the document to check for the flow of the document. It should print the same as you see in the document after the printer has been selected.

  • Does the 932C HP printer with 2 sided printing accessory work with window 7 and office word 2010?

(model#C6463A-double side, printing accessory), for the HP 923C printer?  Is it real slow printing?  Does it flip by itself or do I have to flip it? Also will the printer with the accessory work with windows 7 and office word 2010 to type 4 pages per sheet, like a book? Thanks and please help me!

    Hi @Happyforhelp
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Deskjet 930/932c Printer series page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • Convert and combine many image files into a pdf file?

I have about 250 png and jpg files in a directory, and would like to convert and combine them into a pdf file.
I wonder what steps to do that in Acrobat Adobe 9 in Windows?
    Requirements are:
They are named in the order of 0000.png, 0001.jpg, ..., 0250.png, in which I would like to create the pages of the resulting pdf file.
Also there may be some numbers (such as neither 0010.png nor 0010.jpg exists) missing, but still I would like the images be in the same order after creation of a pdf file.
I would like the pages in the resulting pdf file look to have the same or similar size.
But the numbers of pixels of the image files are different. Some are about 2000 x 3500 pixels, and some are about 800 x 1200 pixels.
I also would like to have control of the spatial resolution such as the dpi parameter
I also would like to OCR the pdf file (the images are scanned raster images).
I would like the resulting pdf file to take reasonable storage size on my disk.

You don't say what version of Acrobat you are using, but I expect you could do it with Acrobat XI's Actions feature. Maybe even in 10.0. Since this is an enterprise deployment forum, I suggest you find a better forum and ask about Actions and Batch Processing.

  • Word 2007 doc to PDF missing bookmark numbers

    Hi,
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to convert a Word 2007 doc to PDF. The doc converts fine and I get the bookmarks.
The problem though is that the generated bookmarks are missing their numbers.
    For example:
In Word 2007, it will look like:
    1 Overview
    1.1 Introduction
In Acrobat 9 Pro generated PDF, it looks like:
    Overview
    Introduction
I looked through the forums and other people have posted similar questions but no resolution was seen.
    Can somebody please help out?
I talked to Adobe tech support and they were no help.
    Thanks

    Hi all,
Here is an update to this issue.
First of all I agree with Nick that this *is* an Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro issue. (Possibly even with older versions).
Anyway below are the steps I followed to get this to work. It is quite a round about way but I'm happy I got it to work.
    * Generate the PDF as usual from Word 2007. (Maybe you don't need to generate the bookmarks here because we are going to delete them later anyway).
    * Open the newly generated PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
    * Click on the Bookmarks tab---if you have the Word 2007 generated bookmarks here select them all (Ctrl-A) and delete them :(
    * Then click on the "Gears" icon in the Bookmarks tab.
    * In the drop down menu select the "New Bookmarks from Structure..."
    * Highlight the structures you wish to have for your bookmarks. For example I chose H1, H2, H3 assuming those were Heading1, ...
    * Click OK
    * The newly generated bookmarks contain section numbers
    * Unfortunately this shows up within a bookmark called "Untitled" So I again select all (Ctrl-A)
    * Unselect "untitled" and move (drag) everything else to one level above "Untitled"
    * Then I delete "Untitled".
Unfortunately this new bookmark is a flat structure---i.e. you cannot collapse it.
Oh well! At least it works.
If any of you can come up with a better solution, please post it here :)
    Thanks

  • Word 2013 generates .docx files that cannot be read on Word 2010

    Howdy,
I received a MS Word document that was created on Word for Mac 2011.  I opened it, edited it and saved it in .docx format.  I have MS Word 2013 running on a humble PC.
Now the Mac cannot read my file.  Also, PC's running Word 2010 cannot read the file.
However, many different machines running Word 2013 can open the file, Google Docs can open the file, Word in the Cloud can open the file, open office can open the file and even Word 2003 with the compatibility pack can open and edit the file.
Mac's give an error message that essentially says "xml format incorrect".  PCs simply say the file format is wrong.  No other details.  Various compatibility checks inside word say that everything is compatible with prior versions
of Word with the exception of my equations which it says will be converted to .gifs if viewed in word 2003.
Any idea what is going on?  Supposedly, Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 all use the same xml formats, so its a bit of a mystery why 2010 (and 2011 on the Mac) cannot open a standard format .xml file that was created by 2013.
The file contains text, figures and equations.  Nothing else.  No macros, no VBA code.
    Thoughts or advice?

    Hi,
What is the file's original extension? .doc?
If you saved the file in .docx format by changing the extension directly, the issue may occur, please make sure you saved it by "Save as". Or we can rename the file from ".docx" to the original extension, check if the issue
    persists.
If it's not your scenario above, we can also try to "repair" the file in Word 2010:
Open Word 2010, Click File -> Open -> Browse to the file and use "Open and Repair" to open the file.
If the suggestions above don't help, please provide the exact error message that you get in Word 2010 so that I can perform further research.

  • Missing data in Acrobat Pro XI PDF created from Microsoft Word (2010) doc

When I create an "Adobe PDF" from a Microsoft 2010 Word doc that contains mainly images and text boxes, about 50% of the text boxes do not appear in the PDF.  Also, some of the images (layered on top of each other) appear in a different order - the one on the bottom moves to the top.
How can I address this problem so that the PDF accurately reflects the Word document?
(I am using Acrobat Pro XI and Microsoft Office 2010)

Finally figured it out -- if I view the form directly in Adobe Reader (over our network), I see the confusing message about "Click 'Sign' to fill out..."
BUT, if I open the form within a web browser (IE, Firefox, etc.), I see the usual message: "Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print..."
It is doing what I expected; I just wasn't viewing it in the usual manner.  Users will be seeing this form via a web browser, so problem solved.
