Hello,
First of all I would recommend to implement all OSS notes for your CRM version. Search for application area "CRM-BF-COM". Example:
Note 1068364 - Office Integration fixes CRM 5.2
Then kindly check the online help for more information on how to use the template designer:

  • Attachments using Word Templates

We are attaching Word docs to CRM activities.
We would like to use the document create functionality that is a part of the attachment tool bar in an activity.
Is there any way to call a specific word document template without setting the template as the default template in MS-word.
For example we have a letter template stored on the user's PC. Our current process is to open Word. Open the template. Save the document. Import the document as an attachment.
We would like to hit the create button and launch Word as an application and immediately call the template?
Word has command line switches that enable this functionality "/t". Is there someway to pass the switch in the call to the create the document in the activity.
    Any insight is appreciated.
    Roger Myers

    Roger,
I think you can achieve the functionality by using a workflow. There you can attach existing Word templates or create new ones with ease.
    Hope it helps.

  • I'm using Word for Mac. Though there are various instructions on the Internet for modifying the templates, none make sense to me. They instruct to do something I can't follow. I change a template but can't save it to the template folder.

    What the ****.
OK, I try to change a template using Word for Mac version 14.3.4 2011 edition.
I make a change to the template but am unable to save the darned thing to the template folder; it asks for a file name like it's a new document. I want to change the blasted template but if I can't save it as a modified template, I've accomplished nothing.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks

  • Unable to Create Service Request Template in CRM

    Hello,
I need to create a service request template in crm web ui,
    Following are the steps followed.
I have identified the transaction type as SRQT screen shot attached below
However when I click on on the work center link groups of the service pro role, I am not able to find the same for the service request template
As per the post below it says that you need to go navigation bar profile and add the SM-SUPPORT work center and the work center link group as SM-SRQT-CR
How to customize service request templates
The error appears when I try to add the logical link id,
Because of the above error I am not able to create service request template in sap crm, please advice which logical link ID, I need to use so that the service request template can be created in the system.
    Kind Regards
    Atul

    Hi Atul,
    1. Screen shot 1 is correct
    2. Screen shot 2 - You are at end of all work centers in your custom role which you might have copied from standard or Z role. If you look in standard role SERVICEPRO, navigation bar profile SRV-PRO, work center - SRV-ORD, you will find service request template
In Cases work Center in standard SERVICEPRO role you can create service request template.
Try copying this to your custom role in your required work center. It should work.

  • XML scheme and Web services enhancement for MS Word integration in CRM 2007

    Hi,
I am trying to use the Template designer and the web services tool in order to create a MS Word template for the quotation.
We have created a new web service, using the Web Service Tool
(transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB, type WS_DESIGN_TOOL). I can use this web service when creating a quotation word template and everything works fine.
I need to enhance the web service with some custom fields and logic. I found the blog:
Web-services enhancement for MS Word integration in CRM 2007
    /people/community.user/blog/2008/11/18/web-services-enhancement-for-ms-word-integration-in-crm-2007
The blog describe how to enhance the web service, extend the output
    structure etc.
We have done all the steps in the blog, and everything looks fine. When
we test the web service, using the Web Service Navigator, all the new
fields we added to the output structure are displayed. The WSDL
document also looks fine, displayed from the Web Service
    Administration.
The problem occur when try to create the word template using the
Template Designer. The XML scheme is not displayed in the word
document. This only happens if we use an enhanced web service.
    Anyone familiar with this issue?
    Kind regards,
    Johan Wigert

    Hi,
You may have to upgrade your MS word 2003 to MS Word 2007.
Before you do that please opening View > toolbars > Task Pane and check if you can get XML Schema from the web service.

  • For a reporting alternative (design in Word or Excel)

If you are looking for an alternative in reporting, please take a look at Windward.
Windward Reports, the leader in enterprise report generation, has released the world’s first enterprise reporting software that enables use of Excel as a design tool. The Windward Reports Server Engine is perfect for users creating both java reports and .net reports alike, and now allows users to design reports in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel as well.
Windward, a leader in with its design-in-Word reporting software because of its ease of use, now adds the advantages of Excel to its portfolio of simple-to-use, superior reporting products. Windward’s new AutoTag 6.0 reporting software uniquely uses Excel to intelligently figure out sums and number formatting, and allows users to build a table which supports calculations. AutoTag 6.0 still outputs to Word, or any other output format, to produce reporting documents.
Why is this Excel release so important? Simply put: Freedom. By creating an easy-to-use design tool which allows users to design their reports in Excel (in addition to word), Windward is freeing up thousands of IT man-hours normally allocated to report design, and including Excel business users in their ‘power-to the people’ philosophy. Now, non-technical business users who prefer Excel, can design their own reports and stay within their comfort zone while doing so. Windward Reports AutoTag for Excel doesn’t just look like Excel, it IS Excel.
How Does It Work? Begin with a worksheet. Using the AutoTag pull-down menu, select a data source such as an SQL database or XML file. (AutoTag works in conjunction with the Windward Reports Standard Server Engine, which gives your PC the ability to communicate with your organization's data sources, such as its SQL databases and XML files.) You use standard Excel commands to format and edit the report, and you assign tags to the data fields using the AutoTag pull-down menu. When finished, you save your template and, if you wish, verify that tags are correct with AutoTag's "validate" function.
What makes this unique? With AutoTag for Excel, your number formatting always carries through – it doesn’t matter if you output to RTF, PDF, or any other type. And, by using Excel templates you have a way to easily, and automatically generate reports that perform calculations on a collection of values! For instance, you might use Excel to sum all of the line-item amounts that are generated by an AutoTag. While AutoTag was always easy to use, this additional capability offers functions not available in a word-designed template, allowing the software to be used by more people, in more ways.
When you generate the report Windward Reports merges this template with the data you have selected. The finished report, with all of your formatting, positioning and design, is available in minutes instead of hours or even days.
Download a demo or check out a sample report at http://www.windwardreports.com. For more information on how you can use Excel or Word to design your reports, call 303-499-2544.

  • How to insert blank page into pages document when using word processing mode?

I've recently created a 50+ page document using Pages '09. I started the document using word processing mode. Now, when I view in thumbnail mode and try to insert a blank page somehwere in the middle of the document, it won't allow me to select where I want. It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section. I believe this is because I am in word processing mode. My question is, can I convert the document to layout mode so that each page represents it's own section, without losing what work I've already done? And if so, how?
The document is entirely text boxes and images, so I don't have any need for word processing space. I just need new pages to act as blank templates for the text boxes and images I create.
Is it possible to keep all my work as is, and convert the document to layout mode vs. word processing mode?
    Thanks!

It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section.
That's because they are one section. You must insert section breaks to separate them. There is no need to use page layout which does make each page a separate section. You have to manually add each page & use text boxes or other containers for the text & link the text boxes.

  • I can't use Word 2003

    Hello,
I've MS Office 2003 and RoboHelp for Word (demo activated for
30 days trial) installed on a Vista HP system.
When I open Word to load a previously edited document (.doc
file) it does not open but the control of Word is taken by
    Robohelp.
    How to use Word normally?
I tried to uninstall RH but the Word menu has always the
Roboform Item in it. When I select one of the RH menu items from
Word I get of course an error message that invites to reinstall RH.
    Any help?

  • Web content management and using word to contribute

Hello - our users are having issues using word to contirbute and edit content. They contibute something, sometimes in word tables and sometimes not, and it may look fine in word but when it gets converted, it looks differently. Are there any tips/tricks out there that I can share? DC template changes I can make? And thoughts would be great!!

I assume you mean a HTML conversion.
Make sure your people are using Word "styles" and not simply changing the font sizes. You will then need to set up a DC template to render tables & images in specific ways depending on the Word style used. Note that styles can only be paragraph-based. Set as your DC template the default template.

  • Using Word Insert Field VI to load a bookmark

I'm using a VI from the MS Word/Excel Report Generation toolkit called Word Insert Field.  I have an MS Word document with a named bookmark.  I want to replace the bookmark text programmatically from LabVIEW.  I believe WordInsert Field is the right VI, but I can't find the proper input for type- there are something like 100 choices.  I just want to replace the bookmark text with the text I have provided in the text input.  Should be simple...
In the example in the attached file, I'm trying to insert the text "XXX1234" at the bookmark named LotNum in the Word file BookTest.docx.  I don't know what to choose for the type constant.  There are many choices, and none I've tried work correctly.
    Solved!

I have been able to replace existing text at a bookmark using Labview. My solution uses Word macros. In the Word template you use for your document, you create a Word macro that locates the bookmark you want. It is easier to create a macro for each bookmark but I think that you can pass the bookmark name as a parameter but it is not my area of expertise. Then, you create another macro that just deletes the number of characters you want to erase (once again, you can probably pass the number of characters as a parameter if you are a passable Word macro programmer). Then, you insert the new text at the bookmark. See code below.
There might be another way to do it using the various sub-VIs within the Append Report Text.vi but I have not been able to figure out so far.

i think to bye imac for graphic design use purpose. kindly guide me. Is iMac best for me ?

    Hello artistsagar,
The word best is always subjective.   It is all a question of your needs, your working practice, your available space; I could go on.
A Mac (probably a 27"one) may well be perfect.  Good size screen, easily understood basic functions and a huge number of recommended programs.   Just Google Mac graphic design to see what is available.

  • Saving a document using Word 2010 into a managed metadat hierarchy

    Hi
Can I save a document using Word 2010 into a document library that has a managed metadata hierarchy and the document appear in the correct place in the hierarchy ?
Ideally it would be good if the Word 2010 "Save As" browser would show the managed metadata hierarchy, the user would select a node on the managed metadata hierarchy and the document would be save with the appropriate metadata to place the document
in the correct place in the hierarchy.
    Thanks

    Nigel Price NJPEnterprises

    Hi Nigel,
I think it's normal difference between "Open" and "Save As" option in MS Office application by design.
Whenever we create the document from/out of SharePoint library, and click "Save As" and there is always no "Arrange by" part in dialog.
When we open Office Word application, and open a library location from SharePoint site, if we disabled the option "Configure Navigation Hierarchies" for that particular library, there will be no "Arrange by" part in "Open"
    dialog(e.g. image below).
It seems SharePoint doesn't provide the function for "Save As" the same as "Open" with different disign requirements, if we want to save document to the needed location in that library through "Save As" dialog, we
can add the proper metadata column value (e.g. manged metadata column if there is) in "Document Information Panel", and/or navigate to the proper library folder location.
    Thanks

  • How to change outlook mail using Word to try and open PDF to Adobe Reader XI?

how to change outlook mail using Word to try and open PDF to Adobe Reader XI?

I've never found technology to make life easier. It mainly offers the promise (often unfulfilled) of making it cheaper or quicker. This didn't happen when the Girl Guides put a form in an envelope and posted it. But they probably laid off the person whose job that was with the promise of everything being easy on the internet.
PDF has, curiously, become a victim of its own success. A few years ago, you could say to people "You need Adobe Reader" and it was the only serious game in town. So they got it and it works. Now everyone is making their own PDF reader for whatever reason, fewer and fewer people can be sure of having Reader. (PDF readers come at least with every Mac, every Windows 8 system, Chrome and FireFox, which covers a LOT of ground).
This is coupled with a bizarre decision Adobe made a few years ago to have two kinds of form, one of which all the other software fails with (and, as I noted, even Adobe's own software on iPad and Android fails). This was a neat idea which was designed for big corporations. Then the really big mistake: giving everyone with Acrobat the tools to make these new kinds of form, and making it seem they were preferre or the only game in town. This is finished now (Acrobat 11 doesn't include this big boy's software) but the damage is done, oh how it is done.
Even regular forms tend to only work properly in real Adobe Reader. The fact is, if you make or distribute PDF forms you need to tell people to use Adobe Reader, and to know exactly how to help them do that. If people can't do that or their users won't be motivated to bother, then PDF forms are no longer a suitable choice. Sad but true.

It sounds like if you open Preferences in Word there will be a place where you can specify where to store autorecover files. Right now it sounds like it's pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist.
