Temporary file access issues in 11gR2-AIX

Hi,
I am running 11g R2 database in AIX platform .I am getting the below ORA error message when try to access the temporary files and while run the expdp datapump backup.I have notes to solve this error as need to create the tempfile and drop the problematic file.
But I want to know what cause for corrupt the tempfile . If get some details it would be worth to explain..
SQL> select file_name from dba_temp_files;
select file_name from dba_temp_files

  • Temporary file Generation issue - file Receiver Adapter(NFS)

    Hi Experts,
We are using Dynamic Configuration for generating the Dynamic File name as per the requirement in the File receiver communication channel with transport protocol NFS. As, per the requirement we need to use the "Use Temporary File" in write mode under processing parameter of File Receiver channel - as, the  temporary file creation is one of the requirement of the target system.
We have used the dynamic configuration for generating the Dynamic File name so, i have set the Adapter specific Message attribute for channel .
    Use Adapter Specific Message Attribute
    Fail if Adapter-Specific  Message Attributes
    File Name
Temporary Name Scheme for Target File Name
Now , at the run-time due to the last parameter Channel is giving the error.
" Could not process due to error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.configuration.DynamicConfigurationException: The Adapter Message Property 'TargetTempFileName' was configured as mandatory element, but was not supplied in the XI Message header"
Request you all to suggest the workaround that the with Dynamic File Name generation we, can use the temporary file name generation scheme.
    Regards,
    Gaurav Jindal

    Hi ,
    Thanks for the reply.
If we are using the ASMA with the specific parameters:
    Use Adapter Specific Message Attribute
    Fail if Adapter-Specific Message Attributes
    File Name
And I have choose the  " Use Temporary File" in the Write mode of Processing Parameters.
As, per your suggestion, how we track the temporary file name is created as, i am not able to see that in the audit log.

  • Deleting Temporary Files - Privacy issue

I have a privacy question regarding word. If I'm working on a personal word document at work and I save it to an external usb drive, is there still some evidence of it, like a temporary file saved on my work computer hard drive?
If so, is there a way to delete it? Also, if the document is password protected, would it stay that way in the temp file version?
    Thanks everyone!

Temp files are only saved by Word if it crashes. If you have Word's preferences configured to create timed backups of files then there will be a backup saved of any edited file. You can prevent that by simply disabling the automatic backup option in Word's preferences. Temp files will not be password protected as far as I'm aware unless you have protected your account with File Vault. I'm not sure but I don't think Word has any internal way of saving a file with password protection. You can check Word's help to find out if that's possible.

  • Is anyone else having random file access issues? including "Element not found" error?

I don;t know what the @#$ is going on with this device, but for example:
user A creates a folder in their area(under a share with RW rights)
    Everything is great..
They come in on day2, and all of a sudden, they get "Access denied" on the (excel) file
Typically, if I re-apply full rights for them using windows permissions, it "fixes" it.
Today, I went to modify a excel spreasheet that I've been using for a week or so, and boom, access denied
and effective permissions indicate that very thing: no rights.
I attempted to re-apply rights to my home directory, and on that particulat .xls, got a "Element not found" message.
I'm sad that I've had SO much trouble with this device.
I re-sycned with A/D just for kicks, no help.
    It syncs with A/D daily
I've had so many of these related permissions issues, we're likel;y scrapping the Lenovo for a windows server, but I figured I'll see if anyone else is dealing with this message..
I'm  also open to the fact that it could be our A/D I suppose..

Sorry to reply to such an old topic, but I am having exactly the same issue.  Did you ever find a fix?  We are reapplying all the parent folder settings every morning to bandaid the situation, but it is becoming a little ridiculous...
We have our settings so that a file administrator has full access to everyone's files, and each individual has full access to their own folder.  The folder settings never change, but the files seem to lose the user's access permission periodically after being opened or edited (haven't narrowed down the exact cause, but has never happened to files that haven't been accessed, but doesn't always happen to files that have been accessed).  One odd thing that might have something to do with it, the ownership of files keeps defaulting to a generic 63353/UNIX instead of the creator of the file or the owner of the parent folder (which is set the way we want).  We are currently experiementing with changing it, but it seems ike if we set the owner to the user, the file administrator randomly loses access, if we set to the file admin, the user randomly loses access.  I think we might be can bandaid the situation from the user's perspective with this, but it doesn't seem to fix the initial issue, that the folder permissions won't stay set.

RAC needs the very same storage layer to be visible and available on each RAC node - thus this needs to be some form of shared cluster storage.
Should a piece of it fails on one node, that node would not be able to access the RAC database files on that shared storage layer - and will throw the type of errors you are seeing.
So how does this shared storage layer look like? Fibre channels (HBAs) connected to a Fibre Channel Switch and SAN - making SAN LUNs available as shared storage devices?
Typically a shared storage failure would throw errors in the kernel log. This is because the error is not an Oracle error, but a kernel error. As it is in your case. The bottom error on the error stack points to the root cause:
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 75 - see DBWR trace file
    ORA-01110: data file 75: '/dev/vg_rac/rraw_tap3plus_temp_live05'
    ORA-27041: unable to open file
HPUX-ia64 Error: 19: No such device
So HP-UX on that node is not seeing a specific shared storage device.

  • File access issue

    Hi friends,
I have created program that creates file in Application server (Unix Servier) using Open DataSet and Close DataSet. File is Created in the directory
    /usr/app/sapudp/fi/temp perfectly.
But the issue is some users are not able to read\write the file. As per Unix team, these users does not belong to the perticular group.
By default the created files have the permissions for some Group only as shown below. But the my user does not belong to that group.
    -rw-rw----   1 user1   group1
But by default it has to be as shown below
    -rw-rw-r--   1 user1   group1
is there any way I can change this unix command in the program itself or unix guys have to change this every time the file is created.
please help me.. <b><REMOVED BY MODERATOR></b>

  • Recent file access issue

    Hi all,
Seemingly since the last round of updates from Microsoft, my users are seeing intermittent instances where existing Excel spreadsheets (and maybe Word documents, although that hasn't been reported,) are unable to be saved.  In two cases, after they closed Excel, the file disappeared from the file system (share on a 2008 Server.)
Also, we've seen a few instances where multiple users can have write access to a sheet simultaneous.  No, they are not "Shared Documents" in Excel.
Has anyone seen this, or better yet know the cause or solution?
    Thanks!

  • Odd file access issues OES 11 SP1

    Hello,
We're running a VMWare ESXi 5.1 cluster. On that we have an OES 11 cluster managing groupwise/iprint/nss/dhcp/dns services. Over the summer we updated to SP1 on the OES side.
This school year we have seen some odd issues, particularly with our NSS volumes. Occasionally, some users will report that they can't see their home directory or other shared folders. I actually had one user opening up a shared folder for our high school and was seeing a shared folder for a completely different school. If you created a new folder, it put it in the proper share. So, very weird behavior. Generally a client reboot fixes the issues, but it's becoming common enough that I feel there is some underlying issue.
Any thoughts about what could be causing this? I'm not even sure where to look as far as logs go when we see the problem.
    -Ian

You've patched up SLES and OES to the current patch level? What client OS and protocol is in use? What Novell client version, if any?

  • Volumes/folders for temporary files

Hello everybody. Can anyone explain how I can choose not only a volume for PS-temp-files but also a certain folder where PS should place it's tmp-files?
Our problem is that C:\ is full, and our admin is not amused to allow writing in the root of E:. Changing the system variable "temp" from "C:\temp" to "e:\temp" is "only a workaround and no solution" in his words. Any other ideas?
    Win XP, PS 12.03, x32

Your admin thinks that you writing files to other disks in your system is something he doesn't want to allow you to do, and he doesn't offer any help in cleaning up your C: drive (or getting you a bigger one or another one)?
Assuming you're telling the whole story, it sounds like you may need a new admin!  I'd suggest taking your inability to work this way up with your supervisor.
Here are observations about how Photoshop works:
Photoshop needs to write scratch files to the root folder of a drive letter on your system.
Photoshop writes some temporary files to the folder identified by your TEMP environment variable.
Photoshop may also, under some conditions, choose another (unspecified) folder, most likely a root folder of a drive letter on your system, to use for certain temporary files (e.g., those with _MVM_ in the name).
You can change the drive used for the scratch files using the Edit - Preference - Performance dialog, but Photoshop MUST have full permission to access the root folder of the drive.  That's just the way it's designed.
You can change your TEMP environment variable as you mentioned, and that can be effective for moving temporary file access off your burdened C: drive for not only Photoshop but a lot of other apps as well.
No one has been able to discover a reliable method of ensuring the _MVM_ temporary files are written to a specific place, though some have observed that if the TEMP drive has plenty of space then it tends to use the TEMP folder.  Last we heard from Adobe here on the forum on this subject, they were looking into where the Mondo Virtual Memory manager subsystem was programmed to write files.
    -Noel
P.S., While you're at it, you might inquire what plans your system administration people have for moving you off your obsolete operating system.  XP is getting awfully long in the tooth.  Maybe you can get a nice new computer out of the deal.

    Hi,
I am using BO  XI.31 which is installed on AIX 5.3 machine. I have installed Teradata driver on the machine and I have created the require ODBC.ini entry to point Teradata database. While refreshing the report I am getting below error message.

    Hi Jacks,
Following information might help you to resolve the issue.
This is caused by a wrong HOME environment variable of the user that starts the BO processes.
    Resolution
Check the correct path of your BO 3.1 installation and export it as HOME environment variable:
    Example:
    BO 3.1 installation path: /home/<bouser>/bo3.1/Enterprise12.0../...
    Type in the command line:
    export HOME=/home/<bouser>/boversion
You can also change this environment variable permanently if you edit the .profile file of the BO user (home/<username>/.profile), adding the above line into the file, then source it again with:
    . .profile
or with a logoff/logon of the session.
Check if the path of your HOME is correct with:
    env | grep HOME
Now you can run the installation setup without any error.

If you didn't save, nothing is recoverable.
iWork apps don't create temp files so, as far as you on't save something, Time Machine can't archive it.

  • Generation of temporary files by TUXEDO

We have a customer that has written their own implementation of a TMQFORWARD
server to drain a TUXEDO queue. This server regularly polls a queue and
drains all the messages from it. If there are no messages it has nothing to
do. Our customer however observed that, without any messages to be drained
from the queue, TUXEDO still creates temporary files in /var/temp and that
these files become larger and larger over time. In addition the memory usage
of the server process grows as well. The customer is running TUXEDO 6.5 on
HP-UX 11. Output of the tusc command is presented below. I have the
    following questions:
    1) Why are the msgsnd() and msgrcv() called if there's nothing to do?
    2) Why does TUXEDO try to access a temporary file and then create another
one if there's nothing to do?
    3) Does the BEA implementation of TMQFORWARD take any special precautions to
avoid the unnecessary creation of temporary files? Maybe our customer's
implementation is missing some essential element?
In addition a more general question: under what circumstances does TUXEDO
create temporary files apart from coping with large messages? Given the
amount of messages in the catalogues about temporary files, it is my
suspicion that TUXEDO uses temporary files in many situations - but these
    are not documented.
    Here's the tusc output:

One of the issues I have with a tpacall polling server is that for starters, the
service name has to be unique across all server instances, and secondly advertising
a service means that it can be called by any other server or client. By using
threads you have no advertised services for a periodic job, don't have to worry
about creating a unique service name and dynamically advertising it, and you don't
have to do tpacalls and place dummy messages on the servers IPC queue. A nice
way to do it is to spawn thread(s) in tpsvrinit, one thread per job. Each thread
sleeps for a configurable amount of time and then does it's job. Before doing
the job it locks a mutex to prevent jobs happening concurrently. In tpsvrdone
you lock the mutex to make sure all jobs are complete and then shutdown the threads.
Of course the tpacall way does work and is sufficient for most purposes, but
    I prefer the threaded way.

    Anthony,
    Thanks for the information.
Further investigation from our side revealed that the problem is caused
    by incorrect
buffer allocation and release when calling tpdequeue() from within the
    polling
    service.
This causes the buffer to grow continuously.
After some time the buffer becomes too big for the IPC queue used by
    the server
and we see the temporary files appear.
These grow as well and may become several Mb's in size, slowing down
    the server,
    of course.
The solution is simply to correct the buffer allocation and release calls
    (tpalloc(),
    tpfree()).
With regard to a polling server: I assume that your suggestion, to spawn
    a thread
will, work and that you have experience with it.
However, using tpacall() without a data buffer should work fine as well.
I have seen several locations where this mechanism is used.
It works satisfactorily for these customers and they have polling servers
    that
run continuously under heavy load until e.g. a TUXEDO reboot. No problem.
Apparently this shows once more that there are multiple ways to Rome.
    Cheers, Winfried

    I'm going
to guess that to do the polling, they do a tpacall with the TPNOREPLY
    flags set
to a service contained within the server, and this service is wherethe
    queue
is checked for messages. If this is the case, then they probably pass
    an input
buffer to the tpacall method. This input buffer normally gets placed
    on the
IPC queue of the server, but if the input buffer is too big, then it
    is written
to a temporary file in /var/tmp. The input buffer would have to befreed

the tpacall, otherwise it would cause a memory leak. Internally, tuxedo
    also
allocates memory to hold the input buffers pulled off the ipc queues,
    and keeps
an array of these for faster processing which can cause the tuxedo server
    size
to grow. I would ask your customer if they have implemented polling
    using tpacalls,
and to check the size of the buffers if they have done this. A better
    way to
implement a polling server is to spawn a thread that just sleeps and
    checks the
    queue periodically.

We have a customer that has written their own implementation of a TMQFORWARD
server to drain a TUXEDO queue. This server regularly polls a queueand
drains all the messages from it. If there are no messages it has nothing
    to
do. Our customer however observed that, without any messages to be
    drained
from the queue, TUXEDO still creates temporary files in /var/temp and
    that
these files become larger and larger over time. In addition the memory
    usage
of the server process grows as well. The customer is running TUXEDO6.5
    on
HP-UX 11. Output of the tusc command is presented below. I have the
    following questions:
    1) Why are the msgsnd() and msgrcv() called if there's nothing to do?
    2) Why does TUXEDO try to access a temporary file and then create another
one if there's nothing to do?
    3) Does the BEA implementation of TMQFORWARD take any special precautions
    to
avoid the unnecessary creation of temporary files? Maybe our customer's
implementation is missing some essential element?
In addition a more general question: under what circumstances does
    TUXEDO
create temporary files apart from coping with large messages? Giventhe
amount of messages in the catalogues about temporary files, it is my
suspicion that TUXEDO uses temporary files in many situations - butthese
    are not documented.
    Here's the tusc output:

  • The distribution agent failed to create temporary files in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\COM' directory. System returned errorcode 5.

One of my replication job failed with below error, which means job failed because of permission issue on the folder. To resolve that, I have granted the permission and it started working fine. Now the question is as my job was running fine since long time
without any issue then how suddenly the permission of the folder got omitted automatically? I am sure that no one deleted the permission from the folder and as the server is part of SQL cluster no failover occurs.

    Hi Rahul,
Error code 5 indicates that the error is "access is denied."  Please make sure that the COM folder is excluded from any antivirus scan that occurs on the system.
If the issue still persists, I recommend you use
Process Monitor to find out a bit more about the accounts and access requests involved. Then grant write permission to the exact COM folder for the account that is running the SQL Server Agent service. For more details, please review the following similar
    thread.

  • Distribution agent failed to create temporary files in

    Hello,
we are configured transnational replication in sql server 2005 location, all replication jobs are running fine,
while we checking sql server errorlog showing below error :
Distribution agent failed to create temporary files in  'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\COM' directory. System returned errorcode 5.
NOte: normally we are configured replication 2005 [90] , but while see the above error it shows [100] comparability level .

    Hi,
If the account that is running SQL Server Agent does not have write access to the COM folder, the Distribution Agent will fail
when it is running as a job. If you run the Distribution Agent from a command line by using an account that does not have write access to the COM folder, the same failure will occur.
    To work around this
issue, grant write permissions to the COM folder for the account that is running the SQL Server Agent service. If you run the Distribution Agent from a command line, grant write permissions to the COM folder for the account that you use to run the Distribution
    Agent.
