Terrible update

so i downloaded the new update and my phone is going crazy! none of my themes are there...even one i got after the lousy update! this is the worst "service" ive ever received from this company! they added apps i dont need or care about to use up loads of space and then i cant get other ones ive actualy paid for!! i am very pissed off to say the least. i think the people in charge of "improving" software need to actaully test their products before forcing everyone to download **bleep** to their phones!! if you have not downloaded this update yet...DONT!! think im ready to upgrade to an iphone...this is **bleep**!

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Right Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

ITunes 11.3 - freezing, clunky, beachball, broken - terrible update

Before I begin - can I just say that I love iTunes - and have used it for years and years - no probs. It's been a great app to manage my music and podcasts - which it has done flawlessly - until now that is....
Today updated to iTunes 11.3 - and all I can say is that I dearly wish I hadn't. I mainly use iTunes to manage my podcasts, and I subscibe to a lot of them- over 50 in fact.
However this version of iTunes for me is is totally unusable with them. I cannot scroll through podcasts lists, without it either jumping all over the place or the beachball showing up.
It has made what was a joy into a totally frustrating experience. This version of iTunes for me is basically broken.
and I know it can't just be me, cuz I have started to see other posts all over the interweb from others experiencing similar issues.
seems only to affect podcasts.
Basically version 10.7 was absolutely fine - But these latest versions of iTunes from 11.0 onwards have been utterely terrible
If anyone knows any solutions to the buggy, jumpy, clunky, beachball inducing issues that I am experiencing, please help to ease my pain.
For others - if you haven't upgraded - my advice is to think twice before you do.
For me, I think it's going to have to be a Time Machine roll back to better days.

It's still the same - I have basically totally reverted back to an old version of itunes - as it basically was stopping me from using / enjoying podcasts
and my old version of itunes (v10.7) works brilliantly with podcasts again on my iMac
Only downside is that I also had to roll back my iPhone ios back to 6 to work with it
But for now would rather have smooth scrolling podcasts than anything ios 7 can offer me
I just can't undersatnd why Apple have created a new version of iTunes that basically doesn't work properly - and at the end of the day scrolling a list of podcasts shouldn't be a difficult feature for them to implement? Very frustrating

OMG! Okay, sorry I have Vista, but Apple stop with the terrible updates!

I just updated to iTunes 9, now every time I go to play a video, TV show or movie, iTunes crashes and stops working. It plays music just fine but nothing video. I also can't see the video previews in the iTunes store. The window stays black. Anyone having this problem? I have TONS of videos and movies, I need my iTunes to work!!!!

A gentle suggestion: go to Discussions > iTunes for Windows -- there are 20,000 threads under downloading and installing iTunes for Windows there.
By the way, I, too run Vista (in a virtual machine on my Mac).

Any way of getting rid of this terrible update?

Was just wondering if there's anyway I can get this utter crap off my iPod, I want to get the old OS back. Also, my back up didn't work, meaning I no longer have any apps.

In case anyone else comes across this, the thread Demo linked to has the correct solution!
Go to Settings, then General, then Usage, and look through the list of apps that appears at the top! No need to go into "Manage Storage" which seems to refer to iCloud, in any event!
In my case, the top app is IOS 8.0 at 4.1 GB! Tap on it and the option is "Delete Update". So I did. Just wish that Apple would NOT automatically push a 4 GB file onto our devices.

After installing software update and restart, mail no longer opens.

After I installed a software update on 9-20-12, I got a message that "this version of Mail doesn't work with Mac OS X...open Mail from the applications folder." I tried this, but nothing happens when I click on the different looking mail icon. I dragged it to the desktop, was asked if I wanted to replace an older copy, so I said yes...now the icon is there to click on--nothing happens. This was not a major software update, just the updates that pop up periodically for software already installed. I have had 10.6.8 since computer was purchased...just a software update, no new version of anything, yet now my mail won't open. Any ideas? I have a backup from about 3 weeks ago...can I use this to uninstall this terrible update? It was a security update...secured my mail (from me!!).

Your Apple-installed Applications need to stay in the top-level Applications folder. If you have moved them, they will not be updated properly and may even be disabled or trashed.
Find the Mail Application, and be sure it is back in /Applications folder. Make sure there are no duplicates in other folders.
If it is still not working, you will need to run the Security Update (manually).
If it is gone, you will need to run the Combo update to install it again.

I actually had this same problem. For whatever reason I can't find / don't have the installation DVD for this brand new Mac Pro, I'm talking to the Mac authorized dealer I bought it from about that (bringing it in Monday), but I do have a full version of Leopard that I bought for my old G5 before it bit the dust, so I was trying to use that. Well, on 10.5.3, at least with my computer, you cannot install Leopard apparently. At least I've had no luck and this is the newest, most advanced Mac money can buy. I've run RAM tests on it, hard drives are new, I've tested them, etc. No luck at all. It will cause a kernel panic and you must unplug the DVD drive or somehow get that DVD out of there otherwise it will constantly cause a kernel panic upon startup. It's really ridiculous. 10.5.3 has been a terrible update, and I never should have made the mistake of installing it. Actually, I didn't, my editor did, but he shouldn't have been allowed to do so until a month or so of it being out.

A brilliant way of organising photos to my liking, now I have to do it the way Apple like it, terrible update, please undo it as soon as possible. Apple wants me to live on iCloud, but I work in Singapore and travel a lot in China, and don't trust the securities, or the authorities block me.

Updated my 3GS to iOS 6.1.3...

I use an iphone 3gs and i recently updated to ios 6.1.3.Nnow I can't connect to gamecenter(as in it just has that annoying spinner on every tab inside it), or open safari(as in it crashes) and everytime I open an app that relies on wifi, it tells me to sign in to gamecenter so I put in my apple ID and it just won't sign me in. Any fixes for this or is this just a terrible update?

Have read a lot of nightmare stories about this being a terrible update (can't connect to wi-fi, etc) and to stick with 6.0.1. Is this still the case or have the bugs been worked out? I'm tired of seeing the little red 1 on my Settings icon, but I will not update if there are still issues. Thanks for any input!

I read a lot of issues people were having with connecting to wi-fi, having wi-fi drop on them, or unable to connect to networks that previously were easily connected to. Did I read some misinformation?

Is there a way to not update an application on an Ipad2?

I downloaded the new version 3.0 update for nook on my Ipad2, but it is a terrible update. I have the previous version on my PC. Is there any way to restore the old version to my Ipad, and to keep it from syncing the new version next time I sync my devices?

The PC version has nothing to do with the iPad version unless you are saying that you have a backup of the iPad with the older version of the Nook app on it or you still have the old version in your iTunes library.
If you still have the older version - in the iTunes library on your PC - just delete the app from the iPad and the sync the old version to your PC again.
You cannot downgrade to an older app version once you have updated it. The only other thing that MAY work is for you to restore your iPad from an old backup that has the older version on it. However, iPad backups only contain data and app settings - not the apps themselves - as far as I can remember. If you try a restore, you may end up with the updated version anyway when you sync with iTunes

How do you get Illustrator 4 Photocopy effect to work in color?

In previos versions of Illustrator, I could take a fill object ..with any color applied, and add the photocopy effect. This was a great tool to use, to illustrate and give texture to large patches of colors, which I used all the time in our site plan renderings (gras lawn effects).
Now in version CS4, when I go t oapply the photocopy effect to a fill, it automatically drops the color and changes the object to black and white. This defeats the purpose of being able to apply an effect to a colored object if the setting returns the color to BW. Not sure if I have something clicked wrong somewhere in Illustrator.. or is some programmer actually made this change... and dear god please change it back... it is a terrible update.
Help I need to apply effects to colored fills.... especially the photocopy effect.

Here is a sample image from a previous plan completed a few versions back.
All that was done.. was to create a green fill, hundreds in this map. Have all lawn elements on a single layer. Select the layer, apply the photocopy effect, change the detail and darkness options to achieve this look and apply. It kept the green color, and applied the photocopy effect to the fills.
Now it changes the object or objects to black and white. The plans that are rendered are to large to rasterize and recolorize objects. Copy the lawn layer with all the filled objects, placing the copied layer on top and applying the photocopy effect to it, plus a transparency... then shifts the color rendition of the underlying object.. I am playing a guessing game of transparency adjustment and, picking the correct green shade underneath to achieve the same effect, almost impossible to match and way to time consuming.
I cannot get blending to work on separate fills with the photocopy and based on trial and error with that method... applying the effect to hundreds of fills would crash the file and my system.
What was... was perfect...now.. a great simple effect has been removed from my toolbox... struggling with finding a replacement.

IWeb 1.1 is totally useless - avoid it

I upgraded to iWeb 1.1 yesterday and since then I have been totally unable to publish my two web sites.
I am getting continual errors of all kinds, for instance :-
Halfway through the upload I am told the internet connection is not available, so it fails.
or
My iDisk quotas can't be read (which they clear can as I can see them in iWeb)
or
It fails loading an image (never the same one each time I try)
or
I get another error message with some gibberish and a long file name.
Basically I have not been able to publish anything since the upgrade.
Also when I check the network traffic while it is trying to do the upload, once it fails the traffic continues and it still uploads data, but what? iWeb continues to send data even after it had errored and says it has stopped.
I have tried creating a new site and still get the same issues, fails at some point in the upload.
This is a really terrible update and I only hope I can reinstall iWeb 1.0 and republish my sites that way.

Yeah. I can totally understand your frustration.
I think with regards to support it is tricky. As someone who has had to give technical support on many occasions it becomes difficult to pin down when the problems are not across the board. So some people have no problems and others like yourself have quite a few. If everyone had the same problems you can pin down the issue pretty much straight away by looking for the common factors.
I think that is what makes this tricky. Its the fact that not everyone is having the same issues.
What is unique about this update is it is actually structured more like an upgrade than an update as it is adding new features. If it was just addressing issues with existing features it would probably be relatively problem free but as they have added new features there is only a certain amount of testing they can do. As someone who has had experience with this. Trust me there are many problems which only become apparent after release. I am not saying that makes it okay by any means.
Usually in these instances with any regular upgrade it would be given to beta testers for a significant period of time but this is something that is seldom possible with an update due to time constraints and user demand.
What you may find, is an iWeb 1.1.1 update very soon.
So I completely understand your frustrations. I really do. Its just as someone who hasn't really come across any issues (yet at least) I can't complain about this update.

Why is firefox 29 so ugly?

What made you guys decide to release an update that forces the interface to smash everything together in a terrible mess at the top of the window?
I appreciate that you guys did research to arrive at the new layout but making a release that forces the change is quite dumb. The fact that I have to use addons to get my original interface back is frustrating and ashame.

Firefox developers collect data submitted through there then present it at the weekly Firefox meeting.

Emptying Safari's Cache?

Another problem with this disastrous Safari "update" is that as far as I can see you cannot empty safari's cache. Is this true? This is truly a terrible update and cannot understand how it even got passed!!!
Edit. You apparently have to go to Pref---> Advanced then tick 'Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar'!!!

Thanks a bunch for the info! I have taken an AppleScript & assigned it to an Automator Workflow which in turn I've assigned to iCal to schedule for a weekly or monthly emptying of Safari's Cache. Now websites will always load as they should!
