Test Agent - QTAgentProcessUI - Display on Startup Problem

Hello,
Currently we have a suite of VM's setup on Amazons Web Services (AWS) that have been configured with TFS 2013 Test Agents. These Agents are configured in Interactive Mode as we are attempting to automate our CodedUI tests. Everything is working correctly
with our Test Controller and Test Agent setup. I am using Agents for TFS 2013 Update 4.
The problem is with the QTAgentProcessUI.exe and the "Display this window at startup" checkbox. No matter how many times I uncheck this option to mark it as "do not display this on startup", every single time after a restart, the checkbox
is checked again and the window is displayed.
If i also uncheck this box, perform a correct "Quit" of the application and then fire it up again, the application returns and the checkbox is clicked on again.
I have done some research and the only other solution someone recommended was to do a complete reinstall of windows. I have tried this and I still have the same problem. I've even tried setting up some Powershell scripts to find the QTAgentProcessUI process
and Close the main window, which works if I run the script directly but fails for unknown reasons when run during a Build.
This is becoming a real problem as it is blocking the test application and therefore our tests fail. I'm at my wits end and would just like this tool to work as it's obviously meant to and I'm all out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on
how to fix this?

  • G5 Dual 2.3 PPC Startup problems

    Hi
About every other time I start up the computer, nothing comes on the display, and within 1-2 minutes the fans start to accelerate out of control. I then push and hold the start button to abort the startup.
After 10 seconds I startup again, and then it starts up right.
What could be the problem? I am afraid that someday it won't start up at all, which is a big problem since I am running a recording studio, and need to have stable gear.
    Thanks

  • Can anyone diagnose my startup problem from this screen pattern?

After failing to startup my Mac on about 8 consecutive attempts today, I finally got it to boot up, and now I'm afraid to turn it off for fear that I won't be able to re-boot.
Here's a photo of what kept happening:
    http://www.doctorkeys.com/startup-problem-screen.html
This screen came up immediately, along with the spinning cog and the apple logo, both rather faint. But then those two disappeared, and all that was left was the gray screen with the pattern as shown in the photo. And that's as far as I got each time.
The display itself seems to be fine, because even when I couldn't use it with the Mac Pro, I was able to hook it up to my MacBook Pro and it worked fine.
Can anybody tell me what's happening?
    Thanks,
    Bruce Siegel

    Hi-
To be honest, though, I was hoping that the pattern in the photo was so specific and common that someone would look at it and say, "Oh, of course! I've seen THAT one before. Do this and your problem is solved."
I have seen graphics cards produce that type of screen as a result of a few of situations.
One, if the card is miss seated.
One other is if a capacitor on the card has failed, while VRAM failure is another cause.
The first case is easy to fix; remove and reseat.
The second and third require replacement of the failed graphics card.
Cleaning the gold contacts with 99% isopropyl alcohol and thoroughly dusting the card while it is out is a good idea.
I have been able to replace a bad capacitor to restore a card, but luck was a big part of determining which one it was....

  • Garbled display at startup when connecting to External Monitor - MBP Early 2011.

    Hi,
When i connect my Early 2011 MBP to an external display i get a garbled display at startup.
I then have to disconnect the hdmi cable to the external monitor, after which the display clears up (on the laptop) and then when i reconnect the external monitor, it works fine. The problem with this process is that i have to do it each time i start/boot my laptop with the external display connected. The display mode is currently set to mirror displays if that helps.
Would appreciate any advice users with this kind of set up can provide. Thank you in advance.

    Welcome!!
It could be that you are using the external in "mirrored mode" with the res set above the max res for the MBP screen. On my Late 2007 MBP, the F7 key toggles between mirrored mode and "spanning" (or "extended desktop") mode and System preferences will let you set the two displays independently. I use an external monitor in spanning mode and have not experienced a problem as I have the internal display prefs set to a comfortable res for its hardware.

  • Microsoft Test Agent appears to be blocking Outlook connectivity to Exchange

    Core Problem
The problem I am having is that connectivity to Exchange from Outlook is blocked while executing an integration test through the Microsoft Test Agent (i.e. Outlook
is in the disconnected state). The test is launched through Microsoft Test Manager.
Below is the code for the integration test I am having problems with and I simplified the code as much as possible to rule out code within the integration test
causing the problem. I also eliminated all other tests from running.
    [TestMethod]
    public void LaunchOutlook()
    Process.Start(new ProcessStartInfo(@"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Outlook.exe"));
    Thread.Sleep(120000);
I can change how long Outlook is blocked by changing the Thread.Sleep timeout. While the test is running, I can restart Outlook and Outlook is still blocked.
After the test ends while Outlook is still running, connectivity to Exchange is restored. This happens for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. If I run the integration test within a console app, Outlook connectivity is not blocked. If I run the test code manually
through MSTest.exe, Outlook connectivity is not blocked.  The only way it’s blocked is if the integration test is executed by the Microsoft Test Agent which is the required approach for integration testing.
    More details on the problem
Outlook is running on a machine that is part of a Hyper-V Lab with network isolation enabled. There are other machines within the same lab that have Outlook
instances pointed against the same Exchange server. Executing the test on one machine causes Outlook connectivity issues with other machines within the same lab where the Outlook instances are pointed at the same Exchange server.
I have small Hyper-V lab with network isolation enabled which is very similar to the lab mentioned above. The major difference is that it only has one machine
with Outlook installed. This Outlook is able to connect to Exchange while executing the test above through Microsoft Test Manager. It is very clear that this is an environmental issue since it works in one lab and not the other. Both labs have the same Exchange
server installed, and the same Microsoft Test Agent installed on all machines within the lab.
I have ruled out the Outlook version as being the issue since the larger lab contains the same Outlook version as the Outlook version in the smaller lab.
    During test run
Notice that Outlook is in the disconnected state.
    After test run.
Notice that Outlook is not connected to Exchange.
    Environment Information
    Outlook 2010 Version: (14.0.7113.5000) SP2 (14.0.1740.5002) 64-bit or 32-bit Outlook 2013 Version: (15.0.4667.1000) MSO (15.0.4675.1002) 64-bit or 32-bit Windows
    7 Version: 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
    Exchange 2013 Version: 15.0 ‎(Build 847.32)‎ Windows Server 2008 R2 Version: 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) Microsoft Test Manager 2013 Version: 12.0.31101.0
TFS 2013 Update 4 Version: 12.0.31101.0 Microsoft Test Agent Version: 12.0.31101.0 Update 4
    Troubleshooting Steps
I launched procmon and looked for failed TCP and UDP operations for indication of network failures and found none.
I turned on enable troubleshooting logging in Outlook and nothing within the logs looks obvious.
Pinging the Exchange server while the test is running still works.
I ran the integration test through the command line using MSTest.exe and outlook connectivity is not blocked.
    Requesting Help
Can you please help me troubleshoot this problem? I see two approaches to identifying the problem.
Looking for differences between the two environments
Obtaining logs or other information that would expose the core problem.
I am open to suggestions or ideas especially if you have a different approach to solving the problem. Feel free to ask for other information related to the problem
like logs, PowerShell commands, and registry values.
If you are short on time, can you at least post some suggestions or ideas related to resolving this problem?
    Thanks, Keith

After installing fiddler I figured out what the problem was. The Microsoft Test Agent was activating a proxy server which was blocking connectivity to exchange. The proxy server was activated due to having the ASP.Net Client Proxy for IntelliTrace and Test
    Impact turned on.
Below is a link to the article with the exact same problem.

  • Cisco Agent Desktop incorrect stats Agent Statistics Display

    Hi,
I have a very strange problem with a cisco agent desktop user. The times/numbers as displayed in the Agent Statistics Display are incorrect. As you can see from image 1, the agent was presented with 14 calls. The total talking time is 7:22. However if you look at the actual times from image two, and add those numbers you will have a total of 54:42 minutes:seconds. Also the Max talking is incorrect since this filed should display the longest call which has a length of 14:22 min:sec. Also the ready times max/avg and so are incorrect. It's like it's displaying numbers from a different agent however the number of calls presented is correct. If i look at this specific user from the supervisor tool the numbers are correct, see image 3. (in this image a 15th call was placed) I have reinstalled the agent desktop software but this has not solved this problem. I've done some googling but can't seem to find anyone with the same issue and/or a way to troublshoot this. Anyone have a clue?
    Image 1:
    Image 2:
    Image 3:

    Hi Anand,
I've looked at the historical reports. Nothing weird there. The 14 minute call came directly from outside, no transfeer or anything. And even if this was the case then the 2nd longest inbound call is 8:30 and not 3:08. Also if you take the sum of all inbound call times you get almost 55 minutes. The difference is too much as the Toal Talking time displayed is 7:22. Also from the supervisor tool I do see the correct numbers.
    Thanks again.

  • Test Manager cannot install Test Agent on selected VMs (trying to create a new environment)

I am trying to create a new SCVMM environment.
I picked a bunch of VMs that are up and running.
I know the administrator credentials for these VMs (It's the same for all of the chosen VMs)
I have a test controller on my dev machine which is also up and running.
But I'm getting an error in the Verification step saying -
"Microsoft test manager cannot install test agent on these machines. Possible causes:
    - Machines are not running or they are not available on the network.
    - The File and Printer sharing exception is not enabled on the machines."
I have done the following -
    1) Disabled firewalls on all the machines
    2) Network Adapters on all the machines are connected (ON) and their drivers are up to date
    3) Enabled file and printer sharing exceptions on all machines
    Still getting the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a bunch!

That's probably a very well written description of what
you've done... it seemed refreshingly thorough. I'm on the verge of
a cold or something, with a slightly fuzzy brain, so what I thought
I read seemed to describe you've done just about everything
correctly, except for one thing (maybe another)... If you gave the
    button the instance name stepin...
    stepin.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,
    mouseDownHandler);
and you could/should change that from MOUSE_DOWN to CLICK
If that's not the problem, then it is possible the issue
arises due to the tween. Be sure to have the button instance name
assigned at both ends of the tween (I'm assuming by classic tween
you mean a timeline tween). For some reason objects don't like to
give up some of their past life's properties when moving from one
frame to the next, so if the beginning of the tween doesn't have an
instance name, then it's likely that it stays that way when it
reaches the other end despite you assigning the name there.
PS - for the stepin button, if you haven't already done so,
you should open it for editing and draw a rectangle in the 4th
(Hit) frame that covers the entire area of the text. It will not be
visible, but will allow clicking between letters in the button...
making it easier to click on

  • TFS 2012 Test Agent keep alternating status Online/Disconnected

    TFS 2012 environment
Test Controller and Agent Update 3.
We are using a shadow account to connect the Agent (not on domain) to the Controller (on domain).
The problem I'm having is that the Test Agent Status alternates constantly between Online and Disconnected.
I have all TCP and UDP ports open in the Firewall on the Agent and Controller (can't just turn it off because of policy settings).
I have created an environment in Lab Center and can kick off a Lab Template based build definition to execute an automated test.  The process get to a point of wait for the the test environment to be ready, starts a test execution, and completes the
test run with a Warning: "An error occurred while communicating with Agent vstfs:///LabManagement/TestMachine/###", where ### is a three digit number.
If I just sit and watch the Test Agent status, with no test runs running, the status will show Online for about 10-15 seconds and then show Disconnected for about 30-60 seconds.  And then it repeats.
Another thing to mention, the Test Controller for this effort was cloned from a previous Test Controller that was used for another project.  The previous Controller was on the domain at the time of being cloned and had issues of being the same computer
name on the network and then other issues because the Controller was already assigned to a collection.  Another person here went through a process of fixing by uninstalling the controller software and then deleting some XML files that were left behind
after uninstalling the controller software.  I feel that a new controller should be created from scratch because I feel that there is still some conflicts between the old and new Controllers.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have additional information to supply to this thread for the benefit of others who may come across this issue.
The main issue of using the same version of Test Manager with the version of TFS you have running is the first part.
After this post, I added additional testing environments and virtual machines in SCVMM and started having the "Online/Disconnected" issue again.  With more research, I figured out that I had to add the IP address and host name of
the Test Controller to the hosts file on the Test Agents (path to the
hosts file "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\").  Just open this file in NotePad (or the editor of your choice) and add a line at the end with the IP and host name.
    Example hosts file:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    # For example:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost
    123.456.78.9 computername.domain.com
I have used this several times and it has worked every time (so far) where I use shadow accounts in the TFS test environments.  Hope this helps!

  • MacPro Early 2008 Display/Video Card Problem

*Hello, I have a Dual Quad-Core 2.8Ghz MacPro (Early 2008) with the stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB Video Card. I believe I am having the exact same symptoms listed on the topic "Mac Pro 2008 Video Card Problem".*
*MacPro has been working fine. Until one day, I power it on and the display stays black. There is nothing you can do besides holding down the power button and rebooting the computer. I have tried to do this many times and the display will not come up. I have also tried resetting the VRAM and PRAM settings - still did not work. I have had my MacPro for about one year and a half. It is in very good condition (no damage/no liquid/no overheating). From time to time, you power on the computer and the display works! It is very random. I am scared to turn off the computer or put it to sleep as this can also trigger the problem.*
*I did not get the extended AppleCare (the MacPro itself already cost me about $3400!) I tested the Cinema Display and it is fine, therefore the problem is not coming from the display.*
*I went to the Apple Store and they kept my MacPro for one night. Called me the next day telling me it was going to cost me approximately $800 in order to fix this problem. They claimed that either my Bluetooth module or my Main Logic Board was causing the display not to show. I am out of warranty, and I think it is very expensive. I am doing my research online in order to try and find a cheaper solution. After reading the discussions and checking out some other websites. I have a few questions:*
*If I buy a NEW* ATI Radeon HD 2600 and install it in my MacPro - will it fix my problem?*
*OR - I also heard about the ATI Radeon HD 4870 - Is that graphic card compatible with my MacPro - will that resolve the problem?*
*Do you think I should give it a shot? Are there any other things I can try?*
*I am thinking that I should try to replace the graphic card first and see if that is causing the problem instead of replacing the Main Logic Board right away (which will cost me over $500)*
*Please let me know of any thoughts that come in mind. I really need some support. I am a college student studying Audio Engineering and I use my MacPro everyday on Pro Tools and Logic. This machine is my life.*
    *Thank You,*
    *Kevin C.*

Glad you solved your problem Gaunja. Here's an update on my own.
When last heard from I had diagnosed the failure of my displays to boot up to graphics card problem in my early 2008 Mac Pro with my stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 by swapping out the same card from my son's Mac Pro and seeing the displays boot up fine. Before heading off to the Apple store for a new card I reinstalled my suspect video card just to see what would happen. The displays booted up fine. Now, two weeks later, again no video display--black screens--no signal from the graphics card. I rebooted the computer several times to no avail and was, again, about to head off to the Apple store for a new card. This time "just to see what would happen" I moved the graphics card to another slot and bingo, the displays are up. What can be determined from my experience to date?
    1. The graphics card is flirting with death. Like a patient unwilling to die, through a mysterious force, it rallies to live another day.
    2. The slot the card came installed in is unreliable--it's dirty, there's a spec of dust in there, a contact has degraded after two years, or some other slot related fault. Note that, until the card failed for the first time, it had never been removed from it's slot, the computer was treated gently, and it operated in a very clean environment.
If anyone has another theory about what may be happening here please feel free. I fully expect the displays to go dark again at some point as my suspicions are that it's the card itself that is the problem. The two replacement cards I'm considering are the ATI Radeon HD 4870 or the Nividia Geo Force GT120. I've read that both work with the early Mac Pros. Some complain that the ATI card is noisy and expensive. Based of Gaunja's post and others I think the Nividia card will suit my needs, be quieter, and cost less. But, for now, my stock ATI Radeon 2600 lives!
Just one man's experience with the "Mac Pro display, black screen" problem.

  • X-Fi: No sound at startup: Problem detected, cause still unkno

After a minucious analysis of my problem with the SB X-Fi(see my previous posts), I think I have pinpointed it.
Problem: There's no sound at startup, even if everything looks fine. Suddenly, sounds comes (sooner or later), and it stays, even after rebooting. Next day, there's no sound again.
    My system info:
    Motherboard: Asrock Conroe 945G-DVI
    Memory: Kingston DD2 Gb
Hard Disk: Western Digital SAT2 200JS
I have some enigmatic things in Device Administrator > Audio, Video and Game Devices:
    - Audio Codecs
    - Video Codecs
    - Inherited Audio Drivers
    - Inherited Video Capture Drivers
    - Multimedia Control Drivers
    - Creative SB X-Fi
I don't know that they are, whether I should delete them or not... there are no exclamation marks, but the X-Fi works erratically.
Any ideas or suggestions, please? The system is brand-new, and I'm completely baffled.

I took my computer to the retailer. After fi've days, they sent it back to me with a note saying : After fi've days of testing, no error found. No problems found.
Cool. First day, I had sound at startup. Everything was nice. Yesterday, I had sound at startup. Nice. Today, suddenly, I no longer have sound.
I'm completely baffled. Could it be the speakers? I have the 2700 Inspire Speakers by Creative, and when I was installing the X-Fi card there was a message about this particular set, but I didn't read it, and I'm unable to find it again.
Can ANYONE please suggest anything to me? I don't know what to do.

  • Startup problem - won't get past grey apple

I have a G5 2.3DP here that refuses to startup. You get a startup chime, then the dark grey apple on light grey background and nothing more - no indeterminate progress indicator (spinning wheel) or anything. This is true for trying to start it from the internal drive, install DVD or even external FW drives so implies a hardware problem.
It will start up into the Hardware Test on the original install DVD, but running the test (even on extended) reveals no problems.
I have also changed the PRAM battery just in case.
Also, starting in verbose mode reveals it doesn't get past 'DART Enabled', whereas another G5 starting in verbose mode goes on to deal with the firewire ports. And was is DART anyway?
    Any thoughts/suggestions most welcome

severe damage to the directory, can cause and prevent booting from any drive or device until you unplug the drive.
put it in a fw case and don't turn on until the system is up, then run Disk Warrior or TTPro or Drive Genius 2.
hum... no idea what DART is about though. but have seen corrupt directory block booting. Worse, if the journal is damaged and need to disable it first and then reenable, but boot from another drive first to do so.

  • Startup problem on my G4

    hi to all!
Something that happened a couple of times (so far) with my Gigabit Ethernet: I switch the Power Mac on, then when I come back a few minutes later the monitor is on (well, it’s always on...), but the led is on orange, as when the Mac is off, and the Pro Mouse (attached to the keyboard) seems dead, as there’s no red light coming from it... however the Mac is indeed on, same noise (fan) as usual, and if I open the case everything seems ok and the internal red led is on. Then, both times, by pushing the restart button the G4 quickly loaded Tiger. First time everything seemed all right, but today the monitor changed its brightness all by itself a few times... and I’ve realized I had this sort of problem in the previous days too, but much less often and I hadn’t paid much attention to it.
I’ve guessed all these could have been caused by faulty Ram modules, something I already experienced last September, and solved thanks to this forum (even if last time the problems were of a different kind), or there are other possible causes?!?
Anyway, then I’ve run Rember, and the first time it was soon stuck while running Linear PRN, then I run it another time and... Rember went through all tests with no errors! Then one more test and again there was an error at the Linear PRN stage.
When I got the error free test I had told Rember to close also the Finder, while during the other 2 tests the Finder was on... and I wonder if this matter or not.
I guess all this confirm it’s a Ram problem, and tomorrow I’ll start checking what happens removing (or leaving) one module at a time... but I’m perplexed by the mixed results Rember gave me today: should I check every combination I’ll try more than once to be sure Rember results are ok or not?
    Thanks
    Stefano

ok, last Saturday I first run a few more times Rember, and got mixed results, but at least on half there was an error at the Linear PRN stage (and contrary to the first 3 tests, there was no patter in running the test with or without the Finder on), then I uninstalled one of my two 512 MB modules, the one I got new and installed last year btw, and after this on Sunday and today I've run Rember several times with always error free tests... I guess I've already found the faulty module, and the startup problem should be solved (as it occured only twice before, and a couple of weeks apart, I can't be 100% sure)... the drawback is that I'm back to 896 MB Ram, but I should get a new (and hopefully working) 512 MB module in a few days.
However, yesterday morning, soon after the startup of the Power Mac I noticed a few changes of brigthness of the screen... but I guess it should be a problem of the monitor, as in the last couple of days I also run several times CPUTest and always without any error in the tests
