Testing for concurrency .. How to simulate multiple concurrent sessions?

All,
I was going through Tom Kyte's Expert Oracle one on one and he explains how we can test the scalability of queries by running them concurrently for multiple sessions.
My (rather naive) question is how do you simulate those five concurrent sqlplus sessions?
a). Do you just do an alt + tab to each session and run the same procedure?
(I did this for two sessions and was able to see the wait times etc.. but for more sessions (5.or more.) ,the approach doesn't look right..By the time I go to the 5th session and execute it, the first one is way under progress. Also, It is clearly evident they are not all concurrent sessions.
b) Schedule 5 different jobs to run the same procedure at the same time..?
Any other approach...?

There are also many other ways to achieve that.
For example
a self developed multithreaded client application that connects several times, the best one in my opinion for simulating heavy loads,
or
background commands ( submitted with a final "&" in a unix shell or with the equivalent Start-PSJob in the new Microsoft powershell v2 )
But the reason to choose among one of them only depends by the specific case and your preferences.

How to open multiple Forms sessions

How do I open multiple sessions of Oracle Forms on the same Client machine. Right now if I have a Forms session open, when I open a new browser session and type in the URL it takes me back to the Oracle Forms session which I have open. I am running Forms 6i on 9iAS on a Solaris machine. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

How to select multiple values from the Parameters in the concurrent program

How to select multiple values from the Parameters defined in the concurrent program...and i believe multiple selection is not a direct feature of EBS, but is there any workaround solution to acheive mulitple selection?

I think there's no way to do that using standard feature.
Some workaround I use :
1. If the number of selections are fixed, you could use multiple parameters for the same valueset. For example :
Selection1 : <choose first selection>
Selection2: <choose 2nd selection>
..etc.
If you don't use it then leave it empty.
2. Use text varchar valueset and enter it manually and separate by comma (or other value) , eg : selection1,selection2,selection3....etc.

How could i define that user define data type at database level in oracle applications using 'Value set' ?

Don't think this can be done..
One way I can think of is to wrap your PL/SQL program under another procedure/package that can accept "normal" parameter,and use/register this wrapper instead of your original pl/sql program.

Here is how to enable your alerts.
1. From the Mobile Email application, select the desired email account then press the center of the 5-way navigation pad to choose Select.
If prompted enter the username and password, then press the center of the 5-way navigation pad to choose Sign In.
2. Press the right soft key to choose Options.
3. Select Settings then press the center of the 5-way navigation pad to choose Select.
For AOL / AIM select Preferences.
4. Select the desired setting then press the right soft key to choose Save.
To disable the email alerts:
Select Disable or Never.
To enable email alerts:
Select Enable or Always.
To receive email during a desired time interval:
Select Only During then enter the desired time interval.
This setting may not be available on all handsets or accounts. Hope this helps

SESSION VARIABLES : HOW TO TEST FOR MULTIPLE USERS

I have a username session variable set up on a localhost testing envirnoment.
This works fine for one user, but when I open another occurence of the browser (or just another tab) to test for multiple users the system overwrites the session variable with the last username input.
So the question is:
Why doesn't dreamweaver hold an instance of the session variable for each browser session? and if not what are your suggestions?

Thanks for that.
After scouring the internet I found the only way of running 2 instances of firefox without them sharing the session variables is to create 2 new firefox profiles in windows + set the MOZ_NO_REMOTE environment variable.
Internet explorer is much easier as it has a 'new session' option in the file menu, but seems to have more trouble displaying tables correctly.
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.

OAM alerts setup for Concurrent services down using workflow mailer

We have ORacle Ebiz 12.0.6 with 10.2.0.4 database.
Can some one please provide details how to end notification email for Concurrent services down using OAM in R12 with workflow.
I have done the setup in clone with workflow up and running... and have also setup the alerts for example say:
Service manager ---Down,Up in OAM through sysadmin user but when i bring down the Service manager form
Concurrent manager administer form ...No email notifications are fired.
Please share knowledge on this issue...

Load testing with concurrent users on HTTP Web

Hello,
I am trying to do load testing my PHP Web Application.
I record (with Firefox) and developed the testing script with OpenScript,
but I found that I could only test with "Iteration" feature.
Is there any way to do load testing with concurrent users ( multi users login at the same time ) which defined in databank?

You need to load the script into OLT (Oracle Load Testing) you can download it from here you need the first link Oracle Application Testing Suite and run the OATSxxx.exe to install OLT.

How to open multiple sessions for one user?

Sorry for the silly question but I couldn't find it googling or searching through this forum, so I started wondering whether it's possible in SQL Developer to open multiple sessions for one user. I'm fairly new to SQL Developer and databases in general.
When I open SQL Developer and connect to a schema, a worksheet opens named MYSCHEMA. If I disconnect then connect, another worksheet opens, named MYSCHEMA~1. I assumed these were different sessions, but if I enter into one worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 1
update my_table set col1 = 0 where row_id = 1
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 0and then enter into the second worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 0I would have expected the second worksheet to report 1 because the first worksheet did not issue a COMMIT. Thus, I'd guess both worksheets are the same session? Is that right? If so, how do I have two sessions open simultaneously (opened by same user)?

Ctrl-Shift-N doesn't do anything for me. I'm on a mac -- by experimenting it looks like command-N does what you're looking for. This appears to be the same as left-clicking on the "New" icon in the top left corner of SQL Developer, or selecting from the pull-down menu, File > New.
This opens "Create a New" window that appears to be a wizard. What would I select at this point? Options are: Database Connection, Table, View, Package, ...
I don't see an option for "Worksheet".
UPDATE:
OK, I found that if I select "SQL File", a worksheet becomes available. Perhaps this is what you intended. However, when I issue the command
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1;it still returns 0 instead of 1. Hmm, maybe my initial assumption was wrong -- if this is a second (e.g. different) session, should I expect the changes made in the first session in SQL Developer (the UPDATE command) WITHOUT a commit, to be observed in this second session? I thought that changes made in one session were not viewable in a different session until these changes are committed in the first session? If so, how to show this in SQL Developer? I must be missing something basic here.
Or, is SQL Developer issuing some sort of "auto-commit" without my knowledge?

I am writting a test using a sequencer to test for multiple button click

I'm using flex sdk 4.1 and have a situation where a button click is sometimes called twice. I am writting a test for this using a sequencer and it will run for at least one button click, what I am not sure is how to test for multiple click events(which shouldn't happen, but occours randomly in my project)

The only way you could test for that type of circumstance... one where something may happen... is to do so with a timeout. In other words, you cannot let the test pass simply because the first event occurred.
Two ways to handle this... with sequences:
Instead, you write a test that expects 2 clicks. In the assertion handler (which would only be reached if both clicks occur) you would fail the test:
fail('i shouldnt be here');
In the Waiter for the 2nd click, you would specify a timeout handler. That timeout handler will get called in the 2nd click does not occur in the specified time... (finding that time is the hard part). The default timeout handler fails the test, however, in your case, your timeout handler would just happily do any assertions needed and move on. A timeout does not necessarily mean failure... in your case, it is correct
Second choice:
You could create a timer. Create an event handler for the button click which increments a counter. Start the timer, do your test. However, have your test pending on the timer's completion rather than something like the click.. In that case, you would then be able to just check the count:

However, I can't imagine how the test you are describing could ever yield more than one click event... I am guessing the problem is elsewhere, but this will help you verify

How do emulate multiple calls to same end point in Composite Test Suite

Can any one help with a problem I face with a composite test suite? I have a composite that has 5 main activities and after each activity it logs a status in a business database. This uses the same end point each time to log a status just passing a different status at each point.
When I create a test in the SOA Suite test suite I can create an Assertion for the first status call to check that the status us being created correctly but the second time the end point gets called the status is different and therefore the overall test fails.
Does anyone know how I can create multiple assertions in a test for the same end point in the same test?

What do you mean about the above message? I wonder if you want to let the client to reference to the service which is now in the solution, but not pointing to a service on your test server. If so, first please try to make sure that service
which is now in the solution can work well. After that please try to use the "Add Services Reference" to help you reference the service which is now in the solution. Once it finishes, you can get the correct endpoint address in your client config
file.
Besides, if your service is a self-host application, you can change the service address in the service side by modifying the baseaddress, if your service host in the IIS, you can modify the service address by doing some IIS configuration.

I'm currently researching what minimum number of switches need to be set to activate external person id. We do not have concurrently employed employees, but have employees changing countries which result in multiple pernrs for a single employee. I do understand that the central person object "CP" in OM can be used. But, we are exploring the possibility of using external person id to tie all these pernrs as another alternative.
I tried activating the following switches for concurrent employment
CCURE MAINS = 'X'
CCURE PAUIX = X
CCURE     PIDGN = 2
CCURE     PIDSL = X
When a new employee is hired the system should generate external person id in IT 0709. But this infotype is not created. I also tried running the program HR_CE_GENERATE_PERSONID_EXT for a single employee. But I get an error message stating that the person id switch is not activated. I also tried manually creating this infotype in PA30. But the system generates an error message that IT 0709 is not available in the system. Do we need to perform any other technical conversions or structure generations in order to use concurrent employment functionality. We are currently on 4.7
