Testing Loads with Only Part of a File

I'm trying to figure out how to test my load processes by loading only the first 100 or 1000 records instead of an entire file of 70,000 records. This process will save me considerable time in testing my mappings. I've tried a few ways like limiting with a where clause and rownum <1000 without success.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Jim,
There are a few ways to do what you would want to do:
- Rename the current file to something else, create a copy with the same name as the current file and remove all but 700 records.
- Add a filter to the mapping, using a condition that only the first approximately 700 records would fulfill (I presume you use SQL Loader to load the data), re-deploy and then execute.
- If you use external tables, you can do a regular filter, using a reference to rownum.
Hope this helps,
Mark.

  • HTML website, SWF do a load animation only once. Same file used on all pages?

    Hey all,
    Just going through some thinking here. My HTML website is
    going to using a flash header and navigation. Now I will be using
    the same swf's on all of the pages across the site. I would like to
    play a loading animation only on the first time the swfs are
    loaded. Is there a way to do this? Or because I am using the same
    swf's will it be okay to just tell my mc to go sit on a specific
    frame and because it is in the cache each page will be using the
    same file so the mc will still be at that frame or???
    And help would be nice...

    While Breqent is right that server side includes are the best way of doing this if you aren't up on
    server side coding then you can use Dreamweaver to manage you menu.
    You do this by simply ensuring you never edit the menu area on any individual page.
    It should therefore be identical on all page and as such you can just use find and replace across the entire site or folder to edit all occurances of your menu.
    I hope this helps.

  • HOW CAN I USE TIME MACHINE TO BACKUP ONLY PART OF MY FILES ON EXTERNAL D?

    Hi, I am using time machine to back up all my files at the moment. but I want to get rid of video and photo material from my laptop and keep it on the external hard drive to which the time machine backs up my stuff.
    how can i do this without losing the video and photo files permamnently?
    thank a lot!

    nefsi wrote:
    doesn't time machine back up my files on the External hard disk?
    By default, Time Machine backs-up almost everything on your internal HD to your External HD. It can also back up things on an external HD, if you want it to.
    What I would like is, to find a way so that I could back up everything, but not have all the videos and photos I do not use often, on my laptop. instead I want to put them on the external hard drive and have time machine update all the other files.
    Yes, you can do that, but there are two considerations:
    You should partition the external HD so the TM backups are in one partition, and the other files are in the other partition. A partition (also called a volume), is treated like a separate disk for most purposes. See #3 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
    You should find another way to back-up the videos and photos in that other partition, such as archiving them to CDs/DVDs.
    In other words, can Time machine back up only some of my files?
    Yes. You can exclude things from Time Machine. See #10 in the FAQ Tip. If you partition your TM drive, the other partition on it should be excluded automatically; but if it isn't, you can easily add it to the +Do not back up+ list in TM Preferences > Options.
    For detailed instructions on making another partition on your external HD, see #6 in the FAQ Tip. It shows how to add a TM partition to a drive that already has other data on it, but the procedure is the same.

  • DEBMAS with only part of contact persons?

    Hi there,
    if we send in a DEBMAS IDoc that contains only a subset of contact persons of a customer, the inbound process will remove all other contact records from KNVK. We tried different MSGFN values, without success.
    Is there any way we could send via DEBMAS only updated contact persons without loosing existing contact records not beeing sent with current IDoc?
    Best regards,

    Hi Gordon,
    this is incorrect.
    ADR3MAS is part of address management.
    It contains the address part of a contact persons.
    This is not directly related to customer contact person.
    Distributing ADR3MAs will never create a customer contact person on its own.
    If send alone, it will only creates an orphaned contact person address.
    What is correct in your reply is the fact DEBMAS do not distribute 100% accurate address data.
    So to succeed to have a completely correct and accurate customer master distribution you MUST setup a distribution where the Address idocs ADR1MAS, ADR2MAS, ADR3MAS are sent as well as DEBMAS idocs.

  • Printing to PDF creates document with only part of the printout, improperly sized

    I am printing from a windows application with my Adobe Acrobat Standard 10.1.9, and when it prints (to a standard Portrait size document), only about 25% of the document appears in the PDF, as if I had told it to zoom in on the document.
    I want the PDF to comtain the complete document, fit to one portrait sized sheet of paper.  I want this to be the default behavior.
    Help!

    Ok, I think I found what needs to be changed, but I cannot set it "permanently" - that's what I need to figure out now.
    When it comes up with the print dialog, I choose Adobe Acrobat as my printer, and then in the print dialog, there is a properties button.  That opens a window and one of the options is labeled "Adobe PDF Page Size" - this seems to default to be blank.   If I set that to "Letter" everything works as I want.
    So the question is, how do I make "Adobe PDF Page Size" default to "Letter" under the Adobe Acrobat properties?

  • How to create a Jar with only class files?

    Dear all,
    I want to create a jar file with only classes.My class files and java files are in different folders under com .
    say
    com
    in com there are two folders
    folder 1 -- subfolder 1
    folder 2 -- subfolder 2
    like this.
    If i want to create a jar file from com directory how should i give the jar command.Again my jar should contain only .class files.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks
    lekshmi

    It doesn't work.Says "No such class or directory"
    Any other way Or is it possible to do so?Read the link I posted and create the statement to make your structure. I was thinking you were inside the com directory but if you are above it you will need something like this instead:
    jar -cf test.jar com\*.class com\subfolder1\*.class com\subfoler2\*.class
    But either way don't just copy and past this. Think about what is does so that you can make it work for you.
    Also, you might want to look into using Ant if you are going to be building this a lot.

  • Delete data from DSO only with a part of the key

    Hi experts,
    I have a DSO with 9 key fields and i want to delete some entrys. Our source system only provides 2 fields of the key. My problem is, that the BI is not able to delete from DSO unless I have the full key.
    Now I want to get the rest of the key fields from the active table of the DSO. Can sombody help me please with the ABAP Code? Or is there another possibility?
    I already found this thred in SDN but this is for BW 3.5:
    Delete data from ODS with only part of the key
    Thanks
    Ralf

    Ralf,
    the thread pointed out by you is for passing deletion entries to the DSO / target using the deletion entries .. namely recordmode = D.
    Are you looking at deleting data from the DSO as a one time activity or you want to handle the same using a start / end routine ...? and pass deletion entries to other data targets which get the data from this DSO ?

  • Delta update data error. Can we do a full load with bad records?

    Hello,
    We are working with SAP BW 7.0. And we had a problem with a delta update. It has made the delta update correctly, however, a register is loaded incorrectly, when this register was correct in the source system.
    We just made a load of that record and now we have it right in the master data. But we must now update the InfoCube. The data came up with a delta load, and now to load only this record we must make a full load (with only 1 register), then in the infocube make a delete selection of the wrong record.
    The problem is that we have doubts about how this would affect the load delta, because loads are scheduled for each day and then lost as the source of where to start the next load and we have problems with delta loads the next few days.
    Thank you.

    hi,
    What is your delta extractor (LIS or not LIS), What is you target (DSO or cube).
    depending on your soruce and target procedure is not the same but you can do it in every cases :
    in case of not LIS
    just reload with full IP to PSA
    in case of LIS
    delete setup tables
    do a restructuration for your record (if you can with selection condition)
    in case of cube in BW
    do a simple full upload
    in case of DSO
    do a full upload in repair mode (if dataflow is 3.x) else just use DTP.
    But if your target is DSO and DSO load other infocube after be sure that they are not corrupted

  • WLS 9.2.2: JSP recompile for every page load with JAR'ed tag files

    I have a small custom tag library of three tag files. With the server running in development mode and the tag files in a JAR (included in WEB-INF/lib), the server appears to be doing a JSP recompile on every page load. However, it only compiles on the first page load if the tag files are included in WEB-INF/tags (no JAR). Also, running the server in production mode with the JAR'ed tag files avoids the recompile for every page load.
              Is that how the server should behave?
              For whatever it's worth, I'm also using Eclipse 3.3.2 with WTP and WebLogic Server Tools 1.1.2. The server is running the Sun JVM (1.5_10).

  • Only Part Of JPEG images Appear when Performing Animation Using JPEG Files

    Hello,
    I have an Applet that loads loops through 4 JPEGS one at a time for animation purposes. However, when running this Applet, unless I make the Width and Height very large, only part of the JPEGS appear.
    The HTML code appears as follows:
    <applet code="Dizzy.class" width=100 height=100>
    </applet>
    If I make the width=1000, and height 1000, then each of the JPEGS appear entirely. However, I don't have this much room on my HTML page to display these images. So, how do I make these images appear within a smaller space on the HTML page??
    I've included the Web Applet code below also:
    import java.awt.*;
    * Dizzy
    * This is a template applet for animation.
    * It illustrates how to animate multiple images with
    * one image per frame.
    public
    class Dizzy extends java.applet.Applet implements Runnable {
    int frame;
    int delay;
    Thread animator;
    Dimension offDimension;
    Image offImage;
    Graphics offGraphics;
    Image frames[];
    * Initialize the applet and compute the delay between frames.
    public void init() {
    String str = getParameter("fps");
    int fps = (str != null) ? Integer.parseInt(str) : 4;
    delay = (fps > 0) ? (1000 / fps) : 100;
    frames = new Image[4];
    for (int i = 1 ; i <= 4 ; i++) {
    //frames[i-1] = getImage(getCodeBase(), "P" + i + ".JPG");
    frames[i-1] = getImage(getCodeBase(), "P" + i + ".JPG");
    * This method is called when the applet becomes visible on
    * the screen. Create a thread and start it.
    public void start() {
    animator = new Thread(this);
    animator.start();
    * This method is called by the thread that was created in
    * the start method. It does the main animation.
    public void run() {
    // Remember the starting time
    long tm = System.currentTimeMillis();
    while (Thread.currentThread() == animator) {
    // Display the next frame of animation.
    repaint();
    // Delay depending on how far we are behind.
    try {
    tm += delay;
    Thread.sleep(Math.max(0, tm - System.currentTimeMillis()));
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    break;
    // Advance the frame
    frame++;
    * This method is called when the applet is no longer
    * visible. Set the animator variable to null so that the
    * thread will exit before displaying the next frame.
    public void stop() {
    animator = null;
    offImage = null;
    offGraphics = null;
    * Update a frame of animation.
    public void update(Graphics g) {
    Dimension d = getSize();
    // Create the offscreen graphics context
    if ((offGraphics == null)
    || (d.width != offDimension.width)
    || (d.height != offDimension.height)) {
    offDimension = d;
    offImage = createImage(d.width, d.height);
    offGraphics = offImage.getGraphics();
    // Erase the previous image
    offGraphics.setColor(getBackground());
    offGraphics.fillRect(0, 0, d.width, d.height);
    offGraphics.setColor(Color.black);
    // Paint the frame into the image
    paintFrame(offGraphics);
    // Paint the image onto the screen
    g.drawImage(offImage, 0, 0, null);
    * Paint the previous frame (if any).
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    update(g);
    * Paint a frame of animation.
    public void paintFrame(Graphics g) {
    g.drawImage(frames[frame % 4], 0, 0, null);
    Thanks for your reply,
    Randy

    Hi,
    It is always good to check basic things... but no, I didn't put anything in the search field .
    I finally found a dummy way to solve the issue (by he way, this also solved it for Garage Band...). Hi did the following:
    1) Copy the folder "/Users/my_login/Music/iTunes/" on some other disc (or simply other location on the same disc)
    2) Quit iTunes if it is opened
    3) Put the original folder of point 1/ above in the trash, empty the trash
    4) Copy the file back from the location you copied it before, to the original location
    5) Open iTunes
    6) Drag and Drop the folder iTunes from "/Users/my_login/Music/iTunes/" on the main iTunes windows. iTunes will re-index the files (it may take a while)
    Quit FCP if it was opened. Open FCP. For me, at that time, all iTunes files were now appearing correctly in FCP.
    Probably that the above procedure can be simplified... in my case, only applying points 5 and 6 didn't solve my issue, but I guess it could solve such issues in other similar cases. Hope this can help other people having similar issues.
    Cheers.

  • I downloaded audiobook from iTunes. It comes in 2 parts. Part one will not play, only part 2. When I tried to sync to ipod or iphone it prompted,"file could not be reaf from or written to".Can I fix this issue?

    I just purchased and downloaded an audiobook from iTunes. I tried to sync it to iPhone 4 and iPod Classic but with both devices got a message"file could not be read from to written to".  Then I tried to play the audiobook in iTunes and realized that only part 2 of my 2 part download will play. Part 1 will not play. Is this why I got the message? Is there any way to get another try at downloading my audiobook I just paid $15 for??

    Click the Shuffle button at bottom left of iTunes window so the crossed arrows are not blue.

    Whatever the problem is you no longer have a bootable system. You need to try reinstalling OS X.
    Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
