Teststand sequence file not locking when locked from a labview running vi

Hi guys,
ok, here's the issue that I have:
I'm running a vi (directly in labview) which is supposed to lock a sequence file in Teststand (with a level 2 protection), but it doesn't have any effect on the sequence file. (the file remains unlocked).
The vi runs just fine, and the strange part is that when I read the lock status (property node in labview) of the sequence file afterwards it appears as "True" (i.e the file has been locked).
(Note: Teststand is closed while running the vi, then I open it to check if the sequence is locked or not)
However, integrating this same vi as step in a separate sequence file in teststand, and running it, will work. Why? Is it possible to
lock a sequence directly by running the vi in labview?
Attached to this message is the block diagram of the vi.
The relevant inputs are:
SequencePath -- sequence file to be locked
Password -- password used to lock file
Version -- Also sets the version of the file

Would you mind answering a few questions for me regarding this issue?
1. Have you tried reading the "locked" property of an unlocked sequence file before setting any properties? Does it read false?
2. What happens if you try to run the VI on a locked sequence file?
3. Are there any differences in the data you are passing to the VI in TestStand versus the inputs you are using when running the VI alone?
4. When TestStand locks the file using the VI, are you able to use the password you assigned to unlock it?
5. Is the version number saved when you run the VI from LabVIEW?

Error -43 file not found when exporting from QT Pro 7.5

I get the error -43 (a file could not be found) when trying to export into any format from within Quicktime Pro 7.5 (861) which i believe is the most current version. I also cannot perform a simple "save as" to save my video into another name, i dont get an error message for that one, but it just doesnt do anything. OK so i found the solution myself - seems apple programmers have been not doing their jobs properly, to get this working the file name of the video that i want exported cannot be anything other than in 8.3 format (like old MS-DOS) but it's more than that, even if you do have the file in 8.3 format it still cant be in a directory that has a name longer than 8 characters, or which has spaces in it etc. so in my case i copied my video to c:\temp and renamed all of them to the old MS-DOS 8.3 format, now the export works... amazing I wonder how long i would have waited for apple support if i hadnt resolved this myself.

Quicktime Movie Files Not Opening when sent from iLife

REcently, my mom and dad have sent me QT files recently via email and I've been unable to open them. Here is the strange part...they just emailed them to me using the "share" feature within imovie and/or iphoto. The files compressed fine and emailed w/o problem. I was unable to open them which I think is very odd.
Is there a problem with QT anyone know of out there? I'm using QT 7.1.5. My parents are both using the most recent ilife suite and QT.

I have emailed an avi file to friend with aol mail address. When trying to open file quicktime error message says it is not a movie. When I used quicktime pro to mail the file it changed file to a .mim . Cannot find a program on their windows machine that will play the .mim file. How can you e-mail avi files in a way that windows users can view them ?

Why does FCP error "File Not Found" when I try to open my sequences????

I recently updated all of my software and the following day I started getting errors "file not found" when I would try to open a sequence. Now all of my sequences are being lost and I am losing time and money because I can't meet deadlines! This *****!!! With one sequence I had to reedit the entire thing from scratch and when I did for some reason the old one would then open. But the next time I opened FCP both sequences would error out. Following the "file not found" the computer responds with another error "error: out of memory" What the devil is going on with this crap?

I seem to have figured out what my problem was. After trying to build the same project (that failed on the Mac Pro) on my laptop and encountering the same errors, I realized that the problem had to be with one or more of my assets and not my new version of FCP, since my PowerBook is running FCP 5.0.4 and my Mac Pro is running FCP 5.1.2.
In my case the "corrupt" file was a Photoshop PSD file. In the past (FCP 4.5) I was able to use PSD files with hidden layers. I would merge the visible layers into one layer, keep the hidden layers and save the file. Once in FCP, I imported the PSD file and kept right on truckin'. I've done this for years. For some reason now with FCP 5.1.2 (and 5.0.4), that's not flying anymore. Once I "Flattened" the PSD file in Photoshop (deleting all of the hidden layers) I was able to build the project without any errors.
Interestingly, the technique I used to figure out which file was "corrupt" also allowed me to salvage parts of some of my "lost" sequences. I saw this posted in a forum at Creative Cow (creativecow.net). Basically, I opened up the project, clicked the OK button after the File Not Found error, went into the Browser, right clicked on the offending sequence, selected "Make Offline". When I double clicked the sequence it opened in the timeline with all of my assets offline. Then in the timeline, one by one, I right clicked on each clip and selected "Reconnect Media". Once I linked up the media, if I didn't get an error message, I would save as a new project (to salvage what WAS working), and go to the next clip. I did this until I found the offending PSD files.

Make sure your devices are also connected to external power or the wifi will disconnect after a few seconds. If they are and they still won't back up, it may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail. To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup. Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

If you are using an older version of the CVI Test Exec toolkit, check with your local Field Sales rep to see about getting the necessary software to use for temporarily upgrading your existing Test Exec sequences to version 2.0 for migrating to TestStand.

Edit Items in TestStand Sequence File Combo Box?

I am creating a basic user interface VI Project, based off of the examples included with TestStand. In the "Simple" example, there is a Open Seq File button, and an associated combo box to select the Sequence File to run. For my application, I would like to limit the sequence file options from which the operator can choose (not allow the operator to browse the entire hard drive to find a sequence file). Using basic Labview functions, I would have done this with a regular combo box, and use the "Edit Items" option to load file options into the drop-down menu. However, the TestStand UI combo box does not allow this, presumably because it is an ActiveX control, and configuration is different from normal Labview functions. Is it possible to pre-load the TestStand UI combo box with allowed sequence files? Or, if there are other suggestions on how to accomplish the requirement, I am open to them as well.

One idea is to use the native LabVIEW controls. Then hide the TestStand UI controls and update them from the events triggered by the native LabVIEW controls. I have had to do this before on UIs when the customer wanted a certain look and feel.
So basically have the native LabVIEW combo box set like you want. When the user makes a selection, in the event for that selection update the hidden TestStand Sequence File Combo Box witht he correct sequence file.
Another option is to use events for the Sequence File Combo Box and just filter and force certain behavior.

I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.

Developing an application with a split FE BE with both files local but continue to have the message "Not Responding" when switching from forms view to design view and back as well as if I try to connect to a subform or object on the sub form.

I have seen this behavior when the form's RecordSource is a complex query such as a crosstab or a query with several nested queries. To test if this is your case, remove the RecordSource and see if the form starts acting normal again.
Then again, if the form has several subforms they might be slowing up the loading time.

Are .mp4 files not supported when trying to merge 2 videos into 1 video? The steps in the manual seem simple enough. But the paste function won't work on the 1st video after selecting all and then copy on the 2nd video.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

Gif file not found in JAR from Java Application

Could some one please explain how to create a JAR file from where I can get a GIF file. I have tried a number of different ways but it allways fails. (I have tried to add the GIF files using the jar command and I have tried to add it using WinZip after the jar is created).
To isolate the problem I created this very simple program, the program works very well when the gif file resides on the directory from where I run the Application, but when I remove it from the directory it fails. I have tried to put the GIF file in the JAR in a number of different ways but it allways fails. (I have also tried with and without slash before the name of the GIF). I guess the problem is the way I create the JAR file

here is a small application using my own class GetImageIcon.
Normally I have this "help-class" in a utility-package to use it from all my projects without copying. For this example I copied the code in the test application. Feel free to use the code of the class like you want. For me it works fine.
Do the following:
1. Create a folder called /meta-inf under the folder where the class-files are. Use a text-editor and create a file saved as "manifest.mf".
manifest.mf tells the jar-file which is the main-class from where the application will start when double-clicked.
It only has to contain one line:
Main-Class: GifTest
2. Compile and create the jar file. I made a bat-file containing:

REM Show Table of Content of the Jar-File

So you can see what's in the jar-file.
3. When you double-click on the jar-file the application is executed. So it is easier to use for the users. They don't have to type in anything on the command-line. You can deploy this jar-file to any client and run it. The only thing you have to do, is to install the JRE on the clients.
I develop with JDK 1.3.1 and JRE 1.3.1 is installed on the clients of the company I work for.
