Text Field layout/size issues

Has anyone else noticed that when you add a text field component onto a layout, the view of it inside of JSC2 is not how it appears in browser? For example, I am staring at a JSC2 screen where the bottom of the line of text(label) aligns with the bottom of the text-field. However, once in the browser, the text field is a good amount larger (reader below) the label's bottom. From exploring, it seems like the text-field gains an extra grid size when translated from JSC2 to web. (My grid is set to 5 px, and the text-field only aligns once I make it 1 grid space too small). Is this the case? Possibly known bug, and is there any solution other then just make all of the text fields too small?
Thanks

I have a similar problem, and I think it is a bug to. The IDE display of a text field is about two times the size of the actual size of the text field displayed in the browser. I tried both IE 6.0 and Firefox and the result is the same, so it is not a browser specific issue.
I have to set the columns attribute of the text field almost twice as big big in the IDE display to get half as much in the browser. Overall it is irritating since my design view looks like my text fields are over lapping other components when that is actually not the case when I deploy it.

  • Dynamic text boxes, font size issues

I have created a dynamic text box and an input text box.
I have produced code that replicates whatever is typed in the
input box to display in the dynamic box along with a date and time
stamp once a button is clicked.
This all works fine, except for the sizes of the fonts. for
both boxes, i selected font size 10 . The input box is fine,
however the dynamic box text is huge.
When i make the dynamic text font smaller, it fits in fine,
but the input text that is inserted into the dynamic text box comes
in too big. If i make the input text box font smaller it is
    unreadable when typing it in.
any soultion to how to make my font consistent. I am assumin
the problem is because both the text boxes are different sizes,

  • CR for VS2010 Text/Field Object Alignment Issue

I have a report that displays several rows of data for each record.  I have a mix of text and field objects on each of the rows.  All objects are aligned correctly in the designer but at runtime there are a few objects that seem mis-aligned by about 5 px or so.  It's like the object is vertically aligned to the top.  It doesn't appear that there is a way to set the vertical alignment and i have checked the tops and heights of the objects.  What else could cause this mis-alignment?

The link to http://screencast.com/t/aCzADERY is an actual design view, not the viewer view. I believe from your previous posts that you are using CR2010 and the ActiveX designer provided with that version of CR. What does the report look like when you actually view the report using the ActiveX viewer of the .NET IDE (e.g., in the .NET IDE, click the "Main Report Preview" tab.?
Alternatively, once again we go back to the original suggestion that Don made a while back on one of your posts. What does the report look like when viewed in the CR 2011 stand-alone version of Crystal Reports viewer?

  • Input text field displays U.S. keyboard layout

    Hi,
    I've got a Flash Player 9 / AS3 animation which has a input
text field where a user enters their email address.
Now my PC is setup to use the UK keyboard layout so when I
click the buttons Shift+@ then I get the @ symbol displayed.
But for some reason the moment I try typing in the @ symbol
(using Shift+@ keys) then up pops the " symbol which is a U.S.
keyboard layout if I'm not mistaken?
And so checking this, if I use the Shift+number 2(") key then
I get the @ symbol (which again is a U.S. keyboard layout if I'm
    not mistaken?).
Obviously I can't expect my UK users to know this and so need
to work out how to change the keyboard layout for the text input
fields so when I click the shortcut buttons Shift+@ I should see
    the @ symbol appear.
    Hope that all makes sense.
Any help is greatly appreciated as this is a live project
that the client is racing to get fixed.
    Many thanks and kind regards,
    Mark

    Hi,
I have found some other weird things happening regarding this
    issue which are very odd?
    To recap....
If I type into the search bar at the top of this page Shift+@
then I get the correct character displayed which is @ (so my
    keyboard is definitely UK layout).
If I create a new Flash movie with nothing but a text field
set to INPUT and type Shift+@ then again I get the correct
    character!
But if I type Shift+@ into my Flash movie I get the wrong
    character " appear!?
I then checked both text fields and found there were
absolutely no differences (except for colour/font size), so I
copied the new text field into my Flash movie and the moment I
played my Flash movie the new text field (which was working) then
started doing the same and displaying the wrong character???
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • Text field issue in Sub Form

    Hello Experts,
I am creating my very first Adobe Form for my client. I have created a subform with "Flowed" content. I have one Text Field in that sub form. When I try to place the second Text Field adjacent to that, it's not letting me do that. It's placing the Text Field under the first one. Can you please let me know how to overcome this issue?
Thanks a lot for your help. I did search and could not find any solution for this.
Also, I tried to change the position manually, but the X: and Y: positions are greyed out for me in Layout pallette.

    Hi sam,
When you have selected the sunform to be "flowed" , there is an adjacent field where you mention the typr of flow - 'Top to bottom ' or 'Western text' . If you specify as 'western text' then you could get the desired result. you can use rectangles etc for any alignment based on your layout requirement.

  • Expanding text fields side-by-side in a 2 column layout

    Hi,
I've been trying to create a form that is a 2-column layout. This form contains expanding text fields that are side-by-side with additional form elements underneath. I managed to get the expandable fields to work, however, if the user writes too much in the text field in the left-hand column and it wraps onto a second page, the text field in the right-hand gets pushed to the second page. I am wondering if someone has experience with this and could help me figure out how to make sure the text field in the right-hand column stays in place as the text field in the left-hand column expands onto 2 pages.
I've tried to wrap each text-field in their own subform that stays fixed, but that seemed to cause the field to expand over the elements below it.
    Take care,
    Carolyn

for my bachelor-thesis I'm trying to create a 2 column layout in pages. The left column should contain all contents, the right column should only contain notes and additional information supporting the 'main' column. So the right column only contains a little text every now and then. Using the Layout Inspector and setting up 2 columns fills the right column automatically withe the contents overflowing the left column. What I'm hoping to archive is to create a 2 column layout leaving the right column blank, allowing me to insert Text-fields (unless there's a better way) wherever I need to add an annotation.
    Hi Lukas,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Pages '09 forum.
Since you want the text to flow from page to page in the left column, it would appear best to use a single column for the main text, and to limit the width of that column using the right margin stop.
That leaves the right half of the page open for a series of text boxes (or shapes, as shown) to contain the notes and additional information.
I would start with a single text box or shape, resize it to the width you want, then duplicate that one each time you need a new box. That way all your text blocks have a common width to begin with, and if you take care to use only the handle at the center of the bottom edge to resize them, you will not disturb that width setting.
As noted earlier, the floating objects will not automatically travel with the text they apply to if editing causes that text to move.

    Barry

  • Changing font/-size of a text field on master-pages not possible? (field prop)

    Hi,
I would like to change the font and font-size of a textfield on a master page.
I wonder if I do anything wrong, because the font-options (size, font etc.) are simple greyed out / not avaliable, when I click on my text field.
It seems, there is any way to customize the font-properties of a textfield (only) on master-page.
Well I guess it would work with java script in init-event ...  but really, why the hell it should not be possible simply to use the properties/text properties?!
Please correct me if I am wrong. Do I do anything wrong or is it really not possible to customize font of a text field on master pages?

    Hi,
I was just about to post, that I figured it out.
Actually, I use Livecycle Designer in SAP (transaction SFP). There seems to be a bug (one of hundrets by the way).
If I click on a field, that does not have text-property e.g. subform, text-option menu greys out.
Afterwards it stay this way until I click/doubleclick into a simple text (not text field). From that moment on, text/font-option menu is available again, until I click on something without text. => So pay attention and click wisely
    coming soon: "SAP meets Livecycle Designer - a (Bug)Lovestory", hardcover 124 Pages. ; )
by the way: SAP does not sopport interactive forms higher than Reader 8.1. Its statement "8.1 is fine enough for everything you need in a SAP/Adobe Interactive Form". So beware of using XFA higher than in 8.1. sad, but true ...

Use graphics apps for images only.  DO NOT export HTML from Photoshop or Fireworks.  The result is table based code that precisely fits the image slices and nothing else.
When you try to edit graphics app generated code in DW, your page layout will fall apart.

  • Issue with length of form text fields in Firefox in OSX

I've just spotted an issue with this in a page on a site, with two forms next to each other. (the limited space has highlighted it.)
Basically FF on the Mac is making the text fields longer than any other browser :
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
If anyone knows a fix for this, that would be great.
If not, I'll just reduce their length so that at least they're not squashed in any browser (even though they'll be a bit short in every browser other than FF Mac).
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
    Thanks.

Thanks guys - its just not something I've really noticed before, as most forms I do have enough width compared to this page where I have two side by side.
Will pop that bit of CSS in.

  • Forms: How to set a maximum size in Text Fields with automatic size

    ¡Hi!
When I set a text field on my forms and I use automatic size for te text that the user can write, if the user don't need more space than the field size, when the text appears, Adobe Acrobat Pro always set the text-size to 14 or higher. How can I set a maximum size for that text? For example... 12 or 10...
    Thank you very much,
    Best regards from Spain,
    David.

Ok. If I use a single line text field, changing the height of the field seems to be a simple way to solve the problem, but... what should I do when the fields are multi-lineal?
    Thanx for your quick answer.

  • How do I change the size of a Spry Input Text field box?

I created an email reply box, and then I created a reply message box. How do I change the size of each box independantly of each other? All I have is one set of Spry CSS rules!
Oh, and the Working with the Validation Text Rule widget file in the Help Resource Center only covers changing the background color - Ugh!

If I understand your question, you want to change the size of the input field that has spry validation?
Spry has nothing to do with it, add a size to the field
    <input name="textfield1" type="text" id="textfield1" size="45" />
    <input name="textfield2" type="text" id="textfield2" size="25" />

  • Font size in text fields

Is there a way to change the font size in a text box or text field on every webpage through one of the prefrences? I have looked on the forums here and searched Google, but could not find any answers.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    One other thought,
You can temporarily increase/decrease the font size on any page (also, affects all pages opened in a specific tab) by Apple Key plus the + sign for an increase, or the - sign for smaller text.
Same too can be accomplished by using the "text size" icon in the toolbar. If one is not there, go to the View Menu>Customize Address Bar, dragging the "text size" icon to the tool bar. Select "done" on the panel.

  • How to calculate the size of a Text Field?

Is there a way to calculate the number of characters allow in a Text Field? If a uer type over this number of characters a popup window will appear telling the user that he/she has too much texts. Of course I could use the Limit Length, but I have to manually put texts into this text field and count them. If the Limit Lenth number is too small, the texts does not fill the whole text field. If the number is too big then the texts does not get printed.

There would be no easy way to do this. You'd need to do some pretty fancy calculations, it would all depend on the size of the field, what font is used, the font size, whether it's been bolded, underlined, italicized, etc etc.
What are you trying to accomplish? Make it so that the user can type in the text field until it fills and then have it stop without scroll bars coming up to allow him to keep typing?
