Boot from your software install DVD and run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu to repair the drive. If that doesn't work get a copy of Disk Warrior...which you should have regardless...and use that.

i try to play a AVI file on my mac but before the movie starts a message apers. i cant spell that. so anyways it tells me that the software to display is messing and its on the quicktime website and i cant find the display software. i tryed downloading divx player but the same thing but without the message. You need to check one of the solutions below, though I don't know about support for Jaguar or Panther or whatever it is you are running. You may also need to update Quicktime to whatever version will work on your machines and the utilities.

I also don't know the specifications of your imac. Some of those G3 imacs were pretty slow and may simply be incapable of playing any form of compressed video.

How can I implement a get method that lets me divide two values, Help plz

I need to implement a method that divides the values return by two other methods but I keep getting an error message, I think its divide by zero error ( I am not too sure on the exact error msg as I do not have java installed on this pc as yet), here is my example,
I have two get methods that take an int value so say
getValueOne() as method one
getValueTwo() as method two
Now I have a third method that does the following,
Public int getValueThree() {
int value =0;
value = (getValueOne() / getValueTwo())
return value;
I am not two sure on the exact code but it does something like this and I get an error. Could someone please guide me how I can successfully implement a get method that divides two values that are returned by two methods.

And you are right there are some values that are zero! I am not very sure what throwing an exception means to be honest. Could you please give an example?

Most likely your phone is carrier locked to a different carrier than the SIM card you're using. It will activate and operate only with the carrier to which it's locked.

If the screen is not showing anyting when you press any of the buttons you may want to try these steps.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.

add the field whatever u want and lpos = 1 and spos = 1 and check import and export parameter.
where left position when displaying and spos = search position
and then save and activate ..

k when i hook my ipod to my comp it says "itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted you may need to restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes"...and ive tried restoreing it...and it still says that someone know a way to help me plz...? i rlly need help lol i have a 30g video...

Are you using a rear USB port on your computer, what other USB devices are connected to this computer, are you on a network and are you using antivirus and/or antispyware software? Also, are you posting from a cell phone without a Qwerty keyboard?

Dual display help for a recently converted mac user

I have a 24" Intel IMac and I wanted to set up dual displays. I may have jumped the gun a little because I didn't do much homework but I found a big cheap monitor at Best Buy which is an HP w2338. I bought that and the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. I hooked everything up and both monitors work but I have a couple small issues that I can't seem to find how to fix. First, I have about a 1.5 inch strip along the left side of my hp monitor that isn't used at all. It is just a black strip that taunts me. When I drag things from my IMac to my HP it drags fine, but it just acts like the monitor is smaller than it is. The resolution on my IMac is set to 1680x1050 and on my HP it is 1920x1080. Second, I have very faint vertical stripes in my new HP monitor. They can be seen the best in the grey parts of my windows. Any help with either issue would be greatly appreciated.

On your 24-inch iMac's screen, the native resolution is 1920x1200. You can use a lower resolution, but the display will seem a bit fuzzy (the pixels are being approximated). So you should use 1920x1200 on the iMac's screen, unless you have a good reason to use something else.
On the HP display, it sounds like the native resolution is 1920x1080. That's the resolution of an HDTV, so it should work. However, when you connect an HDTV, it connects with a digital connection, HDMI. So I think it will work if you connect it HDMI. If that monitor happens to have DVI, use DVI.
If it only has VGA and HDMI, there was a recent topic that was very similar (same display I think). Is your iMac the older model (not the brand new 2009 model) with a Mini-DVI port? If so, take a read there to see if the information is applicable to your situation.

Then use the device as designed. Copy the pictures off the device to the computer. For any pictures that you desire to keep on the device, simply sync them via iTunes.
Failure to copy the pictures off the device is only asking for problems. If the device is ever lost/stolen or simply fails to work, without a backup they would be gone as well.

Display help where it cannot be seen

I am learning iWeb, so I am using the iWeb help alot. Each and every time, when I choose help, the help dialog box appears under the iWeb window, meaning I have to move the iWeb window around until the help is visible so I can click on it. Command ~ or command tab will not display it.
This makes no sense, to display help where it cannot be seen.
Am I missing some setting?

Bob ~ The default behavior appears to be that the Help window floats on top of other windows (see here), so I don't understand why yours is different.
Anyway, one speculative thing to try is deleting some relevant plist files. (You should have a backup of your system in case you don't like the result!)...
First quit iWeb and close its Help window and then navigate to your Home folder > Library > Preferences
...then look for these files:
com.apple.iweb.plist
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
Drag them to the Trash, start iWeb and see if that has made a difference.
