The messages have disapeard from each of my incoming Emails as of 4/24/15

The messages attached to the incoming statements have all disappeared as of 4/22/15. As of 4/24/15, they are they are showing up again.. How can I get them back???

Yes he would need his own apple id for imessage/facetime and icloud.
In the meantime on his device go to settings - message - send&receive - remove the shared apple id.

ok sorry everyone but i solved it myself but the solution is so nuts i've posted it here to help others who have the same problem.
to setup a comcast imap account on your iphone:
go to mail, contacts, etc in settings
under accts, select add account
select "other"
new screen, choose "add mail account"
now on the new acct screen you must enter your name, email address and password for your GMAIL acct ! (yes i said your gmail acct !, or some other acct with a NON comcast address).
hit next
then the acct verifies
when verified a screen will open with all the acct settings for this acct AND @ the top of the screen are the 2 buttons > imap or POP
select imap and THEN CHANGE ALL THE ACCOUNT information to the comcast account !
then hit next and the account will take a couple minutes to verify but it will verify and now you have a comcast imap acct set up on your iphone. The problem must be that when the iphone sends the initial verify acct info to comcast (if you enter that information first) the comcast server is simply not setup yet to signal the iphone that there is an imap option.

I am somewhat new to iOS and OS having grown up with DOS and Windows. I am not familiar with IMAP and iCloud and I am not even sure which types of servers my various emails use.
The problem I would anticipate with iCloud is that (I assume) it would limit my access to data (including mail) on the iCloud to when I happen to be logged onto the internet. I also assume(?) that large files (photos etc.) would require some time to download whenever I wish to access them from whichever device I happen to be using (I hope I am wrong about this).
I have kept my devices to 500gb - 1TB for OS and 32gb - 128gb for iOS but since I have pretty slow WiFi (shared with DirecTV Whole Home and Netflix streaming) it is my impression that iCloud might be quite limited due to data transfer times.
Perhaps a factor would be that I have 2 DSL lines and my main DSL line is connected to two wireless routers (to also provide WiFi in a metal building that blocks WiFi and Cellular signals)
I may be totally wrong in my assumptions regarding iCloud. My mail is not so urgent that I need access to it instantly and I could wait until I had internet access or I can get it on my iPhone. My main concern with iCloud would be my data files (Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers etc.).
On the other hand, if I wanted to keep my 10,000 emails that would take up a lot of iCloud memory and I don't know how to measure how much storage it would take or how to move Hotmail or even iCloud mail to iCloud.
It may take me some time to figure this out.

Uninstall and reinstall iTunes

Great question stacybrownie! Let's get to the bottom of this so that it's not a cause for concern. When a message is sent to/from your own number, it will display as one sent, one received. This makes it display two messages as you are seeing. Let's clarify the second part of your question. Where do you see "Verizon Message" exactly? What is the long number at the end of the text? When did this start and is it with all text messages or only this instance?

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. Of you're being phished. There are a lot of phishing scams going around right now with bad guys trying to get access to apple ID's.
Anytime you want to verify the info, do not click on any links in the mail, but open up iTUnes on your computer and check things out that way.

Select the Songs view. Use the Search window to display the tracks from the album. Turn on the Kind column and sort on it. Give each version of the album a distinct title. E.g. Album [AAC] and Album [MP3].

With IMAP accounts, incoming and outgoing messages are stored on a mail server until you delete them. When your account connects to the server, it’s synced so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server. Microsoft Exchange accounts
These accounts are similar to IMAP accounts, in that messages are stored on a mail server and accessible from different computers and locations. You can use flags in an Exchange account with some limitations.
For an Exchange account to be set up in Mail, the Exchange server must support Exchange Web Services (EWS). Contact your server administrator for more information.
POP accounts
With POP accounts, incoming messages are stored on a mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. The messages remain on the server until they’re deleted from the server.
