The program doesn't find the run time engine

I create an executable before normaly and after like an installer. When I try it into computer with full LabView licence the program works, but if I install it into a different pc, it requires me to install the run time engine, but the run time engine is installed into the pc. What kind of error can generate this problem?

Hi vsara
Mike is correct, you need the VISA runtime to use VISA functions in an executable. If you don't want to install it as a standalone you can include it in your installer as an additional installer.

  • N82: Nokia Software Update doesn't find the phone

Hello, I am trying to update the firmware of my Nokia N82, but I get an error message from Nokia Software Updater saying that it doesn't find the phone. I find that strange as Nokia PC Suite indeed finds the phone. The icon on the taskbar says that "AndersMobil is connected".
I've noticed that if I let Nokia PC Suite run at the same time as Nokia Software Updater, this icon shows that the phone is being connected and disconnected several times while Nokia Software Updater tries to find the phone, something that might indicate that the two programs cannot be run at the same time? I tried to run Nokia Software Update alone, but still the program doesn't find the phone.
In Windows Hardware Manager (or Units manager, not sure of the english translation) of Windows XP, "Nokia GSM Phone USB Modem" gives the following error message: "The unit is not working as it should as Windows cannot load the necessary drivers for this unit (Code 31)." Under "Portable Devices" in Hardware Manager/(or Units manager?) the error message "This unit cannot start. (Code 10)" appears for the unit "AndersMobil".
I followed the guidelines on the internet reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater, removing and reinstalling the drivers, but Nokia Software Update still doesn't find the phone, and the same error messages appears in Hardware/Units manager every time.
    What do I do?
    Regards,
    Anders
By the way, I sent an e-mail to Nokia support about this but they still haven't answered although it's been a long time since.

  • Upgraded from LabVIEW 8 to 2013 and now VI asks to find the installation package for Run-Time Engine 7.0

I recently installed LabVIEW 2013 on a computer (running Windows XP 32-bit).  The machine also has LabVIEW 8 installed, which is what I was using prior to upgrading.  I opened a VI that was created in LV8 and then saved it and all its subVIs in LV2013.  Now when I open the VI in LV2013 and try to run it, a window pops up asking me to find the "lvruntimeeng.msi" installation package for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.0.  If I cancel that dialog box and the subsequent message stating that the installion files were not found, the VI appears (at least from intial inspection) to run normally.
I closed LabVIEW, downloaded Run-Time Engine 7.0 from the NI website, and tried to install it, but I received a message saying that it is already installed (as I had suspected).  How can I determine what part of the VI and/or its subVIs is trying to make use of Run-Time Engine 7.0?  Alternatively, how can I get LabVIEW to instead use the Run-Time Engine 2013 that was installed when I upgraded to LabVIEW 2013?

Are you running your VI from a Project?  If so, you can look at Dependencies and get an idea what "dependent" VIs you might have.  There may be "something old" in your LabVIEW 8 code that has been superceded in 2013, but still "hangs around" -- if you can identify it, you can probably replace it with its "more modern" equivalent.
If you do not have the VI in a Project, you can simply open LabVIEW, create a new blank project, and add your top level VI to it.  If all of your relevant VIs are in a single folder, add the entire folder.  Now look in Dependencies.

Yes I am running the VI from within a LV Project.  After some more searching in the NI Knowledgebase I was able to fix the problem by using the following procedure:
    1.  Use the Measurement and Automation Explorer to uninstall Run-Time Engine 7.0
    2.  Restart the PC
    3.  Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
    4.  Restart the PC
    5.  Re-install Run-Time Engine 7.0 using a file downloaded from ni.com
    6.  Restart the PC
    7.  Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
    8.  Open the project and run the VI.  No more messages about LabVIEW trying to find Run-Time Engine 7.0.

  • How can I uninstall Labview run time engine from the machine?

I understand that Labview has not given any provision to show customized 'License Agreement screen'. Isn't it? This is the main cause of my problem. Since I want to show our own license agreement (LA) screen, I made the one using Labview. To show this license agreement screen, I first install a small application which has only this LA screen with Labview run time engine. The customer can see License Agreement Screen with Labview Run Time Engine on his machine. If My customer accepts the LA, I will install the main application further by calling another setup.EXE file.
If my customer selects 'Do Not Agree' to the LA, I will quit the installation process. Here I also want to 'uninstall' Labview Run Time Engine
from his machine since he doesn't accept License. I would like to know how to uninstall Labview run time engine from his machine?
Another way which I could think is to run the LA screen from the CD with Labview run time engine on the CD. I will start installing the main S/W to the customer's machine with LABview Run Time Engine only after he accepts License agreement. I would like to know how to run the Labview application from CD without installing run time engine on the target machine?
Can anyone suggest solution to my problem?
    Thanks,
    Chander

    J-Tek,
I would suggest re-installing the Run-time Engine and then uninstalling it after a reboot. Also, you can download a program called Msicuu.exe (for NT, 2000, XP or Msicu.exe for 9x) to help clean up the registry for uninstalled programs.

  • Does Vision Development Module obviate the need for the Vision Run Time Engine?

I have several computers with the full version of Labview (8.0.1 and\or 8.2) as well as the most recent version of the Vision Development Module (VDM 8.2.1), all fully registered and activated.  In addition, I have one computer we have designated the "build" computer which has the professional version of LV 8.2 as well as LV 8.0.1 Full version w/ Application Builder (we have delayed migrating certain applications to 8.2 for various reasons).  Instead of distributing applications as source distributions to these computers (uncompiled VIs), we would like to use our build computer to compile applications that make use of the Vision image processing VIs.  I know that all of these computers have the appropriate LV run time engines installed, but I was wondering if I need to install (and thus purchase) the Vision Run Time Engine for each of these computers.  I know that when you install VDM, you also get a copy of the vision RTE (in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Run-Time Engine).  Does this mean the engine is already installed and ready to run compiled applications?  Or do we need to pay for the engine on each computer?

The Development module includes the RTE for that machine.
For the other machines, you will need to purchase the Vision RTE and install and activate for each machine. See the KB article below for more details.

  • VISA Write differs between TS Development System and LV Run-Time Engine

    Hi all
I made an application on LabVIEW to test BERs (Bit Error Rates), and I used VISA Write between two COM ports to exchange data.
Everything works fine using just LabVIEW.
Afterwards, I used TestStand to call my application (VI). The LabVIEW adapters from TestStand were set to Development System by default, and everything works OK!!
Finally, I needed to disable the development system, and set the LabVIEW adapters from TestStand to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and I notice that the speed of the data exchange between the two COM ports decreased dramatically.
The only difference was the speed...because all the data (changed slowly in this case) arrived correctly on the other COM port too.
The symptom was the same as decreasing the baud rate...but the baud rate and all the other configurations remained the same. The only difference was the change between Develpment System to Run-Time Engine to notice this decreased speed between the exchanged data using VISA Write.
    Any solutions for this?
    Thanks in advance
    Joao

    Joao,
you state that using the LV Developement System as execution platform for your LV code modules result in faster datatransfer between the COM ports than using the LV Run-Time Engine.
So i am pondering: Does this refer to TS at all?
    Please check the following:
Run you communication using a sole LV application in LV Developement System. This should be fast. Now build an executable of this application and run that one. Do you see the same behavior?
If there is no difference in a sole LV approach, there have to be some settings in the TS approach making this slow. So please let us know:
Are there different modules involved in that data transfer (which in fact points to the reply Christophe made)?
What about loading/unloading options of the modules?
How big is the hierarchy of the modules, e.g. is it necessary for the RTE to load stuff the Dev Env has already in memory due to loading a lvproj.......?
Could you provide a simple example sequence+modules showing this behavior?
What versions of LV and TS are you using?
    hope this helps,

  • I have an issue with time machine, it doesn't find the Lacie external driver it use to use. it is the same drive that I usaly use for time machine back ups. It is corectly plugged. What can I do ?

    Hi,
I'm trying to back up my macbook with time machine on the Lacie external driver I usualy use for this, but today my computer doesn't find the driver. I haven't done back up in 6 month.
Today, the Lacie driver is pluged and running, but the computer just does'nt find it.
    what shall I do ?

    Some things to consider:
Is the drive mounted, i.e., visible via Finder and/or on the Desktop?
Is the drive still selected in System Preferences, Time Machine? If not, use the "Select Disk" button.
Is Time Machine still turned on (System Preferences, Time Machine)?
Can you see the drive (and mount it) using Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder)?

  • Why does my LabVIEW 2010 Program ask for the LabVIEW 8.5.1 run-time engine every time it is launched after being installed?

It is a simple timer program that shows the elapsed time (see attached pics). I can't think of a single thing that should be causing this ... It started happening right after I selected scale objects with front panel resizes and recompiled, and re-installed the app. It was not happening before that when installed without the selection of resizing, but then I removed the selection and it still happens. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

If I cancel through all of the dialog boxes (see attached) when trying to launch my little app, it runs normally. Looks like it really doesn't need the 8.5.1 engine after all.

    Can you help

    Sosure
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on?
What video card/graphics card does your computer use? NVIDIA GeForce? If so, please read the Announcement about the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce issue which is found at the top of this web site. Does that apply to you? The explanation for the situation and the fix (roll back of the driver version) are all included in that Announcement.
We need to rule in or out this factor at the onset before we get to other questions
    a. non NIVIDIA video card/graphics card driver
    b. project preset and properties of source media
    c. computer details

    Hi Benjamin,
You will not be able to use the LabVIEW 2010 run-time engine with LabVIEW 2012 applications.  Versions of run-time engines need to correspond with the version of LabVIEW that you have installed.
The following links direct you to our download pages for the run-time engine:
The 32-Bit Run-Time Engine can be downloaded from our website as can the 64-Bit Run-Time Engine, depending on which version of operating system you, use by clicking the link under "Standard Download".

  • Will hardware drivers work with the run-time engine or only a full version of Labview?

    Hello.
I'm trying to get a quatech I/O card to work. The instructions with the drivers we were given state "you must have labview installed before installing these drivers".
A program I wrote on my machine works fine with those drivers and does toggle outputs on the card, but when I build it into an executable on our test unit (doesn't have a full version of Labview, just the Run-Time engine) the card doesn't work.
We installed the run-time engine on the unit, then the drivers.
I guess my question is: Do most drivers work with both the full version of Labview and the run-time engine? Or do I need to somehow 'convert' these drivers to work with the run-time engine?

    Dave:
I can't determine which dll is required but if there are more than one that
shipped with the quatech I/O card try to placing one dll at a time in the
same directory as the exe so that you can determine which one is the
required one. If that doesn't do it then it may need more than jsut one of
the dlls so placing all that came with the quatech I/O card s/w driver
package in the same directory as the exe should do the trick.
    Best of luck.
