The worst phone I've ever owned, what about you ?

Ive had this Z10 for over 12 months and OMG I hate it so much, but unfortunately s the GM of a large multinationalcompany, who lobbyed for its inclusion in our phone policy, I'm stuck with it.
I can't be the only one who hates this phone !
I've run with BB since timebegan and have forced my sales force and account ececutives to run with them over iPhones but this Z10 jut saps my energy, it's hard to use, not at all user friendly, heavens forbid a call comes in when you happen to have damp hands (in the gym, speaing whilst running) as the swipe doesn't work.
God help you if you;re interested in receing twitter of FB notifications, as it doesn't alert you.
Please to god you're never in a rish to look up a numner, as you have to go through at leat 5 swipes, deletes and searches before you get where you ant to be.
And to top it all, unless you have hands like hulk Hogan, one can't work the hone one handed without dropping it or holding it in a verystraange manner.
My 17 year old daughter hit the nail on the head. Blackberry was so the 80's........ha ha ha......you know what, she's right even thoughshe doen't know how wrong she is.
Sit on a bus (I prefer my E300 Hybrid), Visit a shopping mall, walk down the street, hell put your phone on any table i any retaurant and you;ll find you Z10 sits alone..........WHY ?
The above is why.
Just because I have a computer and a phone, does not mean I can spell or type proficiently.

Well, I've had my Z10 for almost one year exactly and couldn't enjoy it more. My hands are not big and I do have a little difficult using it one handed sometimes but I've gotten quite used to the gestures and can do most all of what you're complaining about quite easily and quickly. My wife has one too and she loves it.
Additionally, with OS 10.2.1 (which can be downloaded from Crackberry.com and installed quite easily) I have access to almost every Android app available. Moreover, close to 90% of those Android apps work quite well.
I do not work for BlackBerry but I am quite pleased with my Z10. I just wish I could get the Z30 but my carrier doesn't offer it.
Rather than rant, maybe we can assist you in making the device more likeable. I've found that most of the complaints have been addressed in software updates and whatever is left is usually due to not knowing something about the device.

  • Easily the worst phone I have ever owned...

I "upgraded" this summer to a BlackBerry Q5 from a HTC Desire HD. I use inverted commas to highlight my complete and utter dissatisfaction with my handset. I have already replaced my handset once because it showed similar problems which have reoccurred with my new device.
    As it stands:
Massive overheating problem which causes the battery to run completely flat in around 10 minutes from a full charge and occasionally the screen turning blue and remaining that way for a few days.
I cannot access my texts, they simply don't appear on the hub and if I press the icon for "text messages" it takes me through to my hotmail account (which is also not recieving new messages)
I cannot access the browser, it loads up a blank window with the URL bar but doesn't respond to anything other than swiping upwards to then close the window.
Finally I cannot access any of my media files. A message appears saying there is an error and can't read any of the media files (music, pictures, video etc.)
I went down to the shop where I purchased the phone who also gave me a replacement handset when the first Q5 was faulty. They told me to have a go at downloading the newest software update and if that didn't remedy the problem to do a full factory reset.
I got home, connected to my home Wi-Fi and tried to download the software update. Guess what? No dice. So I have since started a full factory reset. It has been showing the same loading screen for around 2 and a half hours and shows no signs of starting again.
I reccomend to anyone that they stay clear of this particular device and would be interested to know if it is just this model which shows these problems. Maybe BlackBerry thinks that because it is not a premium device and is aimed at those who want a more simple handset, it is not worth makiing it reliable.
I chose BlackBerry because I was told that they were the most reliable manufacturer. I am extremely disappointed with the Q5 especially as I am locked into a very long contract which is not cheap and I am NOT recieving a service which merits the pricetag.
I definitely will not be purchasing a BlackBerry device in the future.

  • Bold 9650 is the WORST phone I have ever had!!! :-(

OK... I "upgraded" my phone to the Bold 9650 when it just came out earlier this year, wanting the latest and greatest. I have been an extremely loyal BlackBerry user for more than a decade. In fact, one BlackBerry I had a while back went a year-and-a-half without crashing, freezing, nor giving me any trouble whatsoever. Now, unfortunately, with my bold 9650, I'm lucky of I can go an HOUR-and-a-half without some sort of freeze or crash, and often the only way to get back on track is to pull the battery and restart. Several. Times. Each. Day. And I get REALLY tired of seeing the spinning icon showing me that BlackBery is doing something on its own, but I cannot do a thing with it. Can't move the thumbwheel. Can't enter any text. Can't even shut the phone off!!!
Am I alone, or are others out there experiencing the same problems? I'm about to abandon the Bold 9650 and get something else. What is a good replacedment for it?
    Thank you.

Thanks to SuzyQ for your input. Hi OEMMaster, How much memory is on your device? It could be low memory causing your device to freeze. Please try cleaning the memory to free up some space and resources. If your memory cleaning feature is not turned, please use the steps below to enable this feature with helping to avoid low memory.  I'm providing steps below for turning this feature along with a link to our website to the user manual and simulator supporting your device. If you have tried these suggestion and still have the issues, I could look into an option of offering you a certified like new replacement if you are under warranty. Please send me a private message with your information to be assisted further. I hope this helps.
To turn on the memory cleaning feature:
    1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
    2. Click Security > Advanced Security Settings > Memory Cleaning.
    3. Select the Enable check box.
    4. Press the key > Save.

  • X1 Carbon is the worst thinkpad I have ever had - think before you buy

I just got X1 Carbon. Let's make it clear that this notebook is not worth the money. X230 is probably much better choice. You will get much better notebook with better hardware, better battery time, better size. It is not worth to buy X1 just because it is thin.
Actually when you have X230 in your hands it feels much smaller than X1 Carbon!!!
    X1 Carbon Facts:
    No i7 with 8GB RAM
No 1000Gbps NIC (not even USB adapter with 1Gbps)
I dont understand how business notebook does not have 1Gbps NIC. My 3.5 years old X61 has got 1Gbps NIC. Brand new X1 Carbond does not have it. I cannot believe it.
Don't buy it. It is waist of money. Look at Toshiba or MacBook or X230. They are much better notebooks. I will look at Toshiba next after this bad experience. It is clear that Lenovo is not IBM and they started making compromizes. Thinkpad is not as it used to be.
    Have a good day.

Just my opinion on it all. Also a little venting.
I gotta say I really love this baby, but I can't really use it for anything. Especially not in the field.
Personally I must say the X1 Carbon Touch ticks all the boxes for me. When I travel, I take along a USB 3.0 Ethernet Gigabit dongle and a Displayport to VGA dongle. That is all I need on the road and frankly, that is the price you pay for being able to use such a thin notebook. This is no different from any MacBook Air, Asus Zenbook or Samsung Series 9. You want thin, you accept dongles, it's as simple as that.
And when I sit in my office, every bit of expansion is handled by the Lenovo USB 3.0 Dock. 2 screens, audio, Gigabit Ethernet and 5x USB 3.0 ... The nice thing about this dock is that it also accommodates Macbooks with OSX nowadays. Alternating between my Carbon and my Mac has now become a breeze ...:-)

  • Blackberry Pearl- Why it's the worst phone ever made

Here's why I think the Blackberry Pearl is the worst phone ever made.
    1. I can't get photo's off of it. My G1 takes a few seconds. I've worked with this Pear for hours upon hours cannot get my photo's off of it. The Desktop manager really bites too no help there. I really dislike this phone. The software just as bad. I guess they were on the move when Desktop manager was getting written.
    2. The phone on occasions would lock on letters instead of numbers. There wasn't an intuitive way to get it unlocked. I found it more intuitive to get a my return from the IRS than it was to get the phone back to dialing numbers.
I'm having my kids dress up as a Blackberry Pearl for Halloween. I'm going to make a Halloween Movie Freddy Kruger attacks people with Blackberry Pearl the topper scene features unsuspecting Pearl user getting tied up and has them attempt to copy their photos off to a PC and the video gets put on Youtube for Christmas.
    Very unsatisfied with your product.
    Don Quixote

I want to join the fun here and list all the different reasons why I'm very unsatisfied with this phone.
The actual phone part of this phone is pretty slow.  It accepts a phone number almost 3 times slower than I can type it in.  Even typing a name on their handy search bar takes forever to get a result.  If I type to fast, it just ignores a couple of my numbers so I have to delete and retype, at the same super slow pace.  I'm guessing that it searches all sorts of contact and history lists to give me cool suggestions, and that's what makes it so slow.  Either way, it irritates me to no end that the basic reason I have this thing is slow as dirt.
All 3rd Party and Blackberry apps require the Blackberry data service.  Even though there's WIFI on this phone, you simply can't connect to anything except the Browser (and even the Browser requires some setting changes to bypass the upsell screen).  This phone CAN do 3rd party services and other applications without the Blackberry data service, but they just don't allow you to.
Sometimes my phone just turns off.  I don't normally mind the 3 minute boot up process, but when I'm in the middle of something and my phone turns off for no reason, it just compounds my frustration.
The keyboard freezes up all the time.  After a good 1-5 minute "please wait clock", I finally get a message saying there was an error and my input application had to be reset.  Sometimes it doesn't quite reset all the way and I have to pull the battery and again wait for the long boot up process.
Its a little unreliable.  Besides the phone turning off at random and the keyboard freezing, I still have problems other problems.  My bluetooth turns off and sometimes doesn't come back.  Once I had to get a new phone sent to me in order to correct that problem.  Pressing buttons doesn't always get a response, especially the green "call" button.  If the phone is bogged down, it just ignored commands, which is pretty frustrating especially if you press a button and accidently double enter a command that is both the "on" and "off" options.  Also, sometimes the screen fades out (like its suppose to) but doesn't come back when you press keys.  Or the external notifications just don't turn on.  It somestimes just doesn't read my memory card.  The zoom feature on my camera also got stuck.
Other small gripes involve having no caps lock, the SureType never learning from my typing ("Hey" always goes out as "Get"), its overall slowness, the looseness of the back casing, the low quality camera, and so much more.
I don't suggest this phone to anyone.

  • Why does the top button always brake why as my screen decided to pop off why is the back of my case bending when I have never dropped it why dose this shity phone keep sending text messages as picture messages this is the worst phone av ever had!!

I know a lot of people with iphone 5 and have never heard them complain about top button always brake and screen that decides to pop off or the back of their case is bending.
That sounds like a phone that has been dropped a numerous times.

I contributed to this thread earlier:
     http:///t5/Cseries/C3-01-Problems-and-Limitations/m-p/1050133/highlight/false#M20370
Since then I've resolved the WAP problem; but as the OP has stated, the problems I've had with mine have been far and away more than all the phones I've had in the past -combined!
It fails on calls (I'm paying of the call, but nothing can be heard)..Today my touchscreen decided to go AWOL. and locked up..so I took out the battery, same again..then the battery AND the SIM card. Same again..It wouldn't unlock, the only buttons that worked were the push button ones...Then it decided it would work a little, and auto scrolled (Yes really!) the side bar..The it defaulted to the help screen without being touched (Battery out again)...then it worked as it should..but now...if I try to press an icon, it moves up the screen as I press it, so I can't actually open (for example) messages or my address book. If I hold the menu icon down for three seconds, it will eventually open up, but the rest won't..but it might all change in an hour or two..So yes, i agree with the original message it is probably the worse phone Nokia has released.

  • LG Extravert possibly the worst phone ever!

"Upgraded" to this phone and I have to say it was the worst mistake I have ever made as far as phones go. 1. The screenlock button is at the top right side, so whenever you grab the phone normally and try to do anything with it, adjust volume, whatever, the screenlock button is inadvertently touched more often than not and locks the screen up. Horrible placement for that button.  2. The speakerphone is the worst sounding piece of junk ever! I can get better sound out of a garage sale walkie-talkie! 3. If I want to listen to my voicemails, check a bank account balance, etc., and I dial from the closed position, as soon as the call connects, the screen goes dark and I can't put in passwords, account numbers, menu options and the like from the touchscreen. I have to open the phone and do everything from the Qwerty...AND turn off the speaker phone(which is activated when I slide the phone open) to keep my account info and voicemails from being soundblasted all over creation. 4. But, by far, the most irritating thing about this piece of junk is the horrible problem with texting. After having the phone for about two weeks, I noticed I could not delete certain texts. No matter how I tried to do it, texts would not delete! I took it in to Verizon and they rebooted it several times and every time the texts were still there! Since there wasn't anything horribly important contained in those texts, I took the chance at exchanging it anyway, knowing personal info was still on the phone. I took the new one home, and two weeks later, SAME thing started happening, only worse!. Not only could I not delete loads of texts(a few I could), I but texts that I hadn't even read yet were disappearing. I get the alert that a text had come in, I open the screen to read the text from "John Doe", and the text disappeared! I later found it in the folder of "Jan Smith". A response to a text from my son, he never got, but it shows up in the sent folder to an entirely different person. I sent an "I Love You!" to my wife. Doesn't show up there...it shows up as a sent text to a guy friend of mine. This is so ridiculous I don't think I will give this back to Verizon. I would like a credit on my account for the $45 in upgrade fees and taxes, and I want to keep the phone. I will take it home, throw it down in the driveway and enjoy beating the snot out of it with a sledgehammer!

  • Lightroom 3 - The worst program Adobe has ever put out...

If anyone cares to read this, I will be the first to say DO NOT UPGRADE!!
I am spreading the word - facebook, word of mouth, every professional photographer in LA I know, blogs, etc.
You gotta raise hell to get changes.
Lets see if Adobe will do anything about these issues...
I thought that Adobe created "beta" for a reason - to smooth out all the kinks before they put the disk out. Nope.
I have been waiting for them to put out updates on many issues since I purchased the disk a month ago.... Still waiting Adobe!!!
It is excruciating to watch my photos take literally 4-5 minutes to open.  Even worse, is the time it takes to save from Photoshop CS5 back to Lightroom - I timed 14min. FOR A PHOTO!
I feel like the old days when I rendered video - went out to get a coffee, and came back to find the spinning of wheel of death still spinning.
Oh, and I got to talk to India today too! for 3.5 hours - with no resolution to my problems.
Susheel accessed my computer remotely  - saw my catalog - sees 73,000 images, and asks "are you a photographer?"  REALLY?!  DId you REALLY just ask me that Susheel??
Why I HATE Lightroom 3 - let me count the ways:
    1. Adobe closed their tech support in Portland (whom I have spoken to many times, and ALWAYS got my problems resolved.  They always went above & beyond the protocol - and we sit here and wonder why the US economy is crashing), now you get a no-name person in India or in the philippines (who have no extension, no email, not even a direct line so when you sit on a call for 3.5 hours and need to call back you are starting all over again.. Dear Adobe - do we live in 1980?? You are suppose to be a LEADER in technology.
I am morally against outsourcing, my artwork is all about the death of american industrial capitalism.  In a time when the US is in crisis, Adobe works on moving things out of the US.  I'm outraged - You can't get someone in the US EVEN IF YOU TRIED!  The best I could do was talk to someone in sales about this - wow. What does that say - American's "look good and sound good to sell our product, but when it comes to something advanced in technology like using the product and trouble shooting, we prefer to use someone with no extension in another country"
    2. They don't offer support for anyone who is running off a network (they expect professionals to be working off their local "c" drive or Mac internal hard drive.  HA!!
    3. They continued to blame my network - even though my network is running smoothly, has no limitations on access, will open directly into photoshop just fine (and quick!), worked absolutely perfectly in Lightroom 2.... Yeah, it's the network, riiight.
    4. Lightroom 3 is corrupting files when opening into Photoshop CS5 - if I'm lucky enough to open them
    5. When I do get a photograph open, it loses it's filters once saved back into Lightroom (I rate my photos to help me navigate through the masses) - this really is hurting my workflow. When I shoot 800 images in the studio in one day - I DO NOT want to go back and fish around to find the edited version that lost its flag...
    6. I have been promised to get a phone call "sometime next week" since there is no extension I can call back on to move forward.  I'll keep you updated - let you know if Susheel keeps his word.  He couldn't tell me who was going to call me, or when, but he "assures" me it will happen.
         I wont hold my breath

So the worst programme Adobe ever put out, yet even though you can have a 30 day trial you still went out and brought it...
Yep, everything is always someone else's fault. It's never because they've made a stupid decision to buy before making absolutely sure that the software will work for them.
Seems like nobody is prepared to take responsibility for their own actions these days.
So, by that logic Adobe does not have to take ANY responsibility for pushing this kludge out the door?  Given they had a RC ready almost INSTANTLY after release should be sufficient to show they KNEW they were pushing garbage out the door.  Adobe is indeed responsible for their offering a know buggy product, bugs which CROSS PLATFORMS so it has to be the core code design not the user hardware or anything a given user has done.  Sure some systems might have setups which help make these issues more apparent, but that is on Adobe to deal with as they should publish limitations and known configurations which can potentially induce greater problems...but these entail an admission and accepting responsibility for the original buggy release...btw, release notes used to be where one would find quirks info and how to work around them post system requirements being carved in stone and set to entice the lowest common denomonator user.
One more thing...LR is marketed not as a PRO TOOL, it is sold as a tool for the average to hobby level photographer.  That is also has huge appeal to the pro market is a happy accidentally-on-purpose thing...but to berate people who don't feel it's their job to troubleshoot a commercial app is completely unreasonable...but anymore the US consumer is the largest beta tester group on the planet...I wonder how our EU counterparts are fairing as ironically, they have stronger consumer protection laws...try pushing a crap product out in the German market...heh-heh, yeah good luck with that.
Actually I would say this is not the worst software Adobe has ever pushed out the door but perhaps the worst photography software they ever sent as RTM.  Many, many PDF related apps and utils have actually been worse and we won't get into what they have done to Flash and Dreamweaver after that acquisition.  The closest analog I can see if that of what happened to Norton products post Norton being purchased by Symmantec.
However, I am willing to give Adobe time to address this because they did have the RC ready almost right away.  Should they have done this?  No way, but perhaps the marketing wonks put the company in the position where it had to meet the release date even if issues were discovered and fixes in the pipeline already and it was gonna be a 3-9 week delay before the issues were mostly fixed.  But they did and well, even those who ran the beta, ran the 30-day trial did not find the issues because they simply did not use that part of the program enough for the bugs to manifest their effects to the degree when you the user, realize something odd is happening.
I too am pissed, beyond belief as I depend on LR for my business, I can, however work around it for a while but I don't make money as a photographer I use photography for my business so the issues, while causing huge levels of frustration, are not fatal....yet...all I know is I don't want to revert to LR2.7 because I have done so much work onLR3/ LR3.2RC already and the tools themselves are indeed superior in LR3.x....when they work and that is the rub.  So many here are telling those with these bugs affecting their income/workflow bought into this to save time and leverage the bestter NR/sharpening and I say much improved adjustment tools.  I don't use the lense profiles at all really so nothing special for me there.
I would ask a question...I am sure this has been asked and answered but, eh, why not one more time because search is sooooo "haaaard"
but does this issue affect all file types?  I am shooting DNG but can switch to PEF if needed and convert on import but would rather just shoot DNG.  I am not willing to switch to JPG because if I have to do this I give up too much control on my images, for that I would switch back to LR2.7.
Also, what versions of Camera RAW were used in the beta and what versions are being used with LR3.  I know I did upgrade to ACR6.2(?) or whatever the most current version.  I understand there are a ton of factors at play in these bugs but I do doubt it's ACR as my old antique PS CS3 version of Photoshop does not have any problems, of course it's using the old version of ACR 4.6(?) again sorry I forget what version exactly but it's trivial and can be determined.
I like LR because I don't need the advanced features of PS all that often, still PS is a fun tool to have as a backup for the complicated shots though I don't have time to really spend in it as I would like to...
But in general I guess I am trying to say, Adobe had to know in advance of the RTM original LR3 because they had the RC ready almost instantly.  Of course past releases of LR also had the same experience just the bugs were, well, not as impactful I suppose.  I have been happy with LR since 1.x versions but this version is painful to support...and I as I previously posted I won't screw with Adobe's refund people, likely off-shored staff who get bonuses for talking customers OUT of getting a refund, I will simply file a chargeback with Mastercard...that is why I use it, so I don't have to let companies waste my time wading through their red-tape.  And btw, Adobe knows the customer will WIN any chargeback because this evidence of a known to be defective product was sold to the consumer and the customer even allowed the mfg to remediate the issue only they failed to deliver in a timely fashion.  So, if one is not happy just "go to the mattresses"...use the chargeback hammer.  The bonus is every chargeback granted to the consumer costs the retailer, Adobe in my case, $35 when they lose...

If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream

Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.

Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • Not rally a question, just wanted to share my absolute frustration with the update of iTunes...this is, without a shadow of a doubt THE WORST application i have EVER used, Mac or PC! And that's saying something with the amount of PC dross that's out there

Pull down View > Show Sidebar. This will give you back the same functionality of iTunes 10.x.x.

  • The worst service I have ever had with apple.

Ok, about a week ago my ipod mini started to show very obvious signs of hard drive failure. I now know this is very common with ipod minis. I took this ipod to the apple store in victoria gardens, and got an appoitment at the genius bar. I have never seen in my life such poor management. They tried to find every reason in the world to not replace my ipod with a new ipod. Not REFURBISHED new. I do not settle for refurbished parts. Now it states in they're warranty that I have three choices. 1 replace the ipod with a new one. 2 refund money. Or 3 get a refurbished ipod sent to my home. I of course wanted my money back because i don't want this problem to happen again. Refurbished parts are crap! My ipod is still under warranty and I demanded the money. Apple said we choose what option you get but no where does it say on they're warranty they choose. I argued with the store for almost 2 hours but they would not budge. I want to know if They should have given me my money back or is this a common issue with apple? All I know is that Next weekend I'm probly going to be potitioning outside apples door. And if this problem is not resolved I will never deal with apple again. I have also reported them to the better business bureau for inspection.

"Apple said we choose what option you get but no where does it say on they're warranty they choose".
No? This is from the warranty. I've highlighted in bold the 3 words you seem to have missed.
"If a defect arises and a valid claim is received by Apple within the Warranty Period, at its option, Apple will (1) repair the product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product."

  • Hi Lèonie, it is still recording only 8 minutes (more or less). I take off the 'metronomo', time is 'on', the section timing is on 'automatic'. What do you mean saying 'set the tempo to a very low value'  ? Thank you again. Ipad Retina ...

Hi Lèonie, I tried, but it still recording only 8 minutes (more or less).
I took off the 'metronomo', tempo is on (automatic), the section time
    is on (automatic).
What do you mean when you say "set the tempo to a very low value" ?
    Thank you again.
    Best Regards,
    Enrico

    Enrico,
in your previous post you said:
GarageBand (used with a Mic microphone) is stopping to record after only 7/8 minutes.
In which way I may record a complete concert or at least one hour of music ???
If you want to record at least one hour of music, you need to make the max. of 320 bars last for a long time - for example:
With a maximum of 320 bars, a song with160 bpm and a 4/4 measure will only last for 8 minutes; to make it last 32 minutes, reduce the tempo to 40 bpm.

  • THE WORST EXPERIENCE I've ever had with a phone co...

So, where do I start. I will give you a summary to start with...
Bought an L920 from EE in late December and took it in to repair mid January. Got it back today with original problems still present plus a whole load of scratches and dents in the body and screen. Poor customer service from EE throughout the whole process.
Now for a more in depth explanation.
Bought an £330 L920 on PAYG on 24th Dec from an EE store in Cardiff. Actually I bought two, one for me and one for my brother (which is pretty much problem free). I was happy with the phone for the first week until I noticed a few problems while comparing it to my brother's.
The first problem was the bezel not sitting flush with the screen on the left hand side. There is a gap spanning approx 1mm and a noticeable bulge halfway down the screen, where the gap is the widest. I did notice this a couple days in but thought nothing of it as it wasn't emphasised by the collection of dust and was so excited about having the phone that I didn't want to have to deal with taking it back in. Over the course of just over 2 weeks before taking in for repair, the build up of dust was very annoying and unsightly.
Another problem with the screen is that the whole display doesnt sit flush with the body and the raised lip can be seen by eye and felt. It is easily noticeable. Not only does it not sit flush, when pressing down on the screen you can see the whole screen sink into the body. This problem was not noticed until the days leading up to me taking it in for repair.
There is light leaking into the screen from the search button. This is easily seen with a black screen.
There was creaking on the bottom left and top left of the body, which got very irritating and non-associative of a supposed premium handset. If it was a cheap handset I would feel more comfortable with this problem and just put up with it.
Into the second week I noticed that there was the dust under the front facing camera. I did blow into the ear piece a few times and it did seem to move the dust, but reappeared almost instantly. This was the last straw, I couldn't ignore the problems anymore as they were constantly playing on my mind everytime I picked up the phone.
Hardware problems aside I had a few freezes and crashes here and there where I had to reset the phone.
Took it to the EE store in Leicester as this is one of the closest stores to Market Harborough. The fare was £10 by train and had to do this twice. I know this may seem petty but it was £20 that I didn't need to spend if I wasn't given a faulty phone. Took it in for repair on the Sat 13th Jan and was told that the turnaround for repairs is usually a week (2 weeks at most) and that it was likely I could pick it up the following weekend. I was surprised by this and took it with a pinch of salt.
I described most of the problems, the only problem I omitted was the freezing and crashing as its the OS which is I assume a Windows problem.
At the time of speaking with the EE rep I was told that Nokia would be dealing with this repair from thereonin and I could visit their site to track the repair. This was inaccurate as it was sent to EE's repair centre. I discovered this after posting a problem on this forum in regards to going 9 days without any update. He made it explicitly clear that if I wanted any updates I was to go through the Nokia site not EE as he wouldn't be able to tell me anything that the Nokia tracking service couldn't. Anyway after finding out it was with EE's repair centre I proceeded to try contacting them. Near impossible to get through. Phoning numerous times every hour their lines were constantly busy and they do not give you the option of waiting in a queue (I think if it is above a certain volume). From about 20th Feb (after discovering it was with EE not Nokia) to today Tues 5th Feb I was only able to get through twice. I must have called them in excess of 100 times.
The two occasions I did get through I was greeted with incompetence. Unhelpful in all respects. The second time I got through the lady over the phone basically lied to me. She told me that the problems I had listed in the report were fixed and that it would be dispatched by the end of the day. This was Thurs 31st Jan and I received it today Tues 5th Feb. 6 days to post within the UK? I'd already waited over 3 weeks so what the hell what's another couple days on top. I was reassured that the handset would not leave the repair centre without the repairs being addressed and if it didn't pass their strict quality control standards. Load of b*******!
Went to EE Leicester after work this evening and things just didn't go to plan. At the first instance I had problems with the manner in which I was dealt with but we soon made amends and this leads me to THE MAIN PROBLEM.
After waiting over 3 weeks to get my phone back from repair I was shocked and utterly disappointed as soon as I laid my eyes on it. Same bulge and gap in the body, same sinking screen, same light leakage, different dust in the FFC and with added extras i.e. scratches and dents around bezel and edge of body. And of all the things for them to repair they stopped the creaking!
Was offered unacceptable solutions, the only acceptable solution in my eyes is to get a brand new handset from back store. I bought the phone especially for its camera performance (which I'm lukewarm about anyway and I swear is producing softer shots post repair) with the intent of bringing it on holiday to take some beautiful shots.
The first solution was to leave the phone there and have it sent back to the repair centre. No way was I giving my phone back to them. It would probably come back with a cracked screen.
Second was to take it up with Nokia. So Nokia what can you do for me? Will I get a new phone by 23rd Feb so I can take it on holiday with me where I will be proposing to my girlfriend???
Sorry the stupidly long post but I need something done. Now
Also forget to mention that the metal Nokia camera plate on the back is not flush with the body. I don't know if this is bad design but the raised lip is annoying when holding it in hand.

The offer from EE was presumably to fix the phone , which they are entitled to do, you turned it down.
You can either go back to them and take up their offer to repair or you can try the Nokia warranty which will involve you contacting Nokia direct either by taking it to an authorised/approved Nokia care centre or submitting an online claim under the warranty to Nokia and following whatever instructions they issue for sending the phone to them.
You have not so far contacted Nokia as you have dealt only with EE.
I'm surprised the EE assistant told you the phone was being sent to Nokia rather than their inhouse technicians although I think that was simply a mistake on the assistant's part.
How did you get a PAYG phone from EE? I thought EE were offering contracts only.
So far as time scales EE don't post phones backwards and forwards on an individual basis. The shops use courier services and the frequency of deliveries and collections will depend on the number of shops in a town and the level of goods going back and forth.

  • Just the worst phone ever? Lumia 810

I had one Nokia 810. It started freezing and restarting randomly, one or more times a day. Then one day it stopped turning on all together. When I charged it, it would flash the t-mobile logo every 5 or 10 minutes and show a low battery symbol. t-mobile was no help. Of course Nokia support was no help. Got another from T-Mobile AND bought a new battery. Battery has been charged for a couple hours- the new phone won't even start! Am I losing my mind? What could I possibly be doing wrong. Yes, I've tried different chargers. How long is a new battery supposed to take to charge? Nokia says 2 hours for a full charge. Obviously, I'm ready to throw this phone in the trash and start over. No more Nokia in my future.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For anyone else struggling with this- Lumia 810 won't turn on, won't charge, cycling through T-mobile logo, Nextel logo, and red battery symbol- I don't have a solution but I did manage to resolve...something.
Pressing combinations of buttons did nothing. Troubleshooting on a computer did nothing.
In the end the problem seened to be that the battery completely discharged and, for whatever reason, would not recharge.
I hooked my old 810 and old battery up to the USB port on my PC. It cycled, as usual, but several hours later it was on. It completely reset but it was on.
I put the old batter into the new Lumia I received an it powered right on. It continued to charge and work normally from that point.
I put the new battery into the old Lumia to see if it would charge as well. Several hours later it is still cycling. So...
One battery responded to being plugged charged by a PC. The other battery has not responded yet, but I hope that it will. The mystery is that only one phone (the old phone) cycled and showed the battery symbol. The new phone did nothing at all until I put the partially charged batter in it.
I wonder if a place like battery source could charge the battery that hasn't responded yet and that will resolve this. If it does, I'll let you all know. If none of the other suggestions are working for you (they didn't for me) try leaving the phone overnight plugged into the PC. I also wonder if I need an authenthic Nokia charger...
