Thermocouple device 9213, 3 questions

Hello Everybody,
I am using the NI USB 9213 with the USB 9162 carrier. I am taking measurements(continuous mode) by using all 16 channels. However, there are three newbie questions I would like to ask.
Firstly, I am using 3 DAQ assistant VIs. Each one uses 5 channels(the third one uses 6) that represent an area as perceived by me, namely, Upper, Middle, Lower. In order to get measurements from all three tasks, I have put true constants to the stop input of each VI and have connected the error out to error in to acquire measurements from each DAQ in an order. My question is, If, When I am changing the temperature of a channel that belongs to Upper VI and at this specific moment my program is acquiring data from the Middle VI, is the delay of response negligible?
Secondly, I would prefer to use one Daq assistant for all channels, but is there a way to plot the responses in more than one graph?
Lastly, for the former case where I am using the three tasks, If I change the acquisition mode in High speed, will this apply to all channels, even though they are used in three different tasks?
Thank you in advance,
Ioannis

Using 3 separate DAQ Assistants makes no sense. Use one and then you can just use the Split Signal function.

  • DFM device discovery issue "Devices stuck in Questioned state"

    Hi
We have LMS 3.0.1 installed with DFM 3.0.4 The devices are showing Questioned with Error code "SNMP timeout" with no specific reason. The snmpwalk is coming for the device as I checked with snmpwalk command. The only device discovered as"known" has ICMP permitted from Server to device and no other device has. They only have SNMP permit. Can this affect the dicovery?? or what else can I try....Please suggest!!
    Rgds

Yes. DFM requires that all devices be both SNMP and ICMP reachable. DFM uses ICMP to verify reachability to all IP addresses on the device. However, at the very least, the address by which you manage the device MUST be ICMP reachable.

  • [SOLVED] Installation to a Bcache Device - A Few Questions

I'm installing arch to a bcache device following instructions on this page:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bc … che_device
One thing I can't figure out.....
Step 1 is to boot into the install disc....DONE
.... at this point no partitioning has been done....
Step 2 is to install bcache-tools from the AUR.
Question: how can I install packages from the AUR if I don't have the base-devel group installed on my system yet? Am I overlooking a step or missing something obvious? Please help I'm stomped.

I figured as much. I guess I'm confused. Building packages from the AUR requires the base-devel group, does it not? So how can I install bcache-tools into the live environment?

  • Connecting DAQ Device to VI Question

I downloaded a program titled "Acquire_andSave_as_.Wave_File.vi" from the Developer Zone and attempted to run it. Got an error "The specified device is not a National Instruments product, the driver does not support the device or the device has not been configured using the Measurment & Automation Explorer"
I opened the Block Diagram for what I think is the routine crashing (causing an error) and MAX sees my M Series 6250 card and channel - but how do I check that the Program is calling or referring to the right hardware device?
What am I not doing to connect the hardware (M Series 6250 PCI card) to the VI program?
    Thanks!

To expand just a bit on edw's follow-up question, you can absolutely replace just the Traditional NI-DAQ portion of the code with NI-DAQmx VIs.  I meant to imply in my first reply that the example I suggested had the same functionality as the Traditional DAQ chain in the save to wav file example and could be dropped in to achieve the same functionality.  I have attached a slightly modified version of the save to wav file example to give you an idea of where to start.  Keep in mind that you will need to specify two channels (i.e. DevX/ai0:1) for a stereo acquisition.
    I hope this helps-

  • USB-9213 Calibration question

I am considering purchasing a USB-9213 16 channel TC module but wanted to be sure that it could be calibrated in-house. The calibration procedure posted on NI website says it requires plugging the module into a NI cDAQ-9172 chassis to do this. My question is, can the calibration be performed over the USB connection instead or is there some additional features/connections in the backplane of the chassis that are not avaivable over the USB? Thanks.

    Hi hgcdte,
It is required for proper calibration to use a cDAQ Chassis.  The communciation is different enough that it would affect the calibration procedure.  Post back if you have questions!

  • Switched to different BU device - now have questions

    Good morning,
Yesterday, I decided to stop backing up to my time capsule after updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.5 from Leopard 10.5.8. I switched to an external 1.5 terabyte OWC drive. Very easy to do in the TM pref pane. But now...
Why do the backup files look so different on both devices? The time capsule files look like disc images and end with .sparsebundle. The backups on my external USB drive have all the files and folders separate and visible. Also, there is a System Folder on the external USB drive now. Why is that there? It's not, and there never was one written to the Time Capsule drive...
    Pictures...
    This is the Time Capsule

This is the ext USB drive:
    http://www.dpkmusic.com/albums/003/EXT-HD.png

Yes, it is out of place, and if you deleted things from the clone, rather than erasing the drive/partition, that could well be where it came from. If it's a full copy, it contains a very large number of files and folders, so will take a while to empty the trash when you delete it.
If so, there may be some hidden files left over, too. To see them, download the free [Tinker Tool|http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html] app. It allows you to change the Finder to show hidden files (among many other things). Select the first option under Finder, then click +Relaunch Finder+ at the bottom. Reverse this when done.
But be very careful; there should be some hidden files there. Most likely, the only one of any size that doesn't belong there will be the private folder. You can safely delete it.
Did you intend for the iTunes folder to be there as well? If so, that's going to be a problem, sooner or later. See #3 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

  • HT201303 Using account on new device, asking additional questions

Trying to purchase apps on a new device, it is prompting me for additional security questions and I gave no idea what the answers are. I have never set these up. How do I know what the answers are? Can't find the answer in account settings or on line support. Thanks.

What do you mean by register your device? If you are already using the iPad, it is registered. If you are not getting the "None" option, I cannot explain that.
I live in the U.S. I have the "None" option if I go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID, tap my ID, tap View Apple ID then tap Payment Information. I can also change my credit card in that screen. You don't deselect the credit card, you select the None option.
You do not have to use the card if you can't remove it. Just continue to buy gift cards and use them. Another you way that you may be able to get the "None" option is to make the change in iTunes on a computer, rather than trying to do it on the iPad.

  • How to run a midlet on a real device and  other questions!!VERY VERY URGENT

PLEASE I NEED HELP FOR ALL THESE DETAILS
    AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
    hi
i would like to know the following details regarding
    J2ME:
    1. What is the size of a KVM(Kilobyte Virtual Machine)?
    2. What would be approximately the memory size
    of a mobile phone?
    3. How do i transfer my midlet application developed
with the help of a J2ME tool kit to a mobile device?
    4. Should the device to which i am transferring
be MIDP compliant alone i.e as of now
i can transfer my midlet application only
to an MIDP compliant mobile device?Or rather
    what are the in-built features/softwares/specification
a mobile device should have before i transfer
a midlet to a mobile device??
    5.Suppose i have written midlets...and put them
in .jad and .jar files(midlet suite has been created).
Now suppose i have to download it to my
mobile phone, how do i do it?
And if other people have to download it to
thier mobile device...i need to put it on the web-site
right? How do actually put my midlet to a web-site?
Are there any steps involved for all that?
6.Will the mobile device have ENOUGH MEMORY
for executing the midlet which i have created
considering the memory constraints of a mobile
device. Also the fact that the KVM also
would take up a lot of space though it is measured
    in kilobytes
    thanx in advance

    2. What would be approximately the memory size
    of a mobile phone?
This depends on the phone vendors. But the min size should me 128kb.Normally it should be 128 to 512 kb.
    3. How do i transfer my midlet application developed
with the help of a J2ME tool kit to a mobile device?
There no provision to do this with j2mewtk.
Once angin this depends on the phone vendors. If the phone supports to download from a site then you can directly download it from that site or you have to connect to pc(you have to install the Java Application Manger) and then you can do it by using a serial cable.
    4. Should the device to which i am transferring
be MIDP compliant alone i.e as of now
i can transfer my midlet application only
to an MIDP compliant mobile device?Or rather
    what are the in-built features/softwares/specification
a mobile device should have before i transfer
a midlet to a mobile device??
The device must be j2me enable.ie midp/cldc compatble. Then you can download the application on to the device.
How to download i already explained in q3.
If you place the .jad and .jar in www.j2me.com/app/
then In your jad you must give the url of the midlet.
Then any one can download your application.
6.Will the mobile device have ENOUGH MEMORY
for executing the midlet which i have created
considering the memory constraints of a mobile
device. Also the fact that the KVM also
would take up a lot of space though it is measured
    in kilobytes
Once again This also depends on the phone vendors only. For motorola i85 they support 50kb, NTTDoCoMo phones they support only 10kb size of your application.

Gone anything worng plz let me know

1 and 2 i do not know right now.
You can transfer MIDlets to J2ME compatible devices only ,atleast for now. To do this , you must use a serial cable and download it directly to your cell phone or pager.
The CLDC has been designed to suit applications that run low on memory ( from 160 kb to 512 kb)

  • Bluetooth device discovery simple question

when the master device is discovering all the devices in the local neighbourhood, do the devices being discovered know that the someone is searching for them, even if no contact is made.
ie. Is there any java code in the bluetooth api's that i can use on the devices being discovered to alert sed device that someone has just searched its bluetooth address and name?
or is this all underlying in the stack and not accessible to me?
any minor response will do :)

i do not think there is. why would you want to do this anyway can i ask.

  • Fieldpoint Device Selection panel question...

When configuring a new Fieldpoint Express IO Point, the Fieldpoint Device Selection panel opens to select the IO point I want to use.
Under the View Configurations tab, I have created unique names for my different Fieldpoint configurations.  The first configuration in the list is simply called Fieldpoint, and I no longer use it.
    1. It's Remove and Modify buttons are grayed out.  Is it not possible to remove it?
    2. If I'm using the old style (not express) VI's, like FP Open.vi, FP Creat Tag.vi, FP Read.vi & FP Write.vi, do I really need to create these different configurations?  Does this configuration name get written back to the IAK file I'm using with FP Open.vi?
    (Using Max3.0.2) & LV7.0 under Win2K
    Thanks,
    Mike

Fieldpoint is the last configuration you saved in MAX and probably cannot be removed.
I don't know whether the names are saved in the iak file (I don't think they do) but you probably don't want to use the old VIs because they're legacy VIs and will probably not be supported at some point. If you want to dynamically build channel names you can do so by concatenating strings and using the strings as FP I/O points.

  • ASM with block device - stripe size question

Implementing a 2 node RAC system on Linux/RHEL 10gRel2. Hardware is HP SAN storageworks storage array. We plan to use External redundancy for the disk groups, and I read in one of the RACSIG Best Practices for ASM documents to select a stripe size of 1mb or as close to that as possible. The storage array stripe size max is 64k. Can anyone discuss/explain if this will be an issue if we're using External redundancy?

    Hi buddy,
Can anyone discuss/explain if this will be an issue if we're using External redundancy? The idea is to improve as much as possible the I/O operations. Until 10g ASM had two options of allocate space for its files: coarse and fine. For coarse, the AU (Allocation Unit) was of 1M, for fine, its size is 128K.
Most of database files have the AU of 1M, due to this, When ASM allocates 1M of space, if You have the stripe size of 1MB, You'll guarantee one better distribuition of the I/O on all disks the LUN belongs.
Take a look here and here
    Hope it helps,

  • Questioned devices in DFM

    Hello,
I installed LMS 3.2 on Win2008 Server without ACS integrations. I have all devices (43) in DCR and all credentials are correct. These devices are managed by RME correctly (I have all configs in archive management, I have all these devices in inventory database...). But I have a problem with these devices in DFM. When I use auto or manual synchronization with DCR - all these devices are in the questioned state. I tried to use rediscovery in DFM, I tried to use delete and add devices in the DFM, but the result is always same - questioned state:-( I installed patch dfm3.2-win-CSCta56151.tar - the installation was succesful, but the result for all devices is same - questioned state:-( The snmp-server engineid is not configured on all these devices. So can you help me with this problem?? Thank you

What is the reason DFM is giving for why the devices are in a questioned state?  In order for DFM to manage a device, the device must be reachable by both SNMP and ICMP on the IP address by which it has been added to DFM.

  • Questions on sounds and speakers..

    Question1
What do the sound choices in system preferences do
    vs
The sound choices in Audio Midi Setup, Audio devices tab?
    Question 2
When ever there is an external speaker source (i.e. docked in windows speak), i always want it to automatically use the external speakers. These speakers are USB. I seem to have to play with settings when I reconnect to the speakers to change the sound from the internal speakers.
    Question 3
When I disconnect the external speakers, it automatically moves the sound to play out of the internal speakers (and back to the external when they are reconnected). This is happening via a KVMP switch, but happens with no KVMP switch with speakers just pluged into mac. Is there a way to prevent this from automaticaly happening? Is does not happen if the external speakers use the RCA type 3.5 jack; it only happens with USB speakers.
    Thanks
