Thinking of Buying a ZEN Vision M 3

Firstly, i am moving to new zealand for a year next week, and would like to buy this mp3 player before i go, so i can put all my music off my computer onto it. While i am away though, will i be able to add more music to my player without wiping what i have got. (basically what an ipod does)
i.e can i put music on the mp3 player off 2 or 3 PC's?

as far as i know, you would need to install the Driver onto all the PC's you want to transfer music from.

• If thinking of buying a Zen V Plus..

Hi everyone,
I have been in contact with Creative's customer services with regards to fixing my faulty Zen Micro - as it turns out it'll cost ?70+ as it's out of warranty so rather than pay that I thought I'd be money better spent buying a new player.....
Anyway to point I actually wanted to make. I asked what would happen/how much it would cost in the future to replace the battery in a Zen V Plus (as it it not removable like my old Zen Micro) and unbelievably I was told and I quote 'You will have to replace the entire player in the case that the player's battery wear off completely in few years time.' Now is it me or is this ridiculous?!
I wasn't entirely sure about buying an mp3 player with a fixed battery because I've heard from people who own Ipods that it costs a fair amount to replace the battery but to say I'll have to shell out for a completely new player....well, I have to say it's put me off buying a Zen V Plus. I know how quickly batteries can run down - I've been through three in 8 months with my Zen Micro but thankfully it's been a minimal cost to replace.
Any thoughts on this?

Hi lookcloser,
At the moment, there have not been any as the units would all still be in warranty, so this may be why the Customer Support rep gave that info, there has been no need to organise anything like that yet. It may be correct that it is easier or faster to replace the whole unit or they may need to do that, but if you only needed a new battery then you would not be charged for a whole unit replacement.
I will see if I can check a price for you.

• Zen vision 60 gb compatable with PlayDock Z50

Hi
I'm thinking of buying a Zen vision but not sure whether to go for the 30 gig or 60 gig. My main worry is that I understand the 60 gig is bigger than the 30 and apparently doesn't fit some devices? I'd like to eventually buy a PlayDock Z500 - would the 60 gig be compatable?
thanks

• Zen Vision M:60 with USB host and Panasonic Camcorder SDR-

I own a Panasonic Camcorder SDR-S0 which stores its data on a SD card. I'm thinking about buying the Zen Vision M:60 to use it as a sort of "imagetank" for importing the videos when on vacation. Normally the data on the SD card are transferred by connecting the camera to the PC & transferring them with the Panasonic software MotionSD studio .2E. Another possibility is using Pictbridge. The resulting format of the recorded data is mpeg2.When on vacation I don't have my PC with me & I would like to transfer the data on the Vision M:60. I read that for importing photos this should not give any problems, but no trace of user experience of importing video, without passing thru a PC. I did following test to check which sort of data are on the SD card before transmission to the PC, by reading the SD card with a USB cardreader?: it contained data with .MODextenstion (which is apparently a MPEG-2 codec), .MOI?extension files (which I think is not?needed) & a .PGI file?(which I think is needed?for?graphics printers ?). I copied one?MOV00B.MOD file to my PC and tried to play it. I succeeded without any problem to play it on Windows Media Player. My question : does anyone has any experience with the transfer of this sort of data to the Zen Vision M:60 using the USB host connected either to the digital camcorder or to a cardreader and then importing the .MOD files. If so, could the data be played back on the Vision M:60 ?Thanks for your help ?[color="#ff0000"]As I want to buy the Zen Vision M:60 (bargain price :smileytongue I hope someone with experience on this matter will respond urgently as I leave on holiday next week !!! According to the list of tested products here:?http://www.creative.com/products/pro...24&product=433?it's been tested on both Nikon Coolpix P3?and Nikon D200. So?I'd make the assumption that it probably does. It works with my Fuji S5600, and the list above shows they?only tested ?E900 and A600.

• Questions about buying a Zen Visio

Im thinking about buying a Zen vision M but i dont want to buy it and have creative come out with a new better product like 3 months down the line because it is alot of money and i dont want that to happen, is there a new player in the works already to surpass the features of the vision M or am i pretty safe buying it, and about the screen, what are your expierences with the screen , do the movies look good? alright thanks in advance for any responses.

in regards about Creative coming out with another player, i wouldn't know but then again i wouldn't put it past them. but in terms of features, the Vision M has it all so i don't really see why they would need to come out with another one?as for the screen, it's superb, i've already watched a couple of movies on it. i will say however at certain angles, the screen is dark, but if you look at it from head on you're perfectly fine.basically if someone is sitting beside you about foot away, it will appear dark for them, but as long as they are right beside you, it's fine

• Zen vision:m Power Adap

Hi!
I'm going to buy a zen vision:M, I read some reviews but i can't understand if the AC power adapter is included or not.
In the product page on creative website it is not mentioned, but i've seen many photos with it.
Thanks

I've bought a Zen vision:m by Amazon in USA a brought it to Brazil, and guess: no power adapter. I've mailed Creative because in the manual, on page 4, the customer is instructed to fully charge the bateries by using a power adapter. The answer was a list of what I should get in the box, and the list does not include the power adapter.
So I think that at a first moment it was included and later on Creative decided to exclude it but did not update their instalation manual.
The power input in the ZVM is for 5V-DC and I have on 5V adapter. But to make sure I will use it right I would like to know whether the adapter provided by Creative has the negati've pole at the external ou in the internal part of the output jack.
If someone who has the adapter and has a multimeter could check this for me I would appreciate.

• Q: Zen Vision M Navigation Quest

Hi there!
I am about to buy a Zen Vision M mp3 player. There is one single issue which is extremely important to me but everyone using such a player should be able to answer it easily.
So, I have a huge collection of classical music. The normal id3 navigation using artist and album is of no use here (Think of a structure such as Mozart --> Piano Sonatas --> Sonate 2 --> Adagio). So I used to id 3 tag genre as a substitute for the composer of a work. My question would now be whether or not it's possible to access music on player in exactly this order: genre --> album --> artist --> title? Thank you very much for your help indeed!
Henry

If i understand what u are asking, what you have to do is press the 'Play/Pause' button when you have highlighted the Artist (in the long list of artists.). This will play all of that artists tracks in alphabetical order.

• DO NOT BUY CREATIVE ZEN TOUCH 2

I cannot begin to explain the problems I have had with the Zen Touch that I bought 2 Weeks ago. The long and short of it is the original device that I bought, I could not transfer songs to it. Dowmloading the latest Firmware / Drivers / Application etc made no difference whatsoever. Problems ranging from errors like 'Device is busy or not attached', to copying songs across and them showing on Creative Media Organiser but not showing on the device itself. Also problems with the device freezing and having to wait for the battery to run out before it would work again. After lengthy phone calls to someone on support who could neither speak or understand english, I arranged for another one to be sent to me, in return for the faulty one. And guess what, the new one has exactly the same faults as the original. I have uninstalled the software on numerous occasions thinking that it may be a faulty install. Set it all up on my machine at work, and my friends machine at work, only for the same problems to occur when transferring songs. To top it all, I sent 3 messages to the support link on the creative web site, only to have a response to, yep you guessed it, NONE of them in FOUR DAYS. My advice to anyone who is thinking of buying a Zen Touch, or any other Creative Labs product come to think of it is, is to go out in the back garden and set fire to the money instead. Just incase anyone thinks I am doing something wrong, I work for a software company, and I know that if we sent a product / gave a support service that was as poor as that I have received, I would be out of a job in 5 minutes. I am Going to get my money back and go for an iPod, telling everyone I know to steer well clear of creative. Thanks for listening.

"If the mailer I received from Cambridge Soundworks yesterday (a Creative complany) is any indication, buying a 20GB Zen Touch or even Sleek would be a bad move. It looks like the Sleek is already being relegated to the status of "**bleep** stepchild" in the Zen line-up, which is where Touch has been for a while. The latest ad from Cambridge Soundworks was pushing the Micros, Nanos, Muvos and even Neeons. But no Sleeks."
You comments don't make much sense. The Sleek is a new model and is probably backordered by many dealers. That is probably why Creative is not promoting it heavily on its own. Demand from Creative's retailers is probably more than enough to consume the production for a while.
"But that's not what's interesting. It's what product was prominently featured: The Zen 20GB. This is the player that looks like a fat Zen Micro in a black case, previously available only in Asia. "
That does seem to make sense though, since Creative probably didn't make enough of them for a full retail store roll out in the US, so they probably decided that that selling them directly would be a good move. National retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc. want products to be available in huge quantities otherwise they don't want to sell them.

• Is it worthy to buy a Zen with 2Gb and a SD card of 4 or is it better to buy a Zen with 4

Hi.
I'm thinking on buying a Zen, but i'm a bit confused on the issue of if is it better to buy a Zen with 4Gb or a Zen with 2Gb and a SD card with 4Gb, because the diference on the pricefrom the 2Gb to the 4Gb fits a SD card with 4Gb, and will result in a Zen with 6Gb...
Does the zen works fine with the reading times of the SD cards? Or does the performance drops when reading from the card?
I would apreciate your experience/knowing opinions.
Thanks

• Zen vision:m and memory card rea

hi !
i want to buy a zen vision:m but i'm not sure i can use a memory card reader with it (i know i'd have to buy one). because i want to transfer pictures from my camera whitout computer, like when travelling.
can anyone tell me if i can do that ? i've tried many website but found nothing !...
help me, i'm fed up and i'm not so smart with technology. please, be clear if you've got the answer, because i'm not english nati've too.

• New zen vision m mod

Just wondering if a new zen vision m model will be coming out soon? I know it has been out for a while and I am looking at buying the zen vision m but not sure if i should wait.

I tried the Zen Vision and I really liked it. It is basically a horizonal MP3 Player vs the Parallel type MP3 players like the Zen Vision:M. The buttons are fantastic, much, much better than the touch pad on the ZV:M. The display is 3.7" and the text information is very, very crisp and easy to read. However, I did find it a bit darker than the ZV:M. It is translucent, which means that like the iPod you can actually see what is on the screen with the light in the room or outdoors without using the backlight. The ZV:M is just totally dark and you can't see anything on it without the backlight.
There are a few things missing from the ZV, which are found on the ZV:M. Ability to protect and hide folders. 2 colors for backgrounds, but no ability to set a picture as a background/wallpaper. ZV:M has 5 backgrounds and allows you to set any picture you want as a background. ZV: backlight is either on or off. There is no fade down to 0% like on the ZV:M
Advantages of the ZV, user replaceable battery, you can also buy an extended battery, which increases run time by almost double. The port on the side that allows you to download pictures directly within the unit itself. It's pretty sweet, I test it out and I found it worked good. It's a bit slow on larger pictures though. But if you use smaller resolution generally its okay.
Gi'ven what you are wanting, I'd say you really should consider the ZV. It is available in black or white. I got the black one and its kind of a corragated black, so it doesn't show finger prints. However, after getting the black one, I really wish I had gotten the white one. What can I say, I like white.
Good Luck!
